I'm using the Seidio Innocase Surface case/holster combo. Nice tactile feel on the case, and the secure spring-clip holster does really well, especially with my clumsy arse...

Definition of the "best" case would be different for every person because it depends on personal preferences, how you use your phone, and how you carry it. Personally, I like the feeling of a naked phone and with my Touch Pro 2 I mostly used Forte leather case (although I tried Seidio Surface for a short period). The advantage of a leather pouch is that you don't have any permanent thickness added to your phone, but disadvantages are that you need to take the phone out of the case to see the screen and you can still drop the phone while out of the case - which is exactly what happened to me a few times. Now when I got Epic, it is thinner then TP2 so I wanted to get a snap-on case for it. Here is my mini-review of a few cases I tried:
1) Seidio Active - it is the case that (among other snap on cases) would definitely provide the best protection if the phone is dropped, it looks good, and made well. The soft gel provides a nice cushion and the plastic skeleton strategically positions hard coverage over areas that could be most impacted during the fall. It seems that the recently found Fishbone case on Amazon is very similar in the design so I would expect it to provide the same protection. Unfortunately, Seidio Active was a bit too thick to my liking and since I usualy take good care of my phones, I didn't feel that the extra protection would justify the added thickness for my needs.
2) Seidio Surface - this is probably the thinnest snap on case you can get. I really like the fact that it adds very little to the overall size of the phone and I thought that it would be the perfect case for me when I bought it and put it on. However, maybe the fact that it is so thin contributed to the fact that it feels a bit flimsy when on the phone. There is a tiny bit of play on both the top and bottom parts (when you squeeze them with your fingers on the sides) and sometimes when you push power button the phone tends to slide open a bit based on how I hold it in my hand. The case seems to fit like a glove but it is not as tight as I would like it to be and it is VERY easy to remove the top part with almost no effort whatsoever. Some may consider it a plus, but I consider it a minus because I am pretty sure that if the phone is dropped, the top part will most likely fall off after the first bump leaving the top unprotected (this actually did happen when I used Seidio Surface case on my Touch Pro 2 and dropped from about 3 feet onto hardwood floor).
3) Sprint Case with rubber back - to me this turned out to be the "best" case, at least for now. In terms of added thickness it is somewhere in between Seidio Active and Surface cases. It fits very snug and tight. I like the rubber backing a lot, it is not slippery, feels very nice in hand, and looks good (at least in black). Some people mentioned that the rubber has a tendency to peel off - I've had this case for a month now and it looks like new and I have no peeling issues; but even if I do, I am sure that a carefully placed drop of crazy glue will take care of this issue permanently. I have removed the case several times and I don't see any scratches left on the phone as was posted in one thread. The only drawback may be that the case is a bit harder to remove then Seidio, but to me it is not an issue and means that it will stay on during the fall. I rarely remove the top part, but I am a heavy phone user so I swap extra battery often and don't have any issues removing the bottom part after getting used to it. There were some reports of snaps breaking off - I have not experience that at all and I hope I won't since this is a perfect case for me at this point.
In terms of price - all three cases are around $20 bucks so price is not a factor. All three cases do not interfere with the sliding mechanism and make the phone feel a bit tighter with less screen play and no more squeaking from the battery door. I also tried one of those invisible shield things which is basically a screen protector over the entire phone. Two issues I found with those: a) no matter what brand you get, they will eventually start peeling and will attract dirt on the edges looking like crap after a while; b) although they provide scratch protection, they won't do much if the phone is dropped.
Hope you'll find your best case.

I wonder if this has to do with how different people remove/put it on. I usualy pick the two corner clips on the charger side with my nail and it removes pretty easily after that (just slide it off). When I put it back I do it in reverse order - I slide the bottom two clips on first and then snap the top ones on. So far it's been working well for me.
I'm using a black Seidio Innocase (regular not active) with the spring clip holster and I love it. I originally had the body glove case and it was just too big.. felt like I was carrying a brick in my pocket. The Innocase doesn't add much bulk and gives a bit of protection from random bumps and scratches. Has a pleasant lip around the screen too so laying the epic flat on its face keeps the screen from contacting a surface.

