I lined up my square trade and unlocked. agree 100% with OP.. this thing is a whole new beast. Not worried if something happens down the road because I lined up my warranty first. Plus needed the warranty in case something tragic like a drop or shatter happens in next couple years. Losing the manufacturer warranty really is minor to me. Not like they would cover if I accidentally shattered the screen.. of course as all post IMO.
EDIT. I just got an email from Squaretrade. I can't guarantee this for all, but the email says if you go to their Facebook today 11/1 and like it then enter your email you can get a 40% off coupon. Think about it. 2 yr protection including accident and water cost around $100 to cover a $500 product. Take 40% off that. Unlock your device and have fun. . I haven't tried since I already have. Just figured I would share for those that might be able to use it.
One more thing. sorry for the updates.. the small print in the email states that the promotion is from 11/1-11/15. If you do it you will get your code in an email on 11/16. So not instant, but still. Hope this helps someone. Hate to sound like I am selling them..

I'm sure the Nexus 10 will be a great device, but it's certainly not going to be *that* much better than the Infinity. It amazing how many people are making decisions purely based on specs...

Well, my decision is purely based on screen res. I do photography I like to enjoy my photos on a tablet with a high-res screen.
I do really enjoy iPad 3 screen, Nexus 10 one is going to be even better.
On a side note, I really hope that Samsung will provide a decent flash memory controller, so the thing flies with a stock rom.
Once CleanROM is available for Nexus 10, I will be one of the first ones to install it !

Lol seriously? lol some of you guys are hilarious. The tf700 screen is one of the best on a tablet for its size. Looking at the side by side views of the tf700 and the N10..then look EXACTLY THE SAME. Lol at this screen size condensing any more pixels is just novel. You are basically doing what apple fanboys do, see specs and swear that it will revamp your entire experience, when in actuality your just wasting your money... And like J said above, throw you tablet to someone who will make this beast even better!

Man, I would take you comment seriously if not a stuck power button in my TF700.
I had this tablet for only 1 months now and already got a physical damage.
I just got my Prime swapped out for a Infinity last week. This thing is like night and day compaired to the Prime. I haven't crashed yet (knock on wood). I'm also amazed that everything works like wifi and gps. Also a little added bonus is the Sd card doesn't stick out, so I don't have to worry about it.
Now if Gameloft and EA Games would just get off their asses and make some games compatible.

We understand that manufacturing defects are very frustrating.
I'm completely happy with the TF700T and this is after just about tossing in because of really shi**y performance.
The latest developments for this tablet are just some stunning work!
Remember those guys working out of their garage back in the late sixties building a PC prototype housed in wood.
Goes to show me the little guy still matters.
Man I'm amazed everyday at the XDA development community and the many who are eager to help the less knowledgeable.

That sucks, but ive had mine for months, use it everyday for school and for games/movies and have no physical defects. Honestly it comes down to how well you protect your tablet. If you are a person who tends to get physical damage easily, then it wont matter wether you have N10 or 700, you will eventually get damage due to your usage tendencies. Sorry man but honestly your reaching now to justify a purchase of the N10 so soon after the launch of the 700. Your never going to be satisfied if you buy products with that kind of mindset... Just my two cents

How is the BT audio streaming on CleanRom while streaming Hulu or Netflix? Is the out of sync lag still apparent or is it a lost cause due to hardware?

I'm using stock everything, but I'm perfectly happy with this tablet.
So, I have to wait 5 seconds when opening the stock browser. Which is exactly what Firefox and Chrome do on Windows, too. Used to it.
Copying files internally is a little slow. Yes. Wow. Ever tried copying 10gb of photos on Windows? ETA about 2 hours on XP, 5 hours with the ridiculous 'calculating' W7 does. Over USB it goes as fast as internally on my pc itself. Don't see the issue.
It crashes maybe once every other week. Again, I'm used to Windows.
WiFi works fine, JB actually improved it for me.
25GB MKV (Timescapes 4K) plays without any lag in MXplayer when on performance mode. 3GB MKV's work fine in balanced mode.
I haven't had any whitescreens, only the very occasional line (three times since JB update when it came out.) and not a single game lags.
Maybe it's because I'm used to WinXP, or I have more patience (haha..), or I'm just lucky, but it works fine for me. And I photoshop, Game (hardcore, not casual), watch videos, type and whatnot all day long. So it's not a lack of use, either.
I do not expect my tablet to do more than my gaming PC. It's a mobile device, not a bloody Quantum computer.

