[Q] How do I turn off pie controls? - HTC Desire S

Hey guys,
I know the proper location for this question is the rom post but I don't have enough message to be able to post in the development forum :\
I've installed this rom:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1672537
the only problem is that I can't figure otu how to turn off pie controls.
could anyone help please?
Thanks

I dont know if you can really turn it off but you can set the trigger area to none which means you can't activate the pie.

Yh i think in settings/toggles somewhere u can deactivate them.
(I seen it somewhere in the Desire thread)

You can deactive by setting trigger area to none.

Thanks!

[Q] Phone does not vibrate

Hey guys my phone will not vibrate, just wondering if there is some thing I can do to test it or try. Could be hardware or could it be some software related thing?
Appreciate any help
Thanks
If your on the stock software and not some dev port then yeah the phone should be vibrating. Is vibrate enabled under the settings (sound section) ??
Go exchange your device.

Thanks for the help/suggestions guys. Guess it's hooched Samsung really needs to work on their QA.

Buttons illuminating?

When using the Desire S should the Home, Menu, Back and Search buttons be hilighted? Is there a setting to turn it on if there is one as my eyes are bad and I quite often hit the wrong button by mistake.

Depends on what ROM you're using. Not possible to tweak it if you're on a Stock ROM.
If you're on a custom ROM, then all ROMs with the RCMix tweaks have a feature to keep the button backlight on all the time.
Just go to Rcmix tweaks>Display Options>Backlight settings>Set to "Always On" and you're done.
Hope that solves your problem.
Hi just to update it seems it`s not possible to highlight the soft keys(that is the Home, Menu, Back and Search keys) They are automatic, triggered by the ambient light sensor and from my point of view this is very annoying.
As I am running the stock rom at the moment I am looking at the market to see if there are any apps that will solve this. If anyone knows of any that can do this can you let me know?
Thanks

Like I said... Not possible on stock ROM. In my knowledge... There is no app in the market that can let you do that... Least of all, without root.
Beamed from the Dark Side using xda premium.
Another update, just found an App called Screen Filter it`s primary function is to control screen brightness but is has an option to Enable soft-key backlight. Just the job for me

stick a tiny black "electricity tape" over the sensor...that`s what i did and now i have them permanently on....the sensor is located a little above and to the left of the name HTC at the top...you can test exactly where it is using your fingertip
Ha why didn't I think of that.Sometimes the best solutions are the easiest ones

[Q] Lock screen unlocks just by tapping

I was wondering if anyone has come across this before. Instead of having to slide to unlock I can touch the screen anywhere and it simply unlocks the phone. I want to have to slide to unlock. I have not installed any kind of 3rd party lock screen app. I have the HTC One. I do have a custom ROM but I have not altered any of the lock screen settings.
Thanks for the help all!
Cheers

Unfortunately not. Still searching the web and hoping someone on these forums has a solution. If I do manage to find a fix, I'll post it here. Please do the same
Can't find anything on the web. Funny enough everything out there explains how to make this work via apps. I know this problem has nothing to do with an app.
Fixed it.
For me it was the pebble app. I turned off it's accesability option.
Check accessability on you phone under settings, see if anything is enabled that could be causing it. Worth a shot. Worked for me.

Nice man! For me it was the light flow app. So that sucks. I wonder why that causes the lock screen to behave that way.

Now just have to figure out why the apps don't want to play nice with the lock screen.
Are you running a custom ROM or still on stock?

I posted a similar question myself and was redirected here. I had Tasker and Pebble in the accessibility menu and my slide to unlock became touch to unlock. It would be nice to know why the apps dont play because now I have to choose between having Pebble and Pebble notifier send stuff to my watch, or actually having slide to unlock...

Definitely would like an explanation as well if someone out there has one.
No idea why an app could cause the lock screen to completely misbehave like that.
Can't find anything online either.

Light flow HELP ME

Why am I having so much trouble getting light flow to work? I just had it working fine on my galaxy Nexus so I definitely know how to set it up but no matter what I do it won't work.
Are there any special settings I need to turn on or off?

Make sure Light flow is checked in accessibility settings. So currently, having an "always on" notification for any one setting will mess with the other settings. Dev is working on a fix. other than that it should be working.
What exactly is happening on your end, you didn't give a lot of detail?

You answered my question, all my notifications had been set to always on.

No prob. I emailed the dev, he says he is working on a fox, so it shouldn't be too long now.

I've been using lightflow since my OG Droid so I know how good the dev is.

Yeah for sure. The main reason I thought I was doing something wrong was because Droid life posted an article that gave me the impression the "always on" was working.

You should be starting to get the update now. I've done a workaround for always on as the LG drivers just don't accept it. I'd class the "always on " option for the Nexus 5 as being "almost always on"
Updated the app now, will see how it goes
I still seem to be getting notification light illuminated after the notification has been read.
Addmitedly I don't have it running as a foreground service.
Anyone know of a way to get rid of the lightflow notification in the pull down shade? I like to keep that area clean for notifications. I know other apps offer an option to disable that notification.

Uncheck the option that is "Run as foreground service" or similar.

Does that disable the app or any of its features?

[Q] Notification light timeout

Not sure if I just haven't found the option yet but can we extend how long the notification light blinks after a missed call, text etc? It seems like it may only flash for 5 or 10 minutes. I know it seems like not that big of a deal but I would like to know a way to change it. I'm dispatched for work through text so not having to constantly pick up my phone to see if I have a missed call or text would be ideal. Thanks in advance!
I think this is the 1 issue with the phone that baffles me. Such a great device, but such a strange setting by HTC.

I know. Such a stupid little thing but it drives me nuts.
Well after some more homework it sounds like this has been going on for a lot of HTC phones. This is my first one.Is there an app or something that can bypass this 5 minute timeout? I'm assuming it's probably something I would have to be rooted for since apps like liteflow don't seem to work. Any help is appreciated.

Light Flow has a "HTC alternative direct mode", and it states "Phones such as the latest HTC One control the LED differently when running in Direct Mode. This option should enable flashing the LED." Granted... I am unsure if you need root for that option. Same with Direct Mode. Only option I am sure that needs Root is, well, Root mode, lol.
Sadly this is all I can think of that might help you, sorry.

Thanks man but I don't think this will bypass the 5 minute HTC timeout.
It does for me. You just have to set the light to never time out was going for about 8 10 minutes before I noticed it was blinking sounds off its about bed time
