[Q] Any way to disable charging animation? - HTC Pico (Explorer)

I have rooted HTC Explorer running stock rom and I have a problem with it: Is there any way to disable charging animation when phone is locked? What I would like to have is just black screen that is turned off and what I am getting atm is huge pic of battery charging and the %. Is there any way to get rid of that or should I just get used to that?

Make a nandroid backup. And specifically copy /system/media/zchrgd folder to /SDcard
And delete that folder. Reboot.
Won't work when switched off and charging. May work when switched on and charging

Not sure about exact folder. But it should contain charging1.rle,charging2.rle ~something like that. Similar files.

Thank you worked perfectly.

[Q] AAHK Problem! Cant start up the rooting menu(hack ace) please help.

I am trying to root my HTC Inspire 4G 2.3.5, i am on Windows Vista. Whenever i go to run the hack ace by Admin an error message like this pops up in the command prompt....
" file "sc" is missing or corrupt.
Your PC Windows ENV is damaged and should be repaired.
At least one default system file is missing, corrupt
or the Windows PC env has been otherwise compromised.
The Hack Kit quits before damage is done to your phone.
Retry with a different PC or try a 32-bit Ubuntu Linux LiveCD."
Is there something i can do or download to prevent this? or will i just have to use a different PC??
i have ran the Ubuntu and when i try it on there the same message appears in the terminal(command prompt).
PLEASE HELP

my phone is on debugging mode and the fast boot is off, and firmware is 2.3.5 and im aware that i must downgrade to 2.3.3 but i get that error message before i can even get the rooting menu in command prompt.
If you could uninstall all antivirus programs and disable all firewalls...then re-download the AAHK....that could be the problem....

App to extract boot.img on phone

Is there an app where I can extract the kernel from the ROM.zip?
I can view the archive, but when I long press on the IMG file it doesn't let me copy and paste it anywhere. So if the ROM thread doesn't have it as an option to download separate, then I still have to hook the phone to PC.
Just trying to find ways to go completely PC free.
Thanks

If you want completely pc free install flash image GUI from market. It is by joeykrim and now supports our phone. You can also find a thread in here.called test GUI app with links to download it. This app will extract the boot.IMG inside of android and flash it then reboot you into recovery so you can flash your Rom without the need of a comp. Hope this helps.

I have it, but will it go in and find the boot.img inside the whole rom zip? Or will I have to extract the image out first and then flash it with the tool?
And thanks for the response.

Don't you just need to extract it from the zip to your SD card cause that's what "extract" would do...
I often extract files from a zip through Root Explorer. It extracts the files to /sdcard/SpeedSoftware/Extracted.
Or, use Solid Explorer and with your phone in landscape mode, you can copy it from the zip to the right pane.
When you run the app it will extract the boot.IMG and flash it for you. All you do is open the app browse to the Rom you want to flash and then it will warn you that it needs to search for the kernel. Let it find and extract the.kernel then the flash button will be available for you to flash. After you flash it you have to reboot to recovery and install the Rom via twrp.

Install ES File Explorer, go to settings, advanced and enable root helper. Then navigate to the rom zip, long press it, and click "extract to". Then, go to the extracted rom, and you'll find the boot.img. ADB pull to computer, or just upload to dropbox or something...

[Q] Motorola Droid Maxx Stuck at Droid Logo on Boot

I got a notification this morning on my Droid Maxx for the OTA update that just came out. I told it to install this afternoon. After doing so, my phone rebooted, showed the progress of the update, and then about half way through showed me a form of the Android logo that said "failed" underneath. Ever since that, I cannot get my phone to fully boot. I tried clearing the cache from the recovery mode menu but that had no effect. I also cannot get the phone to boot into safe mode. My phone was not rooted so I'm not exactly sure why there was an issue with the update. Just wandering if anybody has any suggestions on what to do at this point? Worst case scenario I'm assuming I can restore to factory defaults but I would really like to avoid that if possible. Thanks in advance for the help!
Sounds like you should be able to FXZ and retain data to stock then take the update again.

Thank you for the suggestion! I'm pretty much a noob at this. Are there any good tutorials you would suggest that demonstrate how to do what you suggested? I found the following site: sbf.droid-developers. org/obake/list.php (had to put spaces in it in order to post it) I began downloading the second file in the list which I'm assuming is the correct one. I've gathered that you have to edit an XML file in package. But I'm not really sure what to edit and I'm not sure about how to get it to my phone. Do I use the Motorola Device Manager or the Android development tools?
You actually do not have to edit them you can use the xt1080 and copy them over. That's what I had thought also but you don't have to edit them.

If you are trying to not lose you user data, i would remove the line
<step operation="erase" partition="userdata" />
from the .xml file before you try to apply with RSD

You don't have to remove any lines if you are using what is already zipped up, once you run house of moto it gives you the option to keep data.