If your Windows installation crashes "every other week" there's something wrong with your installation; hardware or software. Maybe you're running Windows 98?
Windows has gotten pretty damn stable over the last few years. It's far from perfect and sure, driver issues can cause reboots, but they're usually solved with a driver update. With the TF700, you're **** out of luck until Asus decides to fix the issue. If they ever do.
If a regular app crashes the tablet running stock rom, it's Asus fault, not the app. As long as Asus is supplying the entire software and driver stack for the ROM, they're the ones to blame for instability issues. A regular app running with regular, limited privileges should not cause reboots.
(This is of course when running stock and non-rooted. If you're testing new kernel modules and it suddenly reboots you're probably to blame for that.)

Really? Manufacturing defects are, what, a conspiracy theory? These things happen, even if you're ever so careful with your gadgets. And don't tell me Asus is spotless when it comes to manufacturing quality and QA, you all know that's bull****.
Maybe the guy actually does throw his tablet around, runs his car over it and lets his dog chew on it. Fine, he's to blame. Or, just maybe, Asus did **** up? Actually, not really. Most of the software issues are easily fixed with a custom ROM. So, you're not *really* out of luck until Asus decides to fix the issue. It can be fixed in other ways, without waiting for Asus.
In my opinion, if you are still on the Stock ROM, you are really cheating yourself out of a great experience with the TF700. Sure, it voids your warranty, but honestly, I don't think that I've *ever* used a manufacturer warranty (and I am an electronic junkie!). Usually, if there is a hardware defect, it either occurs within the retail return period or well after the manufacturer warranty expires - at least that has been my experience.
If you are really worried about the warranty, you can get a two-year, cover-everything warranty from SquareTrade for $87. Well worth it in order to make the TF700 all that it can be... The SquareTrade warranty even has you covered if you brick the TF700 due to a bad flash or whatever.
With the TF700, I actually did purchase the SquareTrade warranty since I was a little concerned about a few things (physical button quality, etc). $87 is a small price to pay for two years of coverage, including accidental-damage coverage!

XP SP3. I game a lot. (Old games, too, hence no 7.) And ever so often, games cause reboots because of terrible scripting or lousy porting.. (Skyrim was ridiculous. It just rebooted every hour, if it even lasted that long. Took them till patch 6 to fix it... ) So does VLC when viewing blurays, because VLC hates blurays. (Common problem.)
So what you're telling me js that in order to have a lag-free, quick Infinity, I need to forfeit my warranty? Sounds like a great deal.

SquareTrade is US and UK only. Also, I'll say it again: having to give up your warranty COMPLETELY (even for issues that are clearly Asus' fault) is unreasonable in my book, especially since you're not given access to nvflash.
I have yet to unlock my device. If I'm to unlock it and void my warranty, I want a (near-)perfect device hardware-wise, which means I'll have to return this one (crap volume buttons, "clicky" display, backlight bleeding, etc). Hopefully I'll also get one with the .26 bootloader which means I can get access to nvflash.
I wouldn't have needed to deal with this if Asus would still honor RMAs for hardware/manufacturing faults even when unlocked.
I'd very much like to unlock, but I'm not doing unless I have access to nvflash at least.

