Way too late to the party for me, I got the acase dual for ~$10 and there is just no way I'm going to pay $50 for a defender...now, had it been available a month after release they would have suckered me.
Nope, would not buy one. Happy right now with my Ringke Fusion case. Doubt the otterbox would have a clear backside either.

ME TOO. My N4 took a power dive and I had to get a new back for it after it shattered. Would much rather had spent the $$ on a otterbox than a new back.

Buy a dbrand skin. I use a dbrand a a bumper and work in an industrial setting. I've had my n4 since last November and its still pristine. Not one scratch or dent

Just wanted to give props to Otterbox. I have the Defender case and I wear it everyday on my belt to work as an IT Support Engineer. Today I was getting into the CEO's Jaguar and the belt clip caught on his leather seat and busted. I was not pleased but I called Otterbox and they said no problem we will send you a couple of spare belt clips no problem!!! Now that is customer service and I am glad I bought the Defender even though it cost a fortune.

Do you have any scratches on the top part of the chrome band of the phone?
Yeah that's a side effect of having it I suppose. Mine has light hardly noticeable ones.

AT&T will also replace the entire case if any party breaks within the first year. I broke the clips that holds the two plastic halves together and the swapped mine out.

Otterbox has saved my phone on many occasions since I got one. I've never broken a phone but my Galaxy Skyrocket feels so light and breakable.
I would highly recommend any Otterbox products to anybody!
I got the commuter and had a crack develop on the outer shell from the inside of the USB port outward. I submitted a support ticket on their site and the next day received a shipping confirmation and email for my replacement case! I was totally blown away, amazing to find a company that so painlessly stands by their products!

Huge Otterbox fan, had them on all of my iPhones. Was going to get one for my Skyrocket but got a Sedio Active case thrown in for free. Otterbox quality is fantastic though.
Dropped my Otterbox Defender cased phone on almost ANY surface you can imagine and I've yet to have a phone even scratched. The case may look like hell, but the phone always survives so I've always been sold.
BTW: I used Otterbox cases back before they started making phone cases. They made weather resistant cases for field data equipment that were always the gold standard so they've got 10+ years experience with their stuff! :good:
I've got a Defender on my Skyrocket. Bought it from Amazon to keep the price reasonable (~$35 incl. shipping), and it's taken plenty of hits without the phone being damaged at all. By far the best phone case I've had, even if it is on the bulky side.

I have a Defender for my Skyrocket, and it's saved me a couple of cracked screens for sure! I've had a Defender for my Blackberry Bold, iPhone, Atrix, and Defender. I won't buy a phone until I know there's going to be a Defender for it
Their customer service is top notch. Had to get a few replacement belt clips from them in the past, always prompt and free
I do have one question though, has anybody gotten either of the other series (impact or commuter) for their Skyrocket? I need a case for the weekends that I can put in my pocket and not have to worry about looking like a retard when I TRY to pull my phone out of my pocket.
Impact is a pita in the pocket. Rubber case is high friction.

I love otterbox. They always send me replacements and are so nice about it.
I also like ballistic cases. They send parts too. Sent me a new case in a different color when I had mine come apart from too many battery pulls.
I have two otterbox defenders for the infuse and two ballistic hc's for the infuse.
Otterbox defender on the way this week for this skyrocket. Two color, can't wait to get it. Working as a glazier (glass guy) I really depend on a good case with belt holster / clip.
My teenage daughter is prone to dropping her phone. She has already trashed the screens of 2 iPods. I'm going for the Trident case from all the stuff I'm read so far. But it's a bit boring for her.

You could go with the slim anker battery or the "gold" battery extensively reviewed here instead of a 3500mah if you want it to still be able to fit in a case.
The trident case is really the best as far as protection for this phone, and with the rubber trident logo on the back, it provides a really great non-slip grip on the back of the phone. I can put it on my dashboard and it doesn't slide anywhere. That said, if she's used to the multitude of crazy/wacky/sparkly cases available on the iphone, I can see why the simple elegance of the Trident case might not be for her.
Go with the Trident case and let her "bedazzle" it herself, then she will have an original case no one else has.

Anker battery and trident case works for me, i've dropped it a few times without issue.
Going for an extended battery which requires a new, thicker backplate will virtually eliminate all protective case options.

My colleague's daughter is similarly clumsy teen. When she dropped her 2nd iphone in less than a year again, he forced her to earn money for another one and placed her flipping burgers at McD on weekends until she made enough to buy it herself. Guess what - supposedly she hasn't dropped it even once since
Get her a cheap flip-phone. One that can be easily replaced should she drop it. Children shouldn't need high-end smartphones anyway.

I don't know anything about them. If I would take a guess, I would say sometime in May. They'll try to get them out pretty quickly.

I'm looking for an Otterbox alternative. I knew about them for years, but when I got the Commuter for the EVO 3D, the plastic cracked and broke. I contacted Otterbox Customer Support and they sent me a new one. Months later, that thing cracked & broke as well.
I never dropped them either. It was just natural wear and tear. Not sure if it was the way it was built or the materials used to make the Otterbox Commuter case.... But I don't think I'll try/buy their products again.

I hope the commuter comes out soon my s3 had one and it was great not to bulky and it saved me from breaking my phone a bunch of times when I dropped it. I have a bad habit of leaving my cell on my lap when i drive than when i park and get out i forgot its there and drop it on the pavement lo.
Will never understand why otterbox can never make a decent looking case. Obviously that's not the first goal but come on.

This is the first otter box for a galaxy phone that I actually like. The other commuter series designs have been pretty bland in comparison.

I do like the commuter's camera/flash opening. I am not fond of the little box connected to a big box design.
I have never had a Defender that I could resell because I rip the screen protector out of every one I have ever had because of the resulting fuzzies.

Any thin rugged cases that have the otter protection. .im sure its a far fetched chance, but that would be cool if a company could make a thin case that has the material to be durable as otterbox defender. ..
I like the cases that have front and back covers that keep the screen inset some for ground impact clearance.

To me it looks like it would keep marks of the edges/bezel if slightly bumped ot dropped but I bet a waist height drop to concrete.... the impact would flow right thru it and crack or worse shatter a screen
I like the cases that over lap the top notification area and home key, and are raised above screen.... essentially like otter defenders do...
I Guess im more into the rugged cases .
I wanna be able to toss my cell on a coffee table or /car dash or drop it from 4 feet " if an accident like that happened as the unfortunate ones that by skinny cases do .....and not have to get super pissed or raise my blood pressure thinking for them two seconds what damage did I do

You may want to look at the Cygnett WorkMate Evolution case, which is slightly slimmer than Otterbox cases.

I was just about to ask if anyone has found a bumper case for this thing. This phone is already so big and fat that it needs a bumper so as to not make the bulge in the back any thicker.

I cant even count how many times Otterbox has saved my phone. I wear the belt clip and work outside year round in Florida. Heat, rain, humidity etc. Lifeproof fell apart in 6 months otterbox going strong 2 years later.
I literally drop my phone 3 times a week from the side of a forklift a box truck a loading dock and pick it up dust it off and keep on rolling. They may be ugly but they work damn well.

I don't think this phone is huge by any means but I did just come from a nexus 6 lol. .
I like the supcases, they are cheap and offer good protection, the heavy duty version is way slimmer then a otter box.
I got this on Amazon for $8 to hold me over until a better case comes out. It does the job and protects it pretty good. I wish it was a little snugger fit, but it'll do for now.

I had one like that for my old note 2, if the case was more snug they would be decent. Hell ive been using the clear plastic bumper that came with the phone until the 30th when I can get my supcase heavy duty for $20
