How often will the Rom be updated?
Whenever there are some good merges to source or bug fixes a build will be published. On a longer side it will be a weekly build, but more often than ever you can expect a build sooner than that.
How do I flash it?
You must be on a compliant recovery. To pen down my experience, latest TWRP works best with this roma for me.[/URL]!
If coming from previous Asylum Omni 4.4.2 or official Omni 4.4.2 and you want to do a dirty install:
1. boot into recovery
2. flash the Rom
3. flash the latest SuperSU
4. reboob
If coming from previous Asylum Omni 4.4.2 and you'd like a clean flash:
1. boot into recovery
2. do a full wife
3. flash the Rom
4. flash the latest SuperSU
5. reboob
If coming from anywhere else:
1. copy Gapps, SuperSU and Asylum Omni Zips to your SDCard
3. reboob into Recovery
4. Wipe data and dalvik cache
7. flash Asylum Omni zip
8. flash Gapps zip
9. flash SuperSU
10. reboob
11. Don't restore system stuff or apps + data using Titanium, it might cause issues

About phone > Build number > hit build number 7 times in order to "become a developer"
Since Android 4.2.2, not everybody should become a developer in order to enable #USB #debugging and change the animations to 0.5
» Density changes aka #ChangeDPI
Change the actual 320dpi to e.g. chasmodo's favourite 178dpi:
Use ROM Toolbox Lite/Pro and the built-in build.prop Editor to change the setting in ro.sf.lcd_density=320 to ro.sf.lcd_density=178 {or a dpi setting of your choice}
Do it manually via a capable root file explorer and edit the parameters above to your liking.
No other tool or app to use.
» Status 7 / Installation aborted while coming from PhilZ kernel (Version < 3.99)
*Install/Flash a CM10/CM10.1 kernel from Chasmodo's kernel suppository™ or use at least PhilZ latest version *3.99* or later (4.40 ATM)

Yes, I always use 178 and Widgetsoid, a free app.
What you see on the homescreen are just Widgetsoid's 3 widgets, plus digital clock.
If you want a homescreen like mine, first disable dock in Nova. Then open your widgets drawer and select either 1 * 5 Widgetsoid switcher (vertical widget) or 5 * 1 (horizontal), and swipe it onto your homescreen. Repeat the procedure as many times as you like.
Then start Widgetsoid and edit your widgets. You can choose any toggles imaginable and any app shortcut you like. These below are just your network toggles; you also
have a ton of screen, sound and other toggles, plus 'shortcuts' which you use for your apps.
After that you can theme your widgets to your liking.
Finally, you can save your widgets in 'profiles', so you can restore them in a second after each new Rom flash.
HOW TO ENABLE SOFT KEYS (20130108)
qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 as default in build.prop setting
NavBar is disabled by default in the Rom. This is the easiest way to enable NavBar if you want to:
1. download and install ROM Toolbox Lite(excellent and free multi-tool BTW)
2. start RTL and grant it root access
3. once the app is launched, swipe from right to left to get to the right panel
4. tap on 'build.prop editor'
5. dismiss the warning/information popup
6. scroll down until you locate qemu.hw.mainkeys
7. tap on it and change the value to '0' (zero) manually or via drop-down menu
8. save and RTL will ask you if you want to reboob, accept
9. after the reboob is done, go to Settings/System/Navigation bar and customize it to your liking
When you want to disable NavBar, just launch RTL again, go to build.prop editor and change qemu.hw.mainkeys back to 1.
Advanced reboot options have moved (2013-02-19)
Reboot into recovery missing?
Activate the advanced reboot options in developer options and tick "advanced reboot" in order to get into recovery or bootloader mode.
Otherwise you'll have only the reboot option.
How to enable PIE… (27/03/2013)
0) Enabled Expanded Desktop feature in Power Menu is necessary (system settings > system > power menu > expanded desktop > status bar hidden or visible)
1) Make sure Navigation bar (Soft keys) is activated by changing qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 to qemu.hw.mainkeys=0
2) Reboot needed to change taking effect
3) Enable Pie in System settings > System > PIE controls
4) Check left and/or right side as they work best
5) Enable/Activate Expanded Desktop with power menu
6) Enjoy the pie
7) Disable expanded desktop to "Un-PIE" [/QUOTE]
Experimental use of PIE: check only one side, e.g. left.
Open Pie on the left side, until you can see all information (time, network, battery etc) and then wait until you'll see the other trigger points (top, right and bottom) and drag your pie on another trigger area, for instance on the right side and let it drop when the circle is filled with colour. Then open the pie from the "new side". You can see the change as well in system settings > system > PIE controls. It should state "right" now.
Needs some training but works.