If Skyrim crashes your computer, it's the OS and/or drivers that are to blame. A regular application running in user mode/ring 3 should not be able to crash the entire system. That's why there are kernel and user modes: to avoid this (and security issues). Of course, buggy drivers (very common nowadays, sadly) ruins this where a game can crash the driver and cause a reboot/BSOD. Now, I'm not saying Skyrim was perfect, but in an ideal world, their bugs should not cause reboots
My previous post was a bit of a tongue-in-cheek response though, sorry about that. My point is though, that while you expect your PC setup to crash every now and then, it should not be expected of a device like the TF700. Fixed hardware, fixed software. (Again, not valid if you're running custom ROMs or kernels).

No, you don't *have* to - the TF700 actually runs OK on stock if you ask me. But, yes, if you want the TF700 to perform as well as it possibly can, then you'll need to unlock and install a custom ROM (which will void the warranty). Best bet is to get a third-part warranty. Well worth the $87, in my opinion (even less if you go for a one year warranty, I'm assuming - $87 is for a two year warranty that includes accidental damage coverage, as long as you use a coupon).
In the end, what good is a warranty on a device that you are not happy with anyway?

About a month ago I bought a Chinese quad core tablet. After a week of not shipping I got a refund. After this I buy a refurbished Tf300t from newegg and got it about a week ago. It was great and I enjoyed it a lot. About 10 minutes after connecting my google account and installing a lot of apps the touch screen stops working. It won't respond in any screen orientation but I see email notifications on the lockscreen. Awhile later it starts working, then stops, then starts. I do a factory reset and a cold boot several times and the same thing happens every time.
My tablet is now in transit back to Newegg RMA, and it seems that this tablet is out of stock on the website so I'm expecting to get my money back.
So my question is, should I buy a new tf300t or something else? Is the galaxy note 10.1 or the tf700t worth it? Screen resolution is not a major concern to me, strictly performance. After having so many issues trying to get a tablet I want something that I will want to keep for awhile.

Note 10.1 is a good one, but it's more expensive though. Asus transformers tablets have good supports but they all have I/O issue due to used cheap flash memories being used.

Im for the Note 10.1. I dont think its worth the ~400 bucks people want for it though. However, if it had the TF700 display on it then i would pay the ~400 for it. But right now, im happy with my TF300T after making my edits and custom apps. Now just to get DSP working on CROMI ROM.. I already made an app to "kill" the foreground activity so i no longer need hold back to kill. CROMI seems to be the only one that likes Flash content without crashing the browser. Unless CM10.1 gets better. Im waiting for a more stable release.
But yeah Note 10.1 is my fav so far.
I bought the TF300T because it was what I could afford. It also had the keyboard option, that
I personally got a little disappointed with the tablet performance, but after I installed CleanROM,
using my tablet became a pleasure.
So, if you buy this tablet again, and flash a custom ROM, you're probably going to have a good experience.
But if money is not an issue, it might be worth it to take a look at the other options in the market.

YES i agree im running CROMI as well and after i installed my own task killer app i am loving it and i got flash working and DSP and Volume+ Sound boost working.

Yeah I was excited to flash Clean Rom, but another issue the tablet had was the error message when using the asus unlock tool. Apparently I would have had to send it to Asus to get it unlocked. Possibly because my Tf300t was refurbished.

I'm just about to receive my Infinity and have been reading through the posts here. I've read quite a few horror stories about people bricking their tablets, not being able to power it up, etc etc.
I'm not sure what version of Android it'll be running when I get it so I'd like to know what are the things I should really be avoiding when using the lock tool, flashing the boot loader and the rom (cromix :good: )?
From the impression I've got, the device seems very fickle/easy to brick/break. Am I wrong in thinking that?
The TF700 users here seem like a helpful bunch so hopefully I could get a few pointers on things NOT to do....

