ROM for the wife? - T-Mobile myTouch 4G Slide

My wife has an S-Off DS that I put Bulletproof on about a year ago. She's recently been having issues so I thought I'd see what the hot Roms were and apparently you guys have modern Jelly Been Roms! Are they stable? Or are there at least any solid ICS Roms to consider? Or is Bulletproof still the go-to stable ROM?
Would appreciate some guidance please.

The problem is that you will get different answers from everyone since no two people can give you the same answer since no two people use their phone in the same way. Unfortunately frequently these types of threads can lead to arguments between supporters of whatever ROMs, so we generally tend to close them whenever we find them. I suggest reading the ROM threads and trying several different ROMs until you find the one that works best for your wife.

[Q] Superlite or Sky ICS (the real thing)

These two ROMs, Superlite and Sky ICS seem to be the best alternatives for moving my Skyrocket to ICS. I'm not going to ask which to install, I know what you will tell me..…try them both.
I'm hoping I can get some opinion as to which is more stable, more likely to install well over my configuration without problems, which is being developed more regularly, which has more known bugs, stuff like that, battery life.
I have a 727R, that's the Rogers Skyrocket, with the latest CWM, the faux kernel, 2.6.35.14, v10m. The radio is i727UCLA3, and the ROM is UCLA3_2.3.6_rom.
I want to install with a ZIP file, without the leaked ICS via ODIN. Not sure if this matters.
So grateful to any advice.

They are both being developed regularly. Read through the threads and you will see development, bugs, and progression.
there are 100's of pages of threads from different periods in their respective developments. It's hard to keep straight what's old and what's current.
I'm looking for help, the same as I would give you if you asked. so please xcrazydx, if you have nothing of value to offer it's better you just don't waste your valuable time replying.
Its easy to try them out yourself. Everyone is different. Flash one, run it for a few days then flash the other.
PS. Don't be a jerk, and just go read for yourself. We don't owe you anything. Quit being lazy!!

Not as simple as you think. Over the last 2 weeks since the leak, there has been talk of Rogers not working, or having to install the leak first with Odin and then install a ZIP rom. Also worried about the radio with Rogers, I've heard problems with that.
So I'm nervous, and I'm looking for some help. No, you don't owe me anything. I try to help people here who I don't owe anything. It's just the decent thing to do. It's why we have discussion forums with places for questions. And how is it lazy by asking people to share experiences? Jeez, this place is turning ugly. Try to remember when you were new here.
The whole thing about it is, if you don't do the reading, you will most likely end up writing repeat questions because you didn't feel like doing the reading to fix any little issues you may have with a ROM. Reading first is like getting free experience.

You asked about 2 specific roms. If you don't have the time to read through some posts you shouldn't be here and you shouldn't be flashing anything at all. I help people all the time, but this is something you must do on your own. No reading = you asking stupid questions that have already been answered multiple times.
I gave you a courteous answer and explained they are both worked on regularly by the devs.
Which is not what I asked. Why don't you go away. I can say for certain you've turned me off this forum.
Jeff, I have read both threads completely. I don't understand why I can't ask a simple question here about experience with Rogers phones on these two ROMs coming from Gingerbread just to get confirmation that there are no major issues which were first reported when the leak came out.
And I don't understand why people who don't want to answer, feel they have to come her and criticize.
Didn't even ask about smooth ice by rem... Which i think is super awesome too... The long and short is this, all the roms are built from same base so not really any huge differences

I can give you my opinion if that would help. I had less problems with sky ics. None are perfect. But both are better than stock.

I can say for certain that you are lazy, rude, and incompetent.
Right back at you.
LTE service no longer working
I have changed the apn settings to lteinternet.apn and nothing happens. im on the new release from the real thing
Everyone has told you the same thing, read the thread. I even answered your question about which ones were being developed regularly. I don't know what your problem is. Other people called you lazy and a jerk, yet you lashed out at me and I did nothing but try to help you.

