After just selling my Infinity on eBay, looks like ASUS just released a teaser for Computex for June 6 of new transformers coming our way. While they showed previous products, the design looks almost identical to our Infinities. What would you want in an upgrade?
For me they HAVE to fix the storage speeds after a couple of years being plagued by these issues. I would keep the 1080P display and just upgrade to a Tegra 4 which looks very promising in performance. The reference Tegra 4 used very high speed SSD from Sandisk and hopefully ASUS took noticed. They are putting an huge push towards tablets as it is their largest growing market, so throwing their weight behind a new transformer line makes since as it is truly a differentiator from the other high end tablets on the market.

I don't think anything about that preview screams Android, but it's totally possible. Computex seems like just as good of a place as any.
I don't think I see Asus jumping on the Tegra 4 bandwagon. This is purely speculation, but I think someone would have reported rumblings somewhere if that were the case. Asus made a big stink about having the first available Tegra 3 device. I think they would have at least thrown around a few renders and buzzwords if they were excited about sticking with Nvidia in the mobile space.
In the US the Snapdragon platform makes more sense. The whole industry (in the US, anyway) seems to be moving that way, and Qualcom has a proven track record with LTE integration. Remember that the data enabled Infinity was using a dual-core Snapdragon. I think it's more likely that we'd see something with the 800, especially since Qualcom is just gearing up to ship them now.
But if we're making wishlists here, I'd like to see something built on Intel. Silvermont sounds plain nasty. I know nothing is going to be announced in the near future, but I'd like to see what a true mobile x86 chip can do with Android. Particularly if they decide to be cool about bootloaders. I'm not holding my breath, but a guy can dream, can't he?
While I am excited about the prospect of a new Transformer tablet (though it may be something else), I would not expect to see any new products from ASUS in store in the near future. I am still waiting for the Transformer Book, which was probably announced nearly a year ago!
I woulnd't be exited about it either way, seeing as it is now so far above my budget I wouldn't be able to afford it anyway; plus my Infinity works perfectly well the way I want it to. (The only thing that bugs me is USB transfer speed, and it's equally low on my supposedly-not-bottlenecked SGS3. So it's MTP, not I/O And that's software-based.)
And between a new tablet and a new phone, the phone has priority for me. That low 1280x800 screenres and the (for my taste) smallish 4.8" is driving me nuts!
I suspect it'll be the W8 variant of the Infinity, actually. So far all the other W8 tabs are more on par with the TF300. (And the Vivo had a dualcore, so not even that.) W8 is now mature enough to require a high-end tablet in the market.

The teaser picture also shows a stylus coming out of the tablet.
A Tegra 4 or Snapdragon 800 Transformer tablet with the same screen as the Infinity and a stylus input similar to the Samsung Note family, with the I/O issues sorted out, would be a spectacular tablet for media consumption and productivity.

The Note 10.1 also has the ability to run 2 apps side by side. That is an awesome feature that I would like to see in future versions of Android.
I'm never buying another Asus tablet again if it isn't a Nexus. The Infinity is laggy and buggy constantly. I'm going to have to put CM 10.1 on it just to get it to work properly.
I hope they at least make it so that their tablets work properly before announcing more of them.
We've known the main issue for quite a while and the community has done a great job finding workarounds to the issues as best they could. The I/O issues after a few years of the Transformer series is inexcusable. I'm possible thinking of going with another high end tablet myself from another company, likely a Tegra 4 one (the games of the Tegra platform are just better than what anyone else is doing. Don't care on my phone, I do on my tablets).

Actually, judging from the size in the video in relation to the other tabs, it looks to be 8". Maybe an 8" Transformer? Would be a tad smallish, though.

Now if only it had a MicroSD slot.. And a Dock... And an extra battery... And a USB port... And an SDcard slot...
I'm sure the Nexus is faster. It's also completely useless for many of us.
I would love to see a new transformer on the market with the amount of problems I've seen on mine.
With that said I love the design on this one and lately my tablet has became a decent little powerhouse. It has a little lag on it,but that's not too big of a deal as I mainly see it on the home screen and 2d intensive games.
Sure I would love a nexus 10 but as discussed multiple times it also has its problems. As for me being a poorish college student with a beautiful tablet I can deal with the lag.
As for a new transformer I would love to see a new one. I mean they do have a fairly unique design with these things and when they work right they are beautifully quick. I had to install cm10.1 (the later builds) to get this speed but who on xda actually keeps their devices 100 percent stock?
Anyways enough with the rant. With the vivotabs coming out we need a new transformed. Hopefully with more ram, less bottlenecks, and possibly with a snapdragon instead. Tegras are nice but I see problems with them and non-tegra based games and stuff. I have yet to find a tablet design that beats the transformer line. The note is nice but I still like mine better and love the camera on it
Well looks like HP just stole some of the transformer thunder.

