This is the first time I have flashed a ROM. Followed the instructions from the website, but stuck at this point.
Flash Rom with CWM. What is this step? Sorry, but didn't see this for the infuse.

its really that simple, assuming your coming from stock. place the Zip on the root of your SD card
Get into CWM Recovery choose the zip to install
and Flash, that should be all you have to to get this on your phone.

I put it on the SD card. I am at the Samsung Recovery Utils. I am hitting reinstall packages. Is that not the correct one?

Cwm is clock work mod, you get there by holding both volumes keys and power button when rebooting.this is the way you have flashed before right?

i'm sorry, but this is stuff you need to learn on your own before messing with your phone like you are about to do.
the questions you are asking are the most basic questions that you can possibly ask about flashing a ROM - they are not specific to infuse.
any guide you pull off of google regarding flashing ROMs on an android device in CWM will give you the information that you are looking for.
i recommend doing the requisite research, and making sure you know exactly what you are doing, before flashing anything. otherwise, you will brick your phone, and you will make another thread asking how to unbrick the phone.
Yes, a bit of a stupid question. How can I check if I have CWM installed? I'm trying to flash the debloater using Jul's wonderful flashign tutorial. I know my phone is rooted, but I am not sure I have CWM installed, because in the tutorial is says this:
To flash a kernel or modem follow these steps:
Boot into CWM and select the "Wipe cache partition" option, navigate through the "no" options until you hit the "Yes" and select it.
Then go to the Advanced menu and select "Wipe Dalvik Cache", once again, navigate through the "No" options, select yes, and let it do it's thing.

I have none of the shown options. My screen has blue text, and only four options. I don't want to risk harming my phone by flashing a different ROM. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
EDIT:
It appears I don't have CWM. Would flashing to another kernel such as Basic with a Twist delete my data?

Sorry for the confusion, I accidentally said I was going to flash a ROM. This isn't the case, but thanks to everyone for your help so far .

Reboot to recovery and see what the screen says. If you are running CWM, it should say "ClockworkMod" or "CWM" and a version number near the top, or something pretty close to that.

You don't have CWM. That's the Samsung stock recovery. Download the Basic with a Twist kernel and flash it using the instructions from the wiki to get CWM.
Note that flashing a kernel on its own will not wipe your data, but once you flash a custom ROM you most likely will need to.
If all you want is to flash the debloater, then flash one of the heimdall one click kernels. Dont flash mine tho use just Antonx's kernel.

Flashing a ROM is most commonly done through CWM recovery, so you would need to flash a kernel loaded with CWM. However, flashing a new ROM deletes all user data; and you must be EXTREMELY careful, especially if you don't know much to begin with. I would either follow a guide to the T and/or read up a lot more on the ins and outs of flashing before you change anything with your phone.
Before you go any further with flashing a ROM, I'd strongly recommend downloading at least the "free" version of Titanium Backup from the market, if not the paid version. Once you have root access, you'll find it a good backup tool when you get to flashing ROMs.
As mentioned above, if you are just flashing a kernel you generally won't lose data, but backups are wonderful things.
I'd also read up on CWM/TWRP/nandroid backups before flashing more than just a kernel.
You might want to consider moving to one of the "ICS" ROMs once you are comfortable with flashing ROMs in general. The data upgrade is a little more involved (generally you can't just "restore" system-app data from one major release to another), but the usability and stability of the ICS ROM I use is, in my opinion, much better than the best of the GB ROMs that were produced.

Sorry for the confusion, but I'm not actually going to be flashing a ROM, just the debloater. Thank you for the information though!
You need root to do what he is suggesting. I dont recall you saying you have root so no it wont work. I suggest using the heimdall one click for antonx kernel in this thread.

Just use the instructions that I gave you, it'll be so much easier and faster Use the CWM version.
I tried, I did something wrong I think . It starts turning on, then turns into a white screen with dots all over it that are different colors, then starts reloading. I made a backup, what should I do?

Unfortunately, yes it will. Do you have a backup of your original kernel? If you do, you can just flash that, that shouldn't delete any files if you only flash the kernel.

Are you on Froyo or Gingerbread? It sounds like you might still be on Froyo; both the debloater and the custom kernel you're trying to install are designed for Gingerbread.
So yeah, Heimdall One-Click time. Make sure you flash bootloaders, you'll need them if you're coming from Froyo. This'll definitely delete your apps and contacts, but if you had your contacts synced with T-Mobile or Google, then they'll come back. Hopefully the backup you made was with Titanium Backup so you can get your apps back

Please if you are going to give instructions atleast try to give proper ones.
You need to flash bootloaders with one of the heimdall one clicks. You will flash once, when it is done and starts to boot pull the battery and cable. Put the phone back in download mode and check the flash bootloaders box in heimdall one click.

