Ok...so I have ordered 3 different adapters for my samsung galaxy note 10.1, ive tried it when it was rooted and on stock, nothing works, basically i get the usb adapter, plug it in, and the ps3 controller works for like 2 hours...then doesn't work on any of the adapters, it stops reading the ps3 controller and says its a high power device and that's it, , it think it stopped after the controller conected to the ps3 again? can someone please tell me what to do? ! im just fed up!
I use a USB OTG cable and find it only works with devices that don't require power from the USB to work. Maybe a ps3 controller needs an external power supply.

maybe, but it's so frustrating because i saw youtube tutorials and tutorials on here about what to do even with xbox controllers, im just having no luck with it at all, doesn't even allow me to do it wirelessly, but usb memory sticks work fine just the controllers...
I'm not sure if this would work but since you have got 3 cables experimenting with one wouldn't be a great loss...
Usb cables have 4 connections. 2 are data 1 is +5v and one ground -
If you cut about half way into one of your USB OTG cables and found the +5v and ground - cables and cut them so your tablet can't see a load then with another USB cable (male plug side only) connected the +5v and Ground - only to the female side of your USB OTG only so it could power the ps3 controller.
Then you would plug the extra USB plug into another USB socket like a PC or laptop or similar to power the ps3 controller.
Just an idea.
Edit: Or just find the red cable in one of your USB OTG cables and cut it. You will have to charge the usb controller another way though.
Your PS3 controller is attempting to charge its battery from the USB port/OTG connector. The port can only supply amperage for so long before protection circuitry kicks in and keeps itself from melting down. Atleast that's the way I would do it if I were an electrical engineer
Yes even data cards do not work
I find I can use memory sticks OK but anything that draws a lot of current gets the (in)famous "high power USB device" notification...
It's a pain in the bum as I would like my $600 Note to use the 1Tb NTFS drive my $400 A501 uses with no problem whatsoever...
Today there are whole host of usb powered devices some are good and some are cheap may be the concept Samsung had was to make sure some device does not pull power more then the tablet can provide and in turn does not overcook some of the components so that have built in a failsafe may be because the single port does multiple functions this has been provisioned
Yeah but when I used a powered HDD it fried not only my Note10.1 but also the portable HDD too... Not happy...
I think it killed the battery to be honest as it got REALLY hot and the battery dropped from almost fully charged to depleted in about 15 minutes... Also killed the digitiser but the pen still worked. Turned off and left overnight and tab was completely dead next morning....
Very expensive paper weight...:crying:
So I had to go out and get another one, this time 32gb 3g instead of 16gb (eating rice and tuna for the next month or 2)...
Won't be connecting another drive any time soon...
thanks
After spending an hour modding my OG atrix lapdock to work wth my Atrix 2 with the specific purpose of being able to plug in a mouse and keyboard or controller to play Shadowgun: Dead Zone... I've discovered two things
1. or whatever reason the Lapdock's USB ports are not read by USB/BT Joy Center - so i cannot use the gamepad to touch mapping function
2. The Lapdock keyboard is being detected as a gamepad - having a game pad present disables touch in shadowgun games... so i can't even use the native mouse to spawn and THEN plug in my gamepad to play.
Does anyone have a solution for this other than getting a PS3 controller to map with Blue tooth? lol I dont have a ps3 I have a 360
Swift replies, much help offered. Best forum evar. Thousands of unanswered threads like this.
Just because your question isn't answered doesn't mean that it is ignored. It may simply be that there are not any other people who have attempted to do what your doing here... the Atrix 2 community is a relatively small one on XDA. I would try post in the Atrix 4G forums, the original atrix functioned the same way with shadowgun and the lapdock... perhaps someone there will be able to help you
I'm not sure if this will work the way you want, but perhaps you could only plug in the hdmi cable and leave the usb port disconnected. Then, attach a usb otg adapter or cable to run your controller. This would require dangling wires because you wouldn't be able to dock it anymore since you would need access to both ports. Or, you might be able to make a little pigtail with the usb cable out of the docking area and to an otg adapter/cable.
Sorry, I don't know enough of the software end to know how to disable the keyboard and get what you want. You could potentially disconnect the hardware of the keyboard/touchpad and then you would essentially have an hdmi monitor and two usb ports.
Good luck!