My experience with case durability is completely different from gorby911's, so it's all YMMV. My Sprint case completely fell apart in 1.5 months of use, what with the clips breaking off, and 2 corners of the rubber backing peeling away. Even after Gorilla-gluing one of the corners, it peeled off again within a week! Just got a Seidio Surface and it fits very snugly and no play.
The downside of the Surface is that its rubberized texture is actually quite slippery, vs. the grippy texture on the Sprint case (especially with its rubber backing). It slightly twists and slips around in my hand that supports it while I'm swiping around with my other hand. But it's got a much thinner profile with what I feel appears to be the same amount of protection.
I hope it lasts more than 1.5 months long.
So the sedio active is the slimmest case? May have to check that out, thanks for the info.

Seidio innocase should be the thinnest.
I've been using the BodyGlove that has a the smoked chrome. Stylish and strong. Dropped it a few times and everything's still fine. Sprint Direct/Indirect stores have them available.

I have both the Innocase Surface and the black Sprint case and I too have had no problems with my Sprint case - I take off the back of the case exactly as you have described. Not a single scratch on my phone yet (knock on wood). I prefer the Sprint case over the Innocase as it seems to offer better protection.
For those who are curious, the black Sprint case fits in the Seidio Innocase Holster (the one designed for the Innocase Surface at least). I bought the $40 Innocase/holster combo at Best Buy, but am using the holster with my Sprint case.
I'm using this one. Got it off fleabay for $8.99. Really nice OEM leather case that fits great. I can't stand a phone in my pocket so I have mine on my belt.
Out of the four cases I have tried for the Charge I think I finally found my favorite. The Trident Aegis has some problems as did all the cases I tried but it is the best. It comes in 5 colors and they look great. I got the blue one and it looks as good in person as it does on the site.
The materials used are very nice and the surface has a great anti-skid finish that provides great in hand grip. The hard plastic outer shell covers all 4 sides of the phone for a tight fit. It is thicker then the Otterbox Commuter at the phones curve at the bottom but I actually like that. It gives the phone a great feel when using it in landscape mode. Even though it is a bit bulky it does fit in pockets easily. The corners of the case are heavily padded for drop protection.
All of the ports are covered to prevent dust, moisture or any other unwanted substance getting into them. I found that the usb port was hard to open at times (I have no finger nails) and that the hdmi cover opens a little to easily. The power button and volume rocker are covered as well and easily accessible. One of the things I really like is the dust filter on the speaker opening. The speaker is loud and clear and will not be getting dust in it. The lip that goes around the screen is not as big as the Otterbox but provides just as good of protection.
The protection this case offers is great. Its not as heavy duty as the Otterbox Defender or the Trident Kracken II but it is good enough for every day use. It comes with a screen protector that I did not use. I would recommend this case without a doubt. While its not perfect its does correct the things that I did not like about the Otterbox Commuter and provides just as good of protection. If I can get access to a camera at some point I will post some pictures to go along with the review.

The Kraken 2 looks pretty beast to be sure but I'm not sure if it's not just too think... Hows the thickness of it compared to the otterbox defender?

The top and the bottom edges of the Otterbox are not covered by the hard plastic so it is kind of loose. The buttons are also covered which I don't like and the hard plastic is kind of slippery.

I don't like how the top of the silicon portion isn't supported by the hard case, so it easily separates from the phone if you lift the phone by that area.
I also find that, while it's nice to slip in and out of your pocket, the hard case is too slippery for my tastes. It slides off of sloped surfaces and I've almost dropped the phone a few times now.
Personally, I like having the hard buttons covered, but the silicon that covers the buttons doesn't seem to fit tight against the screen, so debris can work its way underneath.
I never use the HDMI port, so not having it protected by silicon makes no sense to me.
Don't let my dislikes make it seem like it's a bad case, it's not, but I think the Aegis will fit me better. The Aegis should arrive tomorrow, so we shall see.
I'm thinking of making a short video to show the differences between the cases. I'll let you know when it's up.

Have either of you had the Incipio case before your trident case? I'm wondering how they compare. I'm surprised to see the trident case so slim since I always incorporate trident cases to be monsters.
I had the Incipio double cover and the Feather and both were sent back. The double cover was alright until I noticed it covered the hdmi port. It did seem thin and less bulky. The Aegis is the most bulky of the 3 but in a good way I would say. Its slightly thicker at the bottom. I would say I liked the Double Cover more then the Otterbox but I used it for like 5 minutes. The Feather was complete garbage. Its a shame because I really liked the Feather when I had my Atrix.

