[Q] App backup - Asus Transformer TF700

Are there anyway to backup my apps to their original location on the desktop so that I dont have to move all the apps everytime I update the firmware?
thx

If you want to keep the layout of the launcher (home screen), then back up the data of the launcher (com.android.launcher).

[Q] ROM Installer Question

I have a mytouch slide and i just unlocked the phone running a custom rom (Cyanoginger 1.0 xD). I was wondering, how do I change my custom rom to another one without reseting my settings and having to start from scratch?
Use Titanium Backup (Root) to backup your apps + data. If you don't buy the full version, you'll have to accept the installation prompt for each app individually. Homescreen widgets will not restore, you will most likely see "problem loading" in place of the widgets.
Don't forget to do a nandroid backup as well.
Thanks
Ill try that.

Well, if both the ROMs have the same Sense version and Android version, you can change ROMs by just wiping dalvik & cache instead of performing a full wipe.
This way, all your applications and settings will stay intact!
I am aware of that. I do flash the cyanogen nightys for this reason, but if I DID want to try out different rom versions altogether this type of app would be helpful
Use Apex Launcher, it has a backup feature that lets you back up all your settings and your homescreen layout to the SD.
go launcher also has a backup setting feature

Application to backup Folders and desktop setups?

Is there an application that will backup how I have my desktops setup, folders on desktops and what is in each folder as far as shortcuts are concerned? When you flash a new ROM, this is the most irritating part to me.
In the market:
Rom Toolbox (don't forget backup-restore misc data)
Titanium Backup
Nandroid backups are usefull too, i had just sometimes restore data through advanced restore feature with none problem over a new rom.
Do all your backups on an external sd.
With these three ones, i had never lost any data, even when i transfered all my datas to a new g. Note after killed the first one.

I am only interested in being able to have my desktop info reset up without redoing them all.
If you restore a Nandroid backup, with the system data it borks the new ROM install.
I just want something to restore my desktops, the rest I have covered.
you mean want to backup the widget? No software are able to do this task even you use other launcher with backup/restore feature.
as mentioned by Le [email protected], titanium backup will back up your launcher/ desktop layout & folder content, however, the widgets will appear as a blank/ empty placeholders when you restore your setup, if you're using Nova launcher you can tap the widget placeholder to restore that widget.
also as jasonkhoo87 said, no app will restore widgets completely, this is an android limitation.

Most of them are shortcuts, not widgets, or folders with shortcuts(app links)
and itis a mighty irritation.
I take screenshots and redo after a full wipe.

If u want to backup the shortcut, it is possible if u use other launcher. Not for TW launcher. I'm using Go Launcher and is able to restore the shortcut. I believe other launcher as well are same.
