[APP] Copy - Get 10GB FREE Cloud Storage - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

Just to let everyone know there is a new cloud storage app that is like Dropbox and Box (without the upload limit like Box has).
As a limited time launch bonus, they're offering 5GB bonus storage to who uses a referral link. So instead of just the 5GB you will get 10GB which is better than anything out there right now. Also if you Tweet it you can get an extra 2GB!!!
Before you say "I have never heard of this or it won't be around long" first off it is a new service this is why they are doing this referral promotion. Now think about it for second they have the domain name Copy.com, do you know how much that would cost them to get, also Barracuda is who is behind all of this. So take a second and think about this. It is not going anywhere and also it has features that are just as good as or even better than Dropbox and Box right now, and it is just going to get better. So why not sign up and get the most you can before it’s over.
It's as simple as click the link, sign up, confirm your email address, install the app to your phone or desktop and you're done 10gb FREE!
Mod Edit : Links removed
Get it before the bonus is up!!!
Have fun with your 10GB FREE cloud storage.
Also for all of those out there that are going to get mad about this being posted. Yes I get 5GB free but you know what??? So do YOU! If you just go to their site and sign up, you only get 5GB and that's it. So really we are both benefitting from this, and why not? This isn’t going to last forever so get the most you can for free while you still can.

Thanks!

Thanks!

Thanks

(TUT) HOW TO use google music outside US (post-beta version)

So...I see a lot of people saying/complaining they can't use Google Music because they are outside of the US.
There are tons of tutorials out there on how to get it in the beta stage (via invite) but since the launch today, those don't work as efficiently because the invites are gone.
Here is how I got it to work for someone else tonight...I am sharing it with everyone so hopefully it'll help some people out (sticky if someone asks?)
Some of these steps will look similar to the beta version for this...but this is the only way I could SPECIFICALLY get it to work (other proxies/methods seem to not be reliable)
Step 1:
Download Tor Browser (https://www.torproject.org/index.html.en)
Step 2:
After extraction...click "Start Tor Browser.exe"...give it a few seconds while it properly connects to a proxy and such. It should automatically connect to a US proxy (go to whatismyipaddress.com to check where it has connected. If it hasn't, you can disconnect and try again OR change the settings so that it does connect to a US proxy (a number of guides are online on how to do this)
Step 3:
go to google.music.com ...and sign in with your regular account. Click accept on any terms and service and acknowledge that you are going to a secure site (or something to that nature). You will get a few errors after you sign in since the browser limits a lot of executions from websites. On the main google music page, just click on the "S" with the dash through it on the lower left hand side (under "playlists"...click on "ok" for the next pop up.
Step 4:
Click on "UPLOAD MUSIC"...then download the music manager. Install the music manager and just for brevity's sake, select a folder with very few songs in it to upload (so that you can get started right away)
Step 5:
Once it's done uploading, click on "home" under My Library and voilà..your songs should be there. After this, you NEVER need the Tor browser again...any time you log in to music.google.com, it should work on your regular browser because it acknowledges you uploaded songs...but if you click on "shop" to shop for some music, it will still block you because of the browser's limits...read on to get by that
OPTIONAL:
Download the google music apk (I've attached it to thise post) from these forums in order to sync with your device
NOW the fun part...getting to the Google Music store and getting some songs!
Step 6:
install hotspot shield. google it to find it...some people say this only half works for them as a VPN...but it's worked on every computer i've tried and is one of the few VPN's that will give you full functionality in a browser
Step 7:
connect to hotspot shield and use the browser of your choice (chrome, firefox, IE all work with my tests)
Step 8:
go to music.google.com...log into your account. Click on "shop". You will now be sent to the music area of the google market. Very fun.
Step 9:
This is the easiest way for the free songs...just go to any free song, click to buy it ("free" button)..and it'll ask you to log in a few times probably. It will then ask you for a credit card..put in a real credit card number (preferably yours) and whatever address you want. Just pick a US state and a valid zip code in that state (google whatever area you want). The address does not have to match the credit card for free songs. You are then given the option to complete your purchase...and then it goes through and syncs with your google music account automatically. Very sharp feature...Google is amazing.
Now the only caveat or thing you might be wondering..."what about songs that actually cost something?"...damn you for noticing the only thing i didn't cover!
The only way to bypass this is to buy, via online, a US visa or mastercard gift card that you can either reload or purchase once and throw away and then use that card to purchase the songs.
So there you go...a very nearly full functional use of google music....let me know what you think and if it's helped you out. Feel free to share the guide...but give reps my few hours of playing with proxies/tests to get it all working in one swoop. Thank you/gracias/merci
Edit: I've now attached the APK that some have requested..I know it was posted here and there...but at least this makes it a bit more of a "one stop shop" for the guide
I heard that it's coming to the European market soon.
Looks like a great guide, and I guess it works for some, but I'm sad to say it didn't for me. The moment i sign in to music.google.com it says "We're sorry. Google Music is currently only available in the United States" even though I'm going there in Tor. Tried with Hotspot Shield enabled too.
I am in Norway.
Thanks though
edit: Ah, the problem seems to be that Tor is using an UK proxy instead of an US one. How can I change this?
edit2: I did it! Followed this guide to make it only use US proxies: http://www.blackhatworld.com/blackhat-seo/black-hat-seo-tools/8225-how-get-us-ip-addresses-tor.html
Thank you, great guide
Great guide....but waaay too mych hassle. Specially for paid music.
I'll just wait for the EU version
Shape up, Google!
Well, you need an american credit card to download the free songs, dang... :-/
Its an awesome thing...I absolutely praise such an exclusive launch of music beta by google. However, initially i found it really difficult to get it as it is only accessible from USA which i think is unjustified for the rest of the world. One of my friend told me about the vpn services. And after acquiring vpn services i am ablt to use google music outside usa
has anyone got the newest google music 4.9.00 apk syncing with the google servers outside of the usa?
somewall - the apk that is in this forum (in the same general category) works fine for me and others say that it has worked for them
andevin - thanks for the head's up...i'll make a note of it
for the credit card thing for the free songs...you do not necessarily need a US credit card.
I used mine (not an american credit card) and it worked fine...I just filled in the rest of the stuff...but for the city, i googled an american city (let's say...new york) and used that city, state, and zip code
when you go to purchase a song...it'll say "verifying" or "processing" and it'll purchase the free song regardless
to purchase actual songs that are not free, i will re-emphasize that you need a visa/mastercard gift credit card for it to work
hope this helps!
p.s. i now attached the google music APK to the original guide