Hi, and welcome to the community!
First things first: check the unit thoroughly for the known issues (screen bleed, loose screen bonding, etc. Several threads in here concerning the most frequent issues.
1) If you happen to get a pre-.30 firmware (which is unlikely at this point in time), install Nvflash first and pull the backups. That might save you form not only severe headaches but a pretty stack of dollars too, if the excrement hits the ventilator.
2) Try and see if the unlock tool works. In a relatively large percentage of 700s, it doesn't. That would solve your problem instantly. (You can then proceed to update to the latest stock ROM, but no custom ROM'in' for you then. That << smiley is actually very mean, because that would be some major suck.)
3) Whatever you do, ONLY use the most recent versions of whatever recovery has your preference. Also update the bootloader to the version your ROM of choice requires!
4) Unless you have extensive experience with flashing and ROMs in general, it might be prudent to pick a stock-based ROM (i.e. CROMI-X). If you comfortable with the odd bug here and there, you might try an AOSP/AOKP/CM-based ROM and see if they fit your bill.
CROMI-X has a great OP with all the updates to bootloader and such you'll need.
5) Don't do anything if you're not sure when starting out. The 700 is not particularly easy to brick, but it is relatively hard to fix in some cases that on other devices (Samsung's comes to mind) would just mean reflashing some stuff (in Odin/Heimdall).

If it doesn't work it just gives some error message. I haven't heard of anyone bricking because the unlock tool failed, so you should be safe there. As far as I'm aware the only issue you'll have from the unlock tool not working is just the fact that you're not going to be unlocked lol.

I'm with Martin on this:
Until you are sure that your tab is not a lemon with major hardware issues I would not unlock it.
You can root it and start playing around with some more advanced settings in the meantime. Wouldn't it really suck if you unlocked and a day or week later the digitizer would go bad? Asus could say: Sorry, pal - you're unlocked, you're out of warranty.
They have repaired even unlocked devices under warranty, but you can't count on it. And in some cases the repaired tablet came back with a permanently locked bootloader....
So give it a few weeks, in the meantime start reading the relevant thread of your favorite custom ROM(s) to get a feel for them, and familiarize yourself with the process and lingo of flashing.

From the impression I've got, the device seems very fickle/easy to brick/break. Am I wrong in thinking that?
The TF700 users here seem like a helpful bunch so hopefully I could get a few pointers on things NOT to do....

Hi there,
When I had bought my tf700 I did'nt have a clue what custom rom is.
I was totally naive and ignorant as to Android technology.
I was disappointed with my TF700 performance and lived with it for a couple of months.
Afterwards, I searched the internet until I have found this marvellous forum (which attracts OCDs like the fire attracts moth).
I read and read and read and read, and read more and asked the fine users of this fine forum if I got it all right,
and then one springy night on the end of March 2013, something happened.
A magic...
"I took the red pill" , unlocked my TF700, pushed TWRP and flashed CROMI.
Everything went super.
Ever since then I follow Sbdags CROMI-X thread and keep update my firmware.
Just to remind you - I am not a Computer wizard, my occupation has got almost nothing to do with electronics and I am not a kid (actually I am 37 with many obligations like family and work - so my spare time is scarce).
And here I am - master of my TF700!
So - everything is possible!
And if you follow instructions and restrict yourself to the right method - you can be rest assured you won't brick your device.
Actually It's like cooking: you should find a good recipe and act accordingly.

So I finally got it delivered today
It looks good, no damage, screen bleed that i can see. Screen seems fine.
Its running JRO3C.US_epad-10.4.4.25-20121228
JB 4.1.1
I'm not really sure where to go from here - should I wait a few days or just unlock and put CROMI-X on now?
Speed of the system isnt bad, transitions seem a bit slow, havent really installed a bunch of apps yet...

Well, the rational next step would be to wait a week, or two, or however long you can stand it, and then unlock etc.
But where's the fun in rational, right?
Well, while you decide - why not upgrade it to JB 4.2.1? Saves you a bootloader flash and clean install later....

Is 4.2.1 worth the update? I read that 4.2.1 caused a few issues for some people....
I probably will just flash it It feels like it should run quicker, take Maps for example. seems REALLY laggy but on my N7 it was fine?

