i just made a discovery and was wondering anyone else who has the same programs can check this out....
i am running damage control latest and the kernal modified for damage control for the novatek panels..so i get about 44 to 46 fps consistently now. HOWEVER when i use the stock camera application it behaves exactly the same as it used too before the fps kernal, basically in low light the frame-rate drops to something less than 19fps (19fps is about what the human eye can distinguish as "movement without blurring or choppiness") and the camcorder works the same way, so even though the camcorder is supposed to be recording at 24fps, in low light it really isnt. i bought the app "vignette" and its a neat camera app that has a bunch of really cool filters, well anyway BEFORE the new kernal it basically behaved the exact same way as the stock camera app, it would get blurry and choppy in low light situations (fps would drop below 19) however something interesting happed AFTER i installed the kernal! the vignette app actually performed better than the default camera app, it seems that vignette actually didnt drop below 19 fps as even in a very low light situation i could move the camera around and the picture wouldn't blur or get choppy. so this leads me to conclude that
1. something is holding back performance of the stock camera and camcorder that the fps kernal doesnt fix (which was already known)
and most importantly 2. it seems that maybe third party apps are NOT affected by whatever is holding back the stock camera!
so my theory is that if there is a third party app for video recording perhaps we can get proper fps video recording in low light situations....!!!!
I made a video showing the differences with my flip mino HD and its currently uploading to youtube i will edit the post with the youtube video once its done.
but if anyone else has a the modified fps kernal and can test this please let us know what you find. if you have vignette then try vignette if you have another third party camera app then try that. perhaps by comparing the code between the two apps we can see what might be holding back the performance of the stock camera.
EDIT for video
Very interesting discovery... I hope you are on to something here. Thanks
i just tried taking the cam with vignette... gorgeous!
what third party app uses the video camera? i want to test that out too.
this app is great, just downloaded it n i like it alot. gotta find a thrid party video app now n we would be set.
That would be sweet if an 3rd party app could fix it.
OFF TOPIC: Hey what widget is that you are using with transparent background and green indication lights?

Hey there,
Just wondering how to launch the Android camera in Video mode by default?
I have the Galaxy S2 Skyrocket and will likely end up using a third-party camera app once I get it working right. With that said, I'm wondering how I can launch the camera app in video mode automatically? I have shortcuts on the homepage and would like one for the camera app and one for quick video recording.
Is there a way to do this? I hate the fact that the camera app is now one main application and that the video is not separate anymore. Is there a quick workaround to this?
Thanks,
--mike
This project was abandoned. Further reading for reference.
What is Audio Trigger ?
It's a Android app that when detects a louder voice makes a photo, then it's shows you a preview and you select to save it or erase it. Also it have a force capture inside the app.
Not working
Louder audio detection
Perform a photo when loud audio detected
Any help it's thanked.
See you.

SferaDev, this looks awesome! I know its only in early stages, but its a great start. Really nice work
Thanks for the recognition too ;p
Would be quite interested in helping with this drop me a PM

The popular camera app - Camera FX Zoom - has this feature and i have been using it regularly.
Actally i have a suggestion. How about trigger the audio recording when there is louder sound. That will be useful whenever i fight with my boyfriend
Or how about make it generic, make it a Tasker plugin so that we can decide what to do when louder sound is detected. I will definitely buy it (up to $5) if such a Tasker plugin is available.
Good luck

The idea is that when he detects the sound he makes the photo and shows a preview and you select if you wanna save it !

Camera Zoom Fx it's a Camera Api not based in Googles one, so its compatible with Audio Trigger ! When doing the photo it asks what to use !

Hi hotelier1984!
I love your idea of recording audio during capture! Could produce some awesome results.
The main difference between this and a sound trigger in a app like CameraZoomFX would be the speed of capture. The original idea stems from use of two different apps. I'll quote the original thread for more info:
Hi Everyone!
My names Mike, and I'm an artist working in the UK. I've had an idea for an art project for quite some time now, and in the process of working through the details I believe a component of it could be solved using an Android Application. The idea for the application would be to have a camera that is always at the ready and will snap a picture every time a certain level of audio input is reached. Now, this will be slightly different to your average 'Audio Trigger' in the sense that the camera will have to be able to take pictures at an incredibly fast pace. Two, three, four or more a second if possible.
Obviously, Ive done a bit of research to see if there are any applications available that could do the job without any alterations. There are a few apps that come close.
The first is 'Fast Burst Camera'
This is an amazingly quick camera application capable of taking photos in the region of 30fps at 1280x720. (I'm guessing this uses some sort of modified video camera function?) Setting this to Full Manual mode allows for amazing capture speed, taking photos as fast as you can hit the shutter button. Perfect!
The second is 'Sensor Camera'
This app has perfect control over the sound meter levels for the 'Audio Trigger'. Allowing you to set a watch value at 10db increments. The only drawback is the use of full resolution shots, making the capture rate far to low.
I'm wondering if it would be possible to combine the two functionalities into one application? Whether this would be possible in terms of processor speed and hardware?
I know the commercial appeal for this functionality would be almost non-existent, but for the use in this project it would be perfect! I've emailed the respective developers of each application, without much interest.
If anyone is interested please let me know. This is for a non-profit art project, so it would be great if people wanted to donate their time, but I would also be happy to pay. The app would not be used commercially at my end, only for the work in the project.
If you've made it this far, thank you for your time
Mike.

Ok then as I'm stucked I'll post a mindstorm.
For Audio Trigger Sound detection we have two options.
1. Start recording and when the mic detects a higher dB makes a ACTION.
Problem: We don't want to save the recording. Requires too much space !
2. Use the Voice Commands API from Google.
Problem: We wanna hear a word not a command !
Thanks in advance !
As we know, for all Cyanogenmod Users was the Camera app a little bit flawed, it did not let you record in 4K. I found an easy workaround
for that, which should work with any ROM, not only CM.
Just go to the Google Play Store and Download Open Camera, with the link here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=net.sourceforge.opencamera&hl=en .
The open it and click the Settings Icon, go to Video Settings and set the Resolution to Highest; 4K Ultra HD. And that is basically it!
The app overall is a great replacement, it has way more controls over Focus etc. There is a bug though, when switching to video mode, the brightness will go on the lowest level. Clicking the settings and going back will fix that. I hope I could help you, Feedback is welcome!

Samsung have removed the Video record feature in Game Launcher, I know they have dedicated Screen Record feature in the quick launch now, but its very clunky to implement/activate when your playing a game.
I did post something about it on the EU Samsung Community boards titled "Screen Recorder feature missing on Gamer Launcher on Note 10/10+" -I'm not able to post link here)
Does anyone know how I could launch the Screen Recorder as if it were an App (not via the quick launch button) ? (so that I could add/map it in the Game Launchers Pop-up panel)
Cheers
