[Q] Problem with SIM unlock - HTC Inspire 4G

I will be abroad this summer (outside of the USA) for a good amount of time and wanted to verify that my HTC Inspire 4G was going to work with a SIM I will be purchasing for the portion of my trip in which I will be in China. Unfortunately I will not have the SIM card until I arrive there so there is no way for me to test my phone at the moment. I just want to make sure I'm not going to get there and not be able to use the SIM. I rooted my device back in 2010 with the ACE Hack Kit. I went into my bootloader just now and selected "simlock" and it gave me these results:
FAT32 init OK
open MCCMNC file fail
open CID file fail
Process done, reboot device
<VOL UP> Yes
I am assuming that this is not good? Can anyone provide me with some input on this issue? I did a Google search on the problem but did not find much. Some people were saying that its a bad SDcard but I have now tried 3 micro SD cards with no luck.
Any help is appreciated!

Ha, another guy from Alabama, nice...ROLL TIDE ROLL..anyways, you used AAHK to root, superCID sim unlock so your ability to use different carriers is there...when I first got the phone, I was on T-Mobile but only limited to edge network but I'm back on AT&T...that aside, I'm not sure why your getting those problems because I've never seen those kinds of problems before

If you used the Hack Kit and your Device is already S-OFF, then you are simunlocked. That doesn't mean that all sim cards work with a sim unlocked device.

No Sim Card?????

OK so hears my question I currently acquired a t moble htc sensation 4g from a friend who cant afford it anymore. I have a free phone with 250 mins a month and it uses at&t network found that out by the phone number look up.
My nephew also has a t mobile Sim it wouldn't dial out but didn't say no Sim.
I already know that the phone has to be unlocked to use other Sim cards and I did method 1 of unlocking my phone http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1232107 but only the date was displayed instead of my Sim code now before I proceed with method 2 of unlocking I wanted to know if it would then recognize my Sim card and work or any other way to make it work before I use this method Please help.

I got the 'STRING: NOT FOUND' error on method one, so I moved to ADB Guide method and successfully unlocked it.

If you unlock the phone, it will still work with the original SIM card.
One possible reason that the other T-Mobile SIM didn't work is that it might not have been a newer 4G-capable SIM card, or the contacts became dirty ( they can easily be cleaned with a pencil eraser).

No sim in Inspire

Is it possible to use the Inspire without a sim card on WIFI for internet and email?
Every Android phone I have ever used has allowed me to "use" the phone without a sim card, but the inspire has a pop up message saying:
phone options
unable to detect your sim card.
Please make sure that your sim
card is properly inserted and
restart your phone.
The only two options that I have are "shut phone down" or "restart", and I have been unable to find a way past this message to use this as a wifi only device.

You should have not an issue to do that....make sure that there's no SIM in the phone or you won't be able to use it. With no sim on it u can access the phone and use WI FI and mail with no problems at all...I am currently using it no sim at all...
theres no sim in it, yet i keep getting that same message....tried rebooting the phone and everything.

Have u entered wrong unlock code a few time? that will lock the sim...Maybe u can try rooting and gaining S-OFF to see what happens...of course is your choice, but the Hack Kit will give u simunlock...it should work after that.

I actually just picked this phone up via a trade so my wife could try Android out, so all I can say is that I haven't entered the wrong unlock code as I haven't attempted to unlock it.
Thanks for the help, though, I appreciate it.
yeah easy way is just to run the ace hack kit...it will unlock and root it...THEN you shouldn't have no problem of running it without sim card...very simple and easy to do too

[Q] inspire 4g, it doesnt ask for unlock code but have no service

hello everyone,
of course im a total noob so i am in desperate need of your help.
i just bought an unlocked att htc inspire 4g from amazon and when i tried to use it with my carrier, i reside in argentina, it says "no service"
and i cant connect to my carrier. if i dont put my sim card it says " no sim card" but i put it in, it just stays in no service and doesnt ask me for any code to unlock it.
now i ve done some searching before posting and I've done the power, - volume thingie and my phone says s-off in the menu.
the phone's band matches the one in my country so thats not the issue.
how can i make this phone work so it can recognize the carrier?
hope sombody can give me a hand

