[Q] AOKP ROM MR1 Build 5 RAM issue??? - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

[before I start don't criticize me on how the forums work I'm still new friendly tips on this would be helpful]
So, I have an HTC One X [Evita] Running AOKP and not running any apps
And my ram is 462(used) 206(Not used). Makes the ROM a bit sluggish and I really want a fix. Either the milestone1 update if it fixes it or some tips??
Thanks so much,XDA!

Its not sluggish. But if you want, download an app called lag fix. Will fix all of your problems.

I remember reading about a memory leak issue with some AOSP/AOKP ROM versions. I'd check with the DEV to see if this is the case. I'm not a fan of AOKP myself so I don't run it.

Just search for lag fix in the play store, it's easy to find.

[Q] CM9 nighty and CM10 ??

I've noticed on the CM website there are nighty builds for CM9 being released relatively frequently. My question is that are these more advance than the stable CM9 releases? Or are they beta builds for CM10? If so, why aren't they labelled CM10?
That's because there not cm10. They haven't even started to release one build so they won't be.
Nightlies are more stable then the stable build
Your so called stable build is just a label. It's just another nightly

Thanks for the response. Why do u think they are just labels rather than proper stable releases?
Is there a change log anywhere so u can see what new features have been added or fixed?

Why don't you just use one of the custom cm9 roms there better
Sent from my Sensation using Tapatalk 2
Two reasons I think. Both of which make me sound like a wimp by the way.
I don't want to venture away too much from aosp and I don't have the technical knowledge to see what the main differences are with the variations.
Also because I've only installed two roms, both have been CM ones and I'm too cautious to try something new!

There's like nothing wrong in trying in the other roms. If something is wrong with them then just restore your backup
Sent from my Sensation using Tapatalk 2
True. I just don't like having to install all apps again etc. Plus all of my apps are installed on my SD card (the ones that allow anyway) so I hate having to format my SD card to get rid of all unnecessary stuff (I'm ocd about that!).
I will start being more experimental I think though. Its the only way forward!

ROM Toolbox Pro or Titanium Backup works pretty well in restoring non-system apps across ROM changes but not sure how it handles apps moved to SD card.
If you restore ROM from nandroid backup, it will be like nothing has really changed. It's worth trying different ROM's given different optimized ROM's and even different kernels are out there. Or Bruce CM10 which is pretty awesome.
I've heard nothing but good things about Bruce's ROM so I think I may head over there. One of the things stopping me is that there are so many updates being released for it all of the time I feel I should keep waiting!
Thanks for all of the advice guys.

Updates are awesome. I could hardly notice difference between updates but I like keeping my phone updated.
Best thing you can just flash new update on top of whatever you have no need to wipe even cache. Totally effortless.
If it fails, flash previous ROM.
I wasn't aware it was that easy. Thanks for the information. When I get time I am definitely gonna give it a go.

I have one more question please.
So if I want to update my current version of CM9, which is the most recent stable version, to the last version released, which is a nightly build - do I have to wipe everything (phone, cache etc) or do I just flash the rom and that's it?
Many thanks once more.

Wipe Dalvik and Cache only, then install. (You might not even have to do that, but I don't know if the CM9 install scripts wipe those for you.)
When it boots everything will be just like you left it.
That's ONLY if you are upgrading to the newest Cm9 build.
If you want to go to any CM10 builds do a full wipe first.
If everything is going to be as I left it (apps, settings etc) I will try the latest cm9 before I try cm10.
Many thanks.

Any free developers willing to take over this ROM?

I am loving this paranoidkangdroid ROM and I wish there was another developer working on it. The current one is busy with other roms and whatnot so would really appreciate someone helping out and fixing some bugs. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2028248
and for those looking for new roms try it out. Only major problem right now is cant answer phone call with stock app due to dpi issue. I just downloaded an app from app store only to answer calls. Other than that, I think I would run this for a while. luv it.
You could run pacman and avoid that issue. It has all the kangs mixed.

