[Q] Best Kernel to pair with SynergyRom? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

I"m currently running the latest build of SynergyRom and the ziggy kernel locks up every now and then. Which kernel would be best to pair with this rom? Thanks

Have you tried the factory rom option?

I have tried ktoonz n it was horrible; very unstable and required your phone to be reboot every day to stay working. Ziggy kernel was okay, but it locked up periodically. Zeus has been pretty good so far, I'm interested to see how it does on battery.

May want to look at this thread. Maybe that is why I have never seen a reboot or lockup on Ziggy's. I am always on the latest full firmware and run the lowest clock and voltage options on Ziggy with no problem. Worth a shot.

Hmmm I have never heard of flashing tz. I have been on the most current modem and rpm though. I can report that by changing kernels my Android system use has dropped dramatically giving me better battery life.

[Q] Advice please- ROMs that have good battery life

Hi-
I have been using the BAMF Remix ROM, but have developed some problems with random factory resets occurring. I am not sure what the problem is, but I thought I would try another ROM to see if I get the same problem. Does any have any advice on a ROM that has good battery life?
Thanks in advance.
You could achieve better battery life by flashing a different kernel. Try out one of Imoysen's lean kernels for example.
I use Imoysen's lean kernels 3.0.1 same Rom and still got those issue.
The newest build of CM7 RC0.4 has great battery life.
Reboots are probably caused by your radio not the the rom/kernel.

I wish that was the case for me. I was losing battery pretty decently while using CM7 RC0.4. I haven't had a lot of luck battery wise with any ROM I have loaded thus far.

That's a shame. On the new build of CM7, after tonight, I will easily be getting +25 hours per charge.
Where are the releases of CM7? I only see the one that was updated on the first.

MR2 - almost-Stock plainjanev3 with stock kernel.
GB roms are not as good as Froyo Roms at the moment (unless you count sense 3.0 aspects as a performance feature).

Which Rom is better for Samsung Galaxy S3?

Beans or Synergy?
Tried both, really comes down to personal preference. Do you want to deal with the workaround to have a custom kernel or do you want to keep the stock? Both are quite good, it's really up to you.
thanks for the quick reply

I am still kind of new to this but when I feel confident enough I would like to install custom kernels.
Then you might want to start with synergy. Once rooted it's quite easy to install one with a custom thanks to the great devs. Read up and be aware of the IMEI issue but that's only with CM based ROMs. I'd back it up just in case anyway.

OK so i installed synergy and I am pretty sure I did it correctly. Everything is still there and when I go to settings>about device the build number is synergyROm v1.4.
Neither. Stock.

you did it right!
Next is flashing a kernel! I'm doing that now on synergy's 1.3.
Side note though I noticed you have 1.4 apparently the kernel's that people were using for 1.3 aren't working with 1.4 so read up on that before you try! Good luck in the future!

Yes be careful flashing imos kernel on synergy 1.4 because it seems almost all threads I have read report having bootloop issues. It is recommended to flash imos kernel on synergy 1.3 Instead. Imos kernel is built into beans newest version and you can also overclock on beans. I'm personally on synergy v1.4 cause I like the brightness adjustment in the drop down drawer.

It should be noted that if you install BusyBox from the play store than imo's kernel works on 1.4. I'm running it right now and it's working great.

Are random reboots resolved in CM?

I'm getting frustrated with the daily random reboots of my G2x running stock gingerbread. Does CM 7.2 resolve this? I've been holding off waiting for the official ICS to release so I can install CM10 but I'm getting impatient... Also, do I have to reinstall all my apps, and is my data erased?
Thanks!
I don't think random reboots will ever be solved 100% for this phone. However comparing stock 7.2CM vs other Roms I've used for the G2X, it has been the most reliable and stable for me. The phone still crashes or reboots once every 2-3 days for me usually, when I'm running cpu/gpu intensive apps but almost never when its idle.

No, I haven't yet. I think that i will sometime this weekend. Are there any good guides that I can follow? The one that is stickied says that it is outdated. I am running the latest baseband and software.
Just installed cm 7.2 with faux kernel 52... we'll see how this goes

Phone Rebooting TOO MUCH

This is really weird as my phone keeps rebooting especially when i'm on a somewhat lengthy phone call. The phone will turn dark and when i move it away from my ear the light will not come back on. About 30 seconds or a minute later, the phone reboots. This is so annoying and am looking for a solution. I heard that manually rebooting your phone can help out. Any other solutions that can help with this situation?
Ok,
Are you rooted?
If so, what ROM are you running?
What Kernel are you running?
The more details about the phone, the better

Need a bit more information. Rooted? ROM? Kernel? Up time before reboots start?
Sorry GIS but had to head out for a minute. Anyway I'm rooted and running Slim 2.9 ROM. My dumbass pretty much leaves my phone on and now think that's why I'm having this issue.
And in using the kernel which is included in the ROM, which is the Bedalus Marmite kernel.

Have you tweaked anything on the ROM like over clocking, under clocking etc. If so please specify to what extent as well.

No basically i have kept everything as is. No over or underclocking. And don't know if i have said it already but i am rooted. Now i'm running the SlimBean ROM and thus far it has not given me any trouble but still am wondeering what could be causing the problem.

Random reboots are a reported thing with Marmite that is being worked on. Try flashing another kernel like Matr1x. Us the CM cfs version. Flash it and let it settle in and report back in a few days. Marmite uses bigmem and not every phone agrees with it.
Let me know the turnout.

To mdean and Useless Sniper:
Again i want to thank both of you for your help. I flashed the Matr1x 24.0 CFS CM kernel and thus far it's working out great. granted it's only been roughly 12 hours but i had made calls without any reboots or any problems. I'm still keeping my fingers crossed but i'm sure with all the knowledge and info you guys gave me, this will probably be the end of my troubles. Thanks again.
Sorry about that. Reboots seem to be solved. Next version of slim should be fine.

[Q] Slower 4G after installing EB 4.0.4 AOSP Build 5

hey guys! first timer here. I just installed EB ICS 4.0.4 Build 5. Everything is great but it seems that my data speed is far slower than before on the stock 2.3.4. The speedtest results in a lower than 1MBPS, like around 700 and lower. It used to be at least 2 MB. Is this an issue with anyone else? Also, what information do you need from me?

EB ICS rom has many issues! Maybe this is just one of them....
I was afraid of that! Also my phone still freezes to where I have to remove the battery in order to get it to work.

Ya I installed the latest CM7 for it, it seems ok but I get random acts of weirdness like freezes. And my by drains hard, but its probably all the push stuff. I got to see what other ROMS are out there besides CM. Thanks dude!