Does verizon sell the Incipio case for the Charge? If so, how much do they ask for it? I really like the looks of the Incipio case and I am just trying to figure out if a covered HDMI port is worth it. I get 25% off accessories at Verizon so if the price is reasonable I wouldn't mind picking one up to try it out.

My dust cover for the hdmi port ripped off yesterday. I went to go use it and while pulling the tab off of the phone it just ripped right off. That tab is really flimsy and I used very little force around it.

Yikes... Yeah, that's a definite weak spot. I was thinking that, if I go back to my Aegis, I would just remove that cover.
Is it easy to take in and out of the case? I bought the media dock and the car dock, which leaves no room for a case. So I've been using the zagg shield that covers the entire phone. Problem is with the car dock, the sides have been tearing off due to putting the phone in and out of the dock. It's pretty useless, so I want a real case, but I don't want to buy a new car or media dock for it.
Does the Aegis come off and on pretty easily?

IMHO no. The hard outer shell is designed to be a reeeeally tight fit around the soft inside cover. As a current owner I wouldn't want to constantly take it off and put it back on for a car dock. Plus I think it would eventually wear on the buttons and dust covers.

Wanting to see if anyone is rocking this pouch and what their thoughts were on it? I'm really digging the S-View Feature, but not sure if i should pull the trigger on the OEM S-View Flip Coveror this Spigen Pouch.

Yes, I have this case. Here's my opinion of it...
It' thicker than you think. This is not a slim, soft case, it's rigid and adds a bit of heft to the device. On the plus side, being rigid means it will provide some drop protection.
The view function works well and there is a little patch on the front of the case that corresponds to the Home button underneath. This is good for waking up the view screen.
You can easily take a call with the case on. This is a real plus.
Getting the phone out of the case requires a 'Vulcan nerve pinch', claw-like grip, as it fits in tightly. This may free up as it wears in. I don't think you'll get the handset in with any extra bulk on (if you got it in, you'd probably never get it out!).
I prefer it to the S-View flip case (which is slimmer) as, to me, the flap gets in the way too much.
Overall, I am in two minds about the case. For now I'll stick with it. If someone does a slim, soft leather case (like a Sena UltraSlim) with View window/functions I'll be all over it.

I will say this, the case is more useful than the pouch IMO.
My review of the pouch:
Pros:
Feels amazing. Truly high quality
Isn't as thick as some cases. It is a bit thicker than the Neo Hybrid, but with that said it does offer some protection
S view is nice, but not as useful as say hover over or UCWW lockscreen
Cons:
This is not like some of the other pouches that had the little pull tab. Getting the S4 out of this tends to turn the ringer back on, or cause for fumbling on getting it out of the device.
As tight as the pouch is to the device, I've noticed that sometimes pocket lint /grit has gotten into the pocket once. This deals with me not cleaning my pockets perfectly, but in the real world my pockets will have lint from time to time.
The Home button is depressed on the outside of the leather, but is a 50/50 hit on the device. In otherwords, sometimes I pull the case out of my pocket or backpack and it will be showing the Sview on, other times I will have it on my desk and have to push the button a few times before Sview kicks in. This isn't the device, but the case itself. Now I may be pushing the device too far down or not far enough for the depression to line up perfectly, but the pouch seems to cover the buttons/not cover the buttons to my liking.
With this said, if I didn't have the Neo, I would use this pouch over putting a skin or one of the other cases on. I still prefer the pouch over the Sview cover that Samsung released, but the Neo worked better for my use than the pouch did.
I have just order this case in black and the red spigen hybrid case will use both when bored of one will use the other.

Appreciate the insight. I was wondering about whether or not the crumena view had the pull tab like the other crumenas. Hmmmm, decisions decisions.
Yeah, I thought it would have had it too. If it did I would be much happier with it. The pull tab would have balanced out the Home button issue for me.

probably a long shot but...could the Neo Hybrid fit in the Crumena View ?
Sorry for the late reply. No. The view is pretty tight and trying to stretch it out will only ruin the case and probably not match what you are looking for
I have since moved onto Spigen's slim armor view. It is probably the best case I've ever had.

I bought the Neo Hybrid about a week ago.It has enough protection and the best grip compared to dozens of cases i tried. just hoped i could combine it with a "view" style pouch.