Navigation crashing on jellybean roms

Is this something that can't be fixed? I've tried different roms, complete wipes, everything.
Sent from my HTC One X using xda app-developers app
Its actually a problem with jelly bean.
I've looked for a fix but couldn't find any we just have to wait until Google fixes the app
There is a quick fix all you have to do is click on the compass on the top left hand corner, it will change the navigation from 3D to 2D but locked facing north
Its not the best solution but at least it stops from freezing all the time
I hope I helped

It seems that the problem is only on some phones. People claim it us a Google issue but I doubt it. The reports I have seen seem to be on Sense. However I have been unable to determine for sure whether it is only Sense custom ROMs or also stock.
It seems to be a google issue for many phones on 4.1.1. It is a GS issue that they have to fix in the app itself.

I'm so happy for you, but your experience is worthless considering the number who have reported problems.
No need to be rude. Most of the issues happen during the set up of the Rom. You have to allow apps access. Just because he or myself have never experienced this issue doesn't mean we are open for attack.

No, his post is not worthless. I too have never had this issue across a few different JB ROMs. So yes, its a known issue, but its not "just because its JB" like some have been claiming. There is something else going on besides just being on JB (and "waiting" for Google to fix it), and that was kitten's point.

Waze seems to do the trick, but if you trying different ROMs, be sure to delete the waze folder on your SDCard in between installs or it will FC constantly for some reason.
I'm having the same issue with Google Nav not working. Currently using CarbonROM 1.7 4.2.2 AOSP. Phone is S-OFF on 2.14 hboot. Can't wait until someone figures this one out.

4.3 for G2X?

Hey guys,
Soo... JB 4.3 is out, and seems quite interesting and worth upgrading to. So, I have a few questions:
1) Will it be worth for the devs to work on 4.3 for the P999?
2) Do you think there will be any roms for it?
3) If no, do you think that the development for the P999 is dead?
First, let me ask you a question. Do you know why we don't have a proper JB ROM yet, or even ICS ROM...?

I'm daily driving a hackfest, and I love it. I'm sure there's many others who can live with a hackfest too.
If there was a 4.3 ROM I'd think it'd be apolkosnik to release it but with a broken radio like the current 4.2.2 ROM out.
There isn't even a hackfest version of android 4.2. There is no complete source to any hackfest for this device anymore I believe. Development is dead unless Maz ends up getting something released if he's still working on anything outside his kernels in my opinion

The video freezes up every few seconds while recording and then continues to record again and then repeats the cycle in the playback. The SD and Internal SD are reversed, so if you have a larger SD it makes it seem like you have a large internal memory. Also the directory name for the "external" (now your 5gb internal) has changed to /mnt/emmc

all the developers at the cm 10.1 Q&A forum (For helping me to understand what was wrong with my edits and my phone.)
And full credit to the cyanogenmod team
This ROM is based on Cyanogenmod 10.1.3 and is completely stable. the rom itself is just a repack of cyanogenmod with xsposed framework and an aosp toolbox.
I have removed most of the CM apps including the trebucket launcher (which I have replaced with nova launcher). If you want some of these apps let me know and I will try and put them back in.
do what you want with this ROM. there are not a lot of big edits so you can edit the way you want.
If ROM fails
check your HBOOT. (this ROM needs at least HBOOT 2.14)
check your recovery. this will work with TWRP and should work with CWM.
If none of these aply, post it on the thread and I will try my best to get back to you
If you have sugestions please let me know. I am mostly free on weekends and some week nights.

Hi
I am sorry but the ROM I guess can only be downloaded on a computer. tryed with my device and it didn't download corectly. so download it on your computer and then mount your sd card on your computer and move the file. then flash in recovery
I just need to ask, how safe is this to flash? I'm only asking because in a conversation I had with you a couple of days ago you didn't know some of the really basic things to do with Android.
Also, this is basically a zipdev right? You've just removed some apps and renamed the ROM? Are there any real changes or optimizations from the base?

Ok. You probably need to remove the Google apps that are built in though. There's a reason they're not included in any other aosp ROM, Google basically issued a Cease & Desist Order against CyanogenMod (sued them) because they're not licensed to distribute the apps. Whether this applies to smaller devs I'm not sure, but you'll notice that no aosp ROMs have Google apps built in, they're always a separate package. Just don't want to see you get in any trouble, better to be safe than sorry I think.

Zipdeving is altering a ROM by extracting the zip, adding/removing apps, and re-zipping it to be packaged as a new ROM, without any actual development done in the process.
