Hi all, I was trying to root my HTC One XL (UK if that makes a difference) and its current status is dire to say the least...
I had unlocked the bootloader and installed twrp on it before, however I stupidly did a factory reset before a rom was successfully flashed on (roms had installed on it before but some like ParanoidAndroid stuck in a boot loop and some the touch screen was unresponsive...
Currently the phone can only sit in the HTC boot screen with the red writing 'For development purposes...'
It can be booted into the stock recovery with these details

The problem here is that you've done ABSOLUTELY NO RESEARCH, and as a result have no idea what you're doing.
S-ON + Hboot 1.14 and above, requires that you "fastboot flash boot boot.img" where boot.img is extracted from the rom you're flashing for most ROMs. The ROM thread's OP will usually indicate otherwise. This can be avoided by attaining S-OFF
AOSP ROMs touchscreen won't work with 2.14 Hboot unless you downgrade the touchscreen firmware as an update to the touchscreen firmware was done on this hboot but Source has not yet been released. touchscreen downgrade/upgrade thread is a sticky in original Android development section.
People take the time to create guides and stickies just so you can ignore them. Thanks.

I tried several method that call for install various *.zip from Recovery mode but none of them fixed the problem
Any help or suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

PS: dont say adb is not working ..you can do everything from bootloader ..i suggest you to read the guide once/twice/thrice
Thank you very much ganeshp! Once I replace recovery to latest version 4EXT I was able to boot into stock ROM.
I take it from there
I do not know how this happened but somehow, my phone's bootloader now says:

It used to be unlocked, though. I was about to flash the latest TWRP when I noticed this peculiar detail. Consequently, I can no longer flash any recovery img - Currently stuck with TWRP 2.4.3.0. And wait. I've already tried HTCdev. It didn't work - the token was written and everything but no "disclaimer" appeared on the screen - Details in attachment. So, it's still locked.
Help me, maybe?

Solution:
It was quite simple actually.
I went to Blue6IX's Development Related Mirror Site and grabbed the 1.44.1107 S-Off PG59IMG Hboot. I renamed it to PG59IMG.zip, sent it to the sdcard, and installed it via bootloader. It's now fully unlocked. Thanks everyone!

Try to do it manually. Like with the whole fastboot OEM unlock etc. Maybe that tool isn't working right. It says your unlock token is 0kb... so is it even there

I believe if you're storing your binary in your root directory ( C:\ ) that location is assumed if it isn't declared. Give the command " fastboot flash unlocktoken unlock_code.bin " a try.
Fixed it.
Hi Everyone,
Sorry this is my first post and I spent quite an amount of time trying to figure this out. I am currently back on cm-10.1-20130722-NIGHTLY-evita and now whenever I try to install the newer nightlies my phone gets stuck at the HTC quietly brilliant screen.
I believe I am s-off, superCID with TWRP 2.3.1, HBOOT-2.14 and unlocked (sorry still new to all the jargon). I have tried flashing the boot.img (like I always have had before).
Whenever I flash a newer nightly the phone gets stuck on the HTC quietly brilliant screen, then reboots. Any ideas? I did not have this problem in the past.

You need to run the latest ruu, seems like you just have the new hboot but not everything else. update your stock firmware and it should work fine. also try flashing the latest twrp 2.6.0.0.

You're S-OFF. You don't need to flash the boot.img any more. Try what the poster above me recommended.

Thanks I'll give it a try, I thought I did update the RUU a while ago to make the daily's work when they were reissued but I may be wrong.

One day I tried to root and unlock the bootloader of my friends One S, those were both successful so then i thought..why not flash a ROM (stupidly i didnt think about being S-OFF. I flashed CM11 in CWM and it got stuck in a bootloop so i wiped all data/factory reset. The phone is S-ON with an unlocked bootloader. It has a TWRP recovery. The bootloader stats are as follows:

S-ON means you'll have to manually flash the "boot.img" contained in the rom zip via fastboot (Fastboot flash boot boot.img) after you installed the rom via recovery.

problem solved thanks :good:
Hi.
I have previously had CM11 working very well on my HTC One S. To get the carrier unlock to work I had to revert to a stock ROM to apply the unlock code. Now, I am trying to go back to CM11 but facing difficulties.
I used an RUU (RUU_Ville_U_H3G_UK_1.78.771.5_Radio_0.16.31501S.19_2_10.23.31501S.10L_release_258982_signed) and that works fine but I lose root when doing it. I still have s-off and super CID.
Anyhow, if I flash TWRP recovery 2.4.1.0 I can get into recovery and flash SuperSu but cannot then flash CM11.
CWM will not let me flash CM Recovery and if I try a newer version of TWRP or any version of CWM Recovery my phone will go to the bootloader screen thereafter but when I select "Recovery" the phone just starts normally and I cannot get into Recovery at all.....
Please can someone give me some help / advice / pointers.
My head is spinning a bit so hopefully I'm missing something simple.
