I doubt anyone has tried it, other than possibly djrbliss, as we currently still have a locked bootloader and no way to flash it (via custom recovery).
Edit: Just realized that you're maybe talking about the Canadian variant?

While your statement is correct concerning the AT&T version, model SGH-I337, the OP was specifically talking about model SGH-I337M, with the"M" being the operative letter. This model is generally for Canadian variants, which all have unlocked bootloaders, and now with custom recoveries, and it appears, ROMs.
Peter

Correct Peter, all this numbers and letters are sometimes missleading and confusing.

I tried it. I actually didn't realize this wasn't the CM nightly. I had issues with it (particularly the on-screen navigation buttons, and incompatibility with GAPPS). Note I am on an i337m

There's a thread in the T-Mobile S4 forums.

Verizon Bootlodr Fixed?

Hey every1, I was wondering if there was a working stable way to root the VZW s3... I know a lot of devs have been working on it and I hear there coming out with an update to fix it, but for right now is there a way? I have sprint but the service isn't good where I live so I'd like to get Vrzn and be able to flash cm10, any input much appreciated
Thanks

Rooting and the bootloader issue have virtually nothing to do with one another. Here's a copy/paste of something I wrote:
ExodusC said:
The Verizon (and pretty much every) Galaxy S3 has had root since virtually their release date.
The Verizon version does have a locked bootloader (see #3), and there is going to be a "Developer Edition" released directly from Samsung with pretty much no warranty, and it will be completely unsubsidized.
The bootloader lock has not stopped us from flashing custom ROMs or custom kernels. See below.
Here's some source links for you, in rough chronological order:
The "Root66" method for easily obtaining root
Original proof-of-concept showing custom kernels can be booted
Standard install of CyanogenMod 9 via kexec demonstrated
Functioning 3G/4G data on CyanogenMod 9 demonstrated
Unofficial guide to installing CyanogenMod 9
CVPCS states locked bootloader is a non-issue
Ongoing research & development on the locked bootloader
I could go on and on, but as you can see, development of custom ROMs (both TouchWiz and AOSP based) has not been hindered by the locked bootloader.
The community has pulled together on this, and developers from non-Verizon carriers have been tons of help in all the progress that has been made so far.
Many people, including myself, do not support the idea of the Developer Edition SGS3, and I personally doubt it will have even a tiny fraction of the community the consumer version has.

In short a locked bootloader will prevent flashing custom kernel, hence why CM10 is not officially supported for VZW yet. It is possible to flash other ROMs and there are already a few different versions of the stock rom that have been stripped or debloated. Some people have also reported a workaround for flashing custom kernels but its a little more tedious. As far as rooting goes, you can do everything else that rooting entails (TB, tethering, etc.) just fine.

What do you mean "reported?" Read my above post- we have an effective workaround for flashing custom kernels and ROMs.
All it requires is flashing a custom recovery (just like you'd do with any phone) and then simply flashing the custom ROM (just like you'd do with any phone).
The auto-kexec and custom kernel are built right into the .zip package.
Yes, it's not perfect, but assuming the CyanogenMod team is okay with the workaround, I don't see why we wouldn't get official support.

How do I unlock the bootloader on S3 running 4.2.1?

I have searched far and wide and cannot find a bootloader unlock method that will work with the Galaxy S3 that has already been updated to official 4.1.2.
The EZ-Unlock app will not work for 4.1.2 (only 4.1.1 and before)
The open1your1eyes0 method that was updated in February 2013 does not work either: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1974114
What do I do? Until I get my bootloader unlock I cannot do anything.
Phone is currently Build Number: JZ054K.I535VRBMB1

Your bootloader is locked forever, unlocking isn't an option.
If you want anything other than stock you'll have to use Safestrap recovery and modified stock ROMs like everyone else with locked bootloader Verizon S3.
Safestrap is deprecated. At least their site says dev. Has stopped. There's probably a fork of it on github somewhere, but any safestrap you find won't be by the original developer.

I don't know, I use the Verizon S3 ROMs on my device but it isn't a Verizon device, but I spend a lot of time in the Verizon S3 forum, I see new users looking to customize their device all the time.
Here's the download for it

Read this thread though, if you have encrypted your data, it will cause bootloop. Yes, it isn't supported anymore, BUT, the Safestrap still available still works.

No, you can't flash AT&T firmware. That would surely brick your device. You can port the AT&T firmware somewhat easily, they are mostly the same but have different modems and a few other minor differences. I can link you to a thread for porting the US S3 variants.

If you're on MDL and want MF3, I recommend rooting and installing a custom recovery while you can, and then flashing the neutered MF3 update. Root is in the General section, many MF3 ROM's can be found in Development sections. Make sure to read the whole OP in whichever you go to before doing anything.

Yes, you may be able to just flash the MF3 modem after a factory reset. That would hopefully resolve your current issues and open up the LTE bands.

If you want the MF3 rom and/or kernel, check out this thread. If you want just the modem (baseband), check out the latest addition, File #11 in that same thread.
Otherwise, I think this thread has been hijacked enough, and the original purpose has been served, in my opinion. The MF3 source is practically useless to anyone except Devs that want to build their own kernels.

Could the kernel source also be useful to those looking to find an exploit in MF3 (to unlock the bootloader or something to that effect), or is the kernel too high-level for that sort of thing?

Pretty sure it's too high level. It might be useful for finding a root exploit, but that's been done already for MF3. It wouldn't be useful for finding a way to unlock the bootloaders, but the only slim help it could find in this area is perhaps providing clues to understanding "aboot" more, and how it checks for signatures on, and loads the kernel. But even still, that's a longshot. TBH, anyone who might be looking for exploits here should already be aware of the source code's existence, plus this sort of exploit would brobably be little different between MF3 and MDL.
EDIT:

WIND Mobile M919V == 1337M Update

So I took a gamble and after checking several things.
ro.build.fingerprint=samsung/jfltevw/jfltecan:4.2.2/JDQ39/M919VVLUAMG1:user/release-keys
I went ahead and used the CM (Cyanogenmod) Windows Installer and it put on the jfltecan build onto phone. Flashed it, got one small issue during recovery (it seemed like it was spinning) rebooted phone, everything works great!
I confirm you can use the jfltecan build on M919V. I tried to use T-Mobile and even compiled CM from scratch with any changes from Wind's kernel source (from Samsung's Open Source tree). Went into boot loop, went to CWM recovery, deleted data/cache, still boot looped.
Since the M919 you would think is close to M919V but this isn't the case at all as I found out today jfltevw is a AT&T variant (nothing on google mentions this!)
So now I have Cyanogenmod 10.2 (nightly snapshot from Nov 14th) and installed ViPER4Android FX, all working all good. The device shows 3G for voice and H+ for data which seems to be correct for '4G' service.
So go ahead it should just work for you!

No, M919V owners can use the M1337M ROM is what I am saying with the M919V baseband left alone.
You can flash the modem of I337M 4.3 on M919V and enable AWS Frequency, then head over to i9505 and flash customized TW 4.3 rom ! So there are no data drops on 4.3 TW roms!
Or, wait for Wind 4.3 TW update, which will be soon.
How Can you activate aws on 1337 modem ?

I looked up your specific tutorial, it definitely will not work.
That only works on the international model. As a general rule, never trust a guide unless it says it's specifically for the Verizon galaxy s3. It's locked down much tighter than any other s3 models, and many alterations that can be performed on the other variants will often brick this model.
