[Q] More than less new to root - Xoom Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

OK so I have a Motorola xoom WiFi version with clockwork mod recovery and android 4.2.2 called my,wingray or something I got it from some other thread of xda but I have a couple of questions because I have tried to flash other ROMs and non of them will work so I need to know if I want to change things from what I have now what will work. So in the end I would like to have twrp, team eos with android 4.1.2 island I have tryed doing this over and over again and the best I have gotten is the eos logo to flash and stay like that and then I tryed CM and it did the same thing so I guess I need a link or something for this and do I normally have to flash 1 or 2 zip files to change the rom .

had it for 5 hours and already bricked

i just got my inspire a couple hours ago and i was trying to flash a CM kernel using kernel manager and it froze right after it finished and was completely unresponsive so i did a battery pull and now it's stuck on the white htc screen
please help
Power up with vol down....orange light comes on power up wit vol up sends me to CM.
i did that and tried to reboot from there and it still didnt work but right now im trying to update from the p???????? left by the simple root method
search before you post please. Please take a look at the guide that is stickied, there is a guide and even a video..
this isn't about flashing anything it's about something with a kernel that i messed up but it's working now
hmmm interesting enough, though you are wrong! How exactaly do you think you get the kernel on the phone?
And since I wrote the guide and made the video, I assure you it is on there.
actually i used kernel manager to do this so i did it on my own buy i do like your guide and i'm sorry for any problems
It uses the same process as rom manager and, flashes the kernel via cwm. What causes the soft brick is an incorrect flash . Its the same process for any incorrect flash whether it is a rom or kernel.
Just be sure to try everything. I'm sure you'll find a solution.
When you use the simple root, in order to flash a custom rom you have to root then go back to the downgraded version without sound and flash a rom from there. So now to fix it just flash stock rom and start over but when u get to the downgraded version just flash instead
If you're trying to flash an Android 2.3 rom, you have to have CWM 3.0+, and if you're trying to flash an Android 2.2 rom, you have to have one of the 2.5 versions.
I had the same problem as I was trying to flash the wrong file (an Android 2.2 rom) as I had updated CWM to 3.0.0.6 at the time. I finally realized I was choosing the wrong file the entire time, and then I was able to flash the Android 2.3 rom with no problems.

[Q] used viper modon ic

After getting ics on my stock tf101 I used viper mod 4.5 option 1 and it workedfine.being a noob I tried to use Rom manager clicked on flash clockwork recovery it recognized my tf101 ..then it said not supported then it asked if it was manually installed using 2x or 3x.don't know what it means but tried both versions trying to reboot into recovery to flash a new ROM didn't work on either version.is there a way to flash?or do I have to unroot. Viper mod which kept ics stock but rooted.(from my understanding) or is there a new ROM manager for ics ? Am familiar with Rom manager flashing my bolt several times.or should I just do option 2 unroot and forget flashing.or downgrade to honeycomb and install Rom manager there?

w/o sounding like a 8===) look in the Apps section, there is a .apk that you can download and use to flash the recovery image. Clockwork ROM manager isn't really needed for this device, in fact i don't have the app installed on any of my rooted devices.

Actually last I heard Koush pulled the RM for the TF as too many peoples had problems. Like neidlinger stated, you don't need ROM manager. I got rid of mine even for phone long ago. Everything can be done in CWM recovery itself

[Q] Nexus s can not start

Well yesterday i have rooted my nexus s and i have the kernel Air_Kernel_Stable_r1_JBN_BlueColor on jelly Bean 4.1.2 (OTA).Today i tried to put a rom but after downloading a rom my nexus can not start. It goes only in fastboot MODE.If i try ti start it,it stands a black screen after loading the GOOGLE (symbol).Sorry for my english. Can anyone help me?
well... you need to try someother rom.. again. something not working right,
like yesterday I tried to put Baked_blackbean-5 on my crespo (9020a) and it didnt work
then I tried Slim 2.7 but I think I like CM10 nightly more.
Can you send me a rom to put on my nexus? i have not CWM..!
for ROM you asked download CM10 from this ... Download: cm-10-20121020-NIGHTLY-crespo.zip
md5sum: 9bbbfdf49af6624fdc3ee983ca58e1e0 http://get.cm/get/4mC
To put CM10 you need CMW Recovery. you cannot do it with stock recovery.
so ... put your phone into fastboot, and using the guide put ClockworkMod Recovery image
If you dont have CWM then what you have? Stock Recovery? or anyother?
How were you flashing that ROM yesterday?
Regards

[Q] cyanogenmod bootloop

i installed cm 11 unofficial from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2608377 but when i turn my moto g on it gets stuck in the cyanogenmod loading screen if anyone can help it will be great
You didn't want to post your issue in that thread?
I'm having same problem.. Also same problem for bam ROM

managed to get out of the CM11 bootloop after applied Fix Permissions (or something similar) in TW's Custom Recovery.
Seems that only TW recovery can fix this through a permissions fix.
Got the same problem last night and the only thing to do to get it works was to re-flash the stock firmware, flash the recovery and reinstall the CM build. Latest build seems to be pretty good.
Simply wiping the cache before and after flash worked for me.

Not for me, sadly.
I've also tried to re-flash the rom through the recovery but the only fix that worked for me was to flash the stock firmware and then install the CM via recovery.
Same here, had difficulties getting Cyanogen to boot.
What I did is :
- roll back to stock 4.3 : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2546251 (yes, you can roll back, read the end of the post)
- allow OTA update to 4.4.2
- install CWM
- in CWM : format /system, /data and /cache, install cyanogen from ZIP, wipe dalvik cache
Mysteriously it worked like a charm after many unsuccessful tries and a softbrick ^^
Btw, no need to root the stock ROM to install CWM or a custom ROM, just skip this step
Do you have the XT1032 version?

I´m tired of the mess made it because of the three different Moto G versions, i'm waiting for official Recovery from CWM, maybe 3 months it's to early but I wanna try this method. (I hope to don´t hardbrick haha)
I was having the same problem with every rom i tried. After going back complete stock with Alonsoch's tool in the original Dev thread, I was then able to get past the boot on any rom

(Dont want to downgread).. Any solution?
I am newbee and want to take part in rom devlopment as tester. Sorry if i asked somethin silly or may be twice.

[Q] CWM Recovery 11 Infuse 4G SGH-I997

i am currently using Beanstalk 4.4 rom on my infuse 4G running CWM-based Recovery v6.0.4.5.
i would like to run CWM 11 as i see on the rom file for beanstalk but when i installed the rom i was still running 6.0.4.5 instead of CWM 11. i extracted the files from the .zip file but i couldnt find thw CWM recovery .img file to upgrade to CWM 11 only. i dont want to upgrade to a new os, Beanstalk 4.4 works great for me but i still want to upgrade just the CWM recovery
Sir,
Please wait until mods will move this thread to the device specific forum for more relevant answers.
Stand by
Good luck
There must be a misunderstanding...
There is no ClockworkMod version 11, in fact, nothing higher than 6.0.x. You must be thinking of Cyanogenmod 11 (also known as CM11), which is a ROM that BeanStalk is based off of.
As for where recover sits in the ROM file, just search the zip for any .img file. Should be called recovery.img, but it may be considered something else entirely.
thanks
thanks I have been searching tirelessly to find a newer recovery due to misinterpretation. This has relieved a huge headache ive been having
