[Q] Can't mount external SD card in TWRP v2.5.0.0 - General Questions and Answers

I flashed the US Bootloader 10.6.1.14.4 and TWRP 2.5.0.0 zip file on my unlocked Asus TF700t and now when I want to flash the stock ROM 4.2.1 I can NOT mount or check the box for external Sd card, which I could do before in order to flash the bootloader. When I try to install only the internal storage is displayed and not the external option is given.
Any help will be appreciated from this Noob, who has been reading for hours before posting this question.

[Q] CWM not reading external SD card?

I just rooted my TF101 yesterday using Vipermod and I wanted to install a custom ROM on it today. I backed up my current settings using the backup on CWM and placed the revolver.zip file in my external SD card.I wiped my data to factory settings. However, when I boot into CWM and go to install zip file from SD card, the file is not there. It appears that the CWM was reading the data file on my internal SD card. So I tried putting the revolver.zip file on the external SD card but when I went to install it from there it gives me an error saying installation aborted. What am I doing wrong?
Thank you in advance for the help.
What version of CWM are you using?
Roach's version 3.2.0.1 will read from the external sd card
Roach's version 5.5.0.4 will read from the internal sd only
Team Rouge recovery will read from internal or external sd
I am currently running 5.5.0.4 so I guess it should only be reading from the internal card then.
And just to clarify, am I supposed to place the .zip file onto the SD card because when I do so it will not run, and I get an error message saying that the installation has been aborted followed by a dead android. Am I supposed to unzip the file and then place in into the SD card? Or is there another reason why I am getting this error?

Yes put the zip file on the internal sd card.
Boot into recovery and choose "install zip from sd card" (exact wordings might be different).
If it's not flashing I would check MD5SUM of your download file.
This is going to sound completely noobish, but how would I go about doing that?

You can go into the Google Play (Market) and search "md5sum" there's a lot of apps to do it.
Personally I use this
https://play.google.com/store/apps/...251bGwsMSwyLDEsIm5ldC5kcm9pZGNvcmUubWFuZDUiXQ..
When you download a ROM or other files, the dev usually list
an md5sum, make sure the md5sum of the file you download match what is listed.
When a download is corrupted the md5sum (md5 hash) will not match up.
I just downloaded rogue CWM and then flashed that with CWM. Then I was able to access the external SD card and I am now currently installing the ROM.
Thank you very much for the help, thanks given.
yes,
it is important to take the correct version of cwm : 3.2.0.1 by Roach2010 !

Install a completely new recovery.. Try TWRP... download it and place it in your internal memory and flash it.... its one of the best recoveries out there...

CWM defaulting to Internal Memory

I finally had some time today to flash the CWM flashable OTA update and rebooted to CWM however, CWM is defaulting to the internal storage instead of the micro SD card. I've flashed hundreds of .zips and updates in my Android experience and can't ever remember this happening. Though I am admittedly not extremely versed in flashing files for the Transformer so it may be a simple oversight on my part, I can't figure out how to get CWM to see the micro SD instead of internal storage. The SD card is mounted as I can see it with the file explorer and Wi-Fi explorer. I don't see a menu item to mount to external storage either. Am I missing something? A little help would be appreciated.
The only version of CWM for the tf101 that can use the external card is Rouge XM CWM Recovery. All the other version don't have the functionality. There is a link in my sig.

Thanks for your response, however, I have been using this version. I flashed multiple OTA updates using this recovery before as well as the big ICS update. Never had a problem. Just weird it is rebooting to recovery on internal now.

Exactly which version are you using?
Roach's 3.2.0.1 will read from the external micro sd
Team Rouge's recovery will read from both internal and external micro sd

To my knowledge, that version NEVER had the option to read from external sd card.

Help - Deleted ROM

Balls! In TWRP I wiped Data and System and now since all my files are gone I can't flash a ROM.
TWRP doesn't recognise my External SD either so what do I do?
When I turn on the tablet I do get 4 options:
Recovery
Android
USB
Download

when you choose recovery, what happens? you may need to reflash TWRP.

It opens up TWRP but from there I can't see my External SD and trying to select the External SD option does nothing. It's formatted at FAT32 and contains a zip for Clean ROM.

Oh, you are using a SD and not a MicroSD? If so, grab a MicroSD if you have one and insert it into the pad, not dock. It WILL see that.

Sorry, it is a Micro SD in the side of the actual tablet.

If you can't get it to work, connect it to a PC and use adb to push the zip onto the tablet.
Phew! I fast booted CMW and now flashing CleanROM

Flashing rooms from ex sdcard using either twrp or cwm?

Hi everyone, I hope I can get an answer. I have searched and have not been able to resolve. How do flash roms from the ex sdcar? I see in both recoveries the option ex sdcard but when I click it it is blank. My Card is Fat32. Do I need it to changed to exfat to NTFS? If so will custom kernels read that now? I know in the past some kernels could read it. Any help or point in the right direction would be great. Thank
I have my sd card in fat32 and it sees my files fine what recovery are you using?

why not just download the stock rom on you pc then put it on the sd card then put the sd card in your tablet?
I recommend using twrp 2.5.0.0-4.2 instead of 2.6 if you have fastboot that is. It mounts external SD just fine. Tap the internal storage box and you should be able to change to microsd.
