I found a white one on craigslist for a good price and am considering buying it just so I can swap between the colors depending on my mood. Is that crazy? I had the guy check and it is still on 1.73

I talked him down to $440, I can definitely part with that. I was considering grabbing an unlocked GNex from the play store just to mess with but I think I'd rather have the extra One X instead

Not that great of a deal IMO. They have been selling for that here on the marketplace for a while. Since he doesn't have to ship or pay fees, I'd show up with $400.

He said it's only 2 days old and is in perfect condition. Considering I paid $600 for my grey one, I'd say that's a good deal. It's the lowest price I was able to get off craigslist. I refuse to buy one that I can't physically check out first, so the marketplace is out of the question.

Lol, it was worth a try If I was able to have another device I would purchase the S3 to go a long with the One X. I was thinking about getting rid of the X for the S3 but this device is just beautiful. If only HTC could get there build quality back to what it use to be. Before purchasing this phone I've never had to replace a device due to issues. I've had this one swapped out 3 times.

Yeah I dunno what their deal is. When I first got mine it was rock solid but as you know my screen is clicking now and it's annoying the crap out of me. One of the reasons why I want this white one is so I can root and ROM it and exchange my grey one for a new one tomorrow and not have to care about it being stuck on stock 1.85 for a while.
I am interested in the S3 but I think it's ugly as hell. Definitely can't hold a candle to the One X in the looks department.

Ya, it looks exactly like the S2 with a different shape. HTC nailed it with this phone. Definitely the best looking phone I've ever seen. Bad thing is, I swapped mine out for signal dropping and not coming back on by itself so I swapped it out and the new one does the exact same thing plus has a little blemish that nobody would ever notice but me and my OCD and it's on 1.85. My other was perfect besides that one issue and it was unlocked. I wish I could have it back. Now I'm past my 30 days.

That's got to be frustrating as hell. Have you called AT&T about it? Supposedly they are pretty good with warranty replacements. Let them know about your issue, maybe they'll give you another one. And 1.85 WILL get rooted so just sit tight
I used to switch between a white and black iPhone. I've been contemplating this dame thing with white and grey HOXs. The thought of matching the phone to a suit or having it as an actual matching clothing accessory is not a bad idea. White stands out and grey is incognito.

I just found out on att you can add a smartphone line then downgrade it to a dumb phone plan and only pay 10 bucks a month. Go to sams club and get a brand new onex for 150+240 for the two year and thats even a little cheaper. Im going to do that same thing but with a gs3. Been having a hard time figuring out what phone I wanted, might as well just get both for 350 plus 10 extra a month. Also to other post....Hey if you got the money why not spend it, dont hate.

Hi, i have an i535 phone with broken screen,
and want to know, if someone checked that before, will i9300 lcd work on i535?
if it's the same as our Verizon sg3 it should.only difference between the other's • Verizon, sprint,T-Mobile- is the bloatware(the LCD is just the shell) the international one has the same screen as well.so it should work if I'm not mistaken...

It's definitely gotta be the new digitizer or its just not compatible because I put the old display back and no problems. I have 2 galaxy s3's, but I was trying to use the i9300 screen on the i535 because the camera is dead on the i9300. There's nothing wrong with my i535 with the exception of a little damage to the bottom corner of the glass near the back button.
this thread is old now
what i can tell, is that LCD and Digitizer are all the same between all S3's i9300, i9305, T999/i747, L710, i535, , but the difference is in frames where the LCD sits (the "home" button is attached to the frame btw, "menu" and "back" buttons are on the flex cable connected to LCD)
all frames between this models are not compatible (only ATT and tmobile are the same )
so if you getting screen with frame (it makes installation much easier) you will need to check for exact model,
if it is just LCD+Digitizer - it really does not matter (installation process a bit harder)
Has anyone else tried using the i9300 with the i535?

If you will use just a glass or glass+lcd it will work
If you get glass+lcd+frame it will not work, frames are different because of motherboard design

Props to these who figured this out. Both my mother and I have a verizon s3 (her pebble blue me sapphire black)
She unfortunately dropped it and cracked both the glass and digitizer. I had been thinking about giving the screen replacement a shot since I'm going to have the phone nearly entirely apart I was wondering if I could buy an sprint s3 housing and do the screen replacement and swap out the guts from the Verizon to the sprint one? The reason I'm asking is my mother is absolutely crazy about the color purple and sprint is the only one that has a stock purple s3. Will it be possible or certain things won't line up/ cannot be modified to fit the vz guts inside?

