This is great, and amazed how quickly it was released! I've flashed and everything works fine as far as I can tell. The only thing I've noticed is certain apps that make use of the S4 Barometer/Thermometer end up crashing the phone after a couple seconds. But other than that all appears to be fine.

UP-DATE: Re CM10.1 Installation …
Well, I took the plunge and flashed cm-10.1-20130504-EXPERIMENTAL-jfltecan, along with the latest GAPPS (on my Rogers SGH-I337M).
Although I’ve got lots more checking to do, like Sobai, the installation went smoothly, and following the initial set-up, I can tell you that my original serious lag, and subsequent lag improvement following the OTA, is now effectively gone. It’s smooth as butter (sorry about the cliché).
I’ll report back later today or tonight.
Peter
Addendum: As was mentioned on Steve Kondik's site, you can't mount the SDCard, so what I have on it is not yet accessible.

Awesome!
I wanted to test it out, but I wanna wait for a stable build. Should come in a few weeks I hope!

It doesn't detect external MicroSD

I have read that the write protection enabled thing is just to ensure you don't flash something meant for another version of the phone. I have successfully flashed TWRP and CM10.1 yesterday on a Galaxy S4 1337M from Bell.
Also, you would usually flash the zip using TWRP.

To put it bluntly... Don't.
Until we get the bootloader unlocked and have the custom recovery running in tandem with the unlocked bootloader that's very dangerous.

Canadian phones are NOT bootloader locked. AT&T US is the only jack*ss at the party so far (waiting for Verizon, of course).
Just be careful, and know you're taking your chances.

I want to flash this but I dont want to lose all the new sensor gimmicks this phone brings and to top that off I dont have a stock odin rom to put phone back in factory state in case it messes up? what to do?

The fact that the Canadian s4 are identical hardware wise to the at&t s4 just confirms that the whole locked bootloader thing is purely at&t's fault and not samsung's.
And this also confirms that the "write enabled" in download mode has nothing to do with the bootloader being locked, as the Canadian s4 says that, but the bootloader isn't locked.
The Canadian S4 also has the black contacts and phone apps like the international version, not the hideous white ones of the us variants.

Wait! there's no rush! There will be plenty of time to flash this once it's a little more complete /stable. And... As far as I know we don't have the rom yet available to flash in case something goes wrong and you want to go back to stock.

If this crap continues from ATT, I'll just use ATT upgrades to sell the iPhones and either purchase a T-Mobile one or import one. This is madness!!! SO JELLY!!!!!!

Hola
1. Why the heck is it that Telus, Bell, Rogers and the whole lot of them can't release our stock ROM's as yet???
2. Thank heavens that we don't have to deal with locked boot loader situation.
3. I truly hope that either TWRP or CWM can release a working version of custom recovery so that we can do Nandroid backups.
4. I used http://www.cellunlocker.net/ to unlock my white SGH-I337M device which I bought from Rogers. It took about an hour to get the unlock code. Now it is working without issue on Bell's network.
The wait continues...

We have a recovery on canadian s4 just root
download goomanager on playstor
click the menu button and install open recovery script
and that will flash twrp recovery automatically.
Then it has an option to reboot to recovery and then make backup.
my backup compressed wieghs about 2gs.

Haven't you heard of Bill C-343? You shouldn't have to pay.

Bill C-343 isn't yet in place ...
Bill C-343 hasn't yet passed into law, and it may never happen, at least, not for a long while.

Dude, if you are looking to buy outright, you should seriously consider buying a Canadian i337M. The best deal now is from Koodo (a discount subsidiary of Telus) for $625: https://shop.koodomobile.com/phones/models/index.html
You would then own an unlocked GS4, fully compatible with AT&T's network.