JB 4.2 was better for most people, others had issues with Bluetooth tethering and some other stuff...
The reason I recommend you upgrade to stock 4.2 is mainly that then you automatically would have the correct bootloader on our tablet.
For Cromi-X you need the 4.2 bootloader. If you are on 4.1 you have to flash it before you flash Cromi-X, if you are already on 4.2 you're good to go. One less thing that could go wrong....

EDIT - ok, updated manually. Trying to use the unlock tool but getting "Unkown Error. This may be a connection issue" - is that what'll happen if it's not gonna work for me?

You could have got the Nook HD+ 32GB for $180 and dead easy to root and put CM 10.1 or Carbon on it and no concern of bricking it. Stock 2.1 on the HD+ is barely ok (very barely), but CM 10.1 rocks.
A little smaller tablet, but same great display resolution. I use this more than my iPad 4 now, which is both a compliment to the HD+ and an insult to how much I paid for the iPad 4.

Personally, when I had this problem, I just tried to run the app every day for a week oe so and it eventually works, but others have had to use tricks. Use the search for unlock, you will find several ideas about fixing it.
I've noticed that the quality of discussion in the TF700 forums is much better than most at XDA. It is getting to be time to replace my Evo 4G. I shattered the screen yesterday. I like that the Samsung S4 has a quad core processor, replaceable battery, and takes microSD cards. Does anyone have experience rooting them and applying/doing the type of ROM/kernel optimization like is done here? Or, should i look at another option? I was even thinking of getting an S III as an option. Thx!

I've got a rooted S4 it's very easy and almost fool proof due to the PIT function of Odin
The quality level of discussions is directly related to the price of the device.
I do not have any experience with the S4, sadly.

Look what I am on atm . I have the at&t version and I must say it is am excellent device. However with all the stock bloody it can bog down but with modding being easy if you find the information, which is almost impossible as it looks
like a tornado went through that forum cm it is fairly simply and I think only maybe 4 or 5 people have actually bricked it.

Did you see my post over there? Even with PIT and Odin my phone was still bricked until I git kies to see my phone, but even after that it still would boot but after I ran kies I let it sit without the battery for 10 minutes and it finally got into the recovery. Since if the most stressful 6 hours of my life trying to get my phone working again. It just goes to show no matter your experience and the recovery options available you can still brick your phone.

I agree and with not a ton of people in this section it keeps things calm and tranquil. Even over in the s4 forms coming over here is like being at home. Though there are some great people over there as well.

If even PIT repartitioning failed, it must have been pretty bad indeed. If the S4 is anything like the S2, ODIN will save your bacon many times, but if you really, really, really give it your best shot, it is of course brickable.
I've debated going S4, but it will be at least two more years until the 4G network is broadly available here in the Netherlands, The S3 is not an immense upgrade currently, as I use the 700 for most things Android anyway... Guess I'll go sim-only for now and save my money for the next best things next year.

It was really bad but at least I recovered it. Some folks who did what I did couldn't get it working but

Well from what I understand the stock zip for the s4 does not include the recovery partition. Somehow the kernel and recovery went boom and all it would do is go into Odin, otherwise it just stayed black and vibrated every 3 seconds, not even the boot loader logo showed. It was very scary but I am now more familiar with Odin and how to unbrick it. Now that I am thinking about it the other people may of been able to recover it. If this would of happened then the s4 would be unbrickable. There is no official unlock only an exploit pointed for the kernel. What must of happened when I had tried flashing an unpatched kernel, so it would flash, and a Rom incompatible with it all it screwed it all up. The s4 is a wonderful device however I would give it a little more time should you mod because things need more time to move forward. However if you wait to long Samsung or AT&T may patch the exploit.

