Hello, This is my first post to these forums and I really don't know a ton about Android/phones in general so hopefully I'm posting this in the right place. I will be living in China for the next year and I was wondering how I should go about getting a Chinese SIM card to work on my Verizon Galaxy S III. Do I need to unlock my phone beforehand and does it matter which carrier I use, aka do I need to find a GSM carrier? If anyone has done this before, which I'm sure plenty of people have, any help on which carrier to pick etc. etc. would be super helpful.
Thanks in advance for any help!

My gf has a Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE. As we all know, it has an embedded SIM. She is a dual US and EU citizen, so that means alot of travel back and forth. After years, she has finally found a phone she loves, but, unlike my Droid Razr, when we travel she can't just pop a European sim in because of the emedded sim in the Q.
Now, Sprint does have international roaming, but it costs you your kidney. So I've been searching the web for a solution. I have ideas, but, none good. I apologize because some of this has been addressed elsewhere, but, I'm willing to paypal someone a 'reward' if they help us resolve this, and as I think the Photon Q LTE is not the only one with this embedded Sim thing, I think the Note 2 by Samsung is riddled with the same issue. Maybe we would develop a solution the community at large could use.
1. There is a gentleman who installed a sim reader in place of the fixed sim, but his solution seems to have left him with problems, and I;ve never soddered anything in my life.
2. There seem to be websites and apps offering OTA Sim programming for travellers. Is it possible the phone could be unlocked (the internal sim) and programmed for a european carrier via one of these services.
3. Is there such a thing an an external sim reader, which could somehow be part of a case?
Any help is appreciated, and a fully working solution will be rewarded, as much as poor freelancers can provide a reward.
Only promising thing I've seen for the Q is here..

First of all, I'm sorry if there's a thread that answers this question, I looked for it and had no luck finding it.
One of my relatives brought her Verizon HTC incredible 2 from the US to her sister (to Armenia) but it's locked to Verizon so she can't use it here. I know that this phone's hardware can't work on T-mobile and/or At&t but I've heard that it can work on other, international bands. I (my relative who owns the phone) contacted Verizon from US and asked to unlock it but they refused to do so, saying that it's made for Verizon so it can't be unlocked. I just wanted to know whether there's a way of unlocking it or not, and if there is a way then how is it? I've seen online sites that offer unlocking codes for around 15$ but I kinda don't trust them. I'm completely new to this and have no idea whether rooting will help or not. Please help me out here.
Thanks in advance,
Raul
Anyone? Please say whatever you know, I really need help.
Hi everyone, and thank you for taking the time to help me.....
I am fairly underachieving with tech aspects of my Sprint Galaxy S5, software version is G900PVPU3BOF6/Hardware G900P.04, I include that info if its needed..
My question is, I am going to Greece in 1 month and want to be able to buy a local SIM card and plug it in and use it with a local number...is it as simple as changing the settings - networks to GSM mode?
I am so confused, reading another thread that says you have downgrade to kitkat, then something about a guy named Odin...
Anyone please, please help me out? I just want to use the phone locally with a local sim card, as I have friends there that I want to be able to call me...
Thank you in advance,
Niko
Call Sprint international and ask then to unlock it. If they do that all you will need to do in Greece is change to gsm, put in the new SIM card and possibly add the apn settings for the local carrier. International is very helpful, or at least they try to be. The place you buy the SIM card should be able to help with the apn settings.
Hi all ! Ok so my gf is about to go abroad in a few days and we'd like to have her Samsung S7 Duos ( SM-G930FD i think) so it would work in UAE. We've tried using the various unlocking website and even went to a store close to us to have it unlocked to no avail so I was thinking if maybe someone here can point me to a few guides so I can do it myself. I am well aware of the risks and am fairly confident in my ability to learn. Now the problem is that with the dual sim phone she has the 2nd sim slot comes openline by default (contract phone for 2 years) but it cannot connect to any mobile data network except that of the first sim's carrier. Yes i know we could have this unlocked by the carrier but she stopped paying her bill last month coz of the crappy service and honestly it's a waste of money if we do that. Anyway, can someone point me/ give me some tips as to how I go about doing this? Will rooting and flashing firmware solve this? Or do I use other softwares like Odin etc etc? Would really appreciate any help I could get. Thank you for reading.

I don't have this device but, your best bet is to post this question within the following Q&A thread that's specific to your device and variants.

Hey everyone. Sorry for the noob and the redundant question. I've combed through all of the 930P forums for an answer and my head is spinning in circles. Let's cut to it...
I have an unlocked S7 from sprint. My son has used it for about a year as a tablet using wifi. It has never been activated through sprint. I am a verizon customer and want to get a verizon SIM working with it so he can have a fully functional phone. I've read at least a dozen different threads on what to do, but don't want to brick the it. It shows 'Invalid SIM card' message when I put the verizon SIM card in it and the phone does not have any of the Samsung bloatware on it. Can anyone help or point me in a good direction, or would it be easier to sell it and find a Verizon variant? Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED! I have a 7 year old who is BUGGING me about his phone.
