[Q] Samsung Wave Y and chaton - Unable to chat with another user - General Questions and Answers

Hi,
I tried the search button but wasn't able to find anything similiar to my problem, and google isn't of any help aswell, so I'm trying to ask around and a friend of mine gave me the link of your forum, saying you've got a great knowledge about.
I'm an (unhappy) owner of the Samsung Wave Y, which since the bada 2.0 OS doesn't offer much for communication indeed.
Since Skype, whatsapp aren't working, and also the FB app has lot of troubles, me and my bf adapted to ChatOn.
He owns a Galaxy SIII and since we're both Samsung users, we expected a smooth process, or at least we assumed...
After the activation of ChatOn mobile with the sms I was able to search my contact list for persons who did the same (this months ago)...
I found and added a friend, while the app said my bf wasn't a ChatOn user... My bf on only has me as ChatOn user and he could add me with no problems at all...
So I just added him manually by typing his phone number, but even like this we weren't able to chat: he received only some of my message while I didn't receive any answer from him... We were both syncronized and we both own the last version of the app, but I'm Bada 2.0 while he is android...
I read of somebody having similiar troubles in some 2011 threads, while seeking for a solution, I also read that with the official release of the Bada version of ChatOn this bug would've been corrected.. This official version has been released around january 2013 (and I remember the update, but I had already subscribed and added my friend) but I'm still stuck... Actually I think it was working better before...
Sorry for the long question and for my bad english,
Could you please help me out to make this work?
Thanks in advance,
Regards

Meanwhile, try using it with another Bada user and another android user, to see if the issue lies with the app or the platform.

I need to ask around, hoping to know somebody good for my case...
But I don't think just anybody experiences this, because I didn't find many topics around on the web about this issue, I even read of someone who had them in past and after the last update the problems were gone.. It seems like the opposite happened to me...
I'll let you know..

I've just received an answer from the customer support, they said to be aware of this problem and that they're already working on it..
They didn't suggest any solution, so either chaton will be working on his own randomly, or I have to wait till the new update (which will contain the fix hopefully). hoping will be released as soon as possible...
Seems like I'm again abandoned to my fate.. XD
Thanks for the support anyway..

communicate with samsung...

http://www.xda-developers.com/communicate-with-samsung/ samsung and xda's new way to ask questions check it out see if we finally get answers
edit: By the way you should check out http://twitter.com/supercurio if i could have anyone represent me right now i believe he would be the best
so, we are only allowed to ask questions we should already know the answer to, or could look up via search engine? C'mon, really?...really?
I dont know just providing the link saw it on samsung johns twitter we will see what questions actually get answerd
does anyone know if xda sells out cheap, or if samsung had to really wine and dine first?
at any rate I say boycott the new "communication" attempt like a plague

i for one am going to compiled all the questions i have about what doesnt work with my captivate and my gf vibrant and send it and probably will never hear back on those issues and still be angry with samsung im about 200% sure this is mine and her last samsung device but answers could lower that to about 150%
hmmmm ...... I thought xda wasn't corporate.....

I did not open this thread to bash anyone just to inform people of samsungs next step so please leave that out
Example of good questions:
What’s the difference between Super AMOLED Plus and Super AMOLED?
Why did Samsung name its flagship phones “Galaxy S” … what is the significance of “S”?
What determines whether Samsung upgrades a phone to the next version of Android?

i hope whoever created this list of "good questions"
didn't do so with a straight face.....doesn't samsung have their own support site for basic knowledge/softball question of that nature?
Not trying to flame but that seems pointless.
PS - i think it is completely asinine to say that "where is froyo" is a bad question or off limits when along with questions about flawed gps or random shutdowns is probably the most pertinent and pressing question especially given that it had been promised by the end of 2010....my 2 cents.
this is useless. its a big pr stunt. all of the questions that are "good questions" are the ones we dont need someone inside samsung to tell us. the "bad questions" are the only ones we want answered. yet again, samsung fails.
Just sent a question, a good question by their standards. Will post back when and if I get a reply.
step one: google "samsungjohn" or "samsung john"
step two: only submit questions about those questionable results...

i asked my good and my bad questions and probably wont get any answers but might as well ask them it took 2 sec and i was done who knows what will happen
Yup, all the questions I have would be in the bad category.....figures.
Pathetic. I'm ashamed that xda has become Samsung's propaganda machine. Tell Samsung to answer the questions we have about gps and froyo. No one cares about the S in Galaxy S. That's a horrible question.
Take the page down tell Samsung to do their own advertising.
NO ONE RESPECTS SELLOUTS.

i was taught in school that there are no bad questions just bad answers. Is no answer a bad answer?
they should give us a more comprehensive list of acceptable questions.
and since they will only answer acceptable questions and generally know what the acceptable questions are why don't they just release it as a FAQ.
the only part of that form that makes any sense if the developer feedback.
my questions
"Thank you for opening a line of communication to your user base. My questions are,
Does Samsung see a value in the work that the devs have done on Xda?
Does this value help or hurt our chances of future updates to the phones?
Now that multiple threads by SamsungJohn have been open and closed due to obvious and just flaming (flaming could have been toned down), Does samsung actually see the anger of its customer base and are they willing to actually do anything about it. This site has a lot more pull when it comes to word of mouth than what they perceive.
why are you only wanting non technical questions that we can get the answers to by reading our manuals, or searching on the internet"
Hopefully i won't get flagged/banned or whatever.
I'm a full time software developer. If I told my boss that asking when my next software version will be released was a bad question I would be fired.
Samsung - You're fired.

Shouldn't be a new rule. You only have 6 posts. 10 posts are required in order to post in development threads.

Shouldnt say new I guess. I havent messed on here much since i installed jellybelly on my phone so id say it was prob a little over a year ago. Remembering joining than though just to ask something having to do with the whole unlocking, etc of the gnex. (Didnt know much of anything about android at that point as far as customizing)
Im not sure this is a good way to seperate the bs from beneficial interjection. I found issues with my rom and a revision is coming out very shortly. I havent been able to up channel my concerns because I'm forced to comment on nonsense in order to earn the right to contribute.

This is a great place to learn something.
This thread should be locked..

Big thank you XDA & members!!

I thought about this today.
personally I am an IT worker so I normally get a lot of friends \ family asking me to fix stuff for them.
With Android however & this forum - its taken it to a new high.
Because of this great place I have learnt a ton and also helped out a lot of people with phones and tabs.
SGS i9000, GT-P1000, SGS 2, Droid Razr, Motorola Xooms, SGS3, Acer tabs... just to name a few.
In fact these days when I am asked about phones, I don't recommend them unless this forum and its members are behind it.
I found it also helps to make devices easier to use, case in point my father can work a droid phone or tab no prob's, but he'd throw an ipad\phone before working it out.
So on behalf of all those I have helped and have no idea about it all and from myself.
THANK YOU XDA, Develpoers & Members!!!!!
Your welcome mate!
Sorry to say this, but I think your post should be in this thread:

iconadserve virus

Hey guys a friend of mine has a Samsung galaxy S7 edge, he has been upgrading the last 3-4 years his Galaxy series, and every time he gets a new phone he gets these browser short cuts that auto install. When you click them it takes you to iconadserve.com and then redirects you to book flights website. No matter how many times you wipe etc it keeps auto install these shortcuts. Has anyone heard of those and can help me get rid of them? Thanks
Pictures should be attached thanks

I've never, fortunately, had this issue myself but, after a quick search, it looks like the following link may have some helpful information to get rid of this.

Good Luck!