Oh I know... I just did the same thing last week
Had to renew my T-mo contract. They bloody cheated me out of my 800 euro prepaid stack, but alas. Getting a 2GB 90 minute plan with an S4 would cost me €40 a month AND €400 for the phone.. Nuhuh, I'll keep my S3, cheers... SimOnly is €23 for the same thing.
That and the last thing I want is a branded phone.
For now I'm waiting to see what the Note 3's going to be. Loving the sound of an S800 with 3GB ram
Just found out about the MAJOR lag issues surrounding it I have 14 days to return it. I was looking for a $400 tablet, not too old with good battery life and came across this.
Do the clean and cromi-x roms 'renew' it completely?
Would you have returned your tablet and gotten something else if you'd known this would happen??
Should i return it, or just keep it (and flash)?
I keep hearing people saying to get the nexus 10, but even that has its issues apparently (battery drain + slow charging).

Yes, clean rom cromi, cm10.1, etc.. speed up the device very well! it will fly
I own a TF300T and we have basicly the same thing on stock rom: very bad lag! so if you like stock i would reccomend crom-x/cleanrom or TF700 specific roms based on stock
Honestly i would return it and save the money for some upcoming device.It's one year old,you have to unlock it (and loose your warranty) in order to have more decent performance and you will mostlikely end-up spending more time to tweak the device than actually enjoy it.Ofcourse this is only my opinion,the final decision it's up to you.

If I had it to do over again...it would go back. Sorry to say that but you should NOT have to make ANY changes to a tablet that is supposed to be at the top of the line. My wife's AT105-T1032 Toshiba, is a lot more stable than the TF700.
Here are some of MY problems:
ANY browser will loose input from the onscreen keyboard...doesn't matter if it's Asus KB or Swiftkey or Google
The lag is so bad at times the KB won't appear for a second or two
ANY browser will just force close for no appearent reason...doesn't happen often but it does happen
The screen is loose on the lower right corner, I thought this issue had fixed itself but I noticed it again the other day
When posting on forums none of the browsers work correctly. They make it a horrible experiance and I usually have to give up and go to my PC to complete posts I want to make. If you insert a word that was mispelled it usually will appear at the top of the post you are making and delete any text it replaces. VERY VERY frustrating and has been an issue for me from day 1. (a year ago)
Here's how I intend to fix them:
When the warranty is up I will try rooting and unlocking and a different ROM. If I can't get that to make it work right for me I WILL take it out in the driveway and beat the living crap out of it, place it in a box and send it back to Asus with a detailed explanation of why they now have it in their hands
Now- it's your decision to make and you will probably read a lot of negitive replies as well as see quite a few on the forums about TF201 and TF700. It seems like people go to the forums to complain not realizing that they aren't supported by Asus. So get ready for more like this one but also you'll get quite a few saying how great this tablet is. It still all comes down to YOU.
I have NEVER been this frustrated by any computer and I'm not a happy Asus customer. BUT I will still buy Asus products, just no more tablets. I have an old P5GPL (P4) Asus motherboard that has been running for 8-9? years and has never given me one days trouble. I've replaced everything around it, power supply, hard drive and video card and it just keeps on keepin' on!

@Pretoriano80, after being on the custom rom for some time, do you see it using too much memory or getting sluggish? It's one year old but the new 10inch tablets are $500 and up. what option do i have?
I looked through your all in one guide but wouldn't know where to start since my tablet is already updated to 4.2.1.
So how would one unlock the bootloader if the instructions listed were for version below 4.2.1?
Does it mean Id have to downgrade to ICS first?
Also don't know what comes first, unlocking or rooting. Just rooting the device will not allow installation of Cromi-x/cleanRom right?
Please please return it...I know you will be tempted to unlock and install CROMI. But don't....I am using the tablet for the last 6 months I think. If it weren't for CROMI, I would have jumped over it in anger.

I kinda agree with the above, but I bought a used one of eBay not knowing what I'd gotten into. I just want to check email, watch movies, shop, etc. No real life-saving issues. Didn't notice much lag or problem with stock but went ahead and installed CROMI-X not knowing anything about android, etc. I love mine. At 400, maybe not, half the price, sure.

