Beats headphones - Nexus 4 Accessories

Hiya folks,
I am looking at a nice pair of beats head phones for my n4, prices are rather steep but I have found a site and I think perhaps the prices are to good to be true? Has anyone used or know if its legit?
HTML:
http://beatsbydrdreonlineshop.co.uk/about_us.html
thanks all

I'm going to go ahead and say that these are fake. If you scroll all the way down to the page, it has icons of everything that it accepts, and its accreditation. However, if you hover over them, they are not clickable. This is one of the easiest ways to tell a site is a scam.
However, I do not live in the UK and maybe they do things differently. If anyone else can chime in, I'm sure OP will appreciate it.

I would not buy headphones from beats. They're more for fashion rather than good audio quality. I'd recommend a pair of sennheiser or audio technicas if you're serious about having good sound quality.

Even the Sol Republic JAX or AMPS are cheaper and better. Good sound for the price range. I have a pair of the AMPS HD and love them to death when mowing the lawn. The cord doesn't tangle and long enough for me to put my phone in my pocket.

You can possibly find them cheaper online at Amazon or Ebay. And less likely to be counterfeit IMO.

Don't buy it from there.
Find someone who works at best buy and get 60%off. I used to work there and get everyone beats but I left.

Best buy don't exist in the uk any more but don't go for beats. If you must, go for somewhere like Amazon / PC world / hmv / John lewis / play / dabs...

First of all, their domain is registered to an individual in China... so it is almost a given they are fake.
Second, beats is high priced mediocrity posing as studio quality headphones with "celebs" Dr Dre and Jimmy Iovine lending their names for a big cut of the pie. Ever been to a Planet Hollywood? How was the food? Just 'cause their in the business doesn't mean they know how to design high quality audio gear (most artists I worked with years ago were clueless when it came to audio gear). Consider AKG, Sennheiser, Shure, and others that have been designing studio gear for decades.
Just my 2¢, but I do have considerable experience in this dept, plus I stayed at a Holiday Inn last week.

Audio Technica should also be considered.

No love for Grado up in this beast?!
How about Westone?

These sound better than my beats and 1/10th the price!

I get pretty good sound out of these:
http://www.skullcandy.com/shop/titan-chrome-black
For earbuds, they are pretty nice...

Shure SE215 for earbuds, they are excellent. They are better than my old Klipsch S4i IIs. I don't use headphones, so I have no input there.

If you're looking for headphones with great style, I would suggest Sol Republics. They are less than beats, I think they look better, the headband is nearly impossible to break, and I think they sound better than beats as well!

All of these are great links and all, but maybe the OP wants the Beats in particular? Maybe for style, showing off, whatever his reasons may be...
But OP, I doubt that site is real.

The fake beats probably sound better than real beats anyways...

For in ear try the soundmagic e10's, I bought them looking to replace a $100 pair of Sony iem's.....They sound better than my s4s and the sonys they were replacing lol AND they were WAY cheaper. For over-the-ear you can't go wrong with audio-technica or grado. The at-m50 and the grado sr80i are at $100 or less and blow beats out of the water, that is if you are looking for sound and not fashion.
For a few extra bucks get yourself a DAC, a fiio e5 or e6 and your in for a real treat.

Fakes but, since the only reason people buy beats (or skullcandy/sol republic/etc.) is for the looks who cares? Buy and enjoy your mediocre earphones/headphones.

I got the 299$ beats and they sound wonderful..make everything loud and crisp. I don't know much about who and what brand I should have got as these were a gift. But have been an excellent one.

Stay away from that site and also stay away beats, skullcandy and Sol!
Shure, Westone, Fischer, sound magic, audio-technica or my personal budget pick, the Hippo VB.

I don't get the SOL hate. They make solid headphones for pretty cheap. Their most expensive is the Master Tracks and they are $100 less than Studios and sound so much better.
Hell even skullcandies $15 in-ears sound decent and their more expensive Aviators, et all. sound pretty decent.
Beats overall don't sound awful to most people, but you certainly pay more than they're worth. If you like the heavy bass, might I suggest the Klipsch Image II. $150 for the wired version and they bump hard.

Headphone Upgrade

Hi guys,
I need a headphone upgrade, stock ones died on one channel and arn't top notch.
I'm thinking of procuring some Sennheiser cx 880s. Good price at the mo.
Do you think these would be a psitive addition?

