Hello friends. Its been a while I don't start a thread, so here is a concern I have and hope some of you could help with. There is such a thing called DVR (Digital Video Recorder) which a Tornado does by nature of the cam software. There is also an "IP Camera" which transmits live video over internet and can be seen remotely over an internet browser.
I'm into the RC(Remote Control) airplanes and today I was flying over at a beautiful site by the beautiful beaches of Aguadilla, PR. A thought blew up my mind. Would it be possible to make my phone transmit video over GPRS and be seen remotely over an IE Browser?
Just imagine how cool it would be to attach my phone to my RC Airplane, and to be able to share the view with friends over the internet. Whats even more fun would be to be able to leave my PC at home recording (DVR) off the IE IP website where I'll be transmitting.
Well if anyone knows of a program that could do such a thing, or even if it would be possible to do it with the Tornado Cam, please speak up. I have a broken Tornado that I could use for this purpose.
Thanks for your comments!
@ MOD If you feel this should go under hacking and dev please advice and we can move it there later. I'd like to get first feedback from Tornado Users. Thank You.
Have a look at http://livecast.com formally comvu
@Mark
I installed on my TouchPro/Raphael and it works great. Let me know when you do the live cast (add me to your member's list).
Have a good day.
Sounds awesome, I'd like to see the results of that. However, not be a naysayer, but pushing data like that over GPRS? I dunno, even at its fastest with EDGE it can be painfully slow, I would guesstimate that you'd get around 1 frame/second at a low quality at best, I could be wrong though. Never hurts to try!
If you're interesting in FPV (video on flying stuff, etc) check out this project:
http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=768115
This guy made a cool quadcopter and there's some links around to camera stuff, not really related to phones, but still cool.
I already downloaded and installed livecast. Will test as soon as possible. Video should be fine, I'm thinking of at least 5 FPS Edge is pretty fast down here. I just need to turn off audio. Live cast transmits both Video and audio. and I only care for video at the moment. But, chances are I'll buy a MiniSpy Cam that has been adapted for RC flying. Only thing I don't like so far is the range which the highest I've found so far is 300m. I usually go around 5-600m. So that's my hold on that option. Still thinking of it.
hi all, I was wondering if anyone knew of a program like flixter? its for the iPhone (aren't they all!). basically it is an app for for movie trailers that's will are let you check local cinema times and even book tickets all through the app! is there anything like this for winmo?
thanks in advance!
il bump this one would like to have the flixster app that the (dare i say it) iphone has really nice interface and easy trailer watching
JR
I have see one in the market but it was a paid app so i skipped it. Easiest thing to do(what im doing) is to go ahed to movie tickets dot com put in your zip, and save that as a favorite. Then put that as a shortcut on your phone works like a charm for me.

flix works well: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4038062
Hi,
Try IMDb mobile. It does the job and it's free from Omarket.
Just wanted to let everyone knows that playon works great on honeycomb, even though it's not officially supported yet on it, I bought the premium license cause I had the basic one and to my surprise, everything streams and works great, hulu, Netflix and so much more, local wifi and remote wifi too.
I hope they will update it soon to support honeycomb with higher definition and better bitrate. But for now I love it, plus there is a plugin like tv show stream that pulls all shows and stream them.
What is the app for? Any link?
Edit: got it! Cool stuff, I'll give it a try!
I have a play on subscription and i can view all the titles but when i click to view video, it says failed to load

I use PlayOn and even though the video quality is so-so and the videos take awhile to buffer it does work for me.
just got an email from Fred at playon support and honeycomb support with better quality is coming soon
PlayOn will currently work for Honeycomb, but we are working on changes that will improve the quality. As Honeycomb hasn't been out that long, we have had to adapt, and this should be out in the public soon.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.
Thank you for using PlayOn!
Take care,
Fred

I paid for the premium support too. I sure appreciate how good their tech support it. They usually respond very quickly.
I paid for a one month sub to try it out but I found that I like Plex more. Just a personal preference. It would be awesome if PlayOn & Plex could be combined.
i think that once flash gets better and smoother on android, the picture quality will be better from playon cause it uses flash, i have it on my ipad2 and it runs smoothly and great image quality, also on remote wifi too, which plex couldnt on my pc
Play on app on Galaxy 10.1

Try doubletapping tthe screen. It works for me in full screen, but not when it's smaller (on TF, not Galaxy).
It works...
Thanks...I did that by chance and was glad to see it did work....Can't wait for Honeycomb Version.....Would be nice if it had a better looking Graphical Interface.
In the stock and even custom Sense ROM's, there is a Connected Media option that picks up the media servers I have setup on my PC's (Tversity) to stream to my DirecTV receivers automatically; my phone picks up my servers and can play my videos/movies with no problem.
On the CM7 mod, I have no such option and have been looking for one; I've tried a couple apps, one called UpnPlay (I think) and it would see the servers and folders but would play nothing. The other couple I tried had the same result. Am I doing something wrong?
I realize this may seem like a petty thing to complain about, but it's something I really like on the Sense ROM, but I like everything else about running CM7... is there a happy medium?
Thanks,
-Mid
This obviously is a very particular issue. It sounds like you have looked into this as much as you could. Unless you find someone who uses this same feature that could provide some more insight, you may have to consider going back to a sense based rom if this is a deal breaker for you.