Google Hangouts (replaces talk) in PlayStore (15/05/2013)
If you fancy getting the new HANGOUTS app to replace GTalk,
log into the WEB PlayStore with your browser and search for Hangouts. Hit install and it will automagically update GTalk to Hangouts.
Other solution: uninstall GTalk via Titanium Backup (or similar app), reboot may be needed and install Hangouts via PlayStore App.
Done.

INSTALLATION GUIDE:
Root your phone. If already rooted, proceed to the next step.(How to root or unroot Galaxy Y-click here)
Make sure that you're on Stock kernel. Stock = Factory version ( The kernel that came while buying the phone). If you haven't changed kernel, ignore this warning.
If your'e NOT on Stock kernel, either flash stock kernel, or open the JELLYBLASTV3.signed.zip on your pc, delete boot.img from it, and then flash the zip. In that way, you'll be able to use ANY kernel you already have.However,it is always advisable to start from stock in order to eliminate any possible runtime errors.
Remove a2sd or data2sd and format your 2nd partition if you have it.
Place the above file to your sd card (NOT IN ANY FOLDER!!!)
Switch off your phone.
Go to Clockwork mode. If you don't know what is CWM, click here. This is important, because CWM is necessary, or you won't be able to boot up with the new Kernel. Use the CWM I have given above, for best results.
Use the volume keys to move up and down.
Wipe data and cache and Dalvik cache.
Now choose: Install zip from sd card.
Choose JELLYBLAST V3.signed.zip
Choose "yes"
It will be Installed. Now reboot your phone. First boot will take time. Be patient.
If you have followed EVERYTHING above carefully, you will soon boot up to your new rom.
Please wait until media scanning is completed.

KERNEL DETAILS:
JBV3 uses KURO KERNEL , known best for its extreme battery saving capabilities and stabilities. However, you might want more speed, and might even want to OVERCLOCK your device upto 1.2 GHz.
For that, you can use MERRUK KERNEL 2.5. It is faster, and has overclock support upto 1.2 GHz. However, please also notice that Merruk kernel is still in PRE-Final stage, and hence, it is for Advanced users.
Follow the steps below to install Merruk kernel.

RULES:
Name of the ROM should be JELLYBLAST.
You should PM me before doing this.
You can port this to ANY other device except GALAXY Y, because I've done it!

Please take care that there should not be two JELLYBLAST roms for the same device. If you think you can improve on someone else's work, kindly talk to him via PM, and make a team.

TIPS:
This ROM is readily compatible ( with a few modifications ) on all SAMSUNG brodcom devices, like Galaxy ACE plus, Galaxy Pop Plus, Galaxy Mini 2, Galaxy Ace 2, Galaxy Y pro and DUOS ( but need lots of smali changes).
The kernel included in this ROM is for Galaxy Y only. So, make sure that you have removed or replaced boot.img and bmlunlock from ROM before porting.
Also, change the updater script, so that it only installs the ROM, not the Kernel.
The FM rado in the ROM only works at 120 resolution. So, replace it with the fm radio apk of your device before setting the correct resolution.
Figure out other changes by yourself!

Version 1.0:
Problem 1:
Some users find that the Swype is force closing, and the absence of gallery and music in App drawer.
If you face this problem, here is what you can do:
1. Using root explorer, delete Swype.apk from System/app (or) uninstall swype using link2sd.
2. Try looking for play music and gallery ics apk in system /app. If present MOVE them to SD card using root explorer. Tap rw at the top to move.
3. Reboot.
4. Install the following attached apk's in the post: SwypeICS.apk, and GalleryICS.apk, Google play music. apk or from the apks which you just moved to your SD card. For better performance of play music, again move the apk to System /app...and set permissions to rwrr. (Tick the first two boxes in the first row and the 1st box in the other two rows) and reboot.
5.Enjoy.
Problem 2:
ICS Gallery is not working on my phone.
Solution:Have you done it properly? Try again. I've fixed the link. Still if it doesn't work, I'm afraid you will have to install the old Gingerbread Gallery. Copy and paste gallery3D.apk from attachments into System/app using root explorer, set permissions to rwrr and reboot.
Problem 3:
Status Bar does not appear.
Solution: Re Install the ROM from beginning. It happened because the flashing was not done properly.
Version 2.0:
Problem 1:
Cannot recieve sms, but can send it.
Solution: Install the mms fix.zip given in the downloads section of 2.0..

