[Q] Will titanium backup work with data from a sideloaded app? - General Questions and Answers

Hey guys, I was wondering, since I like to try the full version of a game by sideloading it first and playing for a while, will the data that I back up on titanium while it's sideloaded be able to be restored to the paid version from the Play Store if I purchase the full app? You know, because if I like a game or application enough, I'll purchase it for the updates and to support the developer. So If the data is backed up while its sideloaded and not paid, and I buy the application, can it be restored so that I don't have to start over and my data isn't lost?

Try and find out. As you are using warez you will find no help here. Also be careful. Most of those apps contain things like keyloggers and data miners.

Anyone know why the Play Store doesn't always restore apps?

I've always found the Play Store to be incredibly inconsistent when it comes to restoring apps.
When I recently Odin'd back to stock and signed into my Google account, the Play Store instantly began downloading all of the apps that I had installed on the last ROM. Apps that had been uninstalled were not re-downloaded; it only restored the apps that were on the phone most recently.
But when I just installed Synergy and signed into Google, it didn't bother restoring anything. I know that I can go to All Apps > All, but this is just a huge list of every app that I've ever downloaded on an Android device. It's far more tedious.
Anyone know the reason for this inconsistency?
(And no, I'm not a fan of apps like Titanium Backup.)
Some roms give you a check box to check if you want to restore apps and some dont. It should ask if you want to backup your apps and if you want to restore apps during the install.

Google's play store backup only backs up your last ROM that you signed into with your Google Account.
So, if you didn't restore all of your apps when you flashed another ROM, Google Play restored "0" apps for that ROM and made a backup with "0" apps. That's why you aren't getting any restored.
I recommend Titanium Backup.

is there a trusted source to download discontinued apps?

So I bought a new phone and one of the apps (catch) is no available in play store any longer.
I really like it and want to continue using it. So is there any trusted source for old apks?
Regards
Bump
If you've got the app running on the old phone, you can try to back it up with apps like Titanium Backup (requires root) or App Monster or similar. You can then transfer the apk from the sdcard to your new phone and reinstall it that way.

Game backup doesn't work after changing ROM

I've recently flashed a new version of my current ROM and although Real Racing works like a champ after restoring my Titanium backup, NFS Most Wanted won't play ball. When I try to launch the app I get the message "NFS is not authorised for this Android device, and it immediately closes. Going to the Play Store whilst logged into the same Google account I purchased the game with shows me NFS as if I had not purchased.
Restoring my nandroid of the earlier ROM allows me to go to the Play Store (logged in with the exact same Google account) and NFS MW shows as purchased.
Presumably this is to do with device ID, perhaps? Can anyone explain, please?
EDIT:
Resolved by restoring nandroid where game worked, flashing new ROM from scratch and restoring Android ID from old nandroid when asked by Titanium if I wanted to keep new ID or restore old Android ID.

Play store not restoring all apps

Okay guys so I've had this issue before, it's an Issue with play store not restoring all apps after reinstalling a new ROM.
It causes me a lot of time to have to restore & individually download about 50% of the apps that didn't manage to restore from play store.
You can see them all sitting my my apps/all section of the play store but in the history yet not restored/installed.
Very rarely have I ever managed to have the play store restore every single app without fail.
Anybody else experiencing this problem?
I know that I could theoretically use Titanium Backup to restore the apps but this shouldn't be necessary for apps downloaded from play store
Titanium backup restores are far quicker......and use no data. And puts your phone back the way it was....aside from system settings.
Not sure why anyone would not use it who flashes ROMs.

[Completed] [Q] Please help, I cannot retrieve my Play purchases! :(

I cannot retrieve my in-app purchases. Regular app purchases all seem to be fine, but none of my in-app purchases will refresh. Example: Cannot get my purchased fonts in Over, and cannot get the premium version of Smash Hit I paid for. These are not the only apps, mind you.
Ive uninstalled and reinstalled Google Play (my huawei ascend mate 2 is rooted), ive cleared data, ive uninstalled and reinstalled google play services, removed my google account from my device and re-entered it. I cant seem to get this fixed, and I would like to keep a factory reset as my very last resort.
Bonus question: Feel free to scold me, because I've scolded myself, but since this (and my Sony) was one of the first devices I rooted, I got over-excited and began deleting bloatware before performing a nandroid backup.... So the backup I have, is the backup I did AFTER the bloat was deleted. Does this mean that doing a factory restore would send my phone into bootloop, since the factory version of this device had said bloatware, and now doesn't? *facepalms* :/
Hi, thank you for using XDA assist. Since you've deleted "bloatware" that you may need I would suggest you flash the stock firmware and start over. You can look through this to see if how to do that is answered and if not ask the question here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/ascend-mate2/help
