Help me decide on headphones.. - AT&T, Rogers HTC One X, Telstra One XL

I know there are a couple threads throughout xda about which are the best headphones but I figured I'd ask in my own thread cuz my priorities may be different than others. If this should be in Q&A, the mods can you please move it?
I had a pair of ibeats headphones that came with the Rezound. They broke so Verizon sent me a brand new pair in the retail box that you would get at Target or Best Buy. There are a little bit different than the first ones. Anyways, the right ear bud is losing its sound compared to the left one so I need a new pair.
I LOVED the sound from beats. I listen to a lot of rap so I like deep bass. Are there any headphones that sound just as nice or better at a lower or equal price? I really want the studios or pros but it's too much for me to spend right now.
I've seen people mention the s4i's. Do they have deep bass like the beats?
P. S. I also didn't care for the way the ibeats felt in my ear. They weren't comfortable. So something with a nice fit for long periods would be a plus.

There's nothing that comes to mind that compares to the bass from Beats by Dre.
I personally don't have the S4i because those are meant to be used with Apple devices. I do on the other hand have the S4a and they don't fill the bottom end as much for songs with deep bass, but they are crisp and clear. Very evenly toned.
If you want good bass, check out the IE monitors that I mentioned in the other thread.

I'd put my Bose headphones up against the beats any day
Sent from my One X using Tapatalk 2

I'd take Sennheiser over Beats or Bose any day of the week.

Audio Technica ATH-M50's like these http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/produ..._ATH_M50_Professional_Closed_Back_Studio.html the Sony MDR-V6 or a pair of Sennhaiser HD 280 PROs, HD 448s or higher, depending on your budget.
Edit: Since you want bass, I know the 280 PROs are considered to be pretty deep sounding but I don't know about the rest. I have HD 448s and love them but I like flat EQ, so they probably aren't for you. You should read reviews on audiophile sites to see which model matches your preferences.

I bought some beats tour headphones a while back and I am unhappy with how things ended up. My wife couldn't find her gym headphones so she grabbed my beats and now she won't give them back or share them with me. Always connected to her phone. I could justify buying another pair but don't want to drop the money on a second pair at the moment. Great headphones though.

I have a pair of Porta Pros too. They're pretty great for the money, but they're not very comfortable for long use and they're completely open. So, if there is any background noise, you can't hear the music anymore

I thought that there would be some audiophiles on XDA but apparently not. Beats? Bose? Horrible waste of money. Porta Pros are great for the price. But like previously stated, they leak, a lot. The ATH M50's are great as well. Very good entry level audiophile headphones. If you're budget allows it, the DT 770 Pro 80 Ohms are also really good.

I actually really liked the sound of the beats headsets that I've tried. I'm just looking for something similar that may be less expensive or around the same price.

i bought sol republics, used my gf's best buy discount and got em for 50 dollars and they are same quality as beats, love em! only thing i dont like about them is i cant wear em for a few hours or they begin hurting the top of my ears. but they retail for 120 dollars. best purchase i bought in a while! they also sound amazing on the one xl, beats is still active and gives it that amazing deep bass!

You get better sound out of cans. Are you fixed on earbuds or will over the ear do? You mentioned studios, so I assume you're ok with over the ear. Because the driver is bigger, the sound is much richer dollar-for-dollar.
Glaucoma Cat had some solid recommendations. If you're looking to spend a little less, the zx-600's are pretty good. You can find them on sale for around 50.

Can anyone recommend earphones with a good handsfree system that works? I tried the S4a, and while it sounds great, I hate the one button control. Is there a three button control earphone that allows me to play/pause, change tracks, vol. up/down, answer calls and finish them too? And is there one that can allow me to launch google voice actions?

