[Q] problems with hdmi - LG Optimus 3D

hey guys, i searched this entire forum, but im pretty sure the answer is inside one of the development threads. um, did anyone who previously had a problem with hdmi sound get a solution?

im gonna revive this, and hopefully someone has a solution, but missed this thread

insert hdmi after playback

What are you trying to play that does not work? Using a tv? I have 3d video I recorded and sound works fine, but I use a 120Hz pc monitor with sound running through a receiver. I have a 3d bluray movie I formatted for the small screen that works over hdmi too. I'm not sure what happens with a tv though...

HDMI issue? Netflix

I am using stock, factory stock. The hdmi out works with videos and netflix, but the video looks choppy on my tv and goes to a black screen randomly. I have a lcd hd tv, using micro hdmi to tv, no adapters. Is this a known issue, choppy video?

The same thing happens on my phone. I believe that the phone is having trouble processing the video for both screens.
I am also on stock EE4. Is there anyone using a custom rom that does not have this problem?

I did read that somebody was using a gb leak and their issue was the video not working but for a few seconds at the beginning.

I am using stock froyo and im not getting that issue. Netflix renderes smooth. Its a little pixelated because the tv is 60in .. but other than that its hardly different than using the ps3 version of netflix

I've done more tests tonight. HDMI with netflix and recorded video from phone plays choppy on tv. Could this be the cable? It looks clear on the charge when the video is playing.

I noticed the tv screen going black a couple times, but I attributed it to me moving the phone around while i was holding it in my hand, and the hdmi cable connection getting loose. This is with a cheap $4 cable, so that may have something to do with it.
Got a new cable and it works great now.

Which cable did you get?
A $4 cable off ebay. They are all the same.

I'm having the same problem. I got the charge specifically to run Netflix through my phone to my 60in TV. The picture is pixelated and I'm quite disappointed. I was better off running it through my computer to my TV.
Are there any settings I can tweak on my phone, or TV, to correct this so I can enjoy Netflix?
Btw I'm rooted running Gummy Charged 1.9.1 and pbj with voodoo lag fix.
Its a phone...to a TV. Seriously, what do you expect? Overclocking does help a bit.

Maybe you could step up and explain why it doesn't work well, what is to be expected and possibly offer an alternative solution if there is one. The pigeon method of flying in to crap on something and quickly flying back out never helped anybody.

The video is optimized for mobile screens would be my guess so they aren't as data intensive as the set top box streams...when you blow an image up to 46" that is meant for 4-10" screens its going to be pixelated

This is exactly why. also netflix.does not stream all its content in hd. If you are watching a non hd stream the imperfections are going to be magnified on the big screen. Try copying an hd video (divx format or something compatible) and play it on the tv you will see a noticeable difference. You could also stream a known hd vid and check it. I think heroes is in hd.

Anyway to get Android Phone to wirelessly display on big screen tv?

I want to be able to beam wirelessly what's on my Android Charge phone to my large screen tv... as we know the Android Charge has an HDMI output.. but I want to do this wirelessly... I found out that Bluetooth is TOO slow for this use.. I just got a laptop with the new Intel WiFi built into it.. just wondering if it's possible to use a technology like this with the Android smartphone?

You might be able to do it with dlna, but only while playing videos

DLNA is your best option. HDMI wireless adapters are over $100. Why not just use a regular HDMI cable?

well this is my issue... I have a big screen tv that I'm looking to cancel my ridiculously expensive monthly cable on (that I don't even get HD with btw). I have a Boxee Box hooked up to this tv... the Boxee Box is great for local content on my LAN, for Netflix, Vudu, etc. BUT... I really want Hulu+ and it doesn't look like that is going to be coming to the Boxee Box anytime soon (if at all ever).
So I was thinking... I could use my Droid Charge smartphone to run Hulu+ on it... but then I would need to get that video content onto my big screen tv... I don't want to keep my phone plugged into the tv via HDMI cable.. so I am looking for a way to transmit the video from my phone to my TV.. not sure if this is possible?
What about vnc? You could have the viewer on either the boxxee box or laptop. I believe there are vnc clients in the market. Only problem would be sound. Also , why not connect the laptop to stream via HDMI to the TV.
Btw quality would be unbareble from this phone . I'd be surprised if it was watchable

If your tv is internet compatible, then you can do this.
tappin' that....
No the tv is not
Being that almost every television made in the last two to three years ago has internet, (including mine) I'm intrigued by this post.
one thing I may experiment tonight is connecting the Charge to the TV via HDMI wire, and use the "Viera Link" on Panasonic TV. This Viera link supposedly allows the TV's remote control to control any device when connected via HDMI.... will post results later.
however, I have seen with an internet TV that the "allshare" app does show a movie file on the tv wirelessly, just could not get the movie to play.
the FIOS remote app though, does allow me to stream photos on the tv wirelessly.