Personally I'd go for Samsung, I believe they are the best for audio/visual on the market.
Klipsch S4A. I'm trying to find one.
You will NOT get more bang for your buck than these. I'd have been happy had they cost me twice the asking price here. They out-perform my £60 Senheissers easily.
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/25661-a-Jays-One-Heavy-Bass-Impact-Earphones-Reviews.htm
Unfortunately I lost them, so using some Xmas cash I bought the top model in the range. They cost twice as much, but are about 5 times as good!!!! With the right EQ settings on PowerAmp (the best player IMO) these things are simply outstanding.
http://www.mobilefun.co.uk/a-jays-three-heavy-bass-impact-earphones-p25667.htm
Both also have the best cable I've ever encountered. Almost impossible to tangle. Just take them out your pocket, give them a shake, and they just unravel. No messing. Very very well made too. The box they come in could be used as a time capsule. The most over-packaged product I've ever bought!
You wont be disappointed with either of these.
P.S. If anyone buys these, please time how long it takes you to get the packaging open and post your results back here!

Still love skullcandy,
I have the lowrider headphones and the ink'd earphones.
Previous version of lowrider broke quite some times, but it had great support, every time I got a new one. Never had problems now with the newer version of the Lowrider. Also never had problems with the ink'd.
Next headphone i'll buy will be the Beats Audio Solo HD

I have to disagree, i think skull candy are the epitome of style of product.
They were the worse headphones i have ever brought because of the really low audio quality of both highs and low frequencies, but they were full ear headphones and not ear phones.
had 2 types of skull candy ones and they were alright but nothing special and the ones that go over your head actually snapped.
After a new pair and will give them ajay threes a try I think, decent reviews and a good price at £30
Seriously LOL at the Samsung and Skullcandy comments.

Edit in before the real jokes come out and someone recommends getting a pair of beats hahahahahaha.
Have a look at the Razer Moray in ear earphones, they come with a little carry case, different bud sizes, and an airplane adapter. The sound on them is pretty good too. However i could be recommending them, for the simple fact that im a Razer fanboy

This, this and this. I recently bought the Fours and it's the best pair of in-ear headphones I've ever owned.
Definitely true about PowerAMP, I even combined it with Volume+ set to Beats Emulation, so happy.
Thanks for recommending the a-Jays, I bought my Fours for £20 off e-Bay full with the over-kill packaging.

That app might work but it's appears to be mainly for the one button headphones while the Fours have 3, yet it seems only one works in Android.
Haven't tried CyanogenMod yet, it might fare better there.

I already bought Monster Ibeat beats audio by Dr.Dre original that came with the hTC Rezound and Sensation with control talk etc. Just waiting for it to arrive
First tip: Different people have different taste. 250 can buy you some really good sounding products. I would recommend HeadRoom because they provide a lot of guidance based on price and taste and even provide you with cool frequency response graphs. Really worth doing a few hours of research over if you're spending that kind of money. At that price, good brands to keep your eyes open for: Sennheiser, AKG, Beyerdynamic, Denon, and Audio Technica.
Head-fi is a good resource but ABSOLUTELY chock full of opinion and voodoo. First thing to remember is that your taste might not equal someone elses, though on Head-Fi, nearly everything is taken as fact.
Final tip: Don't buy it if it has someone's name on it. This includes Beats, Soul, etc. It's not that they're bad per se, just overpriced. You can buy some hard hitting heavy bass headphones like Beats for much less. For example, the Audio Technica ATH-M50 is 150 on amazon and have a very similar sound to the 300 dollar Beats over ears.
sassafras
The ATH-M50 / M50s are great headphones. I would take those over any pair of beats.
The DJ headphones I use are Sennheiser HD25IIs. A bit more pricey, but great on ear headphones with good isolation while being light weight.
For long periods of use, I use my Audio Technica ATH-AD700s.
For IEMs I just Klipsch S4s
If you want to buy a pair of headphones. Let me know what your budget is and what kind of headphones you want (IEMs, on ear, over ear) and I can find the best pair.
Another tip- never buy a headset. ever.
If you want something good looking like the Beats with quality sound, wait for the P3s : http://www.bowers-wilkins.com/Headphones/Headphones/P3/explore.html
If they're anything like the P5s, they're going to be amazing.

