[Q] Images do not load fully - Asus Transformer TF700

Hi,
Forgive me if there was a thread about this already, but I looked as far as i can. This has been happening for a while and I about had it with this. To start of obviously I have an Asus Tf700. Its rooted and I have the Browser2Ram equivalent fix also in this forum [Q] Browser2Ram with JB 4.2.1 not working. I'm also using the stock browser.
Now to the problem. Around 80% of the time I open a webpage that has an image only it in, like imgur, it only loads as far as the screen can see. I would be content with hitting Ctrl+R but the damn thing will also only load what the screen can show leaving the rest blank when I scroll (see attached image). I have to go to the address bar and hit enter to have the page reload and that fixes it. I have to do it a lot and its driving me crazy. Also like 5% of webpages will sometimes load with all the text in one row with usually a black background (What I usually get on my PC when I'm fully utilizing the bandwidth with downloading) without any cause.
Is there any fix to this? I'd rather stay with the stock browser as it is almost perfect except for this.
Thanks.

It does this to me as well sometimes and as you said the only way to get it to show up it refreshing by entering the url again. I to have seen no fix to this but haven't attempted to really fix it.

I have the same issue. Has anyone else noticed that the back button doesn't really work in the stock browser either? Sometimes when you hit back it just reloads the page.

Actually, that is due to Adblock. You using Cromi/x? If so disable adblock, and the back button will work correctly.

go into settings --> apps.-->browser--> clear cache and reset data, reboot your device then try again without touching anything, see if the issue still there or not?

It's not much you can do with stock rom (still locked), many complained that it laggy and slow. I have tried stock rom before and it was running great for a about a week or so then it became laggy and stuttering. The only thing that you can do is do a clean install (reflash the rom). If that doesn't help then you need to think about unlock your device for custom rom/kernel.

Ultimately I will go for a custom rom, I'm just waiting for the waranty on this sucker to run out before I do so. What custom rom/kernel do you recommend or had the best performance with?
Thanks for your help again buhohitr.
If anyone manages to find a fix for this please do not hesistate to post it.

Reflashing the ROM replaces the contents of the /system partition with exactly the same file that were already there. Since the /system partition is read-only, reflashing the ROM is only useful for repairing 'accidents' with rooted programs, but not for fixing browser issues in a stock ROM. For that, you can only play with deleting things on /data.

did you upload the attachment using your stock browser? I can't manage to do this using stock browser.

Yes, I did. I also had some trouble at first but what I did was upload the image to www.imgur.com and then click on the image so that the url at the top ends with a .jpg (can also be done with the TF00). Then when you want to attach it to a post click on the paperclip icon and upload the image as a url (again make sure you enter the url that ends with the .jpg). I hope that helps.

Thanks i was hoping I could upload an image from my gallery, that would be so much better.

I was about to ask this question too. I am on stock jelly bean, unrooted.. But I have tried so many browsers (dolphin, boat, Firefox, stock, etc) and they all have this problem. Chrome and opera does not seem to have this problem. Does anyone seem to have an idea of what the problem is?

Possible Solution
Hi,
I was thinking of a possible solution this afternoon but unfortunately I don't know how to implement it. Clearing the cache of the broswer app seemed to help mitigate the problem but not eliminate it completely. Would it be possible to write something to increase the capacity of the broswer's cache, or have it clear on its own everytime it's run?
Thanks again!

User Agent not working in stock browser

Hi Everyone,
I am having an issue with the stock browser user agent not 'sticking.' If i select desktop or tablet I am still directed to the mobile sites. I know there are other browsers, but I really like using Chrome and don't want to switch. Any ideas as to what I can do to rememdy this?

It can be fixed if you are on a custom rom otherwise you are out of luck
This is issue with the latest update and I hope they fix it with the next update. ASUS are fast with the updates but at the cost of not testing them properly.
if u have rooted device , u can install the last revolver rom , its fix this problam
I'm also having this problem since the last update... which seems to have broken more than it fixed

Nothing you can do except wait for Asus to push a fix OTA or Root and use on of the custom ROM that already have the fixed.

