S-Pan on Galaxy S4!??? - Galaxy S 4 Accessories

hi,
I got a S4(i9500 with Exynos 5 Octa) and tested a while,
and I want to test what's happened when using S-Pan,
so I took my Galaxy Note 10.1 and tested on S4.
in fact, there is no response at home screen and APP screen,
but when enter Samsung test mode using "* # 0 * #" at dial screen,
and I choose "TSP Hovering" mode,
basically, this mode is tested for finger hovering control,
but when I use S-Pan on TSP Hovering mode, and make S-Pan contact to panel,
it worked!!
the S-Pan had responded at TSP Hovering mode,
does anyone do this test, too?
thanks

S-Pan* is that on eSpAñol ? :silly:
any way

That's because the screen can pick up anything. As in, whether you use your nipple, another Galaxy S4, or a rock, the phone will pick it up. However the S-Pen will not work as an S-Pen.

[APP][4.1+] Knockr - Lockscreen

After seeing a lot of comparison videos of the HTC One m8 and the Galaxy S5 I realized one of the big things HTC has is their motion launch gestures. Unfortunately for HTC it is limited to doing just a few things. So since the Galaxy S5 has an OLED screen which is turned "off" when displaying black pixels, I figured I could create something like the motion launch gestures that uses minimal battery.
So I created Knockr an app that allows users with OLED Screen devices, like the Samsung Galaxy S5 and Moto X, to quickly enter an app with gestures without having to turn the screen on.
Gestures include:
Double Tap: Double tap the screen to open any app you choose or unlock the screen
Swipe Up, Down, Left, Right: Users can set each Swipe to open a separate app or unlock the screen
Long Press: Long press the screen to open any app you choose or unlock the screen
Volume Up when in Landscape: Pressing the volume up button when the device is in Landscape will automatically open the camera
I am still working on improving some of the things in Knockr, but wanted to post it on here to get some feedback and suggestions to make it better.
Download Here
**EDIT**
The newest update 2.1 now includes Knocks. Knocks is like LG's Knock Code. You can create multiple Knocks to unlock or open apps.

Going to give it a try with my Galaxy S4 Mini, I hope it's not too harsh on the battery. Nevertheless this application seems like a great idea, Thank you.
EDIT: Seems to work very well. Just a few things I noticed.
-The screen can turn on by a single touch to the screen (it will then display lockscreen)
-The backlight keys turn on after the app is activated once the screen is locked (the keys are only on for a few seconds on my phone anyway, no big deal)
-Is it possible to decrease the delay between when the phone is locked and when the Knockr app is loaded/active?

You said that this is for screens with OLED yet someone commented checking whether it would work with their S4 Mini. Now I thought that S4's had AMOLED which was different, if I'm mistaken, does this mean that it will work on my S4-19505?
Thanks, it looks brill by the way.
Nandish-
AM-(OLED) your device has an OLED display. It only works with OLED type screens cause they use no power to produce black screens.

Only one touch and the screen is awake to show the lock pattern on Samsung S4.
What an awesome app! My only recommendation is to take away the one tap to turn on the screen, as the screen can accidentally turn on in your pocket very easily and cause unwanted battery drain.

Thanks for the feedback. It shouldn't use much battery especially if you use the power management since you probably wont have your phone turned off to often outside of your pocket during the day and if you do you can just turn it over and still get the same benefit.
I have already uploaded a new version that has removed the single tap action so there aren't any false touches registered. It also made the screen on an option to choose for any of the gestures. It also fixes a bug that cause Knockr to close when the orientation was changed after being pocketed.
Unfortunately I don't think there is a way to load Knockr any faster since I already have it setup to load as fast as possible. The problem is that I have to use a broadcast receiver to receive the screen off and the broadcast takes a little bit of time to be sent out (I'll keep looking for ways to make it faster though).
Really cool app!
Few recommendations:
1. Any way to show clock and notifications every couple of seconds? (Ex 15s)
2. Way to bypass knockr when power button is pressed.
Thanks!

awesome app
awesome app.
but there is delay while unlocking phone (or performing any action while screen is locked).
i don't know it is because of my s3 or app
but cool idea.
one more suggestion screen should be unlocked after pressing power button.
mind blowing app.
works great.
thanks for this and keep going on.
it is really nice idea.
questions :
can it detect multi finger on screen off? we might get more gesture thts why only.
screen segmentation? means on some part of screen it detects then that gesture recognized.
just some ideas.
Awesome app. Just awesome. I didn't want to install a custom kernel just for this feature and now I don't have to. Working great at the moment. Power button is no use for unlocking but app is working with almost no hitch.
A suggestion for people who use this. Install screen on&off from play store and add that to nova launcher's double tap gesture to lock the screen. Now you can use double tap to both locking and unlocking.
Also, I have to swipe twice to open an app. Can't we do that with one swipe?
Edit: It opens with one swipe but it isn't always working. Needs some work.
Bug
found a bug :
proximity sensor always on for me on stock 4.4.2 Note 2 N7100.
whether i check power management or not.
App works on Galaxy S3, only that the proximity sensor thing for pockets, it isn't very accurate. I kinda cheated to test it, covered my sensor, then swiped left to try to launch camera, and it did. I didn't want my camera to be turned on and heating my phone in my pocket during school