They truely, truely are. How can anyone favor beats? They're disgustingly bass heavy.
I got a pair of urbeats headphones free through work. Yes, they're quite bass heavy, but the sound isn't terrible.
What I'm really looking for is something with an in-line mic and controls. I really like the 3 buttons on the remote to pause, skip, and rewind.
Are there any other headphones on the market besides the beats that have a mic and the 3 button controls? I wanted to get the Klipsch S4a's, but they only have the single button control.
Is there anything (earbuds) in the $50-ish range that are any better than what the phones come with? I haven't opened the ones the HTC came with, but they look like the others.... a joke.
I only *rarely* use headphones/earbuds so I don't need a $250pr. I've tried Beats, thought they were very comfortable.
Also, if I could get a helmet on over them, that would be a plus.
I have two pair of breasts. Over the ear and in ear and I love them both. It's different for everyone though

Help me decide on headphones..

I know there are a couple threads throughout xda about which are the best headphones but I figured I'd ask in my own thread cuz my priorities may be different than others. If this should be in Q&A, the mods can you please move it?
I had a pair of ibeats headphones that came with the Rezound. They broke so Verizon sent me a brand new pair in the retail box that you would get at Target or Best Buy. There are a little bit different than the first ones. Anyways, the right ear bud is losing its sound compared to the left one so I need a new pair.
I LOVED the sound from beats. I listen to a lot of rap so I like deep bass. Are there any headphones that sound just as nice or better at a lower or equal price? I really want the studios or pros but it's too much for me to spend right now.
I've seen people mention the s4i's. Do they have deep bass like the beats?
P. S. I also didn't care for the way the ibeats felt in my ear. They weren't comfortable. So something with a nice fit for long periods would be a plus.

There's nothing that comes to mind that compares to the bass from Beats by Dre.
I personally don't have the S4i because those are meant to be used with Apple devices. I do on the other hand have the S4a and they don't fill the bottom end as much for songs with deep bass, but they are crisp and clear. Very evenly toned.
If you want good bass, check out the IE monitors that I mentioned in the other thread.

Audio Technica ATH-M50's like these http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ..._ATH_M50_Professional_Closed_Back_Studio.html the Sony MDR-V6 or a pair of Sennhaiser HD 280 PROs, HD 448s or higher, depending on your budget.
Edit: Since you want bass, I know the 280 PROs are considered to be pretty deep sounding but I don't know about the rest. I have HD 448s and love them but I like flat EQ, so they probably aren't for you. You should read reviews on audiophile sites to see which model matches your preferences.
I bought some beats tour headphones a while back and I am unhappy with how things ended up. My wife couldn't find her gym headphones so she grabbed my beats and now she won't give them back or share them with me. Always connected to her phone. I could justify buying another pair but don't want to drop the money on a second pair at the moment. Great headphones though.

The ATH M50's are great as well. Very good entry level audiophile headphones. If you're budget allows it, the DT 770 Pro 80 Ohms are also really good.

i bought sol republics, used my gf's best buy discount and got em for 50 dollars and they are same quality as beats, love em! only thing i dont like about them is i cant wear em for a few hours or they begin hurting the top of my ears. but they retail for 120 dollars. best purchase i bought in a while! they also sound amazing on the one xl, beats is still active and gives it that amazing deep bass!
You get better sound out of cans. Are you fixed on earbuds or will over the ear do? You mentioned studios, so I assume you're ok with over the ear. Because the driver is bigger, the sound is much richer dollar-for-dollar.
Glaucoma Cat had some solid recommendations. If you're looking to spend a little less, the zx-600's are pretty good. You can find them on sale for around 50.
Can anyone recommend earphones with a good handsfree system that works? I tried the S4a, and while it sounds great, I hate the one button control. Is there a three button control earphone that allows me to play/pause, change tracks, vol. up/down, answer calls and finish them too? And is there one that can allow me to launch google voice actions?