Hahaha, I tried to help. Without reading the threads of the roms in question one cannot make an educated decision on which one is best for your needs. I even answered one of his questions. I don't get what his problem with me is.
If u want an opinion. Sky ICS. Then remove more Bloat if you want and make it more "super lite" my "opinion" is Sean updates more often and listens what people want. But it is so easy to just flash both and give both roms a try and see what "you" think is better.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda premium
Both roms are based off the same ics leak so in that regard they are equally stable. Just install the from that has more of the features u want, because from a majority perspective both have been well received
I can't comment on Sky ICS but I've been using Superlite 5.0 for a while now and I'm very satisfied with it. It's very stable and relatively bugless for me. But to repeat what others have said, it's really down to personal preference. Both roms come from the same source, therefore stability wise there isn't going to be a major difference. If it helps, I used both sean and mhx's GB roms, and I preferred the latter, which was a big part of why I went with ICS Superlite in the first place.

I am going to be the good cop this time, ok Simon?
@ jebinio
If you are not worried about using ginger bread, then I would vote for Endymion. This thing is more stable and rock solid than most stock roms on any device. As a matter of fact, I'm still on 3.4 (latest is 3.5) and I swear I won't flash my d.s with anything else.

Absolutely fine mate. The OP should know better as he has been a member of the forum for long than me. However, out of 118 post he has started 24 new threads - none of which seem to have a single benefit to the community as a whole.
Just a quick list of some of the recent 'Best ROM' threads;-
[Q] Best Non Sense ROM
Best ROM for HD gaming
Stable ICS/JB ROMs?
Desire s fully working roms
JB ROM with HTC Sense?
[Q] What Rom is Smooth For Desire S.
Andromadus vs. Jellytime vs. PACman vs. Pure CM10
Best jelly bean radio ?
Best ICS ROM ?
Which is the most stable Jelly Bean Rom any idea?
And that is ONLY the ones marked with November - and if anyone ever frequents the top-level General or Q&A forums then they will know that "Which is the best ROM" threads are locked with 100% efficiency by the moderators as being against the rules of XDA.
The OP's question has been answered regularly by the good people hanging around here on multiple occasions and it is getting beyond a joke that people just can't be bothered to read or search. They take absolutely zero part in contributing to XDA as a whole and never attempt to help anybody else, but then feel they have the right to just come on and post whatever questions they want answered then and there because they are too lazy or impatient to actually look for themselves and they consistently post in the wrong part of the forum - General for a question?
I know I can sometimes be a grumpy sod, but I really do feel that our Moderators should start taking a slightly more pro-active stance with regards to the forums the are in charge of - maybe if people started finding their pointless/redundant threads deleted or locked they would actually start to follow the Rules of XDA and help themselves. The amount of times I find myself pointing out;-

is simply incredible.
I would never call you a grumpy old sod, and to be honest I'm not exactly the most knowledgeable person on here.however I do get your point even I'm beginning to think twice about putting in my tuppence worth in these threads, they pop up daily yet if most people just scrolled down half a dozen threads they would find an identical question.
Research is what I'm doing when I don't know what I'm doing. ~Wernher Von Braun
15 seconds typing into the search engine or hours of your time plus mins or more of others to reply of course I'm exaggerating but time is the one thing you can't buy save every ones and use the search engine. I'm using viper saga 1.0 great rom seems very stable for ics
It's also very fast compared to my old one which mind you wasn't slow either. Very easy install process for apps and addons there included in the rom and you choose what to install first run. But other than that your best bet is to get some of the older more promanant ROMs, as there will be allot more known about certain problems.
Hope this helps

[Q] New to rooting

Hi, I'm planning on rooting this weekend when I have the time. I also plan to flash a custom rom. So, does anybody have any suggestions for a sense jelly bean rom? I've been eyeing viperxl, so any feedback on viper would be greatly appreciated as well. Thanks.

