[Q] No cellular reception after hard reset - HTC One S

I have a HTC ONE S for several years (bought in UK).
I'm using the same service provider probably for two years.
Today, I've reset the device (factory default) due to application over loading...
Unfortunately, the cellular reception (voice only, not to mention data....) is intermittent.
In other words, there are few minutes it identifies himself correctly on the cellular network (and yet, also there is no cellular data reception and sending SMS), but most of the time there is no reception at all (emergency calls).
Called to cellular provider but they couldn't help (APN settings only).
If I run a network scan, it picks other 2 major provider not the one I use (one of the big 3 in the country).
What to do ???I didn't root or something like that.

you might have to try another radio, and yes, try rooting it, installing a recovery and flashing another stock based ROM and see if the problem comes back. i'm sure flashing a different radio will get your signals back...
also you can try unlocking the phone again, there's a link in the development section that allows one s users unlock again... see if it helps.

[Q] Bars but Emergency Calls Only

First this only happens where I work in the basement where only certain providers (eg Verizon) have some signal in only part of the room. I did not get signal on AT&T or T-Mobile Pay as you Go down here.
I noticed especially after I flashed the new radio which gives me better service overall that I get phone signal down in the basement, but it is GPRS of Unknown Network and says emergency calls only. I get up to 3 bars. If I scan for available networks I get the name 31064.
Does anyone know what network that is or what is going on?
Anyone have any ideas? (I will take wild speculation as well)
i wouldn't be alarmed by it. I experience this at my office since I work in the basement...haha
It's possible your basement just won't read a signal like mine. install a window by your desk, maybe that'll help, but there shouldn't be anything wrong with your handset.
Sounds reasonable. I would agree with no problems with my handset. I do get better signal than my nokia e51, so maybe it's picking up a slight signal where the nokia could not.
From what I've noticed, my Nexus S acts this way whenever T-Mobile (my provider) does not have coverage wherever I am, but AT&T (not my provider) does. You can check this by going into "settings" -> "wireless & network settings" -> "mobile networks" -> "network operators" .....it will then search for & tell you what network has coverage where you are. Every time I've had bars & it says "emergency calls only" & I've checked the above, it's always been when I had coverage from AT&T but not T-Mobile.
Thus, it seems to me like an "enable roaming for emergency calls only" kinda thing.
Emergency calls only
ha ha....lol... i also have the same issue on my brand new i747M S3. im confused.
i try the all methods for resetting phone.
i noticed when im on long way, i dont know my handset is goning emergency calls only. but when im restsart phone its fine.
i do everything but not fixed it. firmware update, downgrade, rom change, and unroot. but not fixed, and also try factory reset the rom by falllowing the samsung secret code *#197328640# > UMTS>COMMON>NV REBUILD and restart and do again CDMA>COMMON>NEXTPAGE>REBUILD and restart., thhis is the code of full factory reset the rom and EFS. but not solve........
i change the hand set to international i9305 brandnew one. i used it 2 sady without issue.... day after morning when i wakeup, i see the massege,,,,emergency calls only,,im confused becouse this is a brandnew one...after i called the friend he also got the i9305. i asked about this issue. he said me he didnt face to this type of issue.. im confused he said me try sim change.. i do it... problem solved....:victory:
problem is the SIM card......i changed it to new one... and used i week no emergency calls issue... when im going to low signals areas.. its show no network and automaticallly change to the network....im very happy for fixing this problem.....:laugh::laugh:

[Q] No data transfer on UMTS

Hello all,
Been using this phone for ~6 weeks now.
Familiar with all 3G/H and no network issues - been there, done that...
Yet, I find it odd that while my phone is sometimes steady on UMTS, it has no actual data connection (Ping fails and also other tools), while calls can be carried out!
Also, at times, while network signal is showing as working, I'm actually w/o network connection (phone calls) at all.
And last, in several occurrences a day, while I'm not in a call and probably also not in 2G (I restricted my connection to WCDMA only), I get Network signal yet no data signal in the notification bar (WIFI is off).
I tried re-flashing 1.78 EU RUU (for my unbranded phone) with no change.
I tried rooting and putting Lee's ROM with no change.
I switched microsim from my provider with no change.
Is my only solution is sending it back to HTC for repair? or there is another solution to that frustrating (!!!) situation?
Many thanks for any response!

Help request: LTE Data works,"no service" otherwise. IMEI/number, but no texts/calls.

Help request: LTE Data works,"no service" otherwise. IMEI/number, but no texts/calls.
Software: Android 5.0.1 Skydragon M8 v2.0 Sense 7
Many people have posted issues with LTE where their cellular signal was fine for "2G" functions like calls and texts.
I'm having the opposite problem. After leaving airplane mode (landing at an airport today), I have a "No Service" message in the status bar drop down (notification tray), and the Settings>Network information page shows "Not Registered." However, I do have an IMEI (see details below). However, LTE data works perfectly fine.
I've obviously tried changing the settings in Settings>Mobile Data (preferred network to Global / LTE / LTE/legacy 3GPP mode) connection type global/auto/LTE/etc), to no avail. If LTE is connected it works flawlessly, but I cannot make calls or texts, and show not registered on the network. Data roaming is set to deny, but even allowing roaming does not change the situation.
Before this happened, I HAD gone through all the XTended Settings, and even 'looked' at (but did NOT change) some advanced settings pages, including the 'hidden' HTC network info page ( *#*#4636#*#* ). Again, however, I didn't change anything -- unless by accident?!
Does this sound familiar to anyone? Anyone know if I may have inadvertently changed something and can change it back (a setting that would persist in the hardware through NANDROID restores and factory resets...). Or, any other advice to restore the cellular service connection to normal?
I've tried a full NANDROID restore (multiple times) to a working copy, and a factory reset. I have limited access to a PC since I'm traveling, so re-flashing the VZW firmware or stock recovery or lollipop/verizon RUU would be challenging.
I did spend a good 45 minutes (at a library, my only PC access!) searching the forums and web, but to no avail.
Settings information:
OPperator Name: Verizon
Signal Strength -114 (I've had better but still have the same issues)
Mobile Network type: LTE
Service state: In service
IMS service state: Not Registered
Roaming: Not Roaming
Phone Identity page:
IMEI shows up (15-digit number...how can I verify I didn't mess this up?)
Phone Number is correct
IP Address: 100.66..... (looks good)
Any help is GREATLY appreciated!
Same here
I'm having the same issue. When i try to make a call my LTE bars drop to nothing and it says call failed no network available. Any ideas or help would be nice. I was using venom rom as well. I'm currently trying to flash the newest RRU to see if that resets things. I'm wondering if it somehow my sim card. I took it from my droid turbo. I've made sure to turn off advanced calling on my VZW account though.