Download skifta from the market. Works great.

Yeah, this is definitely a dealbreaker, as my connected media is something I use pretty often. I recall trying Skifta, and it had the same result - my servers populate, but no videos play; they list fine, but when you tap on them, nothing happens. Ugh!

Huh, they played for me, except the mkv's, I haven't tested them. Most of my vids are from TOTALLY LEGIT SOURCES and are divx encoded AVI's.
What I'm looking to do with my SGS3 is WIRELESSLY mirror the audio, and video of my phone to a HTPC/Mac. Apple via "Airplay"allows for this in iOS and it works BEAUTIFULLY using a client on the pc/mac like AirServer, or Reflection. I find it difficult to believe that this is not available on an Android platform. The problem is, searching for such an app almost always results in finding remote desktop apps n such. Watch a video using Airserver or Reflection, and you'll see what I'm looking to do. I've seen media player apps that'll send videos/audio, but not by mirroring the actual Android device. I know I've gotta be missing this somewhere.
There's an app called MirrorOp Sender that sends the video to a connected receiver/client, but it's VERY slow, and does not support the transmission of audio. MirrorOP Sender also requires the device to be rooted. Not like that's a huge deal to me, but perhaps to someone else.
Thanks in advance!

Xda tv did a review of an app that does this. Look on their youtube channel. To late for me to find it. I'm sleepy.

Thanks Here's the video I think you might have been talking about. I was unawar that TeamViewer allowed for the control of a phone FROM a pc. I thought it was only to control a PC FROM a phone. Thanks! But it should be known, though this is a seriously cool option. Audio still does not transfer over the wifi, only two-way video communications.
And so the hunt continues for something like AirServer and Reflection on Android. Don't necessarily nee to control it from a pc/mac, but would really like a wireless audio/video presentation platform for Android.
Bringing this post back to life in hope someone has a new idea. Can someone please explain to me why the ability to mirror audio and video from Android to a PC/Mac isn't available yet? Thanks

I am looking for the same, Although the other way. I think there are bunch of apps to mirror your Display but audio is not possible due to some limitations in Android framework.

I too was looking for an app like this and honestly sat there and started to wonder why i actually needed it.. can you explain a senario where this make sense and why an app that beams audio/videois not a good enough solution. hell i am with you on having more options including a featuer like airplay mirror, but maybe untill such application exists i can suggest good enough work arounds because like you i spent MANY MANY hours trying to figure out how do do this mirror thing with no dice. but i did find nice workarounds..
Holy hell, finally I think we might have a solution. I haven't tried it yet, but clearly, we aren't the only ones in need of this feature.

Looks promising. SplashTop 2 works other way round but is too damn pricey.
Just reviving this thread because I am also looking for the same thing. That app posted in the last post, BQScreen, as far as I know doesn't differ from the one the OP stated. Both apps don't transmit any audio, they just mirror the screen. MirrorOp is kinda cool because you can control it both ways, you can also use your mouse to click buttons on your computer to control your phone. Keyboard also works so you can reply to all your whatsapp msgs from your computer but at the end of the day it doesnt transmit any audio.
I use a galaxy note 2 and have never had the need to do this before because both the tvs in my house that get the most use happen to have a computer in the same room and I have them set up to just send the computer's screen to the tv screen and use unified remote/xbmc remote to do whatever I want, thus ending the need for allshare cast/apple tv devices which in my opinion offer an inferior experience than a full fledged HTPC.
The problem is that I have a tv in a room in my house that is getting more and more use lately and it doesn't have any way of showing netflix or youtube or all the files I have in my media server, etc. Basicaly, no access to the internet and I bought the tv right before all the smartv craze started. I am now on the search of a way to mirror my phone's screen (or anyones) to that tv in order to give that tv some added value. Of course I would still need to have some kind of reciever in that tv to get it to work so I really don't know what I am searching for. In the end I will probably end up purchasing an allcast dongle and use it specificaly for that tv, that way all tv's in my house would have access to all the media in my house and the internet but if anyone here has another option, I am all ears.
I have google tv and youtube connects nicely, i'm not sure if that's what your looking for though. I just connect and it plays the video on my tv.
Reviving this i case the 4.3 framework has changed to allow this functionality. If someone with knowledge of such things can chime in that would be great!
Bumping this topic, years have gone by and still no solution?
mirror from koush is the closest thing ...
it's meant for airplay so you can just install airserver on your pc
Chromecast
Google Chromevast
Looking for the solution. AirServer works on Windows and promises Google Cast support but it looks like it only casts audio from Chrome desktop tab. Google Play Music app discovers the chromecast device but music doesn't start