It can output HD video fine. I had no problem watching HD videos from movies downloaded with my MediaHub credit on a 42" HDTV (well, no problem after I got around the DRM).
Keep in mind, for whatever you're trying to play, if it's DRM protected you may be unable to play it over an HDMI connection.
Do tell how did you get around the drm?

Some of the earlier GB leaks (like EP1W) seemed to not have DRM fully implemented so you could output video if you connected the HDMI cable after starting video playback. I'm assuming this was "fixed" at some point but not sure when.

Unless using vnc or any display mimicking program which only displays the resolution of the phone not its capable HDMI output resolution

Of course the only way to get HD video displayed is to output HD video. That's kind of self evident. If you're not streaming media stored on the device, that limits you to using the HDMI output.
That means either connect the phone with HDMI cable or spend $150+ on a wireless HDMI kit and try and get that working.
The easier route would be for the OP to hook up his new laptop to the TV (assuming it has a DVI/HDMI output) and watch it that way. He may have to put down $30 for a cable, but at least he won't have to keep his phone tethered to the television.

Ah ha. So that explains why someone claimed they could do it with gummy charged rom. Thx.
Would bw nice if one of our esteemed developers could unblock that either via updated rom or app. I would certainly pay for that - to get nfl network to display on my tv from my phone.

Output Video to TV

Does anyone know if this product:
Micro USB to HDMI® MHL Adapter
http://www.monoprice.com/products/p...=10833&cs_id=1083314&p_id=8805&seq=1&format=2
Would work on the HTC Thunderbolt to output video to a TV?
I don't know but for $10 how much is going to hurt if it doesn't work? I like the idea though.
Sent from my ADR6400L using Tapatalk 2
I just got a response on another forum that it doesn't work. Apparently the thunderbolt doesn't have the MHL adapter capability.
So is there any other way then to get video on your TV from the Thunderbolt?
I have never been able to get the DLNA player working on the phone. If that is the only way then I would appreciate a how-to guide on getting it to work.

Don't rhink the thunderbolt has dlna or mhl.

dlna does work with the thunderbolt. I have used windows 7 media center and a smart TV with Wifi to send videos and music. It can be a little slow, but it may have been the Wifi network I was on. If you don't have a built-in media share app on the rom you are using, you can find some on the play store.
USE twonky works great u get a free couple of uses after that have to pay

MHL to DVI

Just in case anyone is interested, I just got this:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA0PG0822857
and it's working perfectly fine with my 22" Samsung monitor on the DVI input. I'm actually using it right now , I also paired my bluetooth keyboard. There is one issue with it, not sure if it's a ICS thing, but I can't figgure out why the youtube videos don't work, it displays the first frame of it but won't play. I'll digg into that later...
It also has a usb port witch is used for charging the phone.

Thank you! I needed one for my older Dell monitor that is lacking HDMI. I'd rather have one that is confirmed to work than having to go through the whole buy/return ordeal if I had issues. Thanks again for testing and posting this. I appreciate it.
Can someone answer a few questions on this?
Do the Nintendo/sega emulators display ok using this adapter?
How about videos played from the sd card with either the stock video player or Dice?
Thanks!

[Q] (Q) Headphone Jack Issues PLS Help!

Okay so I'm completely stumped at this problem. I plug in headphones, aux cords and my headphone icon becomes active, but when using music player or gallery video it acts as if headphones are being unplugged and plugged back in. Youtube works just fine and anything played through browser. I'm really at a loss here. I'm running 4.2.2 on a Chinese clone note 3. Any suggestions or help is appreciated!
Have you tried using a third party music player suck as Poweramp or Rocket Player? Do they have the same outcome?
I tried overplayed with the same outcome. I'm gonna download Pandora and see what happens with that. I just can't understand why youtube works fine.

Never mind on YouTube working I guess it was just acting right temporarily. I played a full song on YouTube earlier but now I get about 5 seconds or so on all sound through head phone jack.
