Hi guys, I've had the phone for a while but never thought to try it with a hands free kit. So I tried to make a call with my beats solo headphones with the control talk cable. Mic was not responding but I could hear the person on the other side. The phones internal mic was also disabled. I then tried it with a HTC headset, same outcome. Not sure whether the Nexus is just not compatible with a wired hands free kit or its just my device.
Any advice?

Have you tried using the cable on another device or a friends device to test the mic? Did you seat the jack all the way down? There's no definitive click but the jack should be able to go all the way down. I have used the mic with a few wired headsets, Sol Republic Amps HD and my V-Moda M100's. I have used the mic on both without an issue.
Works with both of mine to

I've tried the headsets on a HTC One S and a One X and they seemed to work fine on them!
I also tried them on my father's Nexus too but didn't seem to work with his phone either.
So stupid! I don't know why my Nexus's are having this problem?

so no one can help me?
I just looked at your head phones online. Honestly I think it is where the connections are placed on the head phone jack.
All my wired head sets have three lines on the jack. The beats solo shows only two in the pictures.
This is the only logical thing I can come up with

I cannot say what is best, only my experience with the bt that I purchased 2 months ago.
Blueant T1
It has great volume regardless of source and I am thoroughly happy with it. It is advertised as being rugged and this was confirmed when apparently my cat got a hold of it and played with it until it ended up at the other end of the house. Although it now has teeth marks in the plastic.
I have two H series Motorola Bluetooth ear pieces. They work great, with this phone. Don't work as good as new as they get used by four people.

Get the jawbone. A little expensive but worth it.

before the s4 came out, the sound was all anybody could talk about, now its like the subject has completely died out now that we can actually do something about it since we have our phones.
the sound is good I guess, louder than the s3 that's for sure, but it just doesn't come alive like my s3 does.. granted, I was using Boffla kernel, and Eargasm preset on the hardware equalizer.. but I still want to tune the s4 with what's available now.
has anybody tried tuning, or using alternative sound engines to get better sound from their s4?
DISCUSS ! !

I was blown away by the sound quality if I am honest...

I think the sound is equal to S3, a bit louder, but no omphh still. Coming from HTC and iPhone I really miss the sound. All my Samsung phone has been anti omphh so it's clearly the Samsung way.
Need a kernel to fix that, sadly...

The supplied ones of the htc one are pretty good. In germany you can get them for 20€ with a 3 button remote.

I've got an Avantree Hive Bluetooth headset... It sounds so good it's like having a home stereo on your head. And it works for phone calls, too.

Has anyone used the fiscon, parrot, or other install kits out there? I saw some on bestbuy.com but don't really know what I'm looking at. I am looking to install this on my factory radio in an 07 gti. Anyone have any recommendations?

Been using Parrot I'm work trucks for years, never had any problems on my gs3 our other phones. The Mic could be better, sometimes it's not the easiest for people to hear you, but the Parrot in my truck has a booster in the cradle and have noticed a better signal with it especially in remote areas.
I bought the Gogroove smartmini aux off amazon. Plugs into my auxiliary port. I use it in my mini cooper and it works great. Much cheaper than a parrot.

This is pretty awesome. Is the music quality pretty good? The only part that gets me, is that it will constantly need to be recharged

The sound quality is great. Charging isn't a big deal since it comes with the usb cable and you can charge it while you're using it. I mainly got it cause I kept getting a feedback on my s3 with my aux cable. Figured adding bluetooth would be cool and it is.