Sorry but here in Brazil i could buy song with a standard international credit card (santander mastercard). The only stuff i have to bring up here is that it only worked when i was connect by hotspot shield. On normal connection it says not avaliable for my country, still.. even free or payed songs.

how did you enter the CC address information?
it only allows you to choose USA addresses
I didn't even bother with tor I just installed hotspotshield, went to music.google.com and registered, installed the uploader and now don't need proxy for general use.
Haven't tried registering my card details so can't say how that works.

I used US adress as well. Dont had any problem with it. But my credit card is not registred on US. Its has been acquire in Brazil, as international standard, so billing information is brazillian too, not american.
Great. Thanks for sharing!
Great guide, it worked for me and I'm in the Caribbean!! Many thanks.
any good free music worth getting?
i don't want to grab every single free song, else i'll hit the 20 000 max very soon, as my personal library is close to 15 000
i picked up most of the time limited POP, ROCK, LATIN, and some 80s/90s stuff, and some world, some instrumental...
BUG & "fix"
if you have 2 or more Google Music account like I do
the Google Music App will not let you switch to another account the easy way
the work around is to use Titanium Backup and Wipe Data for Google Music
or you can do uninstall / reinstall
then it will let you pick through the welcome wizard again which Google Account you want to use for Google Music
.
Thread moved to Android. Would advise you to read forum rules and post in correct section.
Failure to comply with forum rules will result in an infraction and/or ban depending on severity of rule break.
You sir, are a legend!
anyone who is having trouble changing to a US proxy.
check out this guide.
http://www.ghacks.net/2008/01/29/configure-tor-to-use-a-specific-country-as-an-exit-node/
Does anyone know why it's only available in the US? I wouldn't want to risk my Google account over getting it early. Also for those saying that it will be in the EU soon, I've seen no reliable source stating this; in fact I'm mainly reading that there's currently no time frame on release outside the US.
To get the free songs you do NOT need to enter any cc information. Songs get added to your google-account.
I don't think that you'll get problems with google. Google would like to sell songs through their store worldwide. just the drm's rights-holder making problems in lots of countries.
now we just need to get google to accept cc from all over the world. damn google, why didn't you just implement that feature.

