What happened to development!!!???!! - Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE

I've never had a phone with such bad development. Do you think it will pick up soon at all? I'm taking a hard look at the Galaxy S4. Sad to see this phone the way it is. I know it can be so much more!!

I think we're getting along just fine. We have a working build of 4.2.2 thanks to the devs here. What more could you ask for, 14 roms that are all JB?

I'm sorry we don't have 15 4.2.2 ROM's which are all the same but have different launchers.
Someone else can do those "ROMs". I don't really feel like making a 7zip ROM, I prefer to build from source.

Truth. This is not a job, all of the devs spend their free time working on this. If it's not moving fast enough for your liking, feel free to contribute. Otherwise, please keep the non-constructive comments to yourself.

I've long since been of the concluded opinion that some people are basically the ROM-flashing equivalent of drug junkies with this stuff. It doesn't matter if what's out there works, or even works for the most part, they suffer withdrawals if they don't have something 'new' to flash and will never be content to finally stick with anything no matter how many different 'flavors' there are to sample from.

OP, instead of saying Thank You to the Development, you ask "What Happened", sounds like you should take up ROM cooking/making and provide to the Community...or just say "Thanks". Either way enjoy your new device...Thread Closed.

AOSP ICS for the samsung galaxy s 4g

Literally every other phone has some kind of beta ICS support. I've never developed a rom but i've found myself with some free time i don't want to spend studying for my ccna and would like to devote it to getting an aosp rom semi working. even if it's only the most basic of roms then someone more experienced won't have to start from scratch.
tl;dr I'm looking into making a sgs4g ics aosp rom and would love any tips/advice instructions that people have to offer.
Start reading the forums !!!
trust me i've been reading i set up my linux box and have been trying to find any info about creating an ICS rom but all i've been finding is stuff for gingerbread. btw this is strictly in my freetime and i'll need to wait till i buy another phone before i start flashing willy nilly on my baby lol so yea it's gonna be a while.
I don't think it was on XDA -- but Android Forums if I'm not mistaken.
There was a team who were making pretty good progress on it but unfortunately they had to drop development on it.
It was a problem of devoting time and bricked devices. If memory serves me correctly. Googling around rather than searching XDA will help you find the thread I was talking about. Because I sure can't. Might've been on Rootz too, really not sure.
I'm pretty sure FB was working on it. That or shutting up all the kiddies demanding more progress. One of those two.

Any idea what the name of the team that was working on it might have been?
testing
ok so it's unlikely that i'll be able to afford a new phone for a while and i'm not too excited to be testing this on my phone so my question is will anyone be willing to try out my concoctions on their device? i'm asking for people with experience recovering their devices here. i really don't want any "My phone is ruined" situations here. i'm looking for testing and feedback as i'm working on a kernel first the goal will be to get the phone to boot with ics.
With only 4 posts you're going to have to prove to others that you're legitimate before they want to try out your releases.
How exactly do i go about proving myself to the xda community?
I mean the people who matter and can help with this little project.
Get a rom out... Hahaha.
ultimately if you dont have the courage to flash it to your own device dont expect others to feel really well about flashing it for you.... (unless your 100 percent sure it wont hard brick them)..
It's not really a matter of confidence it's that i need my phone for work/school. Once i get another i wouldn't mind flashing it. I wouldn't ask someone to flash something that would brick their devices.

I use my primary phone for test flashing. . If you're gonna wait for another phone then don't start deving until you get that phone, or rather don't release your dev work until you're sure it works.

How badly have you ever messed up your device lol?
nothing more than a softbrick when I haven't messed with bootloaders.
Don't you have the unbrickable mod FB? That is an option.

I don't. I just like to think I know what I'm doing half the time. Haha. Trust me, if you stay away from bootloaders it's practically impossible to hard brick.
ICS
@andon21
I saw a link where Team Acid was working on ICS - don't have it off hand
Thats another question will i need to make my own bootloader?

