First lemme congratulate developers for their hard work and thank them for this site, it's really full of information of any kind regarding any software/hardware problems what-so-ever! Now enough with small talk and kissing the ass: guys I really need help!
As you can all see I'm noobiest of all noobs when it comes to Android so I'm asking for straight forward answer - what am I doing wrong?! Recently I bought Experia Miro and almost instantly realized there's much to learn but I've heard of that famous rooting and got to it like fly on the crap!
I checked almost every thread you guys have and used a simple method of SuperOneClick (step by step explained in thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682) and soon afterwards downloaded SDK (with update packages and all), but it seems that every time I get stuck at step #5 at which point I get that famous "waiting for device" line and then nothing!
So pretty please, with sugar and cherry on top, tell me what am I doing wrong?
forget that! just download "unlockroot" free version software!
run it and click root!
DONE
EDIT : i got the link for ya!

Great app but my rooting status says that bootloader unlock is NOT allowed :crying:
You wanted to root right? That you can do with that software. About bootloader unlocking, you should use the search function.

Not sure where to start from (as I said, I'm more then amateur in Android operations) thus I need some serious help cuzz it seems that my phone drastically declined in performance since rooting....
Even more so, I'd like to know a bit more about some processor overclocking, it seems that 800MHz and 512MB RAM just won't do the trick
Further more it says that it's not allowed to unlock bootloader and as far as I can see from post made by Sony Experia officials (http: //unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/instructions) I won't be able to flash any custom ROMs nor Kernels?
I think there might be some ways to unlock the bootloader with status no. I don't know how but you should search or ask some developer about that!
About overclocking, you need to install a custom kernel with overclock support, but there isn't any such stable kernel for Miro. Devs still working on it.
I would suggest you to stick with the lockee bootloaders custom roms if you want performance!
Currently im using the gamerz rom and the performance is GOOD!

Thx everyone for trying so hard to help me but great news is that Unlockroot was success, still searching for that ROM tho. So if u got any ideas where to find one that won't f'**k up with performance and is there any way to flash it onto device without unlocked bootloader

It did and I successfully rooted my device (with SuperSU and everything) but it seems I can't unloock bootloader (thus can't flash any ROM into the device).
I tried with SE Bootloader Unlocking (ht tp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1560613) but it's stuck at getting the unlock code (I'm not sure if it's even possibl to fastboot my device)...

I'm interested! I wish this phone had its own space here at xda.
Working on a rom dump just for that the problem is that I don't own the phone. So I get limited time with my good friends phone. Also I got a family so us getting together to do this stuff is kinda hard. If I get a rom dump I might be able to port cm7 to this model. I am no major developer I just tinker mainly. But would like to do more and his dart is a good start for doing more.
Looking to make recovery image as well

i have the samsung dart from tmobil which is this model phone and was curious about rooting it. what kind of benefits does rooting do for a phone? also does anyone have any guide on how to root this phone?
any help would be appreciated and thanks
Download the tool plug in USB cable to phone set phone to USB debugging in (settings >manage applications>development>USB debugging) run superoneclick as administrator.
Then click the root button. Easy as pie.

thanks for any help you can provide.

Well there is no custom roms as of now I am tring to get one together but without source code its not easy to do anything. But you can use an app called root explore to remove T mobile boatware. Also use any app that requires root.
Also root will be helpful when a recovery image is made for the dart. Then custom roms will be possible.

Almost every samsung device has an oc module that require only root to work properly.I wanna keep the stock kernel since it has no bugs and a better battery performance than almost every other kernel out there for play.So can any dev create an oc module and an app for play? Now that ppsspp is under development we could increase the potential of our device and run most games on 60fps, we just need that extra push:fingers-crossed:
Samsung and Sony (ericcson) devices are totally different beasts in terms on hacking.
Unfortunately for the PLAY at least you need to have an unlocked bootloader in order to overlock. On a Samsung device when you root the whole device is available (root and kernel)

You can go to Sony's unlock site and see if you can unlock your phone... what model is it? R800i,a,at,x?
Currently I believe only R800x, R800i are unlockable for free via Sony.
Follow the instructions on Sony's site to see if you can unlock.

