4EXT recovery is not available for s3. You can try TWRP recovery.

I have a rooted Sidekick 4G and have downloaded the Smooth Maximus ROM onto it, as well as ROM Manager. When I looked at the how-to replace the stock recovery binary for CWM it doesn't allow me to overwrite the recovery, so I can't get CWM to boot. Any suggestions? I seem to be out of options. Thanks to anyone who can help!
ROM manager should have the option to flash CWM, need to do it twice then request that it boot you into recovery
do you need clockwork mod recovery for rom manager on the evo 4g
Yes, you need a recovery. Although you can flash ROM's through ROM manager, it is not recommended. You also need recovery in case you get stuck in a bootloop. It will allow you to restore to your nandroid backups. There are also mods and hacks that can only be installed through recovery.
thanks but i have ra recovery right now its says i need clockwork to use roms on rom manager do i have to use clockwork?
Oh, well then no. As long as you have some form of custom recovery you are good to go.
We have TWRP vs2.1 installed and would rather go back to CWM. Is this a simple task?
I have a SGS2 (GT-I9100G) and have it rooted and a custom rom flashed. I'm still slightly confused on the CWM recovery installed. I was under the impression CWM was installed when I rooted it with SuperSU and then loaded a CWM zip. However now I have flashed a new kernel and the CWM recovery has changed. So my question is, is CWM installed in the Kernel? Also can this be upgraded without flashing the kernel? Lastly, I have version 6.0.1.2 however on the CWM website it lists 4.0.1.5 as the latest version!? And CWM Rom manager lists this as installed...
All in all CWM confuses the hell outta me! Any clarification would be much appreciated
A while ago i rooted my phone and put a custom rom on it, liked it the got sick of it then flashed back to stock . a day or two later i instantly regretted this decision so i reverted back. This was a very drawn out process because my phone was being dumb etc, i initially tried to flash TWRP on it which worked , but it never flashed roms correctly for me , so i flashed CWM on it and that worked. flashed a rom , and it worked. I now want to flash a new rom but when i boot to recovery , TWRP is still there but when i am in Rom manager, it says CWM 6.0.3.1 is installed.
Is there a way to use odin to flash this back to stock and just flash CWM on the so i can get on with my life and flash new roms?
TL;DR
there are 2 recoveries (TWRP and CWM)
TWRP is accessible but doesn't work
need access to CWM
is there odin or a type of software i can use to solve this ?
I know i ****ed up pretty good, any help would be greatly appreciated!
Download GooManager from the Playstore. Then from GooManager run OpenRecoveryScript which will flash the latest TWRP.

I'm pretty sure that GooManager will install only TWRP. I would start there to fix your problem, since GooManager will install the recovery easily. Once you have TWRP you can switch by installing CWM if you'd like. For that, see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2305721