HOW TO USE CWM:

Now you are in CWM mode. Now, in this mode, install the zip file you want...
Repeat this process every time you want to flash a file in cwm.
HOW TO GO TO STOCK RECOVERY:
Switch off your phone. Now press Power button + Home button + Volume Up button until you see the Galaxy Y logo.
Next, choose update zip from SD card and choose the CWM zip file you have downloaded above and kept in your SD card ( not in any folder).
Choose the GTS5360-cwm.zip.
Now you are in CWM mode.
NANDROID RECOVERY:
The above two CWM's are reported to have failed while restoring nandroid. You can use CWM by MADTEAM for Nandroid.

Long press home button, go to the third tab, and press clear ram. For freeing up internal memory, go to link2sd, press options, then tap more, then tap clean up the dalvik cache!!!! Unbelievable!! Good luck!!

Important information on latest version 11.06.2013::
To update the rom with previous version (09.05/03.06), in recovery enough to do wipe cache and dalvik cache. Everything including wifi should work. If some application isn't working properly, clear the application data in Settings > Applications
Rom for a few minutes after the start may a little slowly work. Wait for all processes to be loaded and then you feel the speed
For improve the working of rom, I recommend to delete file "99seeder" in the system/etc/init.d
You can do this a file manager with root privileges (eg root explorer).
When you delete the file, mandatory make restart phone.
Recommended options:
I will recommend changes clock speed CPU Clk4 at least 1100 and possibly change voltage Vsel1-Vsel3 5-10 less. These changes have practically no effect on the battery and phone noticeably better working.
To use these options, run phone again in Bootmenu > CPU Settings and set an appropriate value (eg as above). Finally, slide down and press Save. Changes will be saved permanently and will not change when you reboot the phone.

i love this rom..but the battery i notice after using for one day..android OS and media server take up too much battery..any solution? overall this rom is really smooth..fast..i really like all the features and fluidity..good job man!!
Maybe restart your phone. I think that after second charge phone battery will function normally. On my phone, battery works just like the other CM10.
Any opinions? Rom has been downloaded more than 220x and silence in the thread
Looks interesting, I've moved on from my Defy but I'll try it out as I'm quite happy using slim bean on my S3 and Nexus 7. Would be nice to breathe some new life into this phone.
Edit: Has this ROM been tested with any of the available custom kernels (i.e JellyX)?
I haven't tested custom kernels. Probably one of the older jellyx will work.
I think that no need for custom kernels because standard rom is fast.

Just flashed this ROM. Wi-Fi reception is a bit weaker than other Quarx ROMs, and can't connect to other access points I'm used to, but lucky for me I have several access points, so not THAT big an issue. Aside from that, loving it so far, already managed to record a 2 minute video with stock camera app without the audio cutting during the recording, so depending on battery life, I'll probably stay on this ROM.
Also, very customizable. Nice work. :good:
Edit: Boot also takes a bit longer than what I'm used to, not a big issue though, just an observation. And sometimes it takes a while for my sim card to register to the network, will see how it behaves during the next few days.
Very nice rom, snappy and interactive. Only problem I'm facing is my text messages don't get delivered. It always fails please let me know if there's a solution?

SMS messages are working fine for me, but I did have this problem on one of the CM10 roms. The only fix was to wipe data/cache from custom recovery. It also might be a problem with your message service center.
Dial *+*+4636+*+*, then go to "Phone information", and scroll down to the "SMSC" and press "Resfresh". It should show a number that corresponds to your carrier. Call your carrier and confirm that that is the correct SMSC number. If it's not, ask them for the correct number, write it down in the box and press update. Not sure if you have to reboot or not, and generally this is not necessary since your phone should find the correct number automatically.
If this doesn't work, I'd wipe data and check again; that's what worked for me anyway (can't find the source right now, sorry), so you never know.

This is a very good rom as far as the layouts are concerned. One main thing I observed is that I am not able to install any applications- during app installation the next button not responding to go forward for installation. Lola any fix for this.

This is for the reason that I changed CM super user by Super SU
directory you can change settings in the super SU and select do not ask
but it is not recommender full rooted thinking back choice settings Super SU on request

How to use Xposed Modules
For use any Xposed Modules (Xblast Tools,etc.), you need follow this steps first:
1- Go to App Drawer and open Xposed Installer.
2- Press button Install/Update.
3- Press OK and reboot phone
4- Open Xposed Installer again and go to MODULES and select Apps (enable or disable apps).
5- Open Xposed Module (Any You have installed) and activate or deactivate options.
6- Reboot and enjoy.
How to use PIE Functionality1- Flash the PIE_keys.zip attached below from recovery
2- Settings -> System -> PIE controls ->enable
3- Settings -> System -> Expanded desktop -> Status bar visible