Seems promising to me and looks pretty cool (I like the look of the buttons). Hopefully ASUS comes strong with their offerings. HP has the chops to be a major player, they just had to get their executive issues fixed. They were the largest PC maker and can return to that and challenge Samsung, ASUS, and Sony in the tablet market.

lol you beat me to this. I was about to suggest the same thing (HP Slatebook X2). If HP does this right, they may have a real chance of building a successful product, but I suspect the camera might not as good as the tf700. My tf700 has taken some really decent photos and it can easily put my Sensation to shame (I find the camera on my tf700 even better than the Note 2, but obviously I am not the best person to judge). .
SNAPDRAGONNNNNNNN 800. I'd kill to have one in a tablet.

I used to be obsessed with the notion of a transformer mini, hoped the 370t/nexus 7 was going to be just that, with a full-sized dock and maybe a bezel to fill in the gaps made of front-facing speakers. I resigned myself to a 10" some time ago. Not sure if that happening now would make me happy or sad.

Personally I wouldn't touch an HP with a ten foot pole.
I used to repair computers for a living and the product I saw most in my shop was HP.
Lots of hardware issues.
Asus, IMHO, is one of the best for hardware stability, whether you are talking desktop, Laptop or tablet.
The only time I ever saw an Asus product was for software issues. The hardware lasts forever.
This is just my experience, though.

At CES 2012 things gone crazy when Asus CEO Jonney Shih and nVIDIA CEO Jen-Hsun Huang stepped up on stage at nVIDIA’s press conference and teased a 7-inch unnamed ASUS tablet. This new tablet will come with Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich and will be powered by a quad core Tegra 3 processor. The party doesn’t stop here this cool monster will be available for just $249..........

I think tablets are finally getting to the price/power range to where I find them desirable. This thing looks awesome, but I can't wait to see what else will come from CES.
I've been holding off on buying a Tablet(between my phone and the home pc, really didn't see a point of it) but I think this just might have seduced me.
will be keeping my eye on this one.
curious to see what the Kindle Fire/Nook crowd's reaction to this is...
on a side not... "ninja core" ???
I can't wait til all these new tablets start hitting the market
Mmmm
It's look beautiful
Hopefully it's a little more ...ahem..."polished" in quality than the Prime.
That forum and it's owners are blowing up with complaints lol.
I know I'm looking forward to the release of this. I've been holding off on a tablet myself, but this has instantly won my affections. I'll be buying it on launch day.
Another thing,
I'm tired of seeing 7 to 8" tabs in the same price zone as their larger counterparts. Hopefully Asus sets the new standard and the other big companies (i.e. Sammy, Sony, Moto, etc) follow suit.
I'm still disgruntled Motorola priced the Xyboard 8.2/10.1's so high for what you get...and a locked bootloader.
If only phones followed suit.

That's why they have the "new" version of the Prime coming out. Better screen and a better back to help with those connection problems. Should have been that way from the start. I'd be mad if I had the Prime right now.
ASUS
Now you are talking. I do think $400 for a tablet is too pricey. Finally Asus is giving us something to cheer about.
imagine if Asus came out with a keyboard dock for this like the Transformer...
I guess I can wait a little longer to buy a tablet. I am curious to see how the competition will respond. I hope for a flood of Tegra 3 7 and 8 inch tablets in this prive range. Glad I didn't buy that Nook Tablet. Although if I had, the news about the bootlocker workaround is good to hear. I know it isn't final but I knew you smart people could, and will figure it out.