Best rom threads are frowned upon. Try out the ones that you think will be best for you. Also, questions should go in Q&A. Glad to have new people, hope everything goes well for you.
I'm just going to save myself a bunch of typing and quote redpoint
redpoint73 said:
Q's go in the "Q&A" subforum.
And "Best ROM" threads are frowned upon here. There is no good answer to this question, as everyone has different preferences and needs. Further, suggesting one ROM over another, is an insult to the devs, as it suggests that the other ROMs are somehow inferior (when its largely a matter of personal taste). These discussions often devolve into a popularity contest. And just because a ROM is popular, does not mean it will be the best for you.
Just look through the ROMs, pick a few to flash (with the features you want), and see what you like best.
The ROM threads usually indicate very clearly what works, and what doesn't. If not in the top post, just reading through the last few pages of the more recent responses to that thread will often answer your questions.

Best ROM for the skyrocket...

I just got this phone today and was wanting to put a custom rom on it, only question is...what do I want to put on it. I'd love to put JB on it but have seen where its not too stable and I'd like a fully functional rom to start with although I'm not afraid to do some trial and error runs with different roms. But anyways I'm wondering what everyone has to recommend and why.
Thanks!

CM10 is stable. ICS and 4.1.2 are what you should be flashing.
Be prepared to be flamed by people that think they're better than you btw

I think there should be one best of thread, maybe stickied, where people can compare and discuss roms. But yeah the mods do not like best of threads because some people are too sensitive and take things personally.
OP first I suggest read and read and read....since you just received your device, I can not stress the importance of doing your homework, and you will just have to test the ROMs yourself, with so many variables involved with different users, only you can make the call what is best for you and what meets your needs...
Thank You.

Best ROM right now...

I've had a couple ROMS on my phone but I'm possibly looking to switch again. Ive been on Axism for a while now. I like it but have had some gps issues.
Is there a good daily driver out there right now? Opinions?
Sent from my SCH-I535 using xda app-developers app
honestly it depends what you like. For TW I cant tell you. I've used hyperdrive which i find pretty stable and a great daily driver. I don't use TW much. CM, I like Rootbox and Paranoidandroid, great features pretty solid too.
There is no best rom.. Just find something that works good for you.

These types of threads get closed down. There isn't any best rom there never had been and never will be. Lastly I don't think the Q and A section was meant for people who can't make up their minds about what rom to choose. I know I sound like a douche but this isn't a support site per se.
I'm not looking for support. I'm looking for opinions based upon experience.
If I was asking for a guide or instructions (which many people do), that would be support.
I'm asking what opinions are on the best and most stable daily driver based on experience.
So many elitist forum police on XDA. It's ridiculous one can't even ask for opinions in the Q and A forum without someone scolding them.

I completely agree, it's impossible to tell you what's a good daily driver. They are all good in their own way, and this same question gets asked almost every single day.
This isn't even scolding, you can ask away but when you can get the same answer a couple pages back it gets extremely tiresome seeing the same threads pop up.
For anyone reading this thread who wants advice on a good daily driver, look at all the threads, find the features you like, try it out on your phone and see if it plays nice on your hardware.
Additionally, here's a thread already made that has everyone's experiences on their rom of choice: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2030478

I'm a big fan of MOAR rom. I've tried CM, Bonestock, PA, and Liquid Smooth. MOAR has all the features I look for, leaves out crap I don't use (not a fan of PIE and Halo), is stable and has good battery life. The themes are really nice too- love Soylent Green.

well its pretty annoying to give the same answers to people who are unwilling to put in minimal amounts of work to find the answer or who expect be spoonfed some opinions on roms.
these threads get closed literally every single week.
there are no best roms out there. thats an opinion and very subjective. everyones phone runs different, everyone uses different apps and features in their roms.
if you dont like the correct asnwers to your questions then dont ask questions that dont really have answers.
nobody was rude to you, they gave you the best possible advice. read, test, try, decide what you need/want. ive run more than 15 different roms and theyve all been DD worthy.
No such thing as a Best ROM