I had this same issue, running from ruu then rooted. I didn't noticed until I started seeing voice mail notifications but never heard the phone ring. When I tried to dial out I got the immediate call lost message. I couldn't figure what was causing it so I just did a reset. I made sure not to restore any systems data from prior to the Lollipop upgrade. At this point everything is working, the only thing I haven't installed yet is the xposed framework and sense 6 toolbox.

What kind of reset did you do? I know my issue is slightly different, but I did a full RUU-flash yesterday (latest lollipop version) and still no luck. Unfortunately I'm out of the country now and access to a computer is limited, and I don't even have a SIM card yet to check if cellular service would work anyway.
I do intend to do a flash of the stock recovery and radios once I have the time and access, but that may be a while...
Still, I'll keep checking this thread to see if anyone posts any other options

Just go into settings and to Backup & Reset , this will return your phone to a fresh install and remove all non bundled apps.
Before doing the reset try going into Settings then Call then change Preferred Network to Global, or toggle from LTE then back to Global.

Can any developer possibly mitigate the issue I am having(prepaid data )

no matter what ROM i use, no matter in what manner I flash said ROM, my XT1548 simply will NOT connect to mobile data . the problem seems to be that a cellular signal needs to be established in order to "activate" the SIM. (I guess this isnt a problem with contract phones). however, I cannot get a cellular signal at all. Ive tried airplane toggle, cellular toggle APN, you name it. I just want a working ROM that lets me use my US Cellular registration . I will post any logs or whatever I need to help. but can anyone help out here? it seems that with VIRGIN the problem was solved within CM13 (virgin "data anywhere" or whatever it was). but how can the US Cellular version be helped?

OPO only connects to roaming network

Tl;dr: OPO refuses to connect to my default home network, instead chooses roaming. Cannot text or call and data will not work on roaming (they used to).
BACKSTORY
Hello, my OPO was working almost perfectly for 2 years without any significant damage like water or drops. Then, in November of 2016, I went on a trip to Europe for a few months (I live in Canada), and used my OPO occasionally there, by roaming when I needed to make calls. (Used my regular cell plan with an extra worldwide option)
When I got back to Canada, I had a stopover flight in Toronto, where I was able to connect to my HOME network and make a call and some texts. Also used some data during this time. Then, I flew the rest of the way to Vancouver. There, I was able to connect to my HOME network and send some texts and use data for about an hour. That was at the end of February.
THE PROBLEM
Since then (last 1.5 months) I have been unable to connect to my HOME network. My OPO will only connect to the AWAY/ROAMING network, even when I go into Network Operators and manually force HOME - it just says it's unable to connect at this time.
When connected to AWAY, I typically can not do anything. However, sometimes, I will be able to receive calls, and send and receive texts. No data, and no sending calls. Before this whole problem started, I was usually able to call and text and use data on AWAY.
WHAT I HAVE TRIED
Choosing different Network Operators, different Network Types (WIND is WCDMA). Problem persists.
Deleting and creating new APNs from the current information on carrier's site. Problem persists.
Ensure that my OPO can read the IMEI. It does
Went to carrier (WIND, aka Freedom Mobile) and tried the store's demo SIM that uses an alternate account. Problem persists.
Carrier tried my SIM in their own phone. Worked on that phone.
Carrier gave me a new SIM for my account.Problem persists.
Reset my OPO to factory defaults, including apps and data. Problem persists.
Format my OPO and flashed different ROMs (including various CM and stock releases from KitKat to Nougat). Problem persists.
Flashed different modems available for OPO from the various original CM11 ROMS, as well as one from a CM12 ROM. Problem persists.
Tried the SIM card from a friend's phone on a different carrier (Virgin Mobile in Canada).Problem persists.
Removed my StyleSwap cover and ensured antennas and antenna pins were clean and making contact. Problem persists.
Tested Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC, and GPS to ensure other antennas were working. They are functioning
Use online tool to see if IMEI is blacklisted. It is not, and problem persists.
Took my OPO with me when travelling to various parts of British Columbia over 100KM away to test different cell masts. Problem persists.
CONCLUSION
That is as much detail as I can think of. I would be happy to provide more if it may help. I already had a chat with OnePlus's live support and email, and was told I would need a repair, which would cost a few hundred dollars.
I am also thinking about buying a used/broken OPO for cheap and swap the motherboard, however there are not many available near me right now, and this also carries some risks akin to buying stolen phones.
I am pretty tech savvy, so feel free to go into as much detail as you can.
Thank you for any and all the help you are able to give!