I've had a few cases so far. Ringke Flex and the Spigen Neo Hybrid.
I had the Spigen the longest, for maybe a month. It looks great, but the square design gets to be very uncomfortable and hard to reach areas of the phone while in use. The buttons are incredibly responsive. Which is a plus for casual use, not a plus when you don't want them to be as responsive, either in pocket or using as a camera. The Ringke Flex I had for a week. The case is a very nice fit, but the buttons are almost rock hard to push, the back is slippery due to an odd design, and the case still adds an extended bulk which is kind of strange.
My prior phone was a Galaxy Nexus, and had a Diztronic case after following up on great Amazon reviews. For whatever reason, I thought I would get something more visually appealing and fancy for this device.

In the end, I just went back to where I started. The buttons are also the most tactile and responsive I've seen on the cases to date. Anyone looking for something minimalistic, but has some protection which is not over the top, you can do far worse then spending $10 on this case. Cannot recommend enough.

Technically, it does not fit the OEM wireless cover. However, I used a heat gun to stretch mine out, and the fit is OK, though not perfect. You can still see a little bit of the silver on the sides of the phone. The volume and power buttons work fine. I've been using the case now for over a week and there are no functionality issues.
Not familiar with the other backing myself. Like the other poster mentioned, it's a nice tight fit, so some finagling may be required to get it to work.

I agree. I had the Diztronic on my Nexus and the S5 case is even nicer. If you want something that will give a measure of protection without putting your phone in a hermetically sealed pickle jar, Diztronic is the answer.
Thanks guys! I don't come on XDA as often as I used to, but I was browsing the accessory thread this morning to do some research as to the demand of a case that will work with the wireless charging door. Nice start to my morning to find this thread!
It sounds like quite a few people want a case that will work with the official samsung charging door and their S5. I didn't make it before as my thinking was can't they just put a Qi receiver pad under their stock door and use any case they want? I guess the problem with that is it won't seal tight enough to keep water out. So a case that fits the wireless door is needed.
I'll think it over today. But I think there is a good chance well make a new case specifically for the wireless charging door. I'll post an update on our website if we do.
I would buy one. Already own diztronic case for s5 and s2. I think many of us would prefer a matte front (same finish as the back). The shiny black plastic all consumer electronic manufacturers are using looks cheap with reflections, scratches, and fingerprints.
Samsung should have included wireless charging in the s5 along with a magnetic charging port like the Nexus 10 pogo, and front speakers. Instead we have a worthless heart rate sensor.
We could try a matte front, I just don't think it looks as nice against the glossy screen. In my opinion the glossy lip blends better next to the display, almost like you don't even have a case on. Unlike our competitors that have recently started offering similar style cases as ours, only our front lip is glossy. Their cases the entire top half is glossy, similar to our old S2 case.
The S5 wireless charging door case could be a good model to test full matte on though.

you could always get this it wirelessly charges through the case just fine using it on my S5 with the neo hybrid case just fine. as for keeping the water protection it seems to work just fine put my phone in the fishtank for 25 mins with no issues to test it.

That's not a TPU case. It contains TPU on the inside, buts it's a dual layer two piece case with a polycarbonate shell. it's basically exactly the same as our Reactor case for the GS5. It's a fine case, but personally I don't like dual layer cases on my phone. Too bulky. According to that page you linked it weighs 5 ounces! That's a tank compared to a 21g TPU case. It's a totally different class of product then a traditional single layer TPU case. It also does appear to "borrow" heavily from UAGs design. I really hate it when companies do that, but it is what it is, happens in every industry.

I prefer to think of it as the screen protectors not being compatible with cases I think it's far more common for someone to only have a case than to only have a screen protector. The vast majority of people using screen protectors will also use a case. However many use a case but no screen protector. Given that, companies that make screen protectors should do a better job making sure their products can be used with a case.
To answer your question (somewhat) , I used a tempered glass SP on my old S4 and one of our cases. It was a bit of a stretch, but after a day or two it fit well enough. I haven't tested it on an S5 however. We are going to start adding a small amount of depth to our cases in the future, likely 0.25mm to better accommodate thick screen protectors. We have to be careful that the case still fits well for those that don't use screen protectors. The new OnePlus One is the first case well be testing this on.