Google Maps Cache Limit

Hi
Is there any way to get round the 10 limit on precached maps? I drive around the UK a lot and regularly do 200 - 300+ miles a day but in different directions, I would like to precache the maps but the 10 x 10 square miles simply doesn't cover enough area for me to use it as a navigational device. also I believe the cached gets cleared regularly.
I think you would have to manually scan your main route so the map can access your location info easier.
Sorry that doesn't seem relevant to the question unless I am missunderstanding.
I have created a prototype of maps downloader and was able to download a whole Poland in full details to SD. It takes ~400MB of space. UK is smaller in size, so I should be able to download it as well. Contact me on PM if you're interested.
Take into account you still won't be able to start a navigation when being offline. But navi won't eat so much transfer when driving.

Box giving away 50GB of storage with the new Android app
Just thought I would pass on a sweet deal. Box is now giving a lifetime account with 50GB of storage if you download and register the app from any Android phone. Here's the link to the marketplace:

Expansion of Cloud's memory
I am surprised at the generosity of cloud services. At first, they offered 2 gb with dropbox for free, then box.net and a few others handed out a free 5gb, then eventually one service - i forget the name - gave out 25 gb. Now Box (at box.com) is giving 50 gb of free storage space for free! I would act now, even if you don't need it now, it may be nice to have later. I am surprised that they can afford to give so much memory away. Where do they hook you at?
Box gives lotsa free storage but you have to pay for the desktop client. No Linux support. 100mb limit per upload. And ya gotta wonder how long they'll be around.
Fail.
Dropbox has free software, no file size limit and native Linux support. Financially sound, not going anywhere.
Sent from HTC G2
There was(and still is) a "hack" that allowed you to get 50GB for Android phones. I did it accidentally two times, and now I have 100GB's. It is kinda stupid to give 50GB for free, because that means, we have could have basically unlimited bandwidth, and it would cost thousands for that company.

Actually, you don't need the official box client for either windows or linux. You can simply use webdav and connect/mount as if it's a local drive.

Here's the full set of instructions for anyone who needs it.
For XP users:
1. Right click "My Computer"
2. Select "Map Network Drive"
3. Choose a Drive Letter
4. Type "\\www.box.net\dav" without the quotes
5. Box's server ping response time is kind of slow. Wait up to five minutes for the connection to establish.
6. Type your E-Mail for the username and your Password for password
Windows 7/Vista users:
1. Press the Start button
2. Right click Computer and hit "Map Network Drive"
3. Choose a Drive letter
4. Enter: "\\box.net\dav" without quotes in the folder box
5. Box's server ping response time is kind of slow. Wait up to five minutes for the connection to establish.
6. Username is your box email address
7. Password is your box password
EDIT: Be careful when doing this. Box's servers are VERY slow. Occasionally, they will lag so bad that Windows will time out several times on boot trying to connect it. If you boot up to a black screen with only a mouse cursor, reboot into safe mode, disconnect the drive, then reboot normally. I set the drive to connect on demand, since I don't use it for much. Dropbox and InSync are better services.
I have the Box app installed on chrome for free. It works just fine for me.

This should be handy I have DropBox as well I can use just use this to share files and saves etc without worrying about running out
This looks interesting and is really generous, but the link for the app is unavailable?
Edit: Scratch that It's just a bad link.. I got it lol.
I've tried out box, but I dislike the having to pay for a desktop client. I've made the switch to dropbox and enjoying that! The only way I would fill up 50gb is with music and video.
Got my 50gb, then switched back to DropBox after I realized it I wasn't able to transfer at more than ~17kbps with it. Explains why it took 2 days to upload my photo library (1.8gb) and DropBox had it within an hour.
I like box I got the 50gb free purely from owning an xperia phone

I took advantage of this just to get my music and pictures off of Dropbox and keep my storage size down there. Now I can get the 50gb plan instead of the 100, saving me $100/yr.

Probably just to share links or the app. If you're concerned then download LBE Privacy and deny it access. If you tell it to prompt when it tries to use your contacts then you'll find out when it needs it.

Drop Box, how is this a solution??