Unfortunately, I don't have a Titanium Backup, but I can remember what apps I had.
Can anyone get me a proper working cwm? I've tried searching here, and i'm a tad confused... I'm just seeking getting cwm, like my galaxy nexus. Not a broken version.
Goal in 2 steps
Flash bootloader CWM or recovery or whichever it is called for cwm
Then...
Install via cwm... ics/jb...

I'm assuming you're on stock Gingerbread.
Flashing a one-click kernel with CWM built in, via Heimdall, is a pretty simple way of doing it. It's not quite as simple as what you seem to be looking for, but it's not difficult at all.
Click the following link and scroll down til you see Heimdall Suite 1.3.1. Download and install that.

Next, click this link and follow the provided links in the first post to get an idea of what it is, and how to use it.

The problem with heimdall, it keeps asking me to install driver or change, which I do over and over...
And the 2nd link refers to froyo, I'd rather avoid touching that period...

Coming from a DX, the process to root / flash on the galaxy doesn't seem that much different. Although, there seems to be greater risk for issues around imei information, etc....
So, I've read about everything I can on the forums, trying to make sure I understand all of the ins and outs and I'm starting to feel pretty comfortable with the process, however I would like someone to just confirm that i've got everything correct......
Based on this guide ( [GUIDE][VZW Edition]How to root your Galaxy SIII & More!(ROMs/CWM/Stock)) , this is how I understand things if somone could either comfirm or correct my information I would greatly appreciate it!
1. using section 2 in the guide for windows users, I use the RootDebugFS bat file to root the phone.
2. After rooting, and prior to unlocking the boot loader, I backup my IMEI using Comprehensive IMEI/EFS Backup method listed in the guide.
3. From here I can unlock the bootloader and install CWM reovery.
4. At this point, back in the droid X world I would take a back up of my system so I have a semi - stock image to go back to.
5. Now I can download any of the different custom roms listed and follow the instructions in the OP to flash that rom.
Going back to stock.
1. Should I need to go back to Stock, I would just use the ODIN tool to flash one of the stock images.
Again, If someone could just let me know if i've missed anything or if I'm WAY off base I would appreciate it.

I've got 2 more questions....
1. I tried to flash the synergy backup for the IMEI/EFS using stock recovery as per the instructions and I got a message that the signatures or something like that wasn't correct and it was aborted.... Thoughts?
2. As far as custom recoveries go.... I'm used to CWM, but I've heard a lot of good things about TWRP. Which would you recommend?

#1-Have never had to use it as I have never lost IEMI. May be a way to disable signature check in recovery. Can do permanent fix with terminal emulator.
Type:

reboot nvbackup (enter)
#2- Recovery is personal choice. I have been using TWRP since pre-order release and never had a bad flash or backup. As far as I'm concerned it rocks. Easier navigation and looks good. Some prefer CWM. To each their own. Don't recommend flashing via Rom Manager. Flash straight from recovery.

Thanks DroidStyle Wouldn't have gotten this far without the help! Finally got CWM on and flashed i that way and it worked great!
Speaking of CWM though.... in EZRecovery, do I need to hit "FLASH" and then "Reboot" recovery everytime I want to go into CWM or TWRP? If I don't it just takes me to stock recovery.

you should only need to flash cwm or twrp once, then reboot recovery to get into cwm. im not sure why its not sticking but it should.

A while ago I got a OnePlus One which came with ColorOS loaded. I of course googled my way to get the Cyanogenmod and followed these instructions.

I'm currently on the 25R firmware and I know there are some updates after that but the phone doesnt detect any update release. I would like to know why the OTA updates are not being picked up from the phone. Was it simply the easy method mentioned above?
I also thought of reflashing it properly and found some instructions on the web.
Code:
Install Android tools (and drivers if you use Windows-crap). You need the fastboot and adb tools
Get http://dist01.slc.cy...ed-fastboot.zip and unpack it
Enable USB debugging on the phone
Run adb reboot-bootloader
Once bootloader started run: fastboot oem unlock
After automatic reboot, do steps 3 & 4 again
In the directory where you unpacked it, run in a console
fastboot flash modem NON-HLOS.bin
fastboot flash sbl1 sbl1.mbn
fastboot flash dbi sdi.mbn
fastboot flash aboot emmc_appsboot.mbn
fastboot flash rpm rpm.mbn
fastboot flash tz tz.mbn
fastboot flash LOGO logo.bin
fastboot flash boot boot.img
fastboot flash cache cache.img
fastboot flash recovery recovery.img

These instructions will somehow get the OTA updates working, am I right to assume that this method would rewrite everything and I would lose the recovery software of the ColorOS? Also are the Android tools these?