They can't really agree on whether they're mad or not.
There are users saying that it doesn't matter that their tablet doesn't function to spec, because they don't use GPS, and their Wifi/BT is "good enough".
Why'd you pay $500 - 600 for this thing if mediocre was good enough for you? Seems the only thing they're clinging to at this point is the spun aluminum back.
That said, I'm returning my prime that has yet to be delivered. Going to probably buy either this or the Acer a510 / a700. Leaning toward the Acers though, since Asus doesn't really deserve my money after this fiasco.
perfect remote control
Those cheap 7-inch tablets would be a perfect match for controlling my AV-System and my squeezebox devices!
AFAIK Tegra 3 is nothing but an overhyped crap. Still remember how hyped the Tegra 2 and the fact is the Hummingbird SoC is faster than the Tegra 2? I wonder how Tegra 3 will stand up against next gen SoCs such as the Qualcomm S4 and Exynos.
maybe it's time for me to get one of these tablets.
still not sure if i need one thou....
My HTC HD2 stills rocks with Android thanks to XDA Devs and between office and home PC's i don't know when i will use the tablet
thanks for the tip thou, i'll keep an eye for it
I'm gonna snag one of these once they become available, great price for a tablet

Asus good?
It's kinda funny to see nVidia not being a leader in tablet graphics even though I'm so used to seeing them as a leader in PC graphics (alongside ATI, of course)
Anyway, I'm kinda worried about the choices Asus will make when putting this tablet together. Like some of their notebooks have touchpad issues because of their choice in manufacturer, I just hope that this tablet doesn't have some piece of hardware that will turn out to be a troublemaker.
I don't know bout exynos but I've tried other tablets at CES but none of them were as fast and butter smooth as tegra 3 devices. Specially once they're using HDMI to TV.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1451699
I was a diehard qualcomm fan and praise exynos after playing with sgs2 but can't wait for the 370 to come out...I think Tegra 3 is gonna be the one to beat.

Depends how you define "best". Do you mean the thinnest, the lightest, the fastest, the best screen, the best audio,......no. It's not.
It's definitely near the top of the bunch, but I wouldn't call it the best. That title would probably go to the Transformer Pad Infinity or whatever they're calling it. It will however give you the most value for your money.
It's essentially a Prime except 1mm thicker, a bit heavier and with a less bright screen. All the GPS, bluetooth, wifi and quality issues have been dealt with here though, plus the Micro SD and regular SD card slots are a tad deeper so the cards won't go flying anytime soon.
So while in terms of raw specs it isn't at the top of the line, it's pretty damn close and it's pretty cheap considering what you're getting. I remember last year I bought the 14mm thick Toshiba Tab for more lol.
One of the best I had, but I can´t compare it to the prime.
Fantastic Wlan and GPS, For me the screen is nearly perfekt, if you root it and put one of the custom roms out there on it it´s smooth and fast. And on the bench you are not so far away from a prime, when you OC your Tf300. So for me: One of the best for that price.
Thanks for the replies.
I have thought about it, and my most wanted features are:
Processing Speed: Looks like tegra 3 is the best right now. I do like the processor, and I think it makes more sense to have that in a tablet vs a phone because the tablet will have a bigger battery. I see that the new tablets coming out have 2GB of ram. I'm pretty excited about that.
Display: I do want to do some basic photo editing on the tablet, and look at my pics taken with my phone. 1080p would be nice, but not necessary.
Hardware quality: The Prime's issues really bummed me out. I hope Asus does better with the Infinity.
Updates: I was looking at the Galaxy Tab 7.7. but it's still on Honeycomb. This is unacceptable. Good thing Asus is quick to update their products.

What tablet or tablets out have 2 gb of ram? As far as I know the tf300t is the only one that has the best ram with 1gb ddr 3 ram. People were talking that the Acer a510 has ddr 3 ram but it doesn't. The Acer a700 with 1080p screen still clocked at 1.3 has 1 gb ddr2 ram that isn't out yet but pre order price of 449.99 is great. The tf700 will handle the 1080p screen much better with it being clocked at 1.6 and ddr 3 ram. But I heard it will come out next month at 499.99 for the 32gb version.
For the money and functionality you can't beat the tf300 unless you can wait a month. I think the tf700 will be a monster at 500 bucks.
You all convinced me. My TF300T is coming tomorrow. $515 with the keyboard and one day shipping.