I don't have a OLED lcd panel but I decided to try it. is it because I don't have a OLED panel that the screen shows black with 2 navigation buttons on it? And if that's the reason is there a way to make it work on TFT panels?
I am having this issue with my Verizon Moto X. Does it need any extra settings?
It installed on Galaxy Nexus (It is having SUPER AMOLED), when I double tap, screen wakes but shows black screen.
Cool app!
I can see navbar when i turn screen off though. And i can press power button and turn device off...
Im using a n7000 running Slimkat

Hey! This works very nicely! I'm having no problems so far. However, on my stock 4.4.2 Samsung Note 3 N900W8, I've noticed that if I have Multi Window on (use two apps at the same time), the multi window tab shows on the screen when Knockr becomes active. Specifically, I turn off my screen using the power button, and a second or two later the tab pops up. I don't know if this can be prevented without turning multi window off entirely, but thought I'd bring it up. Great app!

[Q] floating touch/ tsp hovering on any app or home screen

Hello ,we all know tsp hovering when you call *#0*# and you to that test similar to the touch test but you do not touch the screen on your galaxy s5/s4. It is realy nice but you cant use it on any other app or even the home screen
So,here is my question:Is there any app that would allow you to use tsp hovering aka floating touch on any app. I have an galaxy s5 sm-g900f i also have root .This would be helpful when i have my hands dirty

Screenshot Shortcut

Guys,
How do you enable the screenshot shortcut with S-Pen ?
Earlier in Note 4 / Note 3, You can keep the pen on screen, and then press and hold the S-Pen button and it will trigger a screenshot.
The Note edge doesn't seem to do that, and I was looking for a way to enable it.
Any luck Anyone ?
EDIT -
One more Question, Ive seen in all YouTube reviews that in Camera App, Shutter buttons are on the edge panel rather than the App screen. Is there a way to enable it, or is this no longer available in 5.0.1 ?

Just as easy to hit the air command. It will come up as a snote and just hit the checkmark and it saves it as a screenshot

I think he means after you hit the air command then you hit screen write and it takes a screen shot at that point so all you have to do then is hit the check in the upper right and it will save it.
On another note I use the side of my palm wipe across the screen and it works well and is fast. Just another option.
Easier yet.... Just press the power button and home button at the same time to take a screenshot.
Why not put a screenshot button on the edge panel that'd be nice.
If you have hand gestures turned on then swiping the side of your Palm from right to left across the screen is the gesture for screenshots. Also as stated before you can use screen write or even smart select if you want only part of the screen I use that a lot, and the power+home held for a second or so will do the trick.
I think there should have been a screen cap button on one of the edge panels tho. One of the pre-installed ones like the favorites one, maybe on a pull down like the ruler app.

[BUG REPORT][Solved] lock screen will make interface disappear after second video

By interface I mean the lock screen icon and any custom info that has been set. For example I have time remaining, time etc in the top corners. The only workaround is to switch on-off the screen with a hardware button, and the device will leave lock mode.
Using the last pro version in a Samsung galaxy 10.1 2014 but this issue is already several month in.

I can reproduce it. But, there is no need to screen off & on to unlock. Just touch the screen again. It will show lock button (not other custom Settings). You can easily unlock it to show the interface again.
BTW, you can fix this issue by simply adust the settings
Open Settings > Player > Lock Screen & set it to mode 3.

Note 10+ 2 big screw ups ?

I don't know if I am the fool here but has the hard press area on the screen on note 9 been removed from note 10+ ?
I aware I have tried hard pressing all over those screen to no avail.
Also another issue is the fingerprint scanner. It's working fine for me regardless to other people's reports but I have to press the damn power button to turn the display on now.
With note 9 I just placed my finger on the back of the phone and it always unlocked flawlessly and now no hard press and I can't just place my finger on the screen to turn the screen on.
Is there no way to make a hard press region in the screen even if third party software?
Has anyone found a AOD theme for note 10+ with a fingerprint mark on the display so I can always see where to exactly place my finger without having to press power button ?

As far as I know hard press time button is gone I also have the note 9 and I'm on the upgrade program and I've upgraded to the note 10 plus
I havemt recieved the jiffy bag yet of samsung to return the note 9 but if I'm honest I'm thinking of returning the note 10 I cannot stand the fingerprint scanner and the camera punch for me just spoils the whole experience of a great display
And there is also all the health sensors, headphone jack, iris scanner
I have set the always on display to tap to display. So I can either tap the display then use my fingerprint, or I actually can just use the fingerprint directly (if I am at the approximate correct position).
My only issue is that my fingerprints are messed up from dryness and working on rough stuff. So, it takes a bit of time for the fingerprint reading to register (and I have to press pretty hard).

Yea I am thinking of sending it back as well. I'll give it a few more days to fool around with before I make my decision.
I have mine setup to wake up when I pick it up, and enable face recognition along fingerprints since the on screen reader sucks.
The face recognizition is almost instant. No idea how secure it is, but works well

1) Hard press - meaning that when on home screen, tap and hold on an icon to get context menu? - If yes, then it is still there
2) I don't have to turn the screen on to be able to unlock the phone. You just need to be precise where you place your finger while the screen is dark

No hard press as in it works as a home button which was a great feature for a phone without a physical home button.
