I have a unlocked Rogers/Fido GSM Razr HD XT925 Trying to sort out the differences between this unlocked Gsm phone and my Gnex - seems I get better signal from the Gnex but I like the razr more- I run on edge 2 network and bounce between 3g/4g/h+ when not using wifi. How can I increase my signal, reception? Currently running Elemental X Rom 4.2.2 its as good as Stock was for me just would like better signal.

Hi,
I saw many threads here and elsewhere about using the Razr HD (I assume that the HD and the HD Maxx are the same except for the battery, right?) without Verizon or outside the US.
I've learned that as far as I need a 3G network I would probably be OK. My carrier has small HSDPA 2100 coverage but most of the network is 2G GSM 850 and 1800.
As I'm going to buy the phone in USA and then ship it here I want to be sure.
Therefore I would like to flash the HD Maxx so I won't need to unlock it to use it and crack it to get root.
So, Is it possible to flash this phone? Has anyone tried?
Thanks
I managed to get to some thread (Rootz Wiki - I can't add links...) but I don't understand if it's a development version or a stable version. Will it help me?
do the phone have the same radio?
because my wife has a razr m and i was able to flash the Australian radio on it and now it works with tmobile and att
so just wondering if this is possible with the razr hd
here is a link to the razr m radio unlock
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2017987
i think it's the same
so if i flash the same radio as i did on the razr m it should work
it works i have it working on tmobile usa

But does it get 3G / HSPA+ signal?
I'm excited that you got it working on Tmobile, but does it only do EDGE speeds on Tmo? Does it do 3G or HSPA+?
So far only got Edge working at 2G speeds.
Have not managed to have it see 3G or 4G or even H.
I was right under a 3G area and 4G Lte Area ,.... nothing
My area is T-Mobile Houston and its been Refarmed already also
so for information for others that are interested, like me, what radio is flashed on the razr HD so an att or t-mo SIM works? links would be nice for the step by step...thanks.
This has been achieved -- more info available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2022296
I need a long lasting phone with a big battery, and I like that the Razr HD can be upgraded to Jelly Bean.
My question is, is there a variant of the Razr Maxx HD that will work on T-Mobile's HSPA+ network?
Rather, is there in existence another version of the Razr Maxx HD other than the one available from Verizon (as in, a version that doesnt' have CDMA at all?)
Thanks.

You would have to get a Verizon version and flash the radio.

Carrier limitations in USA
Message me and I'll send the link to the instructions. All I got to say is best phone ever
Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using xda premium
I bought one and I am currently using it with my carrier, that uses 850 and 2100 bands.
All you have to do is to check if the phone has compatibility with your network (I think TMo's 1700)
I usually check the network compatibility on the gsm arena site
Rocking it through the N4

NO HSPA... UNTIL YOU ARE IN A 1900 3G AREA ... LIKE LAS VEGAS, NEW YORK OR OTHERS 3G 1900 Market !
Yes
I've got the razr hd verizon version and it will work with T-mobile at those speeds. At least around Dallas. There is a post that describes how to do it with a program called DFS. It involves changing a number under tab NV from 01 to 00. I think it was under the razr m posts. I took me two times but it did work. Look for T-Mobil AT&T GSM on Razr M page 19. It will work for an XT926.Ver.4.0.4. Mine is not rooted. Yet. Good luck. Quick note. Verizon has the phone blocked for use with American GSM networks. There is no unlock code. There's a lot of sites trying to sell that crap and it doesn't work. Find the page and use that method. Or you can use the Aussie radio flash. That will work too without unlocking, rooting. Yes I did it.
I've been flashing a few 4.2.2 and 4.3 ROM's lately and all of the sudden I don't get 4G LTE anymore, it just sticks at 3G when there is complete coverage. Any suggestions?
Hi,
I bought Droid Maxx from ebay and I'm using this phone outside US, everything is perfect 2g, 3g and H+ just working fine, but I noticed very poor signal compared to my HTC One. For example on H+ network 3 bars for HTC and just 1 bar for droid maxx / FULL bar on HTC while Droid only 2 or 3 bars !!
My previous Razr Maxx was very strong I was getting H+ while my HTC on Edge but not the new Droid Maxx
Any idea? Maybe changing the radio? if yes can you explain how?
Your help is appreciated ...
Any help

Don't look at the bars. Look at the actual signal levels in the About menu. The signal bar logic has been modified by moto to support 5 bars, so it may not be entirely accurate.
