This maybe not be in the styles xml. This could be in a few places. Check the colors folder and the layout folder. And depending on what it is calling it maybe calling it from the framework files and not the contacts apk.

Yes I know it is in the framework-res.apk.. And you're right it could also be somewhere in layout.. But I can't seem to figure out which xml. I already did the necessary editing on select_dialog_item.xml, select_dialog_singlechoice.xml and select_dialog_multichoice.xml.. It could perhaps be still in styles.xml.. Will someone tell me where?

The problem is that depending on the rom it is in a deifferent place and refered to differently.
Have you looked in the contacts apks and tried to track it down that way?

I dont have anywhere to upload these for download so if people actually want these (which I'm not sure if anyone will) ... Please help me out and I can send the file for you to upload somewhere and then I can post install instructions. Also if anyone can tell me where the XML file is so I can get rid of those grey lines on my screen I would appreciate that too...

Just wondering, is this the Sprint Home plugin? I ask because my plugin has camera album, videos, camera, music and phone.
Do you have any for those?
Thanks.

The famous Co0kie Home tab can do this, you use edit home layout option. No need to edit anything just use supplied options

This is true...CHT lets you do this easily without having to manually change any registry keys =P
I am making myself a theme and was wondering if anybody knew which files changed these two things.

Sorry I can't be more help immediately but I can tell you the green widget moving box will be a .9.png and will probably be pretty small.
Obvious places to start would be in the 2 framework apk's but they may well be somewhere in system/app too. I'd look in anything widget related (downloader, updater, etc) and I'd look in rosie.apk too..
again, sorry thats just a couple shots in the dark but I'd like to know too. I'll poke around some tonight and see if I can find them
Yeah I figured it was going to be a .9 file, probably 1px but I just can not find them.

Well it would probably be a minimum of 9x9, and it looks like it has rounded corners so maybe more than that. Also, both of these things might not be pngs. Could be simple xml drawings.
I was thinking maybe xml also. are there any good tutorials on how to edit the xml's?

Use APK manager to decompile the apk, it'll output readable/editable xml files. I don't have the link on me but a quick search in the forums will bring it up.
AwardTour, have you recompiled a framework apk with AppManager yet? I tried but kept getting an error when it got to the manifest.
OP, here is a link to Apk_Manager_4.8. I can't offer any advice on editing xml, yet.. I just decompiled and saw a readable xml for the first time a couple days ago it was cool
apktool
http://code.google.com/p/android-apktool/
makes altering apks a snap.
I have looked around in the XML's and png and still can not find these for the life of me. I have a few more I can not find either. Any help on any of these would be greatly appreciated.
1- Progress bar
2- Calendar Item Color
3- Phone Highlight Color

whats the name of the png in the contacts.apk?
I do belive its more than one png. I dont know much about cm dialer but sense is in the htc.resources.apk under drawable hdpi you will find phone_keypad_background. then you have different dividers between the numbers and the fonts are in there own folder seperate from regular system fonts. Hope this helps
I don't use CM, but the dialer png's are in system\framework\framework-res.apk.

hehe big help you are.
With iPhones that is actually just stored in a .plist file which is the equivalent of our .xml files. For them you can simply open the plist file with a file browser if you're jailbroken, and type whatever you want for that and literally any other text thing. (Even things like when you're deleting an app, you can make the popup ask you if you want to "get rid of this" and the buttons can say "hell yeah" or "oops" and every other text that you ever see on an iphone can be changed.)
With us, it isn't that simple. I don't think. I haven't looked inside our xmls enough, the filesystem is mildly confusing after being with iPhones for so long.

So it is possible then? Well someone should tell me what file to change so i can do that

If i wasn't already looking into it I would have told you to use google. since I've already found some resources, here you go;

You decompile framework-res.apk with apktool, open the XML folder - edit the ERI.xml (change whatever values you want), recompile and push to your phone, reboot and it will say what you want. It also changes the Network listed in about phone. (read through my porting guide for more detail)
EX. I made mine say Cyanogen