I did about the same but had to do some big bartering with price matches etc and multiple ads etc.
If they had released the red one first I wold definitely buy one of these and upgrade my tf101 but after seeing the infinity... I'm gonna happily wait for that
I think its the best tablet in its price category. It beats out other tablets in the 300-400$ range as far as hardware. But it'll be hard to compare it to other, more expensive tablets that are out/coming out.
You can't beat the tegra 3 and DDR3 right now.

asus is going to release the pad infinity which also has that same resolution too, but its screen is IPS+, for acer i think it's just IPS, and according to androidauthority, it will be released at the price $499, i'm hoping it's the wifi only 32 gig version, so if that's true, you just need to spend $50 more to get the pad infinity, i can't think of anything to "complain" about it at that price.
also the pad infinity has better specs, like flash camera, 8-megapixel camera on the back, 2 megapixel on the front, dockable,...
imo, acer products are not good, many people say asus products are always better than acer. i would never consider buying an acer product

I really dig my TF300, just sucks that I got it right when something newer and better is about to come out. Then again, that's every time when it comes to tech devices.
Regarding the Pad Infinity, I'm reading from multiple websites that the price will most likely be around $785USD. That's way to pricey for me but I'm leaning towards keeping my TF300 anyways. Compared to the Acer, the screen is really the only big difference. Not sure if I want to trade something good for something that could be faulty just for the screen.
For me it was the price.
I can tinker with it as much as I want to without being overly afraid of bricking it.
On top of that it's got really nice specs.
Good processing power, decent screen, awesome sound.
And cheap!
It's bang-for-buck galore. Not the best but definitely really, really good for the price.
No comparison between the tf700 and the a700. Besides having the ips+ display, keyboard docking ability, better camera with flash, the tf700 will have the latest tegra 3 version and clocked at 1.6 with the 1080p screen. The a700 is running the same tegra 3 version as the a510 at 1.3 running a 1080p screen. The a500 is also running ddr 2 ram as the tf700 should be running the same as the tf300 ddr 3.
For 50.00 more I pick the tf700. So wait for the tf700. 1 month away at the most.
P.S. I read that someone inside Asus said the tf700 will come out at 499.99.

Ive had A LOT of tablets, and currently own 2 TF300's, and the galaxy tab 7.7. And love both for different reasons. The 7.7 has the best screen out of all Ive had, but as you pointed out the lack of updates from Samsung sucks, but I still love it. And once it does get ICS Ill love it even more. But for the 10" market the TF300 is hard to beat. After several TF300's with dust, hair, fuzz under the screen, and a dead pixel I finally have a good 32gb. I also have a 16gb thats currently being repaired at Asus and the repair is being paid for by Best Buy. Ill be returning that one for a refund when I get it back. But despite all this I love my TF300.
I need the tablet for games, Internet and music and camera.
I am afraid to buy the Nexus tablet that he was small for games.
I dont need portable tablet because I have the galaxy s III.
I need the tablet for trips
I love Asus tablets only.
I store the 7 inch and 10 inch.
10 inches in my opinion better than the games
But even 7 inches looks nice.

Completely incomparable. Different beasts.
First, go down to your local retailer and decide if you want a 7" or 10" tablet, then come back and ask about comparisons.
I've used both 10.1" tablets and 7"/7.7" tablets, and let me say: the experience is very different. 10.1" tablets are much more expansive, allow for many more widgets on the home screens, run ALL apps with their full tablet interfaces, and generally are more productive. That said, 10.1" tablets are also larger, heavier, less portable, and thus not as nice for things like ebook reading.
So, it comes down to how you'll use your tablet. Will you want to carry it around with you everywhere and use it for longer periods of time (where you have to actually hold it in your hands, vs. propping it in your lap)? Then maybe a 7" is right for you. Do you mainly use it in a few places and want to be able to show as much information on-screen as possible? Then maybe a 10.1" tablet is for you.
Both will run (most) tablet apps, and provide a good experience. Which is right depends ENTIRELY on how you'll be using it. So, there's no automatic answer for anyone--you need to think long and hard about what you want a tablet to do.
Or, if you're wealthy enough, just buy one of both.
I would buy both of them:cyclops:
Just ordered a Nexus 7. Funny, but it's much easier to spend $250 on impulse than it is $500. There's a lesson there, I think.
Lack of sdcard on the Nexus 7 is a killer, I'll probably lean towards the 700 down the road.

Interesting question - I'm considering both!
I know I really want a 10" tablet but £600 (estimated!) versus £200 is a HUGE difference...!

exactly. seems to be the norm now with Google devices. No sd slot on the galaxy nexus, and now this. They prefer people to rely on the cloud. and lets not forget what xoom owners went thru with their sd slot.