Can't anybody help me? Please! I've search troughout the forum and couldn't find anything related...the phone says s-off rl when I enter bootloader but apparently it is not rooted since i tried to instal cynogenmod and was not able to, neither could I use clockworkmod? (Can't remember if that is the exact name...)
I could not rooot the device either with htcdev tool since I can't install the ruu and can't use the rom.zip file either so I can't go through with the rooting
I don't care too much about rooting anyway, but I thought that if I root the device I can change the radio frec and finally I can use my freaki phone
Help would really be apreciated since I'm really lost here

[Q] No sim card - no service after unlocking

Hi all, I think I looked everywhere for similar issue, including xda, but no luck. I got my "new" Sensation yesterday and, obviously, I wanted to have a custom rom as I do on my Desire. So I unlocked the bootloader and flashed both recovery and new rom (yes, the phone is still S-ON because I just couldn't get it to S-OFF, no matter what method I tried there was always an issue and I couldn't complete the procedure. if it's important I can explain in details what I tried/not tried). Right now it sits on CM-10.2 | AOSP 4.3 Jellybean [KANG] with 4EXT recovery. Everythin is fine however the phone is locked to O2 and I'm with T-Mobile. I tried to get the phone to S-OFF in order to remove the simlock myself but as I mentioned, no luck. So I got pissed off and I bought the unlock pin code. I've inserted my T-Mobile card, phone asked for the pin, I've entered it and boom, phone is unlocked. Great, I think to myself... well not really. One, the phone just won't get the signal (and I tried putting it to GSM mode only) and two, every time I reboot it the message to enter network pin come up . So I enter the code again and that's the end of the loop. Tried hard reset after entering the pin code but after a reboot it would still ask for the unlock pin and then won't pick up any signal. I've tried giffgaff sim card and that works straight away (as it works under O2) so it's not the phone issue (well, not the sim card port anyway).
Any ideas/solution/questions a-ny-thing would be greatly appreciated as I'm about to rage quit and give up on it .

Hi,
Could it just be the t-mob sim card?
Is there any chance to get a new one from them?

Thought that but the card works fine in my Desire. Never had any problems with it. What gets me is that constant message asking for the network pin after rebooting the phone. Surely once the code is entered the phone is unlocked ...
If I can't find any solution by monday I'll visit their shop and ask for a new sim or I'll just move my number to giffgaff >_>
Obviously if anyone has any solutions or ideas feel free to share them and I will be sure to try them. I'd really appreciate it!!
Sorry for double post

issue carrier unlocking my one x

Hey guys,
It has been a long time since I have done everything with my AT&T One X and I am having some trouble. I want to carrier unlock my phone so I can use it when I travel to Israel in 2 weeks. I got the code from AT&T through their website. I am running CM-NostromoPop v2.0.4.
The directions I received from AT&T are:
1. Power off the device and remove the AT&T SIM card.
2. Insert non-AT&T SIM card.
3. Power on the device. Wait a few moments, allowing the device to fully power-up.
4. Enter the unlock code when prompted.
5. Press OK. The device is unlocked.
The only microSIM I have is a Verizon SIM I use in my Verizon tablet. It is active on a Verizon account. I put that SIM in and turned on the phone, it popped up asking for the code, I type the code in correctly and press Unlock (it doesn't say OK) and it says "unlock unsuccessful" and waits for me to put the code in again. Has anyone run into the problem? Is the problem more likely to be CyanogeMod of the SIM card? I am currently installing ViperXL on my phone to see if a stock ROM would work better but I only have 2 tries left until my phone is permanently locked to the AT&T network.
I called AT&T and they said factory reset the phone or bring it into an AT&T store. I can't do either of those without flashing back to stock and I cannot figure out how to do that. Can someone explain to me or link me to a post on how to flash back to complete stock (the latest stock version preferrably, I probably won't be rooting my phone or anything anymore)
Some info about my phone:
I am S-OFF
CID is 11111111
HBOOT is 2.15
Radio is 1.31a.32.45.16_2
Recovery is TWRP 2.8.7.1
Thank you very much in advance