Hello Everyone,
New Note 4 user here, (yeah sounds strange upgrading from the note 3 finally, but samsungs gone full potato) and like any other purchase, the hunt for cases is on. I have scoured the internet/ebay/threads for possible solutions to my dilemma and haven't found anything, so I figure its a good time to ask. With my N3 I had the Seidio Dilex Extended battery case with the belt clip holster. This was an amazing combo and accounted for 99% of my needs, minus the stupid negative incline when the phone was flat on its back, due to the kickstand bulge.
Anyways, I am having a hell of a hard time finding extended battery cases that have a kickstand, or have the plastic belt clip holsters for that matter. Essentially it looks like its the Zerolemon and thats it for holster combos, or if I want an integrated kickstand, its the mugen, for outrageous pricing.
I had originally hoped that I'd be able to reuse the same case and such from my n3 with some modifications, since these two phones are very close in size. Well that got quickly abandoned, but there was still the possibility of using the seidio case and cover/holster since they appeared to be the same dimensions. Wrong again.
The sides of the case have much steeper angle coming out from the phone on the bottom and top, but could possibly be adjusted depending on how or if I can rework the holster.

I have found a temporary starting point to try and reclaim some of the utility I had with my N3 with a few random pieces from amazon.
Anker has been out of stock for a while, unless you want to pay scalper prices on ebay, so I figured I'd give Kranich a whirl for the $25 they asked for 6400mah battery and the plastic textured back panel.

My plan should it go well, is to try and either cut a loop in the tpu case and secure the kickstand to the plastic backing itself, or to the tpu on the outside if thats not possible. Either way, ill make sure to correct the confusing mistake seidio made by putting the kickstand on the bottom of the phone and having it lay with the bottom of the phone slightly elevated instead of flat.
This should get me back to at least the core level of performance that the seidio case I had before offered, with a little less protection I think.
The last problem however, is the belt holster (or whatever you want to call it). Again, not many options, so I am looking at modifying my existing seidio holster to fit my N4 or possibly getting an otterbox holster and trying to work with that. You know, interestingly enough, I figured Alibaba would be swarming with weird stuff like that, and I really didn't see anything different
If anyone has any bright ideas, I'd love to hear it. Or for that matter any other cool suggestions for gear.

TPU case came in, god this stuff still sucks, and spigen kcikstand as well. After slipping my note 4 into something more sensual, I decided it was time to try out the holster, which I prayed to the case gods would still fit, and i-it d-d-does! Success! It does in deed definitely fit securely in the mount, albeit a it rides a little higher in the clip due to being ever so slightly longer that the note 3 with the seidio case (works for me still).

Damnit, point and shoots are picky when shoplights are involved.
Now that the first test was an overwhelming success, I decided it was time to make some cuts and drop the kickstand in, maybe risk some fingers or violate some safety rules. I decided to cut my way through the TPU case (while half listening to a linus tech tips webisode) and attach the kickstand directly to the phone case for more stability and a slightly smoother surface and a little more professional look. Results below:
First was to figure out where to put the case, I noticed that the first set of honeycombs was almost a perfect border for the ends of the kickstand and those served as an excellent guide for my first cuts.
To achieve a straight cut, i used a square razor blade and tapped it down through the tpu into an old notepad. this have a nice clean straight edge, id soon have to murder since it was nowhere near wide enough for accommodate the whole kickstand. A halfway picture would have been nice, but I was eager to finish.
If you do decide to copy this, make sure you cut the material, almost too tight for the kickstand, so it fits snugly, instead of stretching and leaving a gap like mine did. I would have liked to have rounded my edges a little better, but oh well, its not like I bought the phone to look at the back.
In any case(oh god not the puns), I think it worked out pretty well, but I think I'm gonna try and find a few more TPU cases, maybe that are a little spongier since this hardly gives any protection for drops. An added benefit is the lip of the kickstand in this spot serves as a nice rest for your fingers while using the phone.

Switched from Hyperion 8000mah with honeycomb tpu, now using Verus Iron Shield with Spigen kickstand add on and purchased 3 extra batteries with external charger for $23 US from Amazon. I have leather holster, but front pocket works just fine.

That looks and sounds amazing, and reminds me of some of the drops my note 3 has taken and survived. This is what I really, really wanted to reproduce with my note 4, because, well it makes sense. Only problem is, I really want an extended battery since charging is much slower than my n3, and I don't want to rely on batteries.

It looks goregeous, but I'm a little concerned about dampening shock, TPU doesn't seem to be the best at it..