The galaxy line is exclusively from samsung. It's called Nexus 7.
I already ordered one. I think for gaming the best experience I've ever had is on a 7 inch tablet. Much easier to hold and plus tegra3 games, and I would go with the nexus 7

Lack of microSD slot is killing me. I will never buy Kindle Fire nor Nexus7. Prefer Nook Tablet and Asus Infinity
Does anyone know when the Nexus 7 arrives in Europe? I'm no longer getting the infinity as the 32GB version won't be here before September.

Yes better with microSd but you can have some capacity with Usb host.

I tend to agree. With good enough performance, a smaller tablet seems better for gaming than a larger tablet. I've been checking out the Toshiba Excite 7.7, which is Tegra 3, 1280X800, and 7.7", so very close to the Nexus 7, and I'd rather game on it than any 10.1' tablet I've tried. Just lots more comfortable.
The Excite 7.7 is way too expensive at $500, and has some screen issues. So, I'll be giving the Nexus 7 a try. If the screen has decent white balance and temperature, along with the good brightness and such everyone's been talking about, I think it'll make for a great gaming and ebook reading experience.
Even if it does run a phone-like UI...
"More Nexus devices are to come"
An interesting article: Google's Patrick Brady tells us how the Nexus 7 went from 'start to finish in four months'
So what's next? Brady repeatedly referred to the 7 as the "first device" in the Nexus tablet range, saying "we're always iterating on Nexus devices." That presumably means more are to come, but the important bit here isn't so much that Google's just out building cool tablets on a whim. Rather, they're building reference devices where they see a need.

Transformer Pad TF700T ,, if money isn't an issue
One thing I have been thinking is that almost always after a Nexus Device has been released the manufacturer release an own branded, but slightly better version for a bit more wedge. (Desire, S2, S3).
I suspect in the not to distant future an Asus 7" tablet that is basically the NX7 but with micro sd and MHL will probably come out for about another 50 quid.
That said if someone from the scene came out and said that USB OTG was definitely working properly on the NX7 i'd buy one tomorrow.

For android tablet, I believe only real contender at this point is Galaxy Note 10.1. If you are ok with iOS, new Ipad is another. Each has their own pros and cons and I don't think any one of those is completely superior to the other two. So you have to prioritize what are the important factors or decision making factors for you.
For example,
I asked myself do I like iOS or Android? I had iPad 2 and multiple android tablets. I simply preferred Android, so new iPad was out.
Then is FHD crucial? After using FHD and non-FHD screen, I just could not go back to non-FHD. So I ended up arriving/technically coming back to Transformer Infinity. At this point, I am extremely happy with my decision especially after Jellybean update. But I have no doubt people can be as happy with either of above two tablets as well.
So those are three I think you should focus on as long as your budget permits.
The dark horse are the Windows 8 tablets, but none of them are Full HD except 1100+ Samsung's mere 5 hour battery, much heavier tablet. So again, without even trying they weren't my choice but could be yours.
Get the iPad 3.
Android is for the adventurous Apple is for the mundane...

Your only choices are the nexus 7 and the Kindle HD 8.9.
All other tablets are enormously overpriced (the ipad especially). If you feel like paying for extra features (like the bigger screens on the infinity) then by all means, do it. With the infinity (or galnote, but I hate amoled) you're getting the best tablet. With the nexus or Kindle, you're getting the best value.
I exchanged my Infinity for the Note 10.1 and I like the Note better. It's just overall better (quality wise). Granted, the low res screen takes some time getting used to (though AFAIK the Prime has the same screen as the Note).
I can only agree with everything said above. If you buy now, on Android side, you have the following choices: Note 10.1, Nexus 7, Kindle Fire HD (though I wouldn't recommend it since Kindle Fire does not give you 100% Android experience). If you are willing to wait for another month, you will get an onslaught of Windows 8 tabs to choose from (Microsoft will officially Windows 8 on 26 Oct if I am not wrong). On the top of my head, I would be looking forward to ASUS Vivo Tab (imagine the combination of the Infinity and the Note 10.1: Keyboard dock + Wacom digitizer+ Office 2013). If I were you, I would definitely wait for next month, it does not seem that long.
Thank you all for your feedback! I think I'll hold out one more month and see what's on the way. Not a huge fan of iOS so iPad is out of the question. I'm liking what I hear about the note so far. When is this next Asus tablet supposed to come out?

