verizon g3 apn settings!!!!! - Verizon Samsung Galaxy S III

So, I'm obviously new... I've been flashing roms for about 2 months now. Anyhow, I recently flashed a rom (rls12) and for some reason, my mms settings are gone! I managed to find bits and pieces online and it [artially works. What I mean is, if I'm not on wifi, it sends in a hurry. If I'm on wifi, nothing happens. It just keeps spinning, like it's trying but nothing happens. Will someone give me the Apn settings. I tried to do a backup on titanium, but for whatever reason, when i either restore the dialer data or dialer app or both, the message app forcecloses. So I'm kind of out of options... Please helpppp..

I would suggest flashing SynergyRom r484, The installer has a superwipe option, Make sure to backup everything you want to external sdcard! And install from external sdcard only. Then select superwipe and the apps & options you want. If your on Verizon select Bypass activation but Don't select the GSM option. I don't like the last two performance options myself. Repeat BACKUP EVERYTHING YOU WHAT AND NEED TO EXTERNAL SDCARD AND INSTALL FROM EXTERNAL SDCARD ONLY. Not trying to be rude just its very important to do if you superwipe. That should get you back apns if not then read up on odin. That will take you back to complete stock and you will have to root and unlock again. But you will be able to take the ota and then root and unlock if you want. If you go this route follow the instructions for jb the old ics root & stuff will not work.
Good Luck
Cruzin the Galaxy SIII via SynergyRom/Anthrax kernels

484 will work. MMS over wifi is not native. It is a hack and has to be in rom.

I fixed it. Not sure how really. Lol. Well I do know. Lol. I did a dirty flash of rls12 and changed to aop. Then it was force closing. I restored my back up of my messaging settings from rls11 through titanium back up and it worked. If anyone else is having this problem I'll be glad to send my backup settings. Once someone tells me how lol

[Q] Ringtones gone....

First post... let me itroduce myself first.
I'm Stu....I've been lurking here for years and finally unlocked my first phone!
I'm currently using the SideKick4g, and this foru was a HUGE help in the unlocking process. Thanks!!!
I think I may have gotten a little crazy with the deleting, however. Everything is running fine at this point other than when I try to change ring/notification settings. Trying to access things gives me a force close every time.
I'm guessing I deleted something crucial. Anybody know what it may have been and how I can go about fixing this and/or getting around the situation? Will a simple program such as ringdroid replace whatever I got rid of? Shold I just flash a custom ROM?
Thanks in advance guys!
Stu
Let me add that I rooted with SuperOneClick, and used RootExplorer for ditching my bloatware. Hope that helps a little!
Stu
What did you remove? Ringtones are stored in /system/media/, do they just not show up when trying to set it, or does something else happens? Are you missing your stock ringtones, or just your custom ones?
When I go to settings>sound...selecting eithr phone ringtone or notification ringtone causes my force close.
I think maybe I deleted my system/media thinking it was the stock media player
Not that I'm too bummed about it. The stock rings are all just crappy versions of the "T-jingle".
I'd just like to be able to change stuff up
Well, looks like you took a risk and it came back to bite you. Reflash your ROM and try again.
Well...there's where the problem lies. I've never flashed a ROM. I'm sure I can handle it....just never done it.
And if I do need to flash a new ROM anyways, I feel like I should just flash a custom ROM. The gingerclone looks pretty nice. Does this delete my original ROM all together in the process? Are custom ROMs free of bloat?
That will wipe everything, so you should make a backup beforehand. yes, custom roms are almost always free of bloat, GingerClonev2 is only 124MB, where the stock rom is over 200MB. There are a few issues we're still working out, but it's pretty steady. otherwise, Teddy is releasing an update to an older ROM sometime soon as well, so I'd be on the lookout for that.
Okay cool. I'm gonna do some quick research and figure out how to do this.
What's the best way to save my original ROM to my desktop on my computer?
I'm just worried about killing my phone completely at this point.....
If you have CWM, use the backup menu, which uses Nandroid to backup everything by dumping everything on your phone into images. This all dumps onto your SDcard in the clockworkmod folder.
You can't brick your phone using CWM, you can only do that using ODIN, and only if you're not following directions/being intentionally stupid
Okay cool....downloading ROM Manager right now. I'm sure I'll post back with a few questions shortly!
Once the CWM/ROM manager has backed everything up....i should be able to copy the backup to my desktop? same thing with installing a new ROM
? Desktop to SD card?
BAhhhhhh.
I clicked on backup current rom and sent it into recovery mode.
Sorry about my lack of knowhow. Hopefully this all helps some others as well.....
I guess my biggest questions right now.... how do I get my original rom to a folder on my desktop, and once I download gingerclone, how do i move that from my desktop to sd to running it?
Yeah, copy the clockworkmod folder from your sdcard to your desktop, that'll copy everything off. I wouldn't suggest Rom Manager, many people have problems with that CWM. Look in the Dev forum for the CWM thread, and use that one.
In recovery mode, there should be a backup and restore menu. use the backup option, and then copy the clockworkmod folder from your sdcard to your desktop. that's your backup.
Okay. I plugged in my phone to the computer, and dragged a copy of the entire clockworkmod folder to my desktop.
Gingerclone is downloaded. Drag it to my SD? anywhere specific? or just on it?
On my desktop now is: folder/download, .recoverychecpoint(1KB), .salted_hash(1KB), .settings(1KB), and .settings2(1KB)
This is my backup correct?
I lost rom manager/root explorer.
After clearing stuff out and rebooting...it rebooted to the original rom with none of my added apps.
Can't download anything either at this point.
HELP!
Download manager keeps stopping and forces closed.
I reboot into recovery...and my options are:
reboot system now
reinstall packages
delete all user data
delete cache data
If I try to reinstall packages, I get" E: failed to open /mnt/internal_sd/update.zip(no such file or directory)
E: signature verification failed.
I'm in over my head now. Anyone out there maybe wanna help walk me thorough this on AIM or google chat or anything?
Which rom did you flash?
I tried flashing yours....but nothing. It's on my SD card right now
It just boots up to the original sidekick home/os.
You probably need to reroot or another update. Zip
Edit: actually what it sounds like you did was something similiar to what i did with a samsung galaxy s i deleted a bunch of apps and the i did a data wipe and factory restore without flashing my custom firmware through cwm and when it factory resetted it was real buggy from all the missing apps so u will have to odin

