[Q] No format dbdata. - Samsung Galaxy SL i9003

Hey guys, im fighting with my phone since yesterday to install CM10, when i finally installed it i figured out my CWM doesn't have "format dbdata" in mounts and storage, so i can't install gapps... I'm losing my mind so i decided ask to people who knows.
PS: Scuse my english, I'm from Argentina so it isn't very good...
PS2: My phone is GT-I9003L, Dont know if it matters (I couldn't find a specific forum for that one)

Dont worry man forgot dbdata and go to next step of installation. I havent dbdata too and flashed hundreds of roms.
Good luck!!.

But if I skip that, next step is install gapps, i do and reboot... CM starts OK but i doesn't have gapps (at startup u dont see the configuration of google acc, no play store etc...)
I kind of solved it 2 min ago by flashing alpha 3 instead of alpha 4 and i was able to format dbdata and install gapps, but its older than alpha 4, i should look the changelogs to see what im missing...

You are sure you installed the correct gapps?. Maybe this is your mistake.
Try this slim gapps it worked for me if you want more gapps you can install via play store.

gapps-jb-20121011-signed <-- That's the one I was using, downloaded from the same post where I downloaded the rom, so i guess it's OK. (plus it worked for alpha3 but not 4, that's weird)

[Q] flashing cm7

This is pretty much the only rom I haven't tried yet. I read about 10 pages on the dev page but Im just not 100% sure how to flash this rom. I'm currently running miui with blue recovery, so I'm good there. I've already downloaded the latest build according to the dev page, but I have no idea what gapps or whatever is. I read that I can download them in rom manager, I checked it out but there's like 10 versions. Do I flash the Google app then cm7?

With blue CWM recovery you should be able to flash CM7 with a normal flash in CWM. If you boot loop, pull battery and reflash. The gapps is all the google apps you need, Cyanogen can't include google apps in the Rom. If you download gapps through rom manager, pick the latest one. I actually downloaded gapps from the Cm7 wiki. (the link for it is in the OP for Cm7 Rom) Flash the rom first THEN gapps and you should be good.

Ya thats what I meant by normal flash lol. I know when flashing from red you need to format but, I can't remember if I did so when flashing from CM7 to MIUI or if its needed. You can try it without, and if it doesn't work then format, just make a backup before you do. I just remember the format system part is before you flash the zip a second time after a battery pull.

MIUI comes with the market which is really all you need ( you can download the rest from the market) CM7 is what needs gapps, best way to get these is from the rom thread, he's got a link in the OP somewhere.

Did you flash gapps through rom manager or cwm? I had to mess with that for a while and could only get it to work when flashing through cwm (blue). Worth the effort though. This is my favorite rom and I'm pretty sure I've tried them all. A lot of them anyways.

Make sure you're downloading for p999 device, latest is 20120610. If still having problems, boot into CWM, Nandroid backup first, factory reset, wipe cache & dalvik-cache, flash ROM, flash gapps.

I didn't think the gapps were platform specific. Please correct me if I am wrong but I thought they were universal and more architecturial specific. Divided up into 3 key factors; Android version, architecture, and CM7 build. Not p999, p990, etc. I could be very wrong. If that's the case, I am sorry aand could you provide a link?
The gapps version I am using is 20110828.

So instead of taking the latter, I just uninstalled and downloaded the gmail app from the market. It worked. I feel stupid for not thinking of that before!
Is that link not working for anyone else?
I can't take screen shots either. It says mbitmap = null.

I think you're confusing some concepts. gapps.zip is required to enable Google Market/Play, it's not included in CM ROMs. Gmail app is supposed to be downloaded from the market once you can access the market.
BTW my prev post was referring to the ROM 20120610 for p999, latest gapps for CM7 is 20110828 (generic), which I assume you know how to flash, I just included it at the end for completeness since the factory reset will have erased gapps.
the link to get.cm works for me, but you have to scroll down on the left side and click P999 to get the ones for our phones. those are device specific, gapps is android version specific
try this link directly to the CM7 nightlies, the first zip is the one you want
http://get.cm/?device=p999&type=nightly

[Q] What should i choose? PA or stay on CM?

Hi! I'm new here, but i am a bit experienced in stuff...
Anyway, when i got my Tab 2 7.0, i did flash it to Cyanogen. Now, i am on RC2
Now, i am stuck on a question: "Should i get ParanoidAndroid 3+ or stay on CyanogenMod?"
I *can't* find any clear opinions, bug list, installation instructions or kernels... ( I know what is Factory Reset, but "Wipe Everything"? )
So i ask your help, guys. ParanoidAndroid seems an A+++ rom for me, as i like costumization. No, do not ask me to get Xposed, it's already hard as it is for me.
So thanks guys!
Full wipe just means clear the caches in clockworkmod

Send from invader Zim's spaceship.
search on internet for Rom called jelly bam its awesome and its a combine pac Rom.
it uses latest cyanogenmod build and have paranoid android incorporated.
it will be best for u .i think so
I flashed paranoidandroid on my Tab2-p3100 but i had problem with the mic, which was not working at all.
I never flashed cyanogenmod on my tab (may be I am afraid of the term "nightly" makes it seem very unstable, you know!, though, they say they are as stable as they come).
Now there is this PAC-ROM , claims to have all-in-one features of all the roms together, i flashed it as well, it was also a good rom to test, but there were some bugs in it (you can refer to the thread), now I am using Adishakti's Dark-Fantasy-2 rom, which is a modded paranoidandroid+AOSP+ maybe caynogenmod ROM but it is really very good and stable, least of glitches i noticed elsewhere
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2212582
That would be my opinion about it.

DarkFantasy is PAC ROM with Sony launcher and some eye/ear candy.
Please, I beg you, try cyanogenmod. If your uncomfortable tyr the cyanogenmod RC 2. It is the most stable ROM I have used. I have used to for almost 3 months now. Since I am a flashaholic i flash other ROM's often but i find cyanogenmod the best and I always go back to it.

I agree, also. I think it is funny how people go crazy over ROMs which are just other roms modified to the makers preferences. Not to say the makers do not deserve credit for their hard work, but why not take a good ROM and mod it to your own liking. Just an opinion.

Wow, so many comments on my "2cents"
Maybe my comment was perceived as "noob rant"
I had some experience with cyanogenmod in the past with some older phones (gingerbread ones) and definitely i was hooked to it then. But like I said, I was just afraid to try it on my Tab because of that dreadful suffix to it, and Luigi, your comment has really moved me
I am a member at cyanogenmod forum for last 2 years by the same name and I think on this forum too by the same name.
I actually had nothing much to post on xda previously because almost everything I wanted to know was already posted and i used this forum's knowledge to flash friends' phones mostly and had no experience of anything i used so nothing to post, but, since I now own a Galaxy tab P3100 and most of the time I am reading this section about the tab, I just wanted to share what i thought appropriate, that's all.
Thanks for pointing out that the rom I was talking about is a modded PAC-ROM, and I think what one flashes and uses is a matter of personal choice, i just shared my opinion as i think the OP asked for that.
Thanks for the comments

Actually I had a huge backup of applications but I happen to read the SGT2 cyanogenmod nightly thread and right there in the first or second post users are warned against using titanium backup to restore apps. And I thaought, what the hell, maybe I need to wipe Internal memory clean from time to time so why not now.
Somewhere in the forum a new app backup software is suggested, "helium backup"! Any experience with that?
So now we are going way off topic
Back to the topic, after using the new ROM whole night (seriously I was on a night shift!), I found out it to be lot better than someone else's modded version, I used "PimpMyRom" to my heart's content!!!!!
