Best Bluetooth audio mod? - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

So I use my phone in my car for Pandora and Google music. It sounds good stock but I was looking for any additional mods to play with it. Not sure if the audio mods out there affect Bluetooth or not. Any suggestions?

Looks pretty solid. Which version do we need for the sgs3 or is it both? I'm looking at in on my phone through the app and its a little confusing.

FX version 2.2.0.5 / XHiFi version 2.0.0.8
Install them both just like normals apps
They will ask you to install drivers
for FX click CortexA15/Neon
XHiFi Cortex/Neon
and Reboot
Once you are done with a reboot, go to system > sound > music effects > V4A FX > Profit.
Both of them can run together simultaneously.

Thanks a lot! Got it running. But are you sure it works with Google Music and Pandora? I'm playing music in my car and switching between a lot of settings in the FX app and nothing is changing. Not sure if I'm missing something or what.

It wasn't working with Pandora for me as well, but one day after cache/dalvik or might have been dirty flash since it removes files.
Play around with it for a bit.
It should work with every audio output.

okay good deal. Just curious, why do you have master power off? Doesn't that need to be on for it work?

Yes you have to turn on master power or nothing will work. If you are in compatible mode with both apps you want to select another option in your sound settings, I use the standard FX. Also don't be concerned it the driver status screen shows the app isn't working, it's a problem with the status screen. You should be able to hear a major difference by switching the master power off and then back on. You will hear a difference when you switch the other settings but some will be fairly subtle.

Yeah I got it working, but I only hear a difference with my bluetooth headphones. A big difference actually. In my car, I'm not getting the differences. I'm thinking because my Pioneer head unit. It has its built in own EQ curve settings that I can change but I don't think I can turn it off. Not sure if that's whats causing the issue or not. But I did notice it does make it a little too "bassy". I'm sure that can be adjusted though. I just wish I could get it to work in my car because that's where I really want it.

If you are still having trouble with Pandora, here's the solution
using root explorer or similar app, edit build.prop > lpa.decode=true to lpa.decode=false > reboot.

PowerAmp Problem???

This is a great player but I wish it had a better way to organize play lists other then going through the native android system. I am having a problem with playing back music. When I get songs with a good bit of bass in them I get some distortion. I do not get the same when I use the native player or winamp. It happens with or without the EQ turned on but less with the EQ turned off. Anybody have any ideas why this would be. Maybe different audio codecs???
The distortion sounds like sssttt every time the bass would hit.
P.S. - I am running poweramp on the HTC EVO and these are unmodified Mp3 files I am running.
change the pre-amp
tried that but have the same problem...that just seems to minimize the problem but it is still there.

[Q] possible to increase volume?

hey guys. i like watching movies and shows on the Xoom. but i've found that unless i'm using headphones, the volume leaves much to be desired for the most part. this doesn't happen when watching youtube videos or listening to music. but anything played through rockplayer or moboplayer (i.e. avis, mp4s, etc) leaves me wanting more volume.
is there a way to increase the volume on the Xoom like there is for the Evo and other android devices through qpst or other apps?
thanks
Try Volume+. It's what I am using.
Just installed Volume+ but won't have a chance to play with it until later. What settings do you use?
You can also use Equalizer from Smart Android Apps. I use this for my general music listening and it automatically adjusts the EQ based on the type of music I am listening to. What you can also do is manually adjust the EQ settings and boost the volume quite a bit. You do have to be careful though as you can easily distort the sound if you boost it too much. The paid version gives you the ability to create and edit the EQ presets and added widget support. Otherwise the free version works great and is pretty feature packed.
I looked through the market for "Volume+" and could not find it. Can you provide a link?