I like my 64Gb Infinity. I'm a movie buff, photography buff, and I like to travel. What sold me was the HD screen, the great battery life, the microSD slot, built-in GPS, and the HDMI out. What I miss is not having a built-in USB port, not having Cell service, and the built-in speakers kinda suck. I have an iPad through work, so I understand the convenience of always having internet access.
The lack of USB port was easily solved by buying the USB port adapter. Even more important, the USB port adapter provides power to the USB port. This is required to attach USB card-readers, hard disks, and USB speakers (solves the crappy built-in speaker problem).
Cell service (3g/4g) on a tablet has always been a take it or leave it feature for me because of the expense. But I did recognize spots where it would have come in handy. Most mobile GPS mapping apps require an internet connection, which is difficult to find while exploring a new city (Venice). Though, I have since found mapping apps that allow you to download and cache maps. I also signed up for a new startup service called FreedomPop, which provides an inexpensive (500Mb/Month for $5/month) 4g MiFi type device that works in the US, giving me an internet connection wherever I roam in the US. The cool thing about this service is that there are no commitments.
One issue that cropped up on a recent trip was a problem with writing to an external USB NTFS drive. This has since been resolved in the current Jelly Bean update.
I looked at a number of different Android tablets and it came down to the Infinity and the Galaxy Note 10.1. What sold me in the end was the HD display with IPS mode for bright daylight. 1080p movies look stunning on it and photos look great. The Infinity has replaced my travel laptop and my travel backpack is at least 3lbs lighter...
You might also consider the recently reported-on Nexus 10, which may or may not be the rumored Sammy p10. Still waiting for that one myself.
Need help deciding what tablet to get I currently have an iPad 4 retina 64gb, and I like it but have come to the conclusion that I only like it because the apps are optimized for the tablet screen, have the note 2 and love it and want the same experience on a tablet instead of waiting around for a jailbreak to get somethings that I can do on an android tablet. I like to play video games and the moga or plug in an Xbox 360 controller is a plus for me widgets and all that fun stuff I like. The choice of tablets that I'm considering is the Asus transformer infinity with keyboard dock or the nexus 10 leaning more to the infinity because with the keyboard dock it can replace my laptop with splash top connecting to my Mac mini it is a laptop at all times. Things that concern me is screen resolution, and tablet optimized apps any help is much appreciated.

Except for the fact that the Nexus 10 has a) availability issues and, more importantly, b) quality control issues that seem even worse than with the 700. You furthermore do not get the added battery life because of the powered dock, and less storage options. Why do you put forward the N10?
More on-topic, though: it really depends on preference, as Thats OK already said. I really do like the battery-powered dock and the extra oomph that gives -- I have a relatively long commute and irregular shifts, so it pleases me a lot not having to recharge every 12 hours, or whenever a wall socket is available somewhere. The screen resolution is fine -- I happily read technical (medical) books and articles, for which the radiographs, charts and stuff all come out really nicely, and even the private reading is a pleasure (text is crisp, contrast is good). The movies and documentaries or TED talks I regularly watch are great, too.
Nah. I'd pick the TF700 if it came out now if I had no other options. However... and we also discussed this last week -- you really should use the serch function, you know -- someone I forgot the name of mentioned that soon a bunch of new models of several brands will be announced soon, and it might be prudent to wait it out a bit. You might shoot yourself in the foot when buying into an aging system, no matter how well it performs. Then again, in tech, there's always something better just around the corner, and if you wait, you can wait forever.
Good luck deciding!
You should wait and see the new Samsung tablet line-up (new models should be announced soon) before buying anything, well at least this is what i would do.
Search with Google for Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 (this link is in italian, but you will get it - > http://www.everyeye.it/tech/notizia/ecco-la-line-up-dei-tablet-samsung-per-il-2013_148080) .
MWC is coming tomorrow and I am sure the right thing to do now is WAIT!!! Many new awesome products may be introduced during MWC, which may include tablets. I was hoping for a new Transformer tablet, but it seems that ASUS will introduce a new Padfone, which technically can still be considered a tablet.
While you may end up with a better tablet if you wait, that same logic would mean that you would never buy a tablet since there are *always* newer and better devices around the corner. Even if the "perfect" tablet gets announced tomorrow, you then need to wait another few months before actually getting your hands on it (if you are lucky) - and even then, how knows what will happen (could end up being a dud). You just can't tell the future!
My advice - go to Best Buy today, mess with a few different models for an hour or so and buy one NOW! We are not talking about purchasing a new house here - it's a tablet that costs ~$500 that will be worn-out and/or outdated in a year or two anyway. Satisfy the urge and go get what seems best - you won't regret it - any modern tablet is an extremely fun device to use!
It's easy for us to tell you to wait - we already have a tablet that we are thoroughly enjoying!
Just my opinion....