Straightforward guide to getting your Galaxy S2 SGH-I727 ICS on T-Mobile

Pre-requisites:
a) Rooted
b) CWM Installed
c) Sim Unlock Code
I could not find a straight forward way to get the ATT SGH-I727 Unlocked and working on T-mobile so I thought I'd make this short list of instructions for those going through the same trouble.
The first thing I had to do was unlock the phone. I contacted a local company that charged $35. Free options failed. Expect to pay. There were mentions of calling ATT for the unlock code which I did, however, the CSR looked up the IMEI and determined that the unlock code was not YET available. From what I gathered, because the original phone owner was still under the two year agreement, this unlock was on hold until that time period was up. Those that bought their phone outright without a contract are provided their code with a call to customer service.
With the phone unlocked, I still couldn't get the phone to connect to a T-mobile signal. With a tmob sim, either a no-signal icon appeared or the phone simply showed full ATT bars but wouldn't allow T-mobile use in options. Also, *#simunlock# would generate a com.android error.
Finally, the following formula allowed for an unlocked phone picking up T-mobile signal:
1. Install the STOCK ICS UCLF6 4.0.4 - UNTOUCHED - rom following the instructions on that page impeccably.
2. Install Busybox (may not be necessary)
3. Install UCLF6 modified boot Kernel
4. Install T-mobile compatible radio - Blaze_4G_LB7_ICS_Radio_MOD worked for me
Boot it and see if you have a signal. You may need to go to options and manually choose T-mobile.
After that, I was able to install a different ROM. I chose SKY-ICS 4.2F6-2.6.1
With any new rom, you will still need to flash a tmob supported radio.
My s.o. will be using this phone, so I won't be messing with other roms, unfortunately. Let me know if you have a fast and stable configuration.
I hope this helps.
Actually as the radio is deeper than the firmware we flash normally you should only need to flash a tmo radio once unless a rom has radio built in most all roms do not

Does it make a difference whether I install the stock ics and kernel you provided? All I did is update the phone to ics via kies, install a recovery, flash superuser, then installed the blaze 4g radio. Would it make a difference between doing what you said and what I did?

It works, but its very crappy, sometimes connects, sometimes doesn't, even followed this post's instructions, still has crappy connection
For those who have T mobile fine on the Skyrocket , how much DL and UP speeds are you getting (and compaired to true T mobile phones data speeds) ? I heard some say they never get more than ~1 or 2 mbps which sucks TBH
Heard this is the hot T-Mobile skyrocket radio.

Are you trying to get Call/Text connection or 4G HSPA+ Connect?
Works on WIND too!
I spend a while trying to get this phone working on Wind (Canada's 1700 AWS carrier, similar to Mobilicity / TMo). I've finally succeeded by doing the following.
1: Install latest ICS STOCK
2: Use CWS to flash AT&T UCLF6
I have not been able to get nearfield working with this modem, but it's working great other than that (albeit somewhat slow UL/DL speeds, but that's likely a more wind's crappy network than the phone). Let me know if anyone has any ideas regarding the Nearfield issue.
Just wanted to share. I have been made so freaking happy by the fact that this worked
I bought my SR for full price (549.99) months ago and stupid att also saying my unlock code is not available yet !!

Screwed up my SM-G930VL, please help!!

Hi,
I bought a SM-G930VL (tracphone branded, but verizon compatible) galaxy s7 for a pretty good price, however the advanced and wifi calling were not options (even though verizon told me they were before I purchased). I decided I would try to flash the VZW firmware from sammobile through odin, but it did not work. It originally gave me the ext4 error, but then flashing the csc fixed that. I then flashed the AP file, but it finished very quickly (about 3.5 min) and now will only boot into recovery when powered up.
Is there anything I can do to save my phone, or have I permanently screwed it up?
Thanks
holy sh*t got it working. Flashed the BL, AP, CP, and CSC files and it booted to welcome screen!!
Thanks all (and hopefully this helps anyone in the future who runs into this predicament)
It is currently checking wifi connection so hopefully all is well!
Edit: Is there a way to edit the title? That way this could be maybe help the next person rather than getting ignored.