Here it is:
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.TEST.android.lvh&feature=search_result
My settings on this are:
Speaker Volume Level +4
Headset Volume Level +3
Bluetooth Volume Level +4
I'm sure I could go higher, but there's no need for me to. I've not changed the EQ settings, but it allows you to do that as well. I've used PowerAmp and love it, because of its EQ function. But with this Volume+ I've been using the stock music player and am quite happy. And this solved the low volume issue I was having with my Jawbone Jambox bluetooth speaker.

[Q] Beats Audio

I'm still not allow to post on dev threads (not 10 posts yet) so I'll try here.
I just installed the Executioner Rom 2.5, which is great by the way.
When I am in Pandora or Music Player and change Beats Audio settings I cannot hear a difference.
If I go into music player and use the built in EQ I hear the music change.
Does anyone else using this Rom or others know how to get Beats Audio settings to work?
I can turn it on or off and it always sounds the same. It seems like I'm not using it correctly.
You have to open beats audio and enable for speaker, head phones, and blue tooth individually. Also there is a section for effects and you can select light moderate or heavy. Have you tried it that way. There is also another spot for EQ either pre set or set it the way you like it.

Yeah, it is enabled under system settings. I also enabled headset and speaker. No matter which settings a change it sounds the same. When it is turned off it sounds the same. I'm pretty convinced it is installed, but not working with this ROM. If anyone know how to make it work though please let me know.
You could just use a flashable zip

Try going to settings, sound, sound effects. Then choose beats as your equalizer. Hope this works. If not try acid audio 5 with Walkman add-on. Sounds great with Walkman player.

Wipe caches, fix permission. Then go into setting, sound, music effects, beats
Sent from my SCH-I535 using Tapatalk 2
So I went and looked at the Acid 5 and it states that the two equalizers that come in the Executioner Rom do not work together.
Beats was already activated under settings as I said so it must be that they are not compatible.
I went ahead and uninstalled all of the equalizers and installed the Sony Walkman App.
It sounds really good with Acid, but the enhanced sound does not work (crashes the app).
I expected that much because that feature doesn't work on any rom I've tried.
Now I'm going to try uninstalling everything again and just installing Acid and Beats.
Hopefully, Beats will actually do something if I remove the other equalizers.
I think Beats is more of what I am looking for because I don't want to have to use Walman app.
I've tried tons of Acid Audio combinations. The only time there is a difference is when installing Acid vrs. before Acid.
On the GS3 with any of the Touch Roms you can go into sounds settings and changing them does nothing.
I'm not complaining. Acid by itself is just fine. I just want to post this so others know not to waste their time.
Don't bother installing any of the Add-Ons. Just install Acid and be done with it.
If you like Walkman and don't mind the sound enhancements do not work, then it is a good choice.

Viper Audio Mod (root required)

