I have been "playing" with my Lenovo A660 for some time.
Initially, I had the ETOTalk ROM installed but found that some applications still used Chinese Characters (looking back, I might have been able to clear that with a cache wipe or factory restore).
Anyway, since then I tried a couple of differnt ROMs with varying success.
One common problem throughtout all the ROMs is that I cannot get the 3G (only) to work with 2nd SIM card.
The reason for me to find this out is because my providers THREE Ireland and Three Austria only use 3G connnections (in essence, you cannot get a connection via 2G). Whatever car I have in the 2nd slot, cannot find a valid provider.
If I switch the cards, the "other" card now in slot 2 cannot find a valid provider.
If I switch the 2nd SIM to a differnt provider (e.g. a local pre-pay provider like O2), the phone gets a valid connection. However, it remains in 2G (for that SIM) and does not connect as 3G!
Again, I only notices, because my two providers ONLY accept 3G connections, thus rendering my 2 SIM phone "useless" ...
Has anyone experienced this as well or even better, does anyone have a fix for this problem?

You have to choose a custom rom ported from a stock rom, which was already having both sim 3g enable, when it was in its parent set (cell). then try to flash in your Lenovo A660. your set will now work as both sim 3g. for data network, each time you have to make desired sim 3g enable.
If you do not get success then it may be your hardware problem.
One more thing you have to take care, that ported custom rom is not using application of a set, which was not designed for dual sim. otherwise same problem will remains. because using those application brings changes in the custom rom, with their .lib files.

Something that's been bugging me for a while:
I have an unlocked Touch Diamond -- I once used another operator's SIM card while my number was being ported. Ever since, even after hard-resets, MTTY and many different ROMs and radios, Connection Setup has offered me two setup options: one for my network (Orange UK) and the other for the network I once used (Blyk).
So, even though I haven't used the Blyk SIM in months, I am still being offered connection settings for it automatically and the network doesn't exist anymore!
Does anyone know where this history of networks/APNs is stored and if there is a way to clear them? The only real solution as far as I can see is that they're stored on my Orange SIM, but I can't work out why it would store the Blyk settings...

I am unable to use 3G on htc desire. I have set the correct APN. The problem is that when I choose "WCDMA" as the network mode, it automatically switches back to "GSM only". The place where I live has no problem with 3G availability. I feel the problem lies more with my handset. Can someone please help ? Is there anything that I can do to get rid of this problem. My phone has lost its warranty since I unlocked it.
Have you tried any other operator sim card? It's a good troubleshooting to do when this kind of problems happen...
Had problems like that before and it was an incorrect APN setup.
Thanks for getting back. I tried with a different sim and a different operator. They were also not successful. APN setting is perfectly right for the current sim. The APN settings were given by the operator.

Are you using any kind of widget to switch APN on / off, 2G/3g ?... I noticed that for example, Widgetsoid can mess with 3g connection so much that sometimes you need to remove it and reboot the phone so you can get things working again.
Try using another SIM card too. It may give you a clue on what's going on: wrong settings / card with no data activated / etc ...
I am not using any widget to turn on/off the 3g. EDGE services work on my mobile while 3G is not working. If I use the sim card on to a different mobile, 3G works fine without any problem. Tried using another sim card with 3G data activated and that also did not work fine for me on HTC Desire.
I have gotten this message 3 times in the last 5 days. Each time I need to do a reboot to restore cellular/sms service (toggling airplane, wifi, bluetooth, sync, and 4g do not restore cellular/sms). The phone has the same AT&T sim card since day 1 and I have never removed it.
Is this a faulty phone, sim card or both?

Did the sim come with the phone? ATRIX 2 needs newest of sim cards to function properly. If that's not the problem then I'm not to sure.

Yes, same sim card that came with phone.
Could be a faulty Sim, i've had that happen before with other phones, just go to at &t and show them the problem, they should replace it for you!

Smth like stack overflow issues at GSM controller or so). A year ago when I had face this "sim card does not allow connection... " problem, there are no google serch results on this keywords request. Any. To remove this message I was ought to reboot my device every time it appears. And I was thinking that it is normal behaviour for my device. But now there are lot of complainings at the web ( minimum 5 of Galaxy Tabs P1000, thousands of HTC Disire, few motorolla Deffy, 10 Galaxy Ace, few of Nexus S and so on), so I understand that I'm not alone, and problem is known. So I went to Samsungs Service and they confirmed that it is famous problem, have flashed my phone with some magic ROM (magic because it is official but does not available anywhere in the web, XDA or samsung sites! ) and now my phone works fine. Any other solutions like battery removing, *#*#4636#*#* sirvice menu, new sim-card, flashing variety of modems and roms, didn't helps me. This is not faulty sim. This is serious device's defect. Bring your phone to manufacturer and let them repair it or give your money back. This is their problem not your.