Now I could be missing something really obvious here but I can't seem to stream an album off drop box?
I uploaded a few last night so went into the folders on my One S today and could see all the music. Only problem is I can only play one song at a time?? Where is the option to stream an album? If this isn't possible how can this be a solution to internal expandable storage??
Why not use Google Music?
Edit: Ah, guessing its not available in your country. Yeah that sucks then. This phone really needed 32GB onboard if they were going to remove the Micro SD.
Because I have dropbox and though it would work where I drop music in a file (which I own) and then I can play it from the devices its installed on. Which I can, but only one file at a time.
The best solution is Google music; even if it is not available in your country, it's not that hard to get it.
If you are bent on using Dropbox for your music, then try ES File Explorer. It has an option to browse online storage such as Box and Dropbox. You can then long press on each file and add it to the now playing play list. Not the elegant solution you are looking for, I know, but better than nothing.

Damn cloud storage is taking over the world..
I would have liked more than 16GB in my One S (receiving tomo ) But il just have to live with it
I do however like dropbox i use it alot since i made an account.. I guess i could just download my albums on the go, If memory gets full, delete it and download something else..
But yeah, Its not a perfect solution, A damn SD card slot isnt very big, Surely theres room for it somewhere ? ive got a collection of SD cards, from 2gb to 32gb - Pretty much useless now
When they said it has ropbox integrated I assumed they meant it was actually integrated to function as storage and not just as an app.
Google are releasing there own cloud storage soon..
They'll take over the world soon...providing they kick Microsoft's ass. Apple is slowly losing the phone war. Still...the ipods are amazing. I'm still using a 5g video

I've been using Subsonic to stream my music for a while and it works like a charm. It was really easy (for me) to setup but I've heard some people have a hard time with it. I would suggest checking it out, could solve your problem. Just be aware that the first month is free to stream and then its a one-time, $15 fee to license the server. Well worth it imo.

As everyone says use Google Music.
If you cant get it, VPN to america and goto music.google.com and signup, then itll work in the UK there after.
Been using it on my old Samsung Nexus, and the One-S awesome app.

I like Amazon Cloud (Music) better.....same as Google Music though
if you have an always on PC at home, there is nothing better than this.

In Germany i can only use 500MB on full speed (7200kbit/s) and after that i can only use download speed like 64kbit/s for the rest of the month... if i would use the dropbox as my music storage i would blow the 500 MB limit during the first week =D

Sounds about right.... I love my unlimited data plan. A bit costly, but averaging 2+Gb /month it's worth it
a high data plan / unlimited is now becoming a must !! especially with all this cloud storage and the amount of apps that require internet.
its not soo bad for people who can use BT hotspots (me) or have wifi almost everywhere..
i reckon i could survive on a contract that only had unlimited internet and 0 mins and 0 texts lol
i could just use 3rd party apps to make calls and send texts via the internet... so its more important to have internet package than calls and texts lol
crazy!

[APP] Jottacloud - Cloud storage.& Android recovery

If you sign up till the end of November you will receive 15 GB storage. 10 GB is a bonus for early adopters, the basic and free version of the service will offer 5 GB. But what is interesting the Jottacloud Android app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jottacloud.android.client backup and recovery functions and they work really very well (described here http://www.jottacloud.com/autosync-for-android )
Some first impressions:
- in order to receive the extra storage you you have to set up and do at least one synchronization. After that the extra space should become available to you
- the Web and Windows work really well, the Android apk has some bugs like the way of closing the app is a bit annoying. I hope it will be improved.(EDIT: the new, improved version of the app is already available)
- the recovery function works really well and I wonder if it can be used for syncing across devices (like tablets and smartphones). I cannot test it because I have only one device. Is anyone who can figure it out?
- what is nice you can choose if syncing/Android backup should be done over WiFI/3G
- the upload is blazingly fast. The upload saturates my 40/4 Mb VDSL. I use different storage and Jottacloud is one of the best (like Russian Yandex or Swiss Wuala), far faster than Dropbox or Sugarsync
- there are no size limitations
- as in other services there is a referral program and one can enlarge the storage space up to 100 GB (according to the service: Invite friends to Jottacloud.Your friend will receive an invitation to Jottacloud by e-mail. Your friend clicks on the link and sign up on Jottacloud. Both you and your friend gets 5 GB of bonus storage You can get up to 100 GB bonus storage). Just in case let me know if you would like to receive the invitation from me or you can share the invitations with your friends, etc.
Click referral link below. If you wanna 5 gigabytes extra for you and for me. It means that till the end of November you will receive 20 gigabytes of space