Headphones

I'm looking for a set of headphones within the $100-$150 range. I have looked around many forum discussions and finally decided on getting the Audio-Technica ATH-M50. However before I buy it I'm having second thoughts.. I have an HTC One S with beats integrated (obviously) and listen to mainly rap/hip hop, but occasionally rock also. I was wondering whether if I should go with the beats used or go with the M50? M50 I heard was better but us more focused on the complete sound of the song and more suited for songs other than rap/hip hop. Whereas I like my bass relatively heavy in my songs. Which beats provide since that's kinda their selling point. Also does beats for my phone have any distinctly different effect on the two headphones or does it just boost the bass of the song? Also I heard that Beats have noise-canceling technology which sounds really appealing, but my question to you is the feature worth over the M50's? Any thoughts are appreciated
Sent from my HTC VLE_U using xda app-developers app
I have the in-ear Monster iSport immersion headphones and I am more than happy with the sound, really pro sound from in ear headphones, I was surprised with the bass they produce. Music is crisp and loud even in max volume, no need to use it over 70-80% though since the noice cancellation is adequate.
Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
The M50's are a very nice set and would certainly sound better than Beats, but you might consider where you are going to be listening. They are a set more geared toward home/studio. While the closed headphones are great for being able to ignore the outside noises of everyday travel and not disturb the people around you with your music, you might consider the fact that for safety reasons you might not want to be unable to hear horns/sirens/shouting while walking around. You wouldn't have to worry at all about quality with that set though as long as you are okay with closed headphones in general.
I have a set of Beats Solo HD on sale on eBay. They worked very well with Beats for me and have amazing bass. The only thing is you need an equalizer app to turn up mids and highs when playing rock or alternative. They're going cheap if you wanna check em here http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem?itemId=181053072394&index=0&nav=SEARCH&nid=60174087912
The Beats have great bass but if you want richer sound I'd suggest another brand.

I have a pair of Sennheiser PX100's, they are pretty amazing for the price. They have great bass, good highs, but the best part is the price is about $40. Unfortunately you cant really buy them anywhere, they have been replaced by the PX100-II, and I cant speak to those. So if you can find a pair for about $40, I would definately buy them.

As with any company there are good and bad models for what you want. I love my Sennheiser hd280 pro's, but they don't have overpowering bass like other models. I was more concerned with sound blocking and clear sounds. You really have to read reviews and test headphones out in the stores (with your own device/music) if you want something great.
The Beats EQ works with anything you plugin. Beats boosts bass a decent amount with a little boost in treble.
I'd check out head-fi's website and ask around there, be sure to be specific about your taste.
I personally took their $30 recommendation for IEMs and went with a Meelectronic M31. Never looked back, works wonders with the phone and every genre of music sounds great.
Hope I helped,
Happy New Years!

Thanks for the offer. But I did go and buy the M50's, as I would use it for the rich sound and in the indoor environment. I appreciate the help and I'm sure anyone reading would probably take you up on that offer!
Happy New Years!

Assuming he's from US, ours didn't come with any headphones.
I have some beats studio in white and some audiotechnica ATH-M50's in white and I'll I can say is the ATH-M50's are better with any music, in any situation, and in every way.
EDIT: unless you're looking for a necklace that also emits sound, then I'd go with the beats.

Headphones for the money: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?p_id=8323
Hands down. A/B'd them against my Sennheiser HD280pro, and for everyday listening or gaming, I'd go with the Monoprice. Clear but not overpowering bass, good highs.
Fantastic presence. The HD280pro have a little more transparency in the sound, but you can't beat the Monoprice 8323s in the <$100 price bracket. There's just no competition.
Everything from dubstep to Diana Krall was gorgeous on these puppies.
Don't know what the $ price is, but can recommend sennheiser HD 25-1 II
I use the Soul SL99's, they sound great, I love the clarity all around and a good thumpy bass. I am looking for something better so I'm also checking this thread for some good suggestions under 100 bucks.
I use sennheiser HD 280 pros. I bought my pair 9 years ago and I've used them every day. I don't use speakers ever so I've litterally used them every day. Yesterday they finally broke and guess what? I'm buying another pair this week. They were $299 way back then, but they're only $100 now.
Highly recommend them!

Check out the razer electra i got em and they are amazing!
I normally take hifi magazine reviews with a pinch of salt but the Soundmagic E-10 IEDs got pretty good reviews from users too, so I splashed out a very reasonable £30 or so for a pair. It took a while to get them to fit correctly in my ear but the results are very good indeed, especially for the price.
I thought I had bought a lemon when I first tried them, but fitting the correct ear bud is vital for good sound from IEDs. When I use 'over the ear' headphones (usually at home) I use Sennheiser HD280s.
hbforce
try Logitech or Genius ............... !!!!!