I need a new pair of headphones (not earbuds)

Well my headphones finally broke after 4 years, I love it and it's time for me to get a new pair
Can someone suggest a good but a reasonable one at a decent price.
Looking for noise cancelling and black
Thanks
the ones that came with the sensation are really good imo
and i have/had the bose in ear and around ear, ibeats and Solo HD's
there really cheap too on like ebay. maybe 15 bucks, some are cheaper, like 5 or 6.
oh you want noise canceling lol..
id say the new bose around ear are good... but i'd look into other brands like Koss, Sennheiser, Audio Technica and Klipsh.
Never had any of them but I hear they are really good brands

Yea they are. I mean, if you want bang for buck you can look at the Sennheiser HD Series. They go for pretty cheap on ebay.
I really love the Bose AE2's tho... Amazing sound and I can never hear anything around me lol
Thanks for the suggestions, I'll see what I can do
The bose ones look nice
They're not noise cancelling but the sennheisser HD-25 mkII are probably the best sound quality I've experienced from headphones.
They are what most sound engineers and DJs use, so they are designed to cut out a large amount of external sound - I have no problem listening on planes, busses etc.
Cheaper than Bose too.
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Sennheiser-II-Closed-Headphone-headband/dp/B000TDZOXG
EDIT: you can pick them up for around £130.00 on ebay
I'd recommend the Sony MDR NC33, they are in ear noise cancelling headphones and you can pick them up online for between £50-60.
You could always try the Sony MDR NC7 which are considerably cheaper at around £20-30 but are over ear.
Out of the 2 i would pick the MDR NC33's because they give a comfortable fit and are awesome in general, plus they're Sony so they are well made and have a wicked sound quality.
I don't think you can get mobile noise cancelling headphones, i know you can get noise cancelling bluetooth headsets but not as headphones, i don't think so anyway. However, if you're looking for a quality pair of mobile in ear headphones with good sound quality, and well, noise isolation and not noise cancellation, i'd try the Bose MIE2i, they go for around £90 online.
Oh wait, i've found a noise cancelling pair with an inline mic, they are the AKG K390, they are for £73.26 on Amazon.
But yeah, i'd still recommend the Sony MDR NC33 if you intend on using them solely for music, or the Bose if you want a mic.
Hope this helps
Thanks guys for the suggestions I will definitely look at the Sony ones over ear, I don't like the in ear ones merely because after sometime my ears hurt weird but yeah

I got mine for $85 bux, well the V-Moda Crossfades LP (originals). If you are looking for a bit cheaper headphones, I can wholeheartedly recommend the SOL Republic Tracks. About 100 bux at Best Buy. Try them out and see if they seem good or not.
I have both the V-Moda Crossfades LPs and Sol Republic Tracks HD (HD is the highest model-also bought for $85 bux). And both are on par with clarity but the bass is there when needed. But the Sol Republic are a bit more on the bass-y side, but not obnoxious. lol
However if you are looking for cheaper than that, go with the Koss Porta Pro. Its bit retro, but its and awesome headset for clarity. (retail is about $35 bux). Not bassy as the beats, but they are moderate in bass but it's just clear as heck! Mine broke after years of use lol. I am talking about a good 12 years or so.

I already bought Monster Ibeat beats audio by Dr.Dre original that came with the hTC Rezound and Sensation with control talk etc. Just waiting for it to arrive
First tip: Different people have different taste. 250 can buy you some really good sounding products. I would recommend HeadRoom because they provide a lot of guidance based on price and taste and even provide you with cool frequency response graphs. Really worth doing a few hours of research over if you're spending that kind of money. At that price, good brands to keep your eyes open for: Sennheiser, AKG, Beyerdynamic, Denon, and Audio Technica.
Head-fi is a good resource but ABSOLUTELY chock full of opinion and voodoo. First thing to remember is that your taste might not equal someone elses, though on Head-Fi, nearly everything is taken as fact.
Final tip: Don't buy it if it has someone's name on it. This includes Beats, Soul, etc. It's not that they're bad per se, just overpriced. You can buy some hard hitting heavy bass headphones like Beats for much less. For example, the Audio Technica ATH-M50 is 150 on amazon and have a very similar sound to the 300 dollar Beats over ears.
sassafras
The ATH-M50 / M50s are great headphones. I would take those over any pair of beats.
The DJ headphones I use are Sennheiser HD25IIs. A bit more pricey, but great on ear headphones with good isolation while being light weight.
For long periods of use, I use my Audio Technica ATH-AD700s.
For IEMs I just Klipsch S4s
If you want to buy a pair of headphones. Let me know what your budget is and what kind of headphones you want (IEMs, on ear, over ear) and I can find the best pair.
Another tip- never buy a headset. ever.
If you want something good looking like the Beats with quality sound, wait for the P3s : http://www.bowers-wilkins.com/Headphones/Headphones/P3/explore.html
If they're anything like the P5s, they're going to be amazing.

