What method are you using... and are you being impatient?
And what have you done so far... if you want help you need to provide details.
i am trying to reflash a rom or get into CWM. i press the up+down & power button and it just stays at the screen. but i can get into download mode though
i have flashed multiple roms already and my phone was already rooted before. i wanted to get back to stock and i restored from backup and thats when this happened. so im kinda of lost when u say "what method"...sorry!
You restored from back up... what ROM/Kernel were you on when you made the back up? And what ROM/Kernel were you on when you tried to restore?
Add: You were trying to root in your first post and now you are flashing... that is why I was asking what method. CWM/ODIN/Heimdall....
i was on the stock everything when i made the backup, that was before i flashed my first rom. and i was on the "{rom}Cwm-GB-2.3.6-Octane-V3.0 XPLOD NO CIQ EDITION 12-10-11 now with power menu mod" when i tired to restore. i use the CWM on my first flashed of rom.

Stock GB? Stock GB doesn't have CWM to make a nandroid back up. How did you make the back up?
If your phone will turn on, regardless on it's state, you can more than likely flash stock through ODIN or Heimdall. I read most people have problems restoring nandroid backups.
ROM-ODIN-2.3.6-Gingerbread Offical
The KJ6 Heimdall One-Click Collection
i was on stock "everything" when i did the backup and when i was on "{rom}Cwm-GB-2.3.6-Octane-V3.0 XPLOD NO CIQ EDITION 12-10-11 now with power menu mod" when i tried to restore. i flashed my first rom with CWM.
Ok... I guess. You were on Stock everything and had CWM?
Use ODIN or Heimdall and flash back to stock.
i did the backup from CWM. i was already rooted when i did the backup, i just didnt have a custom rom at the time. what is the best method? heimdall or odin?

I guess what I am trying to tell you is... if you had CWM you could not have been on stock everything. CWM comes with a custom kernel you flashed. That is the only way to have CWM. That is why I was trying to determine what CWM you were in. Because nandroid backups/restores are not compatible with in different versions of CWM.
You are in a bootloop.
I use ODIN. Others use Heimdall. I prefer ODIN. Others say Heimdall is easy. If you have used either before, use the one you already have on your machine. If you haven't used either before, read how to use both and pick the one you think you can do without messing up your phone.
Here is thread about kernels and CWM and the very last post says it all.
okay. thanks man. i appreciate it
Alright so just got the skyrocket and i've been really good with the galaxy s vibrant in the tmobile section so I understand the basics but I messed up.. I flashed the CMW in odin and that went fine then I tried to flash superlite 5.1 via CMW and I formatted everything except the emmc(external sd) and continued flashing the ROM. it got stuck in a bootloop... i tried the normal thing and pulled the battery and reflashed the ROM but same thing...I did have a backup but my dumb @$$ didn't think about it when i formatted the internal that it would wipe the backup I can still get into download mode but the computer won't recognize the phone nor will odin so I can't get back to stock. I can also get into recovery still but I can't get it to boot normal all it does is stay stuck in the bootloop not going past the samsung flash screen..can someone make a backup zip that i can flash or will this not work? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Just follow the process again and reflash it.
I've tried multiple times and continue to get stuck in the bootloop it almost sounds like it shorts before the phone goes back into the loop each time

wipe and flash the ics radio and then the rom
alright I will dig around and find the radio unless you have a quick link for me
modem can be found here
http://hive11.com/android/ics/ICSradio.zip
i would first do a darkside wipe
http://hive11.com/android/DARKSIDE.SUPER.WIPE_EXT4.zip
first flash the darkside wipe. then flash the modem. then flash superlite. hopefully this fixes your bootloop.
thanks for the help I will try the above steps and report back when i can
download the rom again, you probably got a bad file

You all fixed up? was it a bad download or bad flash?
I decided to give the new CM9 rom a try this morning on my verizon s3. after playing around a little i decided that I liked the stock rooted rom I had before so I was going to return to my nandroid backup. However, CM9 has its own recovery. I flashed my other recover, which was InvisibleK's recovery, which actually boots into a stock rom from recovery but never really goes into the recovery menu. So now I am stuck bootlooping because I think the recovery is trying to boot up but isnt finding the rom becuase I couldnt flash it from the CWM rcover that I was on with CM9. I can get into download mode but of course Odin is not seeing my phone for some reason. Anyone out there have anysuggestions? or did I just make myself a fancy new paperweight?
got odin
i got to odin now. i recognized my phone. I switched usb cords to the one that came with the phone
flashed stock rooted rom no luck
flashed stock rooted rom thought i was in the clear and now its bootlooping at the verizon boot animation. Im pretty sure i just have to factory reset but i cant get into recovery

Revert to complete stock with no root, then try to access the samsung recovery and do a factory reset from there.
unrooting brought me back to stock recovery
I finally sbf'ed back to the stock rom and being unrooted must have not allowed the phone to use the recovery I had installed and instead took me to the stock recovery where i was able to factory reset and all is good now. Phew..... that was a close one
thanks skander
Thank you very much. I actually tried that last night. I was getting desperate. wasnt sure if it would work or not but I thought maybe that and if that didnt work i would try flashing a different recovery from adb but i can never get adb to work from my pc. Anyway though, didnt matter. its all good now. Just got root back and learned a valuable lesson. thanks again....