I can get into download mode....but ODIN won't recognize my phone. ID:COM stays blank
Try installing the Galaxy S drivers?

[Q] Finished rooting with oneclickrcovery...few questions on roms.

1) The first Rom I flashed was eagleblood. I put it on my SD card from my computer, then I put the SD card back in my phone and did the rest from there. Can we flash Roms without using the computer like if we download right to our phones on the website and then flash?
2)Eagleblood is the first and only Rom I looked at and flashed so far but after clicking the eagleblood link, there was about 7 or 8 different downloads. I guess I got lucky and chose the right one so I'm assuming the others were updates. So for the future, how do I distinguish between them and know which is the actual Rom download link?
3) Which is the best Rom?
4) How do I get my home screen to show in landscape view since I'm rooted now?
5) When flashing from Rom to Rom, how do I get all my apps, phone settings, and everything else back without having to take an hour to resetup everything? Can you explain the procedure if you are going to recommend an app for this? Right now I downloaded the free version of titanium backup so I'm assuming that would be it. I see where you can back stuff up with this app, but after switching Roms, how do I restore if the flashing of the new Rom will erase titanium?
6) Which apps would you guys recommend uninstalling from eagleblood that wont hurt anything?
Thanks guys.

1. Yes
2. The newest one. Look at the version numbers.
3. That's up to you to decide for yourself. Nobody's preferences are the same.
4.You could have done this before. It depends on what launcher you are using most of the time. Play around in the launcher settings.
5.Get the paid version of titanium. Use it to backup user apps+data. Settings and system apps don't normally respond well to a new rom. After you flash something new, get on the market and just download titanium again. Restore from your backup afterwards. All your apps+data will be back. Your phone settings need to be done manually to avoid errors.
6.If you're unsure about uninstalling apps, get the paid version of titanium and freeze the app instead. If it screws something up then defrost.
All of this info is already here. Poke around a little more.

Thanks for all the answers. How do we do it from phone?
I believe EB has a mobile site, so just navigate to it using your browser and download the appropriate files. They'll wind up on the SD card where you can just flash through CWM.
what ever you download from the browser it'll show up in SD cards/Downloads... it'll be in there and then from there you can move it or you can navigate from the CWM to there

Who or what is "EB"?
As for your answer to number 4......how do you get to the launcher settings? I'm not sure what those are.
EaglesBlood
and some launchers have a custom settings built in some don't, including the stock EB launcher!

[Q] Backup Tether settings in ICS?

Hey guys,
I'm runnign AOSPX BR1 and I'm trying to find a way to backup the tether settings in the settings menu so that I don't have to re-type my SSID and passphrase every time I re-flash. I didn't have much luck finding it via TiBu.
Anyone have any suggestions?
The one thing that comes to mind is finding this file in the system and backing that up manually, then re-flashing it as a zip after I flash a new rom. Is this plausible?
EDIT: I looked through the rom ZIP and found some tethering related stuff in the settings.apk file (and nowhere else). Going to try backing up settings.apk but not quite sure if it stores the actual tethering settings here. WIll report back soon with results when I re-flash

These are system Settings. While TIBU can do this it is not advised to restore any system settings as the way they are handled are changed often and will cause issues when restored. This is one of the prices one pays for flashing custom roms.

How to restore using Titanium Backup

I had recently rooted my phone and had installed Titanium backup using which I backed up all the apps+data.
Using Titanium backup I tried to remove a stock app provided by lg. During this process the phone rebooted twice and after that I saw that the phone had been reset to the factory settings.
I restored by following the below steps
Titanium backup > Backup/Restore > menu > batch > Restore > run Restore missing apps + all system data.
After restoring I observe that the phone is not being able to connect to any wifi, however previously when it was in factory reset it was being able to connect to wifi. Could anyone please help.
Which stock app did u remove?