Wasn't sure where else to post this, but I have the opportunity to buy a tegra 3 model one X for cheap, due to a broken screen/digitizer, and have the S4 ATT variant. I've searched a few threads and couldn't find anything about possibly switching the screens in the two and if they are even compatible. If there is another thread on this, awesome but otherwise can someone give me a technical reference as to whether this is even possible or not. I'd lovvvve to use the tegra model since I'm on T-Mobile anyway and 4G/LTE are irrelevant

It is possible since the phones are the same size and everything, just the processor is different. The problem is the screen repair is extremely difficult according to many people, and it most likely will need to be sent to a professional to be done properly (no raised edges, properly set, etc.). The cost of repair from HTC is ~$300.
Okay that was concern number 2) Is it even worth the attempt? I'm sure as hell not going to drop another 300 on fixing it if I have the potential to do it myself. And it would be a swap of only the LCD/digitizer as one piece. But thanks for answering my question. Just wanted to be sure before dropping the cash
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
There are several other threads on this topic already. The screen/digitizers are being sold as different part depending on Tegra3 or Snapdragon S4 versions. So it seems there may be differences between the two. You can search for the other threads for more discussion on this.
As already mentioned, its not an easy repair. Taking the phone apart, and installing the screen is much more difficult than other phones, due to the polycarbonate unibody design. Even pro repair shops are having problems doing the repair, and there has been a report of a shop messing up the repair, damaging the outside of the phone, and getting glue all over it when disassembling and re-assembling.
Is their something wrong with your S4? If not, I would leave it alone. You're likely going to mess up both phones trying to Frankenstein something together, and its not worth it.
If your switching screens from one phone to the other it's pretty simple since the digitizer and LCD don't need to be removed from the screen frame... just swap the frames. If your comfortable with it.
Sent from my SCH-R720 using xda app-developers app
If I remember right, the S4 version is .4 mm longer than the international versions which, if you've noticed some cases out there, causes the cases to be misaligned.
This SMALL length difference causes the screens to be slightly different as well. now, I could be wrong. But I do believe reading somewhere that the screens were NOT compatible between the Tegra3 and S4 versions due to that incredibly minute difference.
Yes, if they differ at all I would not swap them at all....new LCD/digitizer assemblies are $80 on amazon from u.s. resellers

Since it's really a great phone.. and may probably tie or beat the battery life of our One S, considering it has a bigger display and uses slcd-2..

:: puts hand up! :: Bought mine thru Widget City for 21k, since they were the only "semi-reputable" seller of S4 version months ago. Battery life is modest at best, that's why I bought a car charger and a slow charger for use at work. Perfectly happy with it (Black MAO) but had 2nd thoughts that I should have gotten the Blue/Grey instead,as the black is slippery to the touch. Had to get a capdase casing from Greenhills to make it bearable to hold and not be afraid of the phone falling. The 64gb white S would have been nice, but am not a power user anyways.

Chipping-wise, only in the charger slot,as I tend to mishoot the cable, but surprisingly, no chipping elsewhere ( I was prepared for this before getting the black one) I did my homework to make sure I got an S4 version, tooke about 2 months of persistent buffering stores and even HTC sales agents until I found the S4. Widget City is legit, but has the most terrible customer service for an online store (Kimstore is the best) but had to bear it as only they have the best price and the only one to carry the S4 version.

Just like mine.. the only chip i had is inside the usb port as it is inevitable that the usb tip will not touch around the usb port.. elsewhere, i don't have any chipping issues. And like you, i researched through almost all possible sources to make sure i'll get the s4 and the batch of HOS not affected with the chipping issue. May i ask again, what is the first 6 digit of your serial number? Mine is SH24KW, as it is one of the basis if your One S is affected with the issue..
You use an otterbox? Does it really add bulkiness to the phone? My friend bought a commuter for his One X, and it's really bulky..
How does widget city be terrible in costumer service? Yup, i also inquired there and ask if it was really an s4 they are selling.. they even said the model name (z520e) when i ask them to check the box.. from there, i knew that i would be getting the s4 but i really couldn't imagine why they sell that for just 21k or less..
Well, enough for the regrets, i'm satisfied with the HOS.. but the release of the HOX+ makes me think to upgrade to it.. what are your insights? Hehe.

SH23KW. I use a Capdase casing and it barely adds volume (read my initial post). I took choose HOS primarily for 3 things: processing power, form factor and ease of use with one hand. Think of what is essential for you, and if majority of those leads to HOS+, then consider it.