They truely, truely are. How can anyone favor beats? They're disgustingly bass heavy.
I got a pair of urbeats headphones free through work. Yes, they're quite bass heavy, but the sound isn't terrible.
What I'm really looking for is something with an in-line mic and controls. I really like the 3 buttons on the remote to pause, skip, and rewind.
Are there any other headphones on the market besides the beats that have a mic and the 3 button controls? I wanted to get the Klipsch S4a's, but they only have the single button control.
Is there anything (earbuds) in the $50-ish range that are any better than what the phones come with? I haven't opened the ones the HTC came with, but they look like the others.... a joke.
I only *rarely* use headphones/earbuds so I don't need a $250pr. I've tried Beats, thought they were very comfortable.
Also, if I could get a helmet on over them, that would be a plus.

Headphones

I'm looking for a set of headphones within the $100-$150 range. I have looked around many forum discussions and finally decided on getting the Audio-Technica ATH-M50. However before I buy it I'm having second thoughts.. I have an HTC One S with beats integrated (obviously) and listen to mainly rap/hip hop, but occasionally rock also. I was wondering whether if I should go with the beats used or go with the M50? M50 I heard was better but us more focused on the complete sound of the song and more suited for songs other than rap/hip hop. Whereas I like my bass relatively heavy in my songs. Which beats provide since that's kinda their selling point. Also does beats for my phone have any distinctly different effect on the two headphones or does it just boost the bass of the song? Also I heard that Beats have noise-canceling technology which sounds really appealing, but my question to you is the feature worth over the M50's? Any thoughts are appreciated

I have the in-ear Monster iSport immersion headphones and I am more than happy with the sound, really pro sound from in ear headphones, I was surprised with the bass they produce. Music is crisp and loud even in max volume, no need to use it over 70-80% though since the noice cancellation is adequate.
Sent from my HTC One S using Tapatalk 2
The M50's are a very nice set and would certainly sound better than Beats, but you might consider where you are going to be listening. They are a set more geared toward home/studio. While the closed headphones are great for being able to ignore the outside noises of everyday travel and not disturb the people around you with your music, you might consider the fact that for safety reasons you might not want to be unable to hear horns/sirens/shouting while walking around. You wouldn't have to worry at all about quality with that set though as long as you are okay with closed headphones in general.
I have a set of Beats Solo HD on sale on eBay. They worked very well with Beats for me and have amazing bass. The only thing is you need an equalizer app to turn up mids and highs when playing rock or alternative. They're going cheap if you wanna check em here http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem?itemId=181053072394&index=0&nav=SEARCH&nid=60174087912

As with any company there are good and bad models for what you want. I love my Sennheiser hd280 pro's, but they don't have overpowering bass like other models. I was more concerned with sound blocking and clear sounds. You really have to read reviews and test headphones out in the stores (with your own device/music) if you want something great.
The Beats EQ works with anything you plugin. Beats boosts bass a decent amount with a little boost in treble.
I'd check out head-fi's website and ask around there, be sure to be specific about your taste.
I personally took their $30 recommendation for IEMs and went with a Meelectronic M31. Never looked back, works wonders with the phone and every genre of music sounds great.
Hope I helped,
Happy New Years!

Hands down. A/B'd them against my Sennheiser HD280pro, and for everyday listening or gaming, I'd go with the Monoprice. Clear but not overpowering bass, good highs.
Fantastic presence. The HD280pro have a little more transparency in the sound, but you can't beat the Monoprice 8323s in the <$100 price bracket. There's just no competition.
Everything from dubstep to Diana Krall was gorgeous on these puppies.
Don't know what the $ price is, but can recommend sennheiser HD 25-1 II
I use the Soul SL99's, they sound great, I love the clarity all around and a good thumpy bass. I am looking for something better so I'm also checking this thread for some good suggestions under 100 bucks.
I use sennheiser HD 280 pros. I bought my pair 9 years ago and I've used them every day. I don't use speakers ever so I've litterally used them every day. Yesterday they finally broke and guess what? I'm buying another pair this week. They were $299 way back then, but they're only $100 now.
Highly recommend them!

I normally take hifi magazine reviews with a pinch of salt but the Soundmagic E-10 IEDs got pretty good reviews from users too, so I splashed out a very reasonable £30 or so for a pair. It took a while to get them to fit correctly in my ear but the results are very good indeed, especially for the price.
I thought I had bought a lemon when I first tried them, but fitting the correct ear bud is vital for good sound from IEDs. When I use 'over the ear' headphones (usually at home) I use Sennheiser HD280s.

