Galaxy 3 stock Deodexed ROM required - Galaxy 3 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi there guys. I wanted to start building my own froyo based rom from scratch. I found a good guide for it too but i require a stock deodexed rom for it. I searched dharams rom collection and a number of sites as well but all of them have dead or broken links. So please can anyone help me out finding the stock deodexed rom or help me with a deodexing tutorial. I am new to all this and know only basic layman programming. Thanks in advance and thanks to all of those who have kept our device still alive by developing roms for it.

You shouldn't post this in the development section. Anyway, search for how to deodex a ROM and do it yourself since you're the one making the ROM.

use this to deodex..

If you want to start out modifying shipped ROMs or someone else's custom ROM, you can use my Android kitchen (see link in my signature). You can also use it to modify AOSP ROMs.
Thanks

take it easy, u might hurt ur self
ok its not quite in the right place, but no need to bite his head off.
anyway, in answer to your question, the way i removed the branding from my vodafone DS was this
http://revolutionary.io/ download this tool and follow its instructions, this will root your phone and give you a recovery tool that will allow you to flash a new ROM onto your phone.
With the phone rooted, you will be able to back up your data using an app from the market. Titanium Backup is the usual favorite.
EDIT : may be wrong about it providing root, I personally skipped the backup step as I had no data to lose, but if that is the case there are guides in the forums for obtaining root access
next look through this forum to find a ROM that suits your needs, from the sound of things you want the stock one, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1230029 should suit you.
download the zip file and transfer it to your SD card.
next you need to reboot into your recovery mode by turning the phone off, then hold the vol down button and power button together and selecting recovery from the menu
finally use the volume buttons to select install zip from SD card, and point it at your downloaded rom. it may take a few mins so allow it to finish then select reboot phone.
again this first boot may take a little time, but once its up you should have a debranded ROM as if you had just bought the phone new.
Add the details for your google account and redownload your backup app so you can restore your data and you are good to go
thank you very much for your help,
I shall give it a try,
by the way, will be able to install official updates on it, or will I have to stick with custom ROMs for ever?
thanks again

Nooo, not forever. Just until you get a new device
But seriously: Custom roms don't work with official updates. The trick is that most of the custom rom developers provide their own flashable updates for their roms. The difference is in the way you perform the update. There are even fairly developed custom roms, like MIUI, which have their own over-the-air updates (actually more often than official updates are coming.)
EDIT: In fact, you can switch back to a stock rom anytime and get the official updates back.

lol, possibly....hello,
although a lot of effort had been put into creating a lot of resources which are very user friendly, so it's quiet frustrating when they aren't even looked at.
Plus development is for just that, which is why the moderator moved the thread.

Once unlocked, i.e. rooted, you can use titanium backup or a root file explorer to uninstall the apps you don't need from the rom you are running atm.

Well, again: read around the forum a little, please. There is a sticky thread right on the top of the development section, called ROMS/RECOVERY/ROOT etc. It's a must read for newcomers. Very useful thread. There you find a link to a collection of stock roms. These are distributed as .exe files, so you can run them in windows and a simple-to-use installer will pop up and help you with pushing the stock rom to your phone. It is advisable that you double check that you are flashing the rom you really want. Someone here will help you to choose the right one.
EDIT: By the way in the general section (where we are now with this thread) there is also a very useful sticky. It's called Guide for Newcomers to Android. Seriously, it's a good read, given that you own an Android phone...

OK man, I will do that, thanks for the tips
Thanks chris5s, Ill definitely give it a shot.
This tool would help to get rid of the annoying Orange splash screen, and other useless apps could be removed as stated before.
Of course, best way is to install generic HTC European rom or custom rom of your choice.
Aforementioned tool would also help install roms, radios, etc, of your choice.
Good luck
Peace
Edit: sorry, Android flasher won't help install roms, but will help with installing custom recovery - Ext4 or Clockwork Mod - essential in s-off/rooted flashing.

This belongs in Q&A not general, for future reference. I have reported this to the MODS, so they can move it.
if you're planning to flash jellybean then you need the boostrap from this post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=19355021 , with that installed, go to dev section of the forum and d/l a custom rom and flash following steps in the op , remember always to make a backup of your current rom
sent from the gray stuff inside my skull
There are only two roms based on JB. And both have a guide to install.
Any links for some good n stable roms are appriciated.. Kindly help

So, you're not "lazy", just apprehensive. There's nothing wrong with that. However, what we do here on xda isn't to spend time explaining all the pros vs/ cons to all ROMs available, nor is it anyone's assertion as to what the "best" ROM may be -as this is all very subjective to the individual. There's a hefty ROM list of threads in the development section, so it's your responsibility to read over each one (that may strike you as interesting) and make your own assessment to which you may choose.
Also, each ROM thread by our dev team has explicitly detailed installation instructions, so there should be no reason as to why you would run into trouble -so long as you read, re-read, and fully understand what you're getting yourself into.
Also, there's a handy little help thread that I started for any and all questions, problems, etc. So, if you happen to run into anything, feel free to post there. Myself and a few others maintain that thread, so you should expect an answer without the need of posting a new thread each time you have a problem.

[Q] modifying other roms

My question is about modifying roms that people upload here on xda. so i start to learn a bit more about this on how to make rom, modify and so on.i really have a wish to upload my own rom and share to all people.but i still dont know much about that ofc,i need to learn a lot.i do know now how to modify rom which is simple ofc.but first i wanna stay at modifying and 1 day i hope i will post my rom.all roms here on xda can be downloaded for free and i must say big thanks to developers. so,if i download a rom,can i upload back to xda with my modifications? do i need any permissions before i post moded rom?

Well, it would be better if you ask the developer of the original rom first.