Hi, want to ask a few questions. were you able to fully flash the Verizon firmware to this model with no issues? The phone is also supposed to be factory unlocked per my connections with reps.
Did the phone fully change to a SM-G930V, showing in settings and in Odin mode?
Yes I was able to fully flash Verizon and I have working wifi calling and advanced calling. In settings it shows up as V not VL as well. As far as I understand it is the exact same hardware just different software running on it

Great, i flashed one yesterday for a friend via teamviewer and even changed the model as SM-G930V in odin mode. So I guess due to this the phone has now a locked bootloader and ended up being converted to a full Verizon galaxy S7. Only thing it did not take his Metro PCS sim card. Unsure it would take any other carrier sim cards.

It seems it was as it allowed me to flash the verizon bootloader and full firmware. Normally tracfones only allow to flash part of a firmware and rejects all bootloader partitions.

There were reports of someone flashing the phone to an SM-G930U (Unlocked US S7). So apparently they are interflashable. I however have not gone to that extent as am yet to get my one to thinker with. I flashed previously to a SM-G930V via teamviewer for a friend. You can search the threads and verify.

You probably figured it by now, but MetroPCS is the only retarded carrier that locks SIM to IMEI. So if you want to use MetroPCS on any other phone than the one you currently have it on, you need to call customer service and give them your new phone's IMEI. Then your new phone will start working. If you want to switch back to your old MetroPCS phone you need to call them again and give them that IMEI, which is retarded. I don't know why they do that but it's really annoying if you frequently switch phones.
I have a 935V (S7 Edge Verizon) and now have 935U ROM on it using Tracfone. Initially I have Tracfone's Verizon service but I wanted the freedom to easily move from one phone to another so I converted it to a Tracfone-GSM(ATT) and been using it in my Verizon S7 Edge (with 935U ROM) and iPhone SE without any problem.

Could you add links to everything you used? I have the same model using straight talk and I want to be able to have a backup firmware to flash in case I ever mess up my phone (which seems to be a trend). And have you had any issues at all? Like, does everything work okay?

Wierd flat S7, Verizon or T-mobile?

Hi,
I got a used S7 flat with a Verizon written on the back, but when the mobile is powered on a T-mobile screen is shown and in the info version is 930T.
Now here is the bad part, not sure why buy the phone has some lag issues. I've used a 935F before and there is a significant performance difference. Benchmarks aren't consistent.
Already flashed the bloat ware and fixes, but still not sure of what might go on here.
Is it possible that a T-mobile firmware was flashed on a Verizon phone and that caused the phone to think it's a 930T?
No, it sounds like a counterfeit.
Yup, seems fake. Download CPU-Z and/or AIDA64 and see what the specs listed say. Feel free to post screenshots and we can probably say from there
Sent from my SM-G930W8 using Tapatalk
It's hard to believe that it's fake, screen resolution is there as I use Gear VR, fingerprint works as it should, camera looks nice and even the Gear360 app works ok (it's made only for s6 and s7)
Please check the screenshots from aida64
Sounds like someone replaced the back cover with a verizon one, its probably not waterproof anymore. Is knox tripped?
No, Knox 0x0.
Still experiencing some lag :/
When I refer to inconsistent benchmarks I mean I can get very high benchmarks as well as low ones antutu varies between 148k and 110k.
Either way sometimes I even get 'sloppy' video recording (gets bad on the video file it self, not only while recording) in 4k, anyone experiencing this?
Not damn slow, but laggy.
Do a factory reset.
Won't I risk to get it SIM locked?
I'm using it with a European Carrier. On the boot screen I get a open lock image and a CUSTOM word.
If by Factory Reset you mean a Factory data reset available on the settings menu, it's been done twice already.
I've flashfire and xposed installed, is any mod or clean rom that could be flashed?
As far as I see here on the forum, there isn't development for the snapdragon models, am I missing something?
How does the phone run unrooted?
the qualcomm snapdragon s7 flat and edge are able to flash between different carrier roms / firmware, so it is reasonable to believe that the phone is verizon branded, but previous user flashed the tmobile firmware.
Since you say you flashed misc bloatware remover things.. this implies the phone is rooted and you used something like flash fire to flash things. your problem is that the only method of root for this phone is to use the engineering kernel.. which is flawed for everyday use and is not as smooth as a production release kernel.
my advice is to flash the unlocked firmware g930u or a carrier firmware for which you are using the phone and DO NOT root.
edit: ahhh, i see you confirmed you are rooted.. in this case, just factory reset and DO NOT root again if you are having performance issues. otherwise start editing the kernel to get performance if you require root...