Odd.. have you read the Micro Arc Oxidation Failure topic here at our One S Forum? Seems like you are one of the exemption that didn't have the chipping in spite of having a SH23 s/n.. in the topic, almost all SH23 owners suffer from chipping which is said to be the first batches of the HOS, while SH24 and SH25 are the "fixed" batches regarding the MAO chipping.. i guess you were very lucky with your One S.
Yes, that were also my considerations before i bought the HOS, ease of use, top of the line processor and it's build quality. I would've bought the One X+ if it was already available when i was only deciding what to choose.. i didn't choose the One X because of short battery life, overheating issues, the camera lens is very vulnerable to scratches and it's a huge phone compared to our One S, but with the promising and superb specs of the One X+, i think i can live with a bigger phone, now that all my concerns with the One X is now solved with the One X+, i really don't know if i would upgrade..

Hi!
I just bought my One S yesterday. It's black. Unfortunately, I found out about the S4 vs S3 debacle too late and found out just today, that I have the S3 version. I plan on going back to the HTC Concept Store at SM City Cebu to demand an exchange, as the dumb phones they had on display with spec sheets clearly say Snappdragon 4! I bought this phone for speed and to find out later that I got a "crippled" version with the S3 chip for an S4 price is downright fraud for me.
Well, wish me luck. :good:
BTW, did you guys get the 4.0.4 OTA update? I'm not seeing any. Stuck at 4.0.3. Maybe another issue with this "disappointing" S3 version.

I also saw here at SM Fairview last week, that they are selling the black version of the One S, but they didn't say that it has the s3 or the s4 chip. I inspected it, and comparing to mine, external features is really identical, but when i compare the speeds in opening some apps like the camera, gallery, messages, contacts, the app drawer, settings and other, it's really noticeable that my One s4 is faster compared with the s3 version, but i didn't stop there.. i logged on my gmail to the One S they are selling and downloaded quadrant to check it's system info, and from there, i saw that the product name is villec2, msm8260, 1784 MHz and adreno 220. It clearly states that the one they are selling is the s3 version.. i then run full benchmark on my HOS and the one they are selling, my HOS finished first, then i got a score of 5200+ while theirs only scored 4k+.. so it's really an s3. I hope you could get a replacement and get the s4 variant.. as the s3 is not that great as the s4.. about the 4.0.4 update, yes i already updated to that since the 2nd week of october.. i guess the update for the s3 rolled out last november's first week? I'm afraid if the One S got its JB update, the s4 variant would be the first to get it, and a month or two before for the s3 one.. but in the first place, i hope we'll have a JB update. Hehe

The title pretty much says it all.
I just got a Samsung Galaxy s2 LTE ( i727r) and I'm having trouble finding nice cases for it.
I found one online that looks like it will fit my phone on eBay, but it's listed under the Skyrocket (i727).
I'm just wondering if they carry the same cases / if the cases can fit on either phone.
I'm super nooby when it comes to phones - I know nothing. From the appearance, it looks like they are the same size and the cameras/buttons are in the same position. (Please note, I've never seen a Skyrocket in person...).
I've had one person tell me yes, another no. But they both weren't sure.
Looking for a definite - without-a-doubt - answer.
Thanks!!!

I've already searched the forums. I've found forums relating to rooting and program specs.
I know the two phones are the same operation-wise. But I want to know if they're the same physically. As stupid of a question as it is.
I've been to three websites where they state the dimensions for the LTE are 1 centimeter larger than the Skyrocket.
So, according to this, the case for a Rocket will not fit for the LTE.
Is this true?
Without a doubt they might be the same. But again maybe they aren't.

Ahg. Yeah, this is the same answer everyone is telling me.
Probably because from what I understand the LTE is the "Canadian" version of the Skyrocket for Rogers.
So, we only sell LTE and I don't think I've ever seen a Skyrocket in my life. Not many people have since the market here is for a LTE.
This case is going to cost me 35$. My wallet will cry if it doesn't fit.

I just bought a case for a i727 skyrocket, and it fits perfectly with my i727r LTE phone! there, a definite answer. (mine was a hard rubber case from ebay $ 2.99 )
Same here. Skyrocket case fits my Rogers i727 perfectly. Got mine from Trident.

The form factors of these two phones are the same, so you will be able to use a regular skyrocket case.
Jeez guys, did you see when the op asked the question. It's over a year ago. I think he's figured it out one way or the other by now.