You can ROOT your device without unlocking your bootloader, but you can't install custom roms and a custom recovery in this case, just some apps that need rooting or some tweaks. The good part with only rooting is that your warranty will still be valid because you can return to a clean stock rom anytime. For rooting your device on 4.2.1 you will have to use MotoChopper (search in the tf700t forum).
If you unlock the bootloader then you can kiss goodbye your warranty and enjoy custom roms, custom kernels, etc but you can't go back to a bootloader locked state anymore.
No matter what you will choose (root or unlocking) don't expect miracles or else you will be disappointed. The first time you install a rom you will notice much gain in performance, but after you install some of your favourite apps you will see the performance going down again (imho this is also the reason why you can find bad and good opinions about this device, because everyone use it in different ways). Also forget about benchmarks it won't do any good to you or the device itself and you will just end-up just hunting higher scores.
I really don't know which device to recommend you becaause i only have this one, but read some reviews from trusted sites (Engadget for example was maybe one of the few to do a honest review about the tf700t) or wait until some new generation devices will be released.
Btw one year ago i paid 500€ just for the tablet so paying 500$ now for a new generation device it's in line with the tablet market in my opinion, so once again mate, it's your call.

I did a lot of hunting around on craigslist and ended picking up a 64GB tab with the docking station and quite a few accessories for a little less than half of retail. I then immediately unlocked and rooted it, installed CROMI-X, and tried a coupe different kernels until I found the combination that worked for me. Finally I created a Nandroid of this setup and started using the tab.
I did have experience rooting and ROM'ing as well so I knew that I would be comfortable with that aspect and I always try to stay a little behind the curve of teh latest gadget so others can figure out how to fix the issues (because for every device there are issues).
As of right now I couldn't be happier. I got a tab that does everything I need it to and it seems sufficiently fast and responsive to me.
Would I have been happy if I paid full price a year ago and had to suffer through all of the issues that I hear being talked about on this forum? No. but at half price and time to give the great and dedicated developers on this site a chance to address the worst of the issues, Hell yeah, Great tab :good:

Thanks guys, I'll just return it then. I did a lot of research as well before picking this one...its a great tablet, but not worth full price considering its drawback. I'll probably wait for the next Infinity Pad that's coming out, although I've been hearing that even Tegra 4 has issues

Thanks guys, I'll just return it then. I did a lot of research as well before picking this one...its a great tablet, but not worth full price considering its drawback. I'll probably wait for the next Infinity Pad that's coming out, although I've been hearing that even Tegra 4 has issues

Try cm 10.2 no more lag at all:thumbup:
I agree with everyone here. Return it. If you want a tablet right now just get the Nexus 10 or maybe even the Toshiba Excite Pro or sony experia z. If you want a kb dock get the HP slatebook x2 which I just bought and it a very speedy and smooth tablet. Screen isn't as high contrast and cant get as bright but it's not too bad. But if you can wait just wait for Asus to release the new Infinity pad and hopefully it performs as well as the slatebook x2. I have gotten so used to the tf700 that I did not realize how bad it really is even with cromi x or data2sd mod compared to the slatebook. So please take everyone's advice on this one.

I tried it and does get rid of transition stutter but it still lags here and there. It's still in its early stages so maybe it will get better but thats a big risk the OP will have to make.

Try CROMi-X 4.7. The only lag I get is on wake up since I disable wifi in deep sleep. No transition/scrolling lag whatsoever, browsing is lightning fast.

I've been on cromi x for a while now. You must've set your transition to 0 to not notice any lag in transition. There's still I/O issue no matter which cromi version or kernel. Anyway were getting off subject. Thanks for the advice. Let's get back on topic.

P.S: I use cromi, still a failure. My droid razr dual core beats this quad so badly...

Try my latest beta version - I found some settings that may help some of the IO issues when downloading files or using the sdcard.