Someone already told you what to do. Find a stock ROM, boot up Odin and flash.
the roms you tried work with TWRP... ive used TWRP since release

I don't think they work with TWRP. They will flash fine but they wont boot. I had the same problem as the OP when i flashed them. I guessing its because they aren't setup for unlocked phones yet. OP all you need to do is wipe using TWRP then flash the cyanogen mod 10 leak posted by CVPS. Make sure you flash gapps and you will be good to go.
Locked or unlocked phone shouldn't matter as far as the Rom is concerned, it's been stated many times that the kexec kernels will boot fine on an unlocked phone. I would suggest starting fresh, stock ODIN, root, unlock, then flash CWM 6.0.1.0 with ez recovery and go from there.
Some people are not having any issues with the touch recoveries and others are, in my experience the CWM recovery has been the most stable and I could really care less about "touching" my recovery, buttons do the same thing. Just my 0.02

feel like an old man hearing these stories......we all know them...when we first started out flashing and **** went wrong....freak outs..panics....sweating..pacing..anger....regret.........BUT then you work through them and look back and say "**** that was easier than I thought"....and we come across them again without panic or hesitation........................dude relax........
1-grab a stock image...chose anyone you want in these forums..some are even prerooted.....i personally got competely back to stock
2-i use the one click root method..so root
3-flash cmw...any version you want as long as it is made for your model phone.....you can use e-z recovery app from market
4-MAKE A ****ING BACKUP!!! very important...
5-download e-z unlock from the play market..use...and done..now you are stock, rooted, unlock bootloader......if you plan on flashing cm10 or aokp or aosp....please make sure to read the thread "how to backup your imei" before flashing any of those roms.............boom goes the dynamite:laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh::laugh:.............................

Kexec roms don't but synergy should have. I use twrp and Synergy no problem. There isn't anything special that has to be setup for an unlocked bootloader.
Op you should be able to flash any non kexec rom. Did you do a wipe factory reset? If not you may want to give that a try
I'm stuck on the fuzzy samsung logo right after the sharp one, and right before the colorful boot animation.
Not vibrating repeatedly, but I checked and cleaned the power button.
It was acting buggy after having embryo 7 for a long time with no problems.....Then things started happening a lot, so I changed back to 6. Then one day recently embryo 6 locked up on boot and here I am!
I don't know what caused all this, but I can't get in to recovery either. It looks like it's going to, but then it freezes on the CWM start up screen. Never could get it in to recovery, but I was able to get it in to download mode, AND it looked like I successfully flashed the stock firmware according to Odin. BUT then it froze on at&t screen during start up. AND THEN went back to being frozen on mohans fuzzy samsung screen.
I really was trying to search, but I can't find it.... Help? Anyone....?

It looked like it was trying to restart after Odin finished the install, and the phone never made it past the water drop. Froze in the middle of that part. After a long time I finally unplugged it, and touched the power button. Then it went back to the original screen I was stuck on, and I could never get it to go in to CWM. It starts to, and then gets stuck.
I'm guessing you flashed cymbaline 3.8 on embryo 6. That kernel has issues. Reflash with 3.5 and see what happens. Should be stable then

I was just trying to go back to stock. Are you saying that the kernel will still be different even though I was going back to stock through Odin?
I liked mohan's ROM's, but I guess he got a different phone. I never had problems before, but if it's a kernel I can flash will that work through Odin?
Sorry if my questions are annoying, but I just want to make sure I can do it through Odin, AND I don't want to flash it if I'm too far gone for it since I can't even get in to recovery.

I can't get in to recovery mode. Only recovery mode.
That's what I'm trying to figure out is just how to get to recovery, or anything else besides download mode.
And yes. I liked embryo 7 a lot. But something started happening about 2 1/2 months after I flashed it with no problem before that.
I love the arms at boot up..

You can have "the arms at boot up" without that rom.
To get into recovery, which seems like it's damaged for you, flash TWRP from odin.

Ok, maybe a solution could be install TWRP, or my solution could be installing the oficial android 4.1.2 from odin and then download the CWM recovery and proceed to flash Embryo.

I appreciate the help, and I did try to install the official 4.1.2 from Odin. Twice. Both times the screen from odin looked exactly like it was supposed to if it was successful. It then tried to restart my phone as part of the install process, and then the phone freezes on start up screen......and done.
CANNOT get the phone in to recovery mode every time I try, but it goes in to download mode no problem.
That's why I'm here and still scratching my head. I'm stuck using a fusion I usually just have for my kid as a toy around the house.

So u need to use Odin and flash a stock image back on the phone, go to sammobile.com and DL the firmware for ur device then place the phone in download mode load the tar file in Odin and click start, when it's done DL the latest twrp as its a little better than cwm because its updated more regularly, then use Odin to flash the recovery to the device and now u are back to stock rooted and from there with twrp, all is possible