I resolved mine on Dolphin for Pad by going to the bottom of the web page and selecting Preferences.
Once the page loads I then selected 'Desktop Version' followed by 'Get this'.
It will then reload the page and display all in Desktop mode.
unfortunately it happened to me too... its so annoying that I might restore my nandroid backup of the previous version of revolution HD. Are there any fixes for us rooted folks or do I have to install a specific ROM that has this fixed already?
Bump, anyone know a fix for rooted\custom roms, or should I revert back to the previous version of Rev HD?
Not only is the user agent wrong in Chrome... just by using multiple taps makes the browser just shut down without any notice or anything... it just shuts down.... and it's 100% do do that too...
Google... FIX IT!!!

How to.know if i recieved a bad TF300T

Hi, for some reason my Tf300 is behaving weird.
It becomes sluggish, crashes, doesn't respond to my touch.
Is there any diagnostics I can run?
It's weird, my galaxy note is a lot faster than this tablet, even with "only " a dual core.
Is this normal?
It happens more inside Dolphin Browser and when there is an update from the store happening, it freezes for seconds. Again, this is my fourth android device and none have had this issue... Even my kindle fire with cm7 was faster.
Should I restore to factory settings?
Install the latest Stock ROM and then factory reset and see if the problem is still there. Don't root or install custom recovery until you know its not a faulty unit.
How do I do that? Do I just check for updates? Any links?

If you are planning to ROOT your device you will need to wait for the OTA updates. See the Dev Forum for Rooting on .17 firmware.
If you are planning to unlock the bootloader you can apply the manual updates

You could use the ASUS Backup program but to keep a copy.
But I wouldnt restore anything because it could be an application causing the slow downs.
Have you click on the performance mode in the bottom right of the screen?

If you go to Settings, About and see the build version of .29 you are on the latest.
So you don't need to update.

Just kind of general fyi - the Intl one x apparently has scaling issues, it uses the same processor as us. If your rooted, try set CPU or something of the like, and bump up the minimum clock rate. Might eat battery, but its worth a try

This thread has me worried now...
I exchanged my 16G TF300 for a 32G the other day and noticed some apps were crashing that weren't before. Everything should be clean -- just installed apps from the market and setup email.
I'm a bit confused by the concept in general. Is it common that devices will ship with bad hardware that causes intermittent issues?
EDIT: I also updated the firmware to the latest, but that was also the case with my previous 16G so I'm not expecting that to be related.
CHeck out the app system tuner. You can monitor the effects of different processes, apps, etc, and find out what is causing these problems and whether theyre related to your build, prop , cpu, or if they sold you a lemon
If your apps are acting up wipe or cold boot the *****

How to restore Chrome bookmarks on JB Stock Browser (by sbdags)

I believe this deserves a dedicated thread in case people had missed. 100% of credit goes to sbdags, so if you are going to thank someone, its him.
Step 1: Download http://db.tt/OUJoooGU
This is google's chrome sync apk. I believe you don't even need to turn on Unknown developer to install this i.e. trusted apk. You definitely don't need root, or unlock.
Step 2: Install the apk
Step 3: Go to Setting > Account > Google and click your Gmail account
Step 4: You should now have Browser option added, which should be unchecked at this point. So simply check it.
Step 5: You may or may not need this step but I did not see bookmark immediately after step 4. So I clicked Autosync on the ASUS menu bar off, and back on.
If this helps, please hit thanks on a post below by sbdags.
Ooh my own thread thanks.
Seriously though all I did was extract this from a previous ics tibu backup.
Glad to offer some service to xda
If someone wants to add to custom Roms or host elsewhere feel free to do so.

Very strange. I've done this couple times and never had that issue. If your browser is truly gone, you have to find a browser.apk or perhaps better off factory reset as I am not sure why such strange behavior happened.
Wow! Thanks to both of you for putting this out here. Worked like a champ. Wish I would have seen it before I bought CMarks!