I believe that rooting was one of the first things I've done, maybe that's the problem. If it don't get any better I'll try to unroot and check the performance then.

that's the firmware i am running and i like it. alternatively, you should be able to flash a (qualcomm) firmware of the provider you are using.
for what it's worth, i use the unlocked firmware on tmobile network and i have the feature wifi calling. i think AT&T just recently released this feature and it'll require you to use AT&T firmware to get it.
They flashed the Tmobile firmware and sold it to you. I would reflash the same firmware in Odin and avoid root.. the luxuries of root are nice but the performance isn't 100% reliable yet with the eng boot. I flashed the stock AT&T firmware on my Verizon S7 so it boots up with AT&T logo, just like yours does with a T-Mobile logo.

Any way to flash G930T firmware on a G930P that is on QJ3 current Sprint firmware?

Basically my phone is updated to Sprint version G930PVPU5BQJ3, and that version apparently has an updated bootloader. T-Mobile's current rom is G930TUVS4BQJ2 with an older bootloader.
Since the QJ3 bootloader is new, I can't successfully flash any firmware that is below QJ3, meaning I can't successfully flash T-Mobile firmware (or unlocked S7 firmware).
Does anybody know if there is anyway around this, or do I need to just wait a month or so for a new version of T-Mobile's rom that has the bootloader updated the same as the Sprint firmware?

firmware bootloader ver.
I have the same problem, no mobile data is killing my functionality. Regardless of whether or not I'm connected to a T-mobile APN I get nothing but calls and messages (texts only no mms/pics), no mobile data of any kind.
Is there a place where the current bootloader priority for some/or all of the various s7 roms (carrier &/or custom) can be looked up? I was considering using a custom rom but need to pick something that will flash with the firmware I have now and work with T-Mobile network. Ideally I would rather use stock carrier rom, since I'm really just a noob trying to use a Sprint phone on T-Mobile network. I really dont want another failed flash and to have to waste more time setting my phone back up with the partial functionality it has now. I'll wait if necessary but I wanted to ask about the bootloader priority and to see if anyone had any other suggestions. Thanks!

Sorry for the question is this new bootloader locked or unlocked. if it is unlocked you can flash a custom bootloader and with that you can flash any rom you like.

Thanks!

Just read Ivpre's post today on a 930p thread, bootloader version is the 9th digit in the firmware name.
How can one determine whether or not the bootloader is locked

Sorry for the question is this new bootloader locked or unlocked. if it is unlocked you can flash a custom bootloader and with that you can flash any rom you like.

I'm sure I'm asking a noob question but there is a very good reason for that

I have the same problem, no mobile data is killing my functionality. Regardless of whether or not I'm connected to a T-mobile APN I get nothing but calls and messages (texts only no mms/pics), no mobile data of any kind.

Hi. I just joined T-Mobile from Sprint. I entered the APN settings recommended on the tmobile help site, which only worked for about 5 minutes. After calling customer service, I was directed to create another APN profile, basically identical to the one I had originally done, without deleting the first one. After saving and selecting the new profile, go to Settings>General Management>Reset>Reset Network Settings. Push the button to make it so then power cycle. Mine has worked ever since. Of course that was only Monday but still. The tech said that the majority of the time it works although he could not explain why. I talked my wife through the same procedure on her S7 Edge and on hers mms doesn't work. Don't know why.