So it seems there are oveclock modules for locked bootloaders and they are already available for xperia arc. I guess they could be ported on play but it propably needs an experienced dev to do the job. Maybe doomlord could do it ...creating a kernel form scratch should be harder than this.
Guys wat is this...????for discussing official updates and stocks things do we really need a forum for us????
Wat crappy locks will this phone has and let we break those bricks first then will build all....
Things that developed for xperia L so far....
No proper Cwm recovery like other phones
No proper tweaked custom rom
No cm roms
No easy flushable mods
Only experts will use customization and if other tries will landup in bootloader or some error which is because of we didn't have basic things for customization properly...
Still people are fighting for official updates and scolding Sony...
Come on guys we really have to work hard to get things....
Please devs working on this try to get the basic things first because only experts can flash and install things now and that is the situation here...
We need proper Cwm recovery and nandroid backup, flash method first (should be simple like on other phones)
Guys this is my suggestion and I worked hard and got basic things to work properly for grand quattro and those guys are enjoying my roms and ports, tweaks etc which is lack here since so many months....so considering basic things first will improve the development of Xl otherwise we will stuck here itself...
So please discuss the flaws so far wat we have and how to get those...
This thread is for guys who really put their ideas forward for development on xperia L...thanks for reading this and dont just read this.

Guys please don't make this thread to die and everybody should post their ideas here....and all words are important here and now for development of Xl....

From what i read,we need proper kernel for CM.Now devs wait for sony to release 4.2 kernel sources and then they will port it to CAF base kernel. After that we will have CM and all the development will start, like porting miui and ubuntu touch.
Don't know what you mean for CWM and what expert things are needed to flash some .zip's,but I'm using vengeance kernel and all work correct. If you mean CWM for locket bootloader, then you need to know that they try to make it,but there is an bug in kernel and CWM is unusable for LB.

Don't know for nandroid backup (but I'm sure its working),will test it for you tonight and report.
Sony phones don't have stock recovery and we need to include it in kernel ramdisk(or for LB in system). So all the custom kernels got CWM recovery buildin. And on your question "Yes" after you unlock your phone you just need to download custom kernel that you like and flash it on your phone. Then when the phone start you only need to press volume down key and you will go to CWM(you know what to do after that ).
How i see you are new to sony,so i will tell you how to flash a custom kernel.
You got two ways:
Manual with fastboot
And Flashtool(recommended for new users)
First way you will need fastboot drivers(there are some .zip's that include only fastboot drivers other way is to install all the SDK)
On windows you will need to open command prompt and need to navigate to fastboot drivers, like "cd C:\fastboot".You will need to paste boot.img in the folder with the drivers (C:\fastboot).Then you only need to tipe in command prompt this "fastboot flash boot boot.img" and in 2-3 seconds flash will finish.
Second way with flashtool is simpler and for that i recommend it.
Download and install flashtool, then go to C:\Flashtool\Drivert and install drivers that you need(if you dont have them). After that just open flashtool, click on the "thunder" icon and chose "Fastboot mode".Then click on "Select kernel to flash" find your kernel and click "ok".After 2-3 seconds you will see the log that tells you flash was Successful.

I think that this is against the XDA rules...
At least research a little before you start posting such rants. We do not have the level of devs that can produce the stuff on their own(like S2's devs wrote drivers from scratch after Samsung denied to go open source with Exynos), I didn't expect anything when buying Xperia L, I've been in big communities like Galaxy S2, owned it for a year. And we bought Sony's phone, we have to be reliant on them to provide sources, 4.2.2's first build is just out, I don't think Sony will release kernel sources until they release a bug-free build, and the Devs who're up for CM wouldn't want to develop CM10 just to please you for a week or two then start CM10.1 when Sony releases kernel sources.
And it's not hard to unlock a bootloader and install Kernels. This is my first sony device, I know how easy it is in Samsungs, and Samsung attracts a lot of customers in India, more than Sony, so the development has to be more, you can't compare the development of two devices. This is just a pathetic thread. It just shows that you *expect* the devs here to work for said phone, let me tell you, this is a free society, it's upto devs whether they want to work or not.
We have forums because there were numerous requests in the new forum for device thread (Or whatever it is called). You bought the phone, that is it. It isn't the responsibility of the devs here to provide you with the goods you want to see.
And please, write in proper coherent English, it's flashing not flushing. Sony's all devices have locked bootloader, should've researched before buying.