IMO 32 gb for the internal memory is plenty to hold your apps and some media. I put all the space-intensive stuff, music, pics, videos on external SD/micro cards anyway.
The dock, providing a good keyboard, extra battery, USB and extra SD card slot is one of the main selling points for this tablet.
If you want a dock, the TF700 is your best choice - no doubt about it.
If you don't need/want the dock you have quite a few other choices for a great tablet out there.

I thought about waiting myself. However, I wanted Tegra platform, and it looks like the earliest a Tegra 4 TF would release is in July. Side by side, I don't see a difference in the quality of the screen between an ipad 4 and a TF700. OTOH, the TF700 screen gets very very bright for outdoor usage.
As to storage, I've got a 32GB TF700, a 32GB microsd card installed, and the keyboard dock with a 16GB SD card in it; that's roughly 80GB of raw storage here and I can easily expand it. With the dock, battery life is phenominal. The tiny keyboard is taking some getting used to, but it's very handy. In fact, I haven't even turned my old dell laptop on since I got this. Just haven't needed it. I use a PS3 dualshock controller and a micro-hdmi cable for emulator gaming on the big screen. It's pretty cool. Haven't played any of these SNES games since I was a teenager.
The touchwiz launcher on your note 2 isn't available on a transformer. Asus has it's own launcher, but it's very nice. I suggest you try one out in Best Buy. They have a sale this week, the TF700 is $429, and the KB dock $99. That's like $120 off full price. Though, I think they change their sales on wed, so I'd decide quickly.
I don't regret buying the TF700 one bit. It's a good tablet/laptop replacement, and less than half the price of Asus's own ultrabook with a touchscreen. The only thing I'm really sacrificing is a full windows platform. In all the time I've had my old laptop though, I never really did anything on it that I couldn't do on this tablet, and this tablet does it for over 8 hours longer, lol.

Seriously, fck samsung and there crappy-soft-plastic build quality. Anyone who would consider a samsung product does not know anything about build quality. The ridiculously high resolution? Not worth it. Why push a higher pixel count than the retina display if you cant see pixels beyond retina display. All of the android tablets anounced for this yr do not improve on the infinity except for vizios tablet that uses a tegra 4, and who knows when that will actualy be released. The tegra 4 is expected to ship on devices late this year. Of tablets on the market a non-stock infinity handles them all with no issue. I can confirm this bc i work at a tech store and have tested them all against my infinity. No android tablet can replace a laptop like an infinity. Since buying mine 8 mos ago I havent once used my old laptop.

Just want to make a slight correction, minus the keyboard dock, the Sony Xperia Tablet Z has much better hardware specs than the tf700 (Snapdragon S4 Pro, 2 GB RAM, even 4G LTE). Since it is going to be released in May in the US, it will be a mistake not to consider it.
Dang must be a local best buy sale, mines still at $499. Though about the xperia but really like the idea if the dock. With the Ubuntu coming out it could make the tf700 VERY interesting.

The problem is that you can't get a keyboard dock with the Sony, which is one of the TF700's main selling points!

Absolutely not - a bluetooth keyboard is not even close to a true keyboard dock. A true keyboard dock is integrated with the device - it becomes part of the device. It includes an a battery to charge the device, a USB port, a SD memory card slot, customized buttons on the keyboard, a trackpad with two mouse buttons and even doubles as a stand for the tablet (which even charges the tablet!).
On the other hand, a bluetooth keyboard is just another separate accessory that you have to lug around, actually requires batteries instead of providing a battery, has no expansion slots and is, in general, a pain in the a$$ to work with (I know, I've tried).
So, as you can see - while they do make bluetooth keyboards that would work, they do not provide anywhere near the level of integration or functionality of a true keyboard dock. It's not even close.