Running RETUS on a MetroPCS Ocean device

Last night as part of rooting, I was getting issues with the MetroPCS Ocean firmware with the update failing message. I took a look at the RETUS firmwares and saw the latest so I took a chance and was able to flash the Retail version with no problems, booted up and 'worked out of the box' so to speak. It is also lighter on the features since it doesn't include the MetroPCS apps. I am not going to try rooting with this one, but it seems to be quite stable and an a little faster if that makes any sense.
Your mileage may vary!
You assume any risk by attempting the same thing on your device, but I figured it would be something someone would be interested in knowing.
I'm running MetroPCS software on a Amazon device
I'm running Cricket software on a MetroPCS device &
I'm running Amazon software on a MetroPCS device
Cons on both I've come across so far.
Cricket software on a MetroPCS device I get Boot screen says Bad key in top left corner before loading the device.
Amazon software on a MetroPCS device I get a Boot screen says untrusted device before loading the device.
Pros is they both work great.

Since you did that when you have the time, try to go back a lower build or your OG Build and check if you still have data and sim accses. I ask because (I have a RETUS) and since I flashed the latest one available "PPO29.114-108 May 1 Security Update" can't go back to OG Build it came with without losing data and sim detection. Something was updated in that build that even if you flash back it broke that. I even flashed the modem to check but no still no data or SIM detected at all. Only all fine in the most recent build.

Flashing a Carrier or Retail ROM won't ever unlock a Carrier Lock device. If it were that simple don't you think we will ever have this issue. Hell the term network lock won't even exist in a perfect world.

And yes there are several Motorola Devices that are firmware interchangeable. Been doing it since the first Moto X times. Only benefit from this procedure no bloatware and faster updates that's it. Oh and better performance since it doesn't include crappware

PSA. If you flsh Cricket, Metro etc Roth the RETUS Latest firmware you won't be able to go back to you LG firmware. That firmware updates the Bootloader and that preventa going back to a lower workifn version. You can doing what I posted earlier by while flashing back to OG Firmware skip flashing modem and fsg bins and don't execute the modem erase commands.

Ok I bricked my phone via magisk update, I was on MetroPCS variant of Ocean firmware. Now I manually flashed RETUS PPO 29.114-108; It seems to be running fine other than saying my device is not certified....is there a custom recovery that will work for Ocean RETUS using twrp? Should I try to re root using magisk systemless-ly copying boot.img? Thanks for info and any input would be greatly appreciated! Thanks

I'd like to know as well, I got 2 of these Moto G Power 7's from Metro PCS and would love a stock ROM without all the metro bloat. Not sure on Metro's unlocking policy if they will unlock it and what bands this all has if it has CDMA or is it GSM only?

If I were you I will stay away from Magisk until they update the app, still damaging the boot.img files..

Instructions are in the thread back to stock.
Secondly, I'm on MetroPCS and flashed the retus2 firmware (BestBuy versions) no MetroPCS bloatware. Flash the retus2 and you'll be fine.

You probably won't find one cheaper. $10 ones are ones that give you a code to unlock. Unlocking a MetroPCS/TMO G7Power with the Server unlock app requires a person to remotely connect to your phone and edit your NV files. Currently they are changing the imei to a different model phone that they can generate the unlock codes for. Since they are using a different model phone imei, activating on Sprint Network could be an issue since Sprint is picky as to what phones they put on their network.
If I flash "retail" firmware on a TMO Sim locked Moto G7 power will it ask me for an unlock code that I don't have? Bought it on eBay and TMO says its eligible to unlock but refuses because I'm not the original owner. Bootloader is unlocked.
EDIT: Figured out my issue. Was my fault. Flashed the RETAILUS firmware on my MetroPCS model.
Thanks OP!
Also to add to this, the Metro model is NOT supposed to be compitable with Verizon due to lack of CDMA.... Well Magically the phone now supports CDMA so it has a CDMA radio in it!