I think it was one of "Dhingana", "Bollywoodji" or "AG indian newspapers". I had restored after that but currently I do not find "Dhingana" among the installed apps.
It would be the best of you would factory reset again. If you have a custom recovery, then reboot into it(either from ROM Manager or with phone off holding Volume Down+Home+Power) and wipe data, cache etc. If you haven't got a custom recovery, then power your phone off and use the key combination above. It should work.
And don't use "restore system data" option in Titanium. Better restore individual apps in the "Backup/Restore" without going into the Batch mode.

Which setting/file are the system settings saved in? Things like the nav bar, notification bar, display, account syns, etc....? I know all about the pitfalls of restoring system data across different ROMs and for those cases, I just bite the bullet and redo all of those settings. But it seriously takes an hour or two to go in and redo all of those settings and if a RM is getting updated every couple of weeks, this just gets way too tedious for it to be worth it.
I know I can just do a system data + app and data restore for those cases and I do use that but there are times when I do not want every single thing restored and it would be nice to know which file all of those settings are saved in. I tried tinkering with just a few of those but I could not seem to find it.
Thank you in advance for any help, much appreciated.
And/or which file(s) cause the android.process.media to stop working and in general causes apps to crash? Also, does the Android ID cause/affect that? Thanks again.
[Edit] After much trial and error, I found the cause of the android.media.process and all apps in general crashing as a result problem(s). It was the file(s) Download Manager eng.prbassplayer and/or Downloads eng.prbassplayer inside Titanium Backup - Restore System Data selections. Just fyi for those wanting to know. I restored all other system and app data besides those and had no problems whatsoever with all Interface settings restored. I still did not figure out which file restored the Interface settings, if anyone could still shed some light on that.
This post relates to custom ROMs and restoring stuff with TB. Hoping someone can help.
I have been playing with Resurrection Remix for the last 7 months and have recently switched to Vanilla Rootbox.
With these two ROM's (and probably others) when an update is released a wipe/factory reset is required before installing the update. This causes a great amount of inconvenience as I have to manually re-setup all my shortcuts/widgets, email accounts, custom settings such as custom settings (toggles, etc...) ringtones and notifications sounds and so on.
All this takes ages and I'm getting a little tired of having to do it. There must be an easier way? Can this sort of stuff be restored with TB? I could be wrong but I don't think it can.
Many thanks.

try to save them in TB, if you can find in TB and save them it will be restored to any rom you will use in future
I was under the impression that those settings caused problems if formats were needed and especially between different ROM's?
And yeah, tmarinos I definitely her you there. I have stopped using those extra customizations for my ROM, though I can usually restore my home screen and app drawer settings safely, thankfully.
The developers of my ROM (Slim Bean) have started that they want to include a feature to restores those settings between resets, so hopefully that type of feature becomes more integrated as time goes on. Hopefully.
On another note, my phone's TB is having issues. When it runs an automated scheduled backup task, it keeps saying "insufficient storage" but if I manually run that exact same task it runs just fine. Anyone have any idea what that's about?

general overall color and rom questions

Hay all,
I have several questions/issues that i am hoping someone can help with and or point me to the location for the proper help.
First,
original boost mobile galaxy s5, running 4.4 Rom
Flashed OA6 using ODIN to put 5.0 on
flashed CF/root using ODIN to gain root
flashed Philz recovery
At this stage i have a completely stock rom with root access.
Second i dl several custom roms to try including cryogen, metal rom, and unadulterated. I had the same issues with all of them as follows,
*no data when leaving an area where phone is on wifi
*cannot move apps to sd card
*no voice mail notifications
*gps not working
*phone reads lte but no lte speeds
I did a full wipe of cashe/divlsk cashe (however is spelled) and format for new rom. this did not allow the above to work. Had this issue on 2 s5's.
I have tried the 'fixes' that others have suggested to no avail. I have also tried to send the developers some of these questions with no response (i get they are busy).
After repeating this procedure (back to Stock ODIN/CF Root/Philz/new room) over and over with the same results i decided to STOP after flashing Philz
Then I DL-ed 'root app delete' from the play store. Took off all the crap i didn't want.
Flashed volume boost
installed adw launcher
This 'stock' room is the only one i could use where everything was working correctly.
That being said, i would like to have a dark theme for contacts, system ui, settings, etc. Without having to worry about screwing up everything i have set up for the 15th time.
Additionally, i had quick pic installed and a gallery hidden. Now, quick pic not installed and cannot get that gallery to show back up to use the new 'protection mode'. I have check the permissions using root explorer. They are set to rrw for all. I have cleaned cashe and still can get that gallery to show up.
Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance,
Steve
*I am the same user from above just recovered my prefered email and user name association.
Its been almost a week. Does no one have any ideas? Thanks in advance.