Actually have the same problem with that game, although mine was a usb controller for pc.
The bright side is that the old Shadowgun actually does works pretty good with the same controller, maybe the guys from Madfinger would apply it later to DZ.
EDIT: Shadowgun DZ had an update, where they included gamepad support.
But it's still buggy with lapdock, you have to chose NOT to detect HDMI cable (in display settings) before you connect the phone to the lapdock, connect your gamepad and use your phone display to play.
I'm sure there is a way to overcome that thing.
Hello guys, So i buy today a Otg usb cable with the hopes of been able to play with my old Logitech Cordless Rumblepad 2 but i can make it work.
I connect the Adapter and the light is on but the buttons dont do anything. is not a battery issue because the Gamepad works on my computer.
And i try other things like a Mouse and Pendrives Otg and work just fine.
Any suggestions?
PD: Im on Stock Kitkat without root or anything
PPD: I Try with my Ps3 Dualshock3 controller and the light start because is charging but anything happen when i press the buttons....
I find the OTG capabilities of Moto G rather disappointing. When I read about Android and OTG before buying this phone I thought most of it would work out of the box. I' ve been struggling with OTG most ofbthe time. Took me ages to figure out where to find usb stick. I would also like to connect a gamepad to my device. Wiimote are no longer supported one new JB as I soon found out and it seems you need to root your phone for sixaxis to work. Too bad, i dont want to buy an extra BT gamepad for my phone.
Indeed Disapointed, and seems like noneones cares too much to make a solution, i search everywhere i know in the internet and i dont find anything, seems like the only gamepad that works right away is the Xbox one controller (that i dont owne). a little help from the developers would be very nice.
at least a straight answer to this subjet...
I have a wired xbox gamepad connected to my pc. Havent tried it yet. Might give i a try.
SO I read on here in a different section that some one did have some luck pairing a PS3 controller via an OTG cable, but here is where I have a problem, the OTG cable I have is mini to standard, not micro to standard, so the option I have would be sort of reversed. I would plug in the charging cable from my phone, plug the USB end of that into my OTG cable where it would connect to my PS3 controller at the other side.
I didn't see how there could be a problem with this but something doesn't seem right, I haven't been able to get it to pair.
I have tried USB/BT Joycenter and scanned for deviced both bluetooth and USB but nothing shows either.
Is there something I am missing? Do I need to reset the PS3 controller because it may be searching for a PS3? Or is it just not going to work and require root.
For the first time ever I have been hesitant to root a phone as I am quite liking this recent android version and just came back from the horrific windows phone. There are obviously still some connectivity issues in the Moto G so I wanted to wait until they were ironed out and then see how I felt about it.
If some one can enlighten me as to what I can do to fix this, Please explain in full, I don't want to just hear "You can't", If I can't, I want to know why I can't and some other people can.
Thanks, David
PS here's what I mean

I bought a OTG Y Cable and tried using this with my Xbox 360 wireless controller adapter, first by plugging the power in, putting the micro usb in the tab and THEN the 360 receiver into the OTG and IT WORKED FOR CHARGING WOO.
However As i started my emulaters I noticed a big lag (Super Mario World the character would jump only slightly and couldnt move much only slight jolts right and left when I pressed those buttons), so i un-Plugged the cable, tried my other OTG (regular not Y) suddenly the same lag! so i restarted the tab and tried using my regular otg it was much better but the lag returned at some point (not as much at all but still noticeable). I unplugged everything (otg etc) and left it alone for a while and tried it again later with the regular otg cable and now slight lag eventually comes only in the NES emu! lmao
Do you think the OTG Y Cable might have done it? what if the power that was coming in from the charger area somehow messed with the power that went out to the xbox 360 receiver and damaged the receiver. is this possible? Weird thing i tried the receiver on my laptop later on and it was no lag! lmao. sorry again just wondering if anyone has any idea whats going on before I decide to buy a new xbox 360 receiver. ill try it again later. One person suggested wifi off as wifi might be interfering but this hasnt happened before ill still try that later tho.