Testers needed for jelly bean possibility(POSSIBLY WON'T WORK)

Mod Edit:
Thread close as it poses a high risk for our members plus if you are sure this will not work..then do not release publicly. Instead ask for volunteers and PM them the info.
Also, calling us this "OK THANKS GAY xda" won't help you neither.
Cheers,

I don't know if this build will or won't work. It may brick your device and it may work. If you are a developer please check the .zip folder and possibly correct any errors. It should work, considering how closely similar jellybean and ICS are. The same problems existing in ICS should still exist here so brace yourself. There are probably even more problems as well. DEVELOPERS NEEDED FOR HELP. please be cautious and aware of the negative possibilities.
Wow I am definitely not going to be the first to test this. If this is JB working with everything that is working in CM9, I will gladly throw it on my device. Who's going to bite the bullet first?
With 3 posts I'm also hesitant.
Yeah i just switched forums though so im new to xda

Trust me i would be hesitant too, this is not my first time building something but it is still sketchy.
I'll test it if someone can at least ensure that it doesn't cause the phone to explode LOL.
Has anyone been brave enough to try this yet?

This is what I'm waiting for. If everything in ICS works from this and doesn't just brick my phone from the start, I'd gladly throw it on my phone.
I would hope a DEV would look at this and see if they think it's safe.Without a known DEV confirming the files will write correctly on the phone I wouldn't touch this......no offence.
Yeah UMMM...
Ok so i tried my own build on my triumph after backing up and turns out it didn't boot the rom so back to drawing boards... I didn't brick by the way so it's a pretty harmless fail at that.
It's umm well

Yeah i hear ya... it is useless but safe as long as you have a backup... but don't bother trying at the time because it is again useless if it don't boot.

Asking for Continued Development of M8VZW

@santod040 I am asking for you to please return to m8vzw Development. These other roms are good but nothing like yours. Your NuSense builds are legendary. So even if I am the only one that actually gives a crap then so be it. But please bring us NuSense7 to the Verizon m8. I understand your frustration but can you please look past and bring the Legend back !! Thank you.
Does anyone know what actually pissed him off?

You know a lot more goes into these things than most people think.
I wouldn't assume anything. Life happens. Devs have to take care of that first. Android is a luxury of time.
Give the guy whatever space he needs.

In the amount of time you wait for someone to spoon feed you your required information, you could have downloaded it, installed and be running it and find out how this works for you.
I have no idea why so many people are so afraid to try something for themselves. If this be the case then flashing is not for you... or is it just most of you have become that lazy.
Sorry for the rant but this need most people here on XDA to be handed everything and not do for yourselves has gotten out of hand.

I do understand both sides to be honest. I understand some people do expect to be "spoon fed" and have no intention of trying anything on their own or contributing. I also understand asking a few question here and there. I personally regret not being able to try every new thing that comes out, I work 50+ hours a week and rely on my phone for work, so I can't always be the first to jump in there and test new ROMs even though I would enjoy doing so.
It's not really my place to point out what was said by anyone in the past, I just couldn't help but notice. Honestly, when I read your original posts, I agreed with them for the most part, but I do see the other side, wanting a few details before wasting time. No hard feelings I hope, this the end of off-topic discussion from me in this thread. My apologies to the OP.
I might test this tonight. Any good? whats working, vs whats not?

Okay yeah, I'll keep testing. But it seems very smooth, and the battery icon settings seem to work, which is nice. I'm gonna test soon and see if speakerphone works, hopefully it does! It seems to have no problem with videos cutting to the end like I've seen with CM and Aicp, so woohoo!

Working great so far. Haven't messed with the speakerphone, but I never use it anyway. The only issue I've noticed so far is video playback in Facebook isn't working. It only plays briefly than stops on most videos. Playback works elsewhere. Could be a FB issue. I've noticed most Nougat ROMs I've used are VERY snappy. This one especially.
Noob question here. What are the steps for going from MM rom to Nougat for the first time?

Development status for U11 Life

I know ETA questions are not allowed, but I'm just curious as to the general development of the phone.
Is anyone still working on this phone (more specifically, ROMs like aosp based hopefully)? I'm not being needy saying people need to do so, but I just want to know so I can decide whether to stay with this phone or not.
It's getting quiet around here...
Edit: I realize it takes a lot of work too. I don't have a good computer at the moment or I'd at least try and contribute. Sorry.