Best Headphones for s4

Can anyone please suggest a good headphone with extra bass and decent sound quality under 500dollars
Which is better senhieser or JBL or Bose?
Can I use the headphones while playing games and at the same time listening to music
You have to specify which type, over ear or IEMs. I'll just give a few IEMs that are good.
I'm currently using Shure SE215's which already IEMs . Though they're just entry level earphones in the Shure SE lineup, they are pretty darn good.
However, if you go higher up the SE lineup, they have the SE 315 and SE 535 which are better.
However, Shure isn't the best. There is Heir Audio, which from what I have heard is a beast.
I've listed a few IEMshere..
Westone 4
Heir 4Ai
UE900
JVC FX700
Sony EX1000
But if you want to find out more about best headphones, go to Head-Fi.com.

just picked up the LG HBS-730 from best buy and love them the sound quality is awesome, had them price matched at amazon for $53.50 what a deal!
supports APT-X for crisp sound and surprisingly good bass.
Klipsch Reference S4i ftw!
Need great ones with music controls...most of them don't control volume. Suggestions for earphones with volume controls?

Just keep in mind that not all earphones with low impedance will work on i9505, see this thread here.
A surprisingly good pair for 50 bucks or less would be the Brainwavz R1. Otherwise, if you've got cash burning a hole in your pocket, I highly recommend a pair of VSonic GR07 MK2. They'll run you about 180 bucks on Amazon and are worth every penny, but require a burn-in period to really make your purchase worth it.
The ones that come with the phone are actually pretty good. I got some comply foam tips for them and they fit great. The flat cable is really nice too.
Link to comply foam please?

NTune by Monster, they smoke Beats and use less power to perform at higher levels.

Buy
Shure SE535 $440, SE425 $300, SE315 $200
Etymotic ER-4 $250
Westone UM3X $280, UM2 $225
Sennheiser HD 650 $500, HD 600 $400, HD 558 $160
AKG K702 $270
Starting from hearing aid products, long history producing musical equipment, actually do R&D for headphones, and those are recognized as reference headphones.
Do not buy
Beats, Skullcandy, Bose (overwhelming bass)
If you want a fancy looking one.. choose Sony MDR-1RBT.
I've owned several pairs under 175 and the best I've found are the $15 skull candy ones. Try those out before you spend more.

Overwhelming bass? The $15 skull candy that I have are very well balanced. Bose had so much bass you couldn't hear anything else.

Bose ie2 FTW. I use poweramp with them. Can skip tracks with the lil remote/mic. I wouldnt buy anything else.
I like the way the fit in my ear And when im out riding on my road/mtn bike the dont slip out when Im sweating.
For the guys who say they have overwelming bass, what are you using for a musicplayer? Any other headphones seem to be more on the 'treble' side for me.....
To each there own.
Honestly, aside from the VSonics and Brainwavz models that I already mentioned, I wouldn't consider Etymotic unless you need the hf2's remote. The ER-4 used to be great and I had a good ride with them, but stepped up to some Shure SE530s and the difference was night and day. STILL, I'd rather run the VSonic. Westone are nice if you can afford the audiologist appointment and custom molds, and I will personally NEVER run Bose, Monster, or Beats (btw, Monster=Beats and don't let anyone tell you otherwise...same build house and everything).
Need another clean, SQ-oriented set for around 60 bucks that you can legitimately work out with? Try the Sennheiser CX680. I ran the i variant with my 4S for a decent amount of time and they sound great with clean bass (not overemphasized), stay in place, are sweatproof, and don't start to hurt after 5 minutes of wear.
haha you need to check out NuForce NE-600X... They are Sound Isolating Earbuds. They are metal and for $25 on Amazon they sound better then any earbuds $100 or less.

Take any major magazine's reviews with a grain of salt, man. It comes down to the sound signatures you like best, after all. If you look at the popular choice for over-the-ear-budget cans (Grado SR60), they get universal acclaim. Put them on your ears, however, and most will hate the way they sound. Same with the B&O models you'll find at Apple stores. NuForce excels in DACs and headphone amps on the cheap, but I wouldn't put too much stock in their buds.
