Unable to factory reset... Wtf?!?! - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket SGH-I727

OK so I got this skyrocket from a friend, but for some reason i cant get rid of his data. I've tried regular factory reset via settings, also I tried flashing the stock ROM with Odin, both seem to work fine, I'm not getting any errors or anything, but when I reboot the phone afterward its still exactly the same, all his apps, accounts, data is still there. I also tried to install cwm via Odin which also said was successful, but then the stock recovery is still on the phone any help would be greatly appreciated, I've had a few sammys in my day so I know my way around Odin / heimdall etc... But this is puzzling

Have you tried to format in the internal from your pc.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using xda app-developers app

I just tried that right now, still no luck. Also a weird thing I noticed is that when I do a factory reset from the settings menu, the stock recovery menu comes up and I have to manually push the factory reset/erase all data option with the vol rockers & power button... usually its automated when done from the actual settings menu.

seen this issue once b4, determined it was nand write and/or erase failure, I don't think the guy ever did figure it out . no errors were given when using odin or recovery, no matter what he flashed/erased the phone booted up as if he never did anything.

Yea that's what I was thinking, its like the whole system is set to read-only. Some sort of chip failure maybe. Bummer cause the phone looks like brand new, not a scratch or knick on it

I might be wrong but this sounds like what happens when you have a corrupted emmc. If I am right, this is a hardware issue. One quick way to check is to flash the latest official firmware via ODIN. If I am right, either Odin will fail or you will have the exact same ROM you have now even after Odin install.

Can you write to the internal SD once in the Android? For example when you take a photo or download a file does it get saved on the phone? If the answer is yes then it cannot be a hardware issue. Just a permission cluster-fu..
Get a Linux environment ( boot up your PC with a live CD or something) mount the drive use root su/sudo commands to set chmod 777 on the entire mount

Topprospect posted a long complicated thread when he had the super brick. If I remember correctly, it involved some ROM code changes to use external SD card as the primary memory. I don't remember if it worked for him. Maybe worth a shot if all else fails and you really really want to use the phone.

Thanks for the input guys. I'm pretty sure this things fried, luckily its not my primary phone. Anyone know offhand what the manufacturer warranty period is for Samsung? I know HTC is a year, ive sent them phones in the past and they fixed them free of charge as long as it was within a year of the manufacturing date, hopefully Samsung is similar.

Anyone know how to fix the sdcard security issue?

Ever since I upgraded from cm10 to the jellywiz rom I have been getting "Cannot access external sdcard for security reasons." I paraphrased because I can't remember the exact wording. Anyways anyone know why that is or if there is a workaround for it? I have tried multiple ROMs and even changed the kernel but it didn't work. I wanted to try to go back to ICS then back to another jellybean build but I am not sure how to do that. I hear it has bricked a lot of phones. Has anyone had this same issue and somehow fixed it? What size is the sd Card

CM 10.1 “0" folder issue Please Help!

So I just flashed CM 10.1 on my I535 to get a taste of 4.2. Nice ROM overall, however it did something strange to my SD card.
After flashing it, I booted into recovery to restore my daily driver CR5.5.1 and noticed this strange “0" folder on my SD Card in TWRP.
I initially was unable to locate my backups but then found them in a folder.
My backup was unable to flash because it was no longer a .zip file. All the files were .win.
Two questions, how do I fix this and flash my backup?
How do you check to make sure TWRP is up to date?
Thank you very much for the help !

In case you don't read the thread, it's only four pages right now, this isn't a 100% fix so you may have to repeat these steps if/when it happens again. It looks easy enough although I'm not on AOSP to know.

I just started a new thread about this topic because it is different but related to CM 10.1..
Just read that I need to Odin back to stock and unroot.. then *2767*3855#' then re root and unlock?
I flashed back to stock ICS last night and did the above mentioned keypad trick.
Then flashed back to JB and am still getting the global mode issue..

I've only seen two ideas as potential solutions, Odin/dialer code or flashing or maybe changing this obscure setting. Maybe I need to do more thorough reading on other methods.
Seeing all these issues with JB 4.2 is rather disconcerting.

Ok. So i grabbed a micro SD card to see if that would change anything. It doesnt. The phone is still not recognized by the computer. Ive tried a few USB cables and three computers (2 win8 and 1 win7). The phone charges from the computer fine. I tried my nexus 7 with both cables and all computers also. They saw the N7 no problem. So it is something in the phone. Thanks for any ideas you throw my way.
OK. Fresh clean flash and same problem. Silly question but can I just flash back to an older build to see if that fixes it. Only reason I ask is the partions. Thanks.

You would need to flash a stock "unbrick" package first, then flash your way back to JB via the usual methods... starting here for the stock packages:
Heimdall - http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1524081
-or-
Odin - http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...php?p=27286083
Damn. I was afraid of that. Oh well. Thanks. Any ideas what caused it?

Your phone issue sounds like loss of imei info. That sometimes happens during the convert to jb. Revert to stock usually fixes that.
2nd item - there are no back conversions for the partition layout other than the stock packages.

[RECOVERY] CWM 6.0.4.5 touch & non-touch

So recently I've been trying to compile a 4.4 compatible TWRP for our device, but somehow, this time around, it turned into a CWM. I had all my TWRP flags in the right position, but I digress.
I am proud to present to you CWM 6.0.4.5 touch and non touch for the Samsung Galaxy S Blaze.
The following link contains both builds. The non touch was compiled from source while the touch recovery was compiled through Koushes Recovery Builder.
THIS IS FOR 4.4 ROMS ONLY. I CLAIM NO RESPONSIBILITY FOR ANY DAMAGES THAT MAY OCCUR IF YOU CHOOSE TO USE IT OTHERWISE.

I'll perform some maintenance on the thread a little later, but until then...

If you want twrp you need to pull Omni's bootable_recovery, unzip it and replace it with the cm recovery in /bootable/recovery.
From there make the general builds.