Hi scabbie, from the looks of the file its an incremental update. Do I just run it from the OPO with Cyanogenmod? If this is a long tedious method, I would rather do a fresh install and get the OTA updates to work. Also part of the reason I want a clean install is because the phone is acting up and my screen goes black when I call someone and then when I want to hang up the screen is still black and I cant hang up. and physical buttons dont respond either.
I dont know if this incremental update will fix this kind of problem, so hence my option to do some clean install.

Look on YouTube on how to use this toolbox and it will completely wipe your phone then flash clean.

A toolbox is completely unnecessary, and they're more trouble than they're worth. Plus, nobody learns anything even using a toolbox, and that knowledge is crucial for when things go wrong.

I was assuming that because you're on the 25R build of CM11S that you've already unlocked your bootloader and installed TWRP recovery, if this isn't the case then you will need to follow sections 1, 2, and 3 before moving on to section 8.
The phone definitely already has some kind of recovery on it (every phone does), but you do need to install a custom recovery in order to make a backup of your current ROM. It will overwrite the existing recovery when you install it, and then later on when you flash the fastboot images (in section 8) the stock recovery will overwrite the custom recovery. So why bother flashing the custom recovery if it'll just be overwritten? Because insurance. It'll allow you to make a nandroid backup of your current setup to fall back on just in case something goes wrong.
A nandroid is like a snapshot of the phone, but it doesn't include your recovery partition, it includes the /system partition (where the os resides), the /data partition (where your apps and settings reside), and the /boot partition (the kernel). You should always have at least one nandroid on your phone at all times. Personally, I make one before I flash anything, that way if I don't like whatever I'm flashing or if something goes wrong, I can just restore my backup and boot the phone up, and it's exactly how I left it.
After you've made your backup make sure you transfer it to your PC (and anything else important on the phone), because flashing the fastboot images is going to wipe your whole phone, including all of your user data.

I was assuming that because you're on the 25R build of CM11S that you've already unlocked your bootloader and installed TWRP recovery, if this isn't the case then you will need to follow sections 1, 2, and 3 before moving on to section 8.
The phone definitely already has some kind of recovery on it (every phone does), but you do need to install a custom recovery in order to make a backup of your current ROM. It will overwrite the existing recovery when you install it, and then later on when you flash the fastboot images (in section 8) the stock recovery will overwrite the custom recovery. So why bother flashing the custom recovery if it'll just be overwritten? Because insurance. It'll allow you to make a nandroid backup of your current setup to fall back on just in case something goes wrong.
A nandroid is like a snapshot of the phone, but it doesn't include your recovery partition, it includes the /system partition (where the os resides), the /data partition (where your apps and settings reside), and the /boot partition (the kernel). You should always have at least one nandroid on your phone at all times. Personally, I make one before I flash anything, that way if I don't like whatever I'm flashing or if something goes wrong, I can just restore my backup and boot the phone up, and it's exactly how I left it.
After you've made your backup make sure you transfer it to your PC (and anything else important on the phone), because flashing the fastboot images is going to wipe your whole phone, including all of your user data.

I see, so even if my phone doesnt have much inside it should still be recommended, because of the listed above are operational and if something were to happen on the newly flashed phone, I have no way of retracing my steps.
So in a hypothetical situation I unlocked the bootloader and proceed to section 2. The recovery software provided when I first got the phone will be overwritten by the TWRP recovery and I will have lost the old one. I will then perform a nandroid backup where I can preserve a last known working configuration as an insurance, if future flashes fail. I assume you restore nandroid backup through the TWRP recovery? Also the nandroid backup is made on the phone? so I will need to transfer that to my PC before flashing?
At this stage all I changed is the bootloader and recovery partition with custom recovery. When I jump to section 8 it should be smooth sailing, provided I follow them clearly and the drivers work on the PC.
I apologise for being a pain in the butt! I just like to clarify before I do something horrible and have no idea what to do next.

You do indeed restore a nandroid backup with the recovery that you made the backup with. And yes it is saved on the phone so you will need to transfer it to your PC. You're not being a pain in the butt, you're doing the right thing and researching before attempting something.

Yeah I agree users like you that research crap before attempting something are much preferred over users that blindly use a toolbox then come complaining cuz they messed something up but dunno how to fix it. I always do my research before flashing just like you are doing. Just make sure you install the drivers I linked to computer wide on your windows computer and you should have no problems, no need to install separate SDK for android and copy the files you're flashing into a special folder, etc

Anyone could be so kind to tell me what's the easiest way to to this? I have a 64gb chinese version.