With ATT---If you took your old 3g sim card out of old phone and used it. You will get this message. You need to activate the 4g card that came with phone

I have exactly the same issue randomly at times when I try to register on network manually (MTNL Dolphin 3G - Mumbai). Unrooted MB865 ver 2.3.6 & updated on 18th May 2012 to System Ver 55.28.37.MB865.AsiaRetail.en03. If I keep the setting as Automatic in Type of Network & Operator it functions fine fluctuating between Dolphin for local access & CellOne on roaming access in the same area based on cell tower connection the phone registers on alternating between "E" & "H" automatically based on cell mast direction proximity, however if I select 3G only and uncheck automatic for operator then the phone searches for signal for a very long time and fails to show any operator saying "no connection available" & sometimes when "Dolphin" network does appear and try to select manually get the error as "this sim card does not allow connection to this network". I did complain with the service provider and they were supposed to get back to me after checking in their switchboard exchange where I also provided them my SIM number in addition to my cellphone number(no response). Also as is case with poor service of all Indian cell network providers even in urban cities, also face random peculiar issue of call not being received inspite of signal available on the phone & network asking me to recheck the number I have dialled while placing outgoing calls though it is ok and signal is sufficient. Also "Network Speed Booster" app looks like a lot of bull (any other good apps??)
I needed to know using the secret Menu *#*#4636#*#* for 3G GSM service which kind of network I should ideally select for best results & does this setting override the regular menu network settings??
I get "G", "E", "H" randomly based on my locations but no "3G" or "H+" and further at times these icons are grey and sometimes blue and in either cases randomly at different locations sometimes data throughput is not there as only one of the arrow shows active blinking. Any advise on the status based on colors and the blinking of the arrows?? Thanks!
I have a HTC ONE S for several years (bought in UK).
I'm using the same service provider probably for two years.
Today, I've reset the device (factory default) due to application over loading...
Unfortunately, the cellular reception (voice only, not to mention data....) is intermittent.
In other words, there are few minutes it identifies himself correctly on the cellular network (and yet, also there is no cellular data reception and sending SMS), but most of the time there is no reception at all (emergency calls).
Called to cellular provider but they couldn't help (APN settings only).
If I run a network scan, it picks other 2 major provider not the one I use (one of the big 3 in the country).
What to do ???I didn't root or something like that.
you might have to try another radio, and yes, try rooting it, installing a recovery and flashing another stock based ROM and see if the problem comes back. i'm sure flashing a different radio will get your signals back...
also you can try unlocking the phone again, there's a link in the development section that allows one s users unlock again... see if it helps.
Hi. I`ve got an MHA-L29 and I`ve got a problem with dual sim settings. In dual sim setting menu if I select default mobile data (4G services associated with default SIM) on SIM 1 then I lose the signal from that sim (Emergency calls only) and I`ve got SIM 2 signal. If I select default mobile data on SIM 2 I lose signal from that sim and I receive signal on SIM1. Basically, I can`t have both sim working (network signal) because I need to set 1 SIM on default mobile data and the one that I set it`s losing signal.
Maybe someone can help me. Thanks

This is strange behavior.
By default there is no problem. See my screenshot.
I suppose it is mobile operator's problem.
What is your full version (settings / about phone / build version) ?
What is your country and mobile carriers?
It`s not a mobile operator problem. I use the same sims on mate 8 and it`s fine. It`s exactly like in your screenshot, sim 1 default mobile data and I lose signal, and I have signal on sim 2. If I select sim 2 default mobile data I lose signal on sim 2 and receive signal on sim 1. So basically I can`t use dual sim and mobile data.
I`m in UK with BT and Lycamobile.
Build version was MHA-L29C432B198 but I`ve tried different things and now I`ve got nrd90m test-keys.

Agree, C432 region is for UK too. So your bug must not exist, but it is here.
Nrd90m test-keys means that metadata from oeminfo does not match with current ROM.
Did you try to rebrand? If yes, just flash ROM again what you flashed last time.

Something blocked adb. Maybe HiSuite. Turn it off, then check that pc recognises device.
adb devices
You can issue to refresh adb
adb kill-server
Phone must be in twrp.
I`ve managed to do all the steps, but after restart I can`t get past the Huawei logo, phone enters in Huawei eRecovery where I have Download latest version and recovery (restore your system with wifi) reboot or shutdown. I`ve tried to restore the system with wifi but I can`t (getting package info failed). I don`t know what went wrong during the process but the phone it`s stuck at huawei erecovery.
So now I`ve managed somehow to update emui to 8.0 and android 8.0 and I have build number MHA-L29 8.0.0.321 (C432log), but the initial problem it`s still there.
I still can`t use mobile data or both sims in the same time. The sim selected to be default mobile data lose signal.
I`ve tried to use 1 sim and sdcard but I don`t have signal because the sim it`s set by default to be mobile data.
Anyone?

Seems to be hardware issue. Do you have warranty?
I don`t have warranty. Both sims slots work fine one at the time, not together.

OK. Last thing - try to delete and recreate apn settings.
Don't think that they all incorrect, but maybe one of them...
The Mate9 is active/passive: it's impossible to make a call using sim 1 and using mobile data with sim2 but in stand by you can receive calls on both sim. This limitation is not present on mate8 and mate10.

You can only have data on SIM1. Both sims can be used for calls and SMS (to my understanding). If you have two SIM cards from the same network it should not be a problem, overall. If you have two different networks (one on each SIM) then you might have some issues.
If you have the SIMS on the same network, and they use the same APN, you might want to copy the settings to two different APN's a label them for SIM1 and SIM2.
Also be careful of what version of OS you use. If you download a version that is originally branded for something else, then expect problems. There are also "Gotcha's" with firmware that is taken from one device and reconfigured to work on your device. Usually this is a matter of rebranding and copying underlying code over. This too causes issues with dual SIM phones. I have found this to be true with my MHA-L29C567. Sadly, I would love to have a memory card under the second sim slot along with a second SIM, but I have yet to figure that one out...

Just got the same problem (2 sim cards from same network, only obe working at a time) and thanks to you it's solved. I just had to rename the second APN differently.

my both sim are working fine but some time one sim card not work when i reinsert sim. it does work. so what is the issue?