Then why don't you develop something. Stop complaining and do something. It will make us and you happy.
Btw. we have fully working CWM and custom rom. Don't get what is your problem.
Complaining and whining about what your phone does or does not do is NOT WHAT XDA IS ABOUT.

They found a way to get CWM on the phone, but not running custom ROM's with a locked bootloader, so if this could be adapted, it would be cool, but their work has nothing to do with this.

Hey.
The trick is really simple. We load cm ramdisk by patching any script which is executed by init. For example /system/bin/nfc_check.
However there's one catch. Since we can't change the core zimage, the stock zimage should be compatible with cm android version. 4.1.2 = cm10 in case of Xperia S. Thus it is safe to assume that cm10.1 can be booted on L. Only thing we've to worry about are the graphic drivers. Infact, Sony 8255 device kernels could run stock, cm9, cm10, cm10.1. Android sdk version was determined by busybox GREP and ramdisk was loaded accordingly.
I'll let you know when I chalk out my plans.

I'm ajesushn, I come from ginger (Galaxy Ace S5830i) and in my opinion JB look like very complicated to flash (compared to ginger).
At first, I would want to know which is the difference between official unlock bootloader method (Sony and FreeXperia method) and flashtool method??
At second, I'm very excited due to cyanogenmod 10 is available for nanhu but I have been searching a especific changelog for nanhu or the buglist in the FreeXperis Project website but I have not found it. I search this because I saw a GSM bug in some website but I didn't see the solution or if this bug has been fix yet. So, is it CM10 100% working (GSM too)?

Hey!
I come from Gingerbread as well (Micromax Bolt A27, super cheap phone), and I think JB is actually easier to use/flash than GB. But keep your opinion, don't copy mine if you don't want to.
1. The difference... I honestly see none. I've unlocked and relocked, once unlocked with Sony, once with Flashtool. Either time, I saw no difference. They might even be the same thing, with Flashtool doing nothing but automating the process.
2. Don't use FXP. FXP, while good development, is incomplete. Instead, use this ROM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2330638 (made by jjm34), and this kernel: https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B73-53ZX-WVRSGxDZFBjNURBdm8/edit (made by hsr0). This is the best CM10 you can get, the only bugs being:
a) Video recording doesn't work.
b) Compass/magnetometer doesn't work (nobody ever pointed this out, but it's true).
c) GSM randomly fails for some people.
d) In a couple of cases, Bluetooth had problems.
Note that it's a very, very low chance you'll get bugs c) and d), but I've got both, so I'm currently using stock.

Yep. I'm back at bug d and e -.-
No CyanogenMod for me, until CM11. I'm getting real tired. This is the second time in 2 weeks. If I have to flash the same ROM every week, I might as well stay stock.
@OP: You can always try CM10, but my advice is to stay stock until CM11 arrives, hot off the press with development still being active!
Have a nice day

Frankly speaking, if Sony wanted to update nanhu to KitKat, they'd have updated it to 4.2 and 4.3 too. But we're still at 4.1. Moral of the story: no, sorry. UltraGamerHD and hsr0 are working on CM11, but you'll have to wait a bit.

Ok. Flashtool method looks like nice but, need this program another program to work (as android SDK, for example) ??
And why say Sony that unlock bootloader may cause malfunctions and problems in devices?? To scare??

Before unlocking, root your device, and backup the TA partition. Now unlock, and whenever you want to relock, simply reflash the TA partition.
I don't think the SDK or anything else is needed, as I never installed it. However, I do always keep Minimal ADB and Fastboot on my laptop (it's basically ADB and Fastboot without downloading the whole SDK).
This last line you said confuses me. Who said unlocking causes malfunctions? Sony? If it's Sony, they're warning you that with an unlocked bootloader, you're likely to flash new system images, different kernels, stuff like that. Doing all that has a chance that you'll brick your phone. Of course, it doesn't usually happen, but there's always a chance. To restore, you can usually flash the stock FTF file, so that's no big problem.
Hi!
At "Original Android Development" thread there is a Tapioca CM11 thread but, this say "device maintaner: (...) E -> hsr0" so , is it a nanhu CM11 thread too? Is it a common CM11 thread if the title say "Tapioca"? I'm confused