It is in system/app but wont let me install. This post totally screwed up my tablet. When I try to install the apk from system/app it tries to install it and then says "application not installed". This happened after I installed the file posted in this thread. My stock browser is completely gone
Even after factory reset, stock browser is gone completely. How can that be? Can someone please help. Is there any way to revert? This is the last thing I needed now.
I did vol down + pwr and wipe data and still, browser is gone. Someone pls help me.
Is anyone else having a problem getting the sync to stick across reboots? It'll re-sync just fine after a restart, but the account bookmarks won't show up until I do that. I have Browser2RAM installed, if that matters.
----- edit: and I'll leave the above in place for anyone else that experiences this problem -----
I fixed this by removing the Browser2RAM .apk, rebooting and making sure the synced data was still present, and then reinstalling. The sync has survived some adb shell reboots and power off/power on cycles.

Sorry I don't understand how this file has 'removed' your browser.apk. I have installed this personally on 2 infinities and now on a prime all upgraded to stock JB. There must be something else you have done. Many others have installed it and it works fine.
If browser.apk is in system/apps then it is still installed. Why are you trying to install it? Have you accidentally disabled it - check apps? Do you have titanium backup installed? If so check if it is frozen and also ask it to clear unwanted apps from dalvik cache.
Finally if you have a custom recovery installed then do a clean cache and clean dalvik cache and reboot. If not at least try a cold boot.

Are you running custom rom?
im running UKB custom rom and this does not work for me either and now my internet does sync anymore :?
Downloaded and applied the apk file, nothing out of the ordinary/expected happened.
Had a little confusion getting my chrome bookmarks into the stock browser. It appears that if you have a custom passphrase for chrome sync then sync to the native browser will not work. I deleted sync data on my chrome dashboard and then re-enabled it from my desktop machine without a passphrase. This got sync to the stock browser on the tf700 working.
Thank you. The apk worked perfectly fine in my Note 2 (N7102). Safe me the trouble to key in everything again.
I tried also on my Galaxy S4 (I9505), but it was not working! Hope you are going to work on a new version that will do the same magic!
Thank you.

[Q] Issue installing Cromi-X

Hey all,
I bought a new Tf700t today. I allowed it to update until the build was 4.2.1 / 10.6.1.14.8, then unlocked it using the Asus tool. No issues so far. I then installed goomanager and installed TWRP via the 'install open script' menu option. The file downloaded and stated the recovery was installed. Prior to this I ensured USB Debugging was enabled and also the allow unknown sources app installs.
I have the DEODEX install file on a removable microSD in the device.
I then proceeded to reboot to recovery via power + volume down and got the screen to select RCK with Volume Up, as per the Cromi-X install thread. But after that I just get the little android robot thing with a red exclamation, and it wont boot. I have tried repoeating all the above steps several times but I cant get this to work.
Can anyone see what Im doing wrong? I have read dozens of threads and am wary of straying too far from this path out of desperation, Id rather wait for some guidance.I did try to motorchopper app to root the device, as I feel that might be the step that is missing here.
ANy help dearly appreciated - thanks

Your device needed to be rooted in order to use goomanager to install TWRP 2.5.0.0. You can also use Fastboot to install TWRP or use Motochopper to get root before using Goomanager to install TWRP. Here is the link how to use Motochopper: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2228613

+1 this is true. You need to be rooted to use goo.
ok def seemed to be the rooting - got it working. I have two problems now that i hope can be sorted.
1. Upon first boot i was asked which launcher to use and chose go launcher hd. i want to revert to standard launcher but cant find how?
2. google chrome fails to install with error -24. It was ok on the stock rom. how does one even begin to troubleshoot these types of issues on a tablet? i ismtalled from play directly should i dl a file and do it via pc sync?
im not seeing the dratic improvement others have. scrolling pages still has that minor shudder but its early days so i still hold hope.

First, Congratulation to you that you got the hardest part done.
Second, 1. Go to your App Manager and open the launcher that you want to switch to. After you have launched, the popup will appear and select the Always button. It will set it to default. 2. I am sure what that error code is. If you are not using Data2SD, I would recommend that you need to wipe Dalvik, Cache, and data in your recovery mode and reboot it with a following of a cold boot. Be careful when you wipe data, you will loose all data and apps. I would recommend you to do a backup in TWRP. It is odd. I saw a big difference in performance when switched from Stock to Cromi X. Sbdags did a tremendous job on this Rom. For the internet, you need to tweak the network a little bit more to load and download faster. You will get more improvement in performance if you had Fsync off or Data2SD.