I must say, with all the tweaks and customizations that seem specific for our hardware, or at least performed with our device in mind, I'm definitely interested in giving this ROM a shot as new DD to replace SilverL's unofficial 4.2.2 I've been using since July.
Did a test install and everything seemed to be working real good. Not a huge fan of the terminal-ly looking font (from sense I guess) but I'm sure that's probably configurable somewhere that I haven't bothered to look yet, or in one of the 2 included super customizers.
I'll post up my thoughts if I do go DD with this but in the meantime, I'd love to hear opinions from anyone else that's installed and used so far. Might be my new fav 4.2.2 rom until a fully usable 4.3 (in my head at least) comes out.
Before switching from emmanuels 4.3 version to this i have to ask:
- is the keyboard popup lag fixed when using the hw keyboard?
- if you will update this anytimes...are you considering implementing halos? (Sorry if i may sound demanding...i am not...just curious )

I'll do a full wipe if and when I get time because this looks interesting to me.

Sorry, camera f/c is extremely weird, but mostly a small issue and can be fixed. But yes I do take feature request, its fine with me, each build of gimmeabreak is to be unique

I am proud to present you with Beanstalk ROM for the HTC Desire. This feature packed ROM is created and maintained by scott.hart.bti, and contains tons of customization from SlimROM and CyanogenMod. This is currently by far the most feature filled KitKat ROM available for the HTC Desire, so if you like customization, this is the one for you.

Instructions
Recommendations/Requirements:
- An hboot with at least 250mb on system. These include stock hboot or @jmcclue's 250/5/182 hboot.
- A 512mb - 1.5gb EXT partition (EXT4 recommended) on your sdcard. Use this guide, and this guide only to create the partition. Partitions made using other tools (CWM, Minitool Partition Wizard, etc.) will likely cause issues.
- The latest TWRP or 4EXT Recovery. Old versions of CWM may cause issues.
- A somewhat decently functioning brain (optional)
Installation Steps:
- Boot into recovery
- Full wipe *
- Flash ROM
- Flash GApps
- Reboot
- Setup m2sd using the instructions below
- Start Play Store to load setup for WiFi, Google account, etc.
* Full wipe includes system, data, cache, dalvik cache, .android_secure and sd-ext
Note: All keyboard languages except English have been removed in order to save space. (There are still many system languages though). If you want to use a language other than English on the keyboard, after completing the setup you can download and install the Google Keyboard which supports many languages.
Install Mounts2SD - Manual method:
- Install Mounts2SD app through the play store
- Open Mounts2SD > Menu > Application Settings > Install Startup Script
- Click the wrench icon in Mounts2SD. Under the Content header: enable Applications, Libraries and Dalvik Cache. It should look like this when you are done.
*Dont be confused by that fact that they seem to already seem to be checked. They are not. You must click on them so that the checkmark become green*
*Grey checkmark = disabled. Green checkmark = enabled*
- Reboot (might take a while)

- Flash this zip
- Reboot (might take a while)
Optimized Settings and Tips:
Settings > Developer options > Enable Force GPU rendering
Settings > Beanstalk options > Beanstalk Init.d scripts > Clear cache
Settings > Beanstalk options > Beanstalk Init.d scripts > Enable speedy modified (This may cause graphical issues. If it is bothering you disable this option)
Settings > Beanstalk options > Beanstalk Init.d scripts > Enable loopy smoothness
Don't make app drawer background transparent (instead it should be opaque for best performance)/
Use Greenify to hibernate memory hungry apps that constantly run in the background.
Flash Fly-On Mod script (Dont flash on RC5 or higher)
Flash optimized dalvik libraries. (Not compatible with RC3 or higher)

Been testing for a day, and I haven't had a single force close.
If you're going to leave this type of negative feedback, please at least post some logs or include more details on what caused your issues.

The problem is that when you start the rom the keyboard is closed and can not be used at any time, when I get in the application drawer closes systemui, so I can not do anything or get into play store. No need for the records.

Everything stable as rock for me, considering that it is an early build. The only thing missing for me is trackball wake. Endless options and customization available. Keep up Chromium_. Tremendous work.

For what it's worth, I was loading the device from the computer and had no drums. Maybe some kind of conflict occurs.

I had to reinstall+clear cache/data the rom 3 times in order for it to work. First time, the keyboard didn't work. After a reinstallation, it worked. However, this time, I experience the setup guide stopped working. Another reinstall without clearing cache/data fixed this. The launcher wasn't installed along with some other apps. I have no logs of this, as they are cleared after reboot. Just wanted to tell my experince.
After all this, it seems like it is working like a charm

That might be the problem, as that recovery is quite old. Use 4ext recovery or my TWRP (in my sig) when flashing in the future.