THIS IS NOT MY MOD. I AM NOT THE DEVELOPER. GO TO THE OFFICIAL THREAD AND SUPPORT THE DEVS CAUSE THIS MOD IS A BEAST.
This is by far the best sounding device for the Viper mod (imo).
Follow this link and READ the op, then download zip for the latest version near the bottom of post #1
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2191223
Or visit there official website http://vipersaudio.com/blog/?page_id=48
Extract the file for 4.xx / open file / install apk.
Open the app and you will be prompted to install the driver. Choose high quality then it will install the driver and prompt you to reboot once completed. That's it! Once installed, you can then check for updated versions in the settings menu which is a nice feature.
To Start:
You will probably want the FX Compatible Mode set to Compatible since most music players EQ will not work together with the mod (settings / FX Compatible Mode / Compatible).
The stock music player is not compatible so you'll need to find one you like that is. I use power amp, but there is a setting you must enable for it to work. settings / audio / advanced tweaks / direct volume control and musicfx checked. Once this is done, return to the EQ settings and go to Tone/Vol tab. Make sure MusicFX is lit up. Sometimes the player will fug up and disable this while you're listening but still lit up. Just push it off then back on.
In Viper, there are three levels of settings. Go into settings / UI Setting and you'll see beginner, moderate, and expert. Each open a little more options in the main settings that will let you tweak the hell out of this thing. Most of what I tweak is only available in expert.
My Settings:
Ok, Let me start by saying that I listen to heavy metal so my overall experience may be different from yours unless you're a bad ass like me
Also, I pretty much use this in my car so my settings will likely sound different on what you've got. I have a 10'' sub with just 300 watts and factory door speakers. My power amp eq is only moved one notch up starting at 250 then two notches at 4k and 8k and the tone and limit buttons are off. When using the same settings, Country music and other stuff (Alice in Chains, Aaron Lewis, Stained etc.) sounds great too. To test the limit of your system and start with a good base, play some high quality classical music while tuning your settings.
For my car, I have the headset tweaked WITHOUT certain modes on to reduce constant 'waves' in the music.
- Playback Gain Controll, Field Surround, Differential Surround, Headphone Surround+, and Reverberation are all disabled.
- FIREquilizer is set at "Rock" then tweaked to reduce the low and high, and add a little mids.
- Impulse Response Samples (irs). I enable the convolver from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2439254. READ UP on this because it's difficult for me to explain. I just started using this one so I'm playing around with the different impulse resonse mods, but BBE Harmonic Maximizer Preset 2.irs is pretty damn nice. There are directions on how to install the files in that op.
- Dynamic System is enabled on mine. This will be part of where you will need to keep adjusting the settings to your liking. I use "Common Earphone(v2)" and set the dynamic bass at 4%.
- Fidelity Control is another one you will need to tweak. I enable ViPER bass, bass mode subwoofer, bass frequency 100 Hz, ViPER clarity is enabled, natural clarity mode, clarity at 6.0 dB.
The bass, guitars and kick drums come through the speakers without any distortion and the mids / highs are clear as hell without too much treble.
If you use headphones, you will probably need to modify your settings and use some of the surround sound stuff. I save two separate effect profiles though. This also applies to watching movies. You'll wanna play around with the settings and irs mods.

Your comparing stock sound to Viper. No comparison. If you install viper and nothing sounds different then something is wrong. To troubleshoot you can search for viper4androind thread. Or tell me how you installed and will try to help.
For reference so that he knows what you mean by that. Are you saying that Viper has better decoding (ie closer to source) or that it just has a better soft mixer to make things sound better? Ie one of those is better if your BYI DAC and the other is just trying to make the best out of the stock DAC and speakers. Or is it a great app for both of those cases?
It's been a while since I had Viper on one of my phones, I will have to give this a try and report back how it sounds. Thanks for the post!

Actually, he/she is making a very valid point. The audio reproduction on the phone is one of the best on the market and it's no slouch compared to standalone audio equipment.
http://www.gsmarena.com/moto_x_style_pure_edition-review-1308p6.php#aq
To take audio and run it thru a bunch of software filters is just going to degrade the quality. Period. You think it sounds better because you're accustom to crappy sounding sound. The only real way to make it sound better is to get some decent headphones and maybe a headphone amp if the headphones have a high impedance.

After thinking about it. Your right. This phone has best sound of any phone or tab I've had. Og droid, HTC rezound, galaxy nexus, Sam g4, LG g2, nexus 7 2013. Also have a g4 which is loud but sounds like crap when pushed. Always used Viper to mask the poor sound quality or volume. But on the other hand your saying as popular as viper is, where just listening to crap. Then we all have some pretty bad hearing. I think it is different for everyone as we all don't hear the same sounds so tweaking is the only way to reproduce what we are missing. I will try running with no viper on my MXP and see if it appeases me. Thanks for the input though I feel this will always be debated.

I had this problem after a factory reset trying to correct a signal issue. I installed as I have outlines and nothing. So I restored the backup I had with viper running. Didn't want to spend to much time fixing it cause we should have roms relatively soon. Wish I new what else to say. Viper is the easiest to install on a mostly stock Google experience. One thing I can suggest is to turn of amp eq in MXP music player.