Brand new TF700 - unlocked and modded on day 1... You don't strike me as the patient type
Did you let the new rom settle after you flashed? I bet you jumped right in, didn't you?
Which Kernel did you flash?
Which dpi?
Did you disable fsync in the Aroma installer?
Try clearing cache and data for the Play Store in Apps and download Chrome again. Although - Chrome is probably the slowest of all browsers on CROMi-X, with the stock browser for me being the fastest.

haha well you got me there! I modded my brand new car within a month also, cant help it when things come from factory less than optimised
However, I pained over the choice of tablet for almost a month. I've only ever used the girlfriends iPAD and I find apple stuff INFURIATING to use, but admittedly its smooth. The TF700 has so many people complaining about its performance I would never have bought it if not for its flexibility and of course the existence of this mod.
In any case, I didn't let the ROM settle. I'm sure its documented but what does that even mean? Are there a bunch of background processes that need to finish running before its best to use? That would make sense I guess.
Not sure what kernel? - I followed the steps exactly in the Cromi-X main thread here - 4.6.6 DEODEX version.
dpi - thats the font/icon selection during install? If so I chose the recommended TF700 medium-small.
I enabled FSYNC in the installer- it was unchecked by default.
I will try those things once the full charge completes. Thanks for the tips. I use chrome on all my other devices so I want to continue with the convenience but I might take a look at the others given most now support sync in one form or another.

dpi - thats the font/icon selection during install? If so I chose the recommended TF700 medium-small.
I enabled FSYNC in the installer- it was unchecked by default.
I will try those things once the full charge completes. Thanks for the tips. I use chrome on all my other devices so I want to continue with the convenience but I might take a look at the others given most now support sync in one form or another.

If you left it at default selection you are probably running _that's kernel, which is a good one. To find out check under About Tablet.
fsync is enabled by default in the stock rom and also in CROMi-X. You had one screen where you had to check a box that you had read the warning about disabling fsync. On the next screen, among a bunch of options, you could disable fsync by checking the box next to it. If you checked it, you have fsync disabled - which is a good choice IMO. Never had a problem because of that.
BTW, if you experience lag, read the last - jeez, about 30 posts - in the CROMi-X thread. Seems sbdags was a little aggressive with some settings in 4.6.6 which caused major lag for quite a few people. He posted a fix or patch for it until he's back from vacation.
I'm still on 4.6.5 and will skip 4.6.6 for that reason. So if you have lag, either apply the patch or flash 4.6.5.

[Q] Infinity not loading images in browsers

DISCLAIMER: Yes, I searched. No, I didn't find an answer or a fix.
I flashed Cleanrom 4.1.1 Inheritance on my Asus Infinity. All of a sudden, the only browser that loads any images at all is Chrome, and to be honest, the mobile Chrome sucks. I tried Boat Browser, Maxthon, and the stock browser and none of them will load images from the web, just displaying a small blue box with a question mark in it. I have tried clearing cache, and uninstalling Flash Player. No luck.
What is wrong and how can I fix it?
Stock browser: Settings -> Bandwith management -> [x] Load images
Or maybe your ad blocking is too aggressive. Did you install cross breeder? It uses an alternate DNS solution that can cause the issue you describe.

Yes, I did. If I install CHROMi X over 3.x I shouldn't have any problems if I don't install the cross breeder during the ROM installation?
Thanks for the reply.

Why would Chrome be working but none of the other browsers work though?

It didn't work. I have images enabled. This tablet has caused me more trouble than any other android device I've ever used. Starting to get very frustrated.
EDIT: I flashed your stock 4.2.1, wiped system and data, factory reset, cleared cache and dal, reflashed it, and rebooted, and STILL the images wouldn't load. My S4 loads everything fine, so it's not my network. I guess I'll have to deal with it because it seems to be a problem with Android.