I'm in the market for some new headphones and I'm having a hard time deciding between the Bose MIE2 or the Klipsch Image S4A II's .
Does anyone have any experience with either of these headphones?
Any opinions would be appreciated.
Thanks!

Do you find the Bose stay in your ear well?
I know the Bose MIE2 are not noise cancelling headphones, but do they isolate the noise at all?
For example when your listening to music or on a phone call can you easily hear other conversations going on around you?
I'm also in the market for a new pair of headphones. Looking at the S4As as they're supposed to be meant for android handsets. They're on sale in my area for 50$ so I'm looking at those

Canada Computers I'm guessing?
I'm leaning towards the Klipsch personally. The cord on them looks like it can take much more of a beating compared to the Bose and I like the fact that Klipsch has a android app that will let you customize the features of the button on the device.
They do pretty good job blocking outside noise for daily commute on the train for me... Confront is excellent they are tight fit but you practically can't feel them its amazing especially when you are running.
Sent from my HTC One X using Tapatalk 2
I've never used the Bose set before, but the Klipsch I used for a few weeks before settling on Etymotic Research hf2's.
My ear isn't professionally trained, and I haven't used too many pairs of headphones, but to me, the Klipsch S4A's sound very warm and rich. The bass is a bit boomy, but as a result, it sounds a bit mushy when compared to the hf2's. The hf2's should be right in your price range (it comes with an inline mic with one button) and owners are promised Essency's Awareness app, though that hasn't been released on Android yet. You should check them out.
P.S. They do stick a bit into your ears; I've never had a problem with this and experience no fatigue with the hf2's, even after 6 or 7 hours of continuous wear. You just gotta find the right tip.

Thanks for all the help guys.
I'm going to pick up the Klipsch S4A II this weekend. I will let you guys know how I like them after I have used them for a few days.

What do you think about the google headphone

I want to buy headphones to my Nexus 4, and I want to know what is your opinion about the google headphone, or the ibeats (Dr. Dre).

If you like your headphones bassy and overpriced, go for the ibeats. But I doubt the controls will work as they're made for apple devices.
In general, I think you'll find much better options than either. First of all, though, you should think about what you want in your headphones and how much you're willing to spend. And then seek out a forum with lots of people who care about audio quality etc.
I personally am using the Superlux HD 381F. Build quality is not spectacular, but the sound is amazing considering they only cost 20€, so it's not that much of a loss if you break or lose them. Which I do way too often to actually buy more expensive ones.
I would go with neither.
Go with Senheiser or another know 'headphone' brand.
I myself use the Marley earbuds, they fit perfectly, the cord is not from plastic but from fabric, earbuds are from wood, and most of all have amazing sound.

i read in the forum that have any app that control on the pins, like one click its play/stop , two clicks its next song..
the question if its realy working
Get yourself a pair of Sennheiser, Shure, or audio-technica headphones. ~$100 for some really good ones.

Do a little search and you can come up with a few threads on various headphones. From cheapest, to what you have/recommend, in ear or over the ear, etc. It's here. I know because I commented on most of them lol.
My opinion of the Google headphones. They are good for just the casual listener. Dr. Dre are a bit overpriced for what they are, but I don't deny the popularity of them due to "style" and whatnot. What is your budget? What type of headphones are you looking into? These are some of the things to think of and do a little research on to come to your conclusion.
I just bought some Munitio NINES 9mm earbuds, because they looked interesting because they look like bullet casings lol. Well I read in some reviews that they sound great for the price. So I am testing them out.
So basically, if you want good in ears, go for the brands like Sennheiser or Shure products. Also Jays headphones are decent as well. I personally use the Sol Republic AMPS HD for my yardwork. They are light and tangle free. Over the ears are based on mostly on personal preference due to the head phone cup size, portability, and so forth.
Additionally, the type of music you listen to plays a factor as well. GL and happy shopping!

I have not tried the google headphones, ( i'm sure their average to decent like standard earphones) but I do own the ibeats by Dr.dre. I would not have bought them myself as I agree they are overpriced, but I received them as a birthday gift. The quality is very good, better than any other earphones I tried or had ( all <$20) and they have a lot of bass, which I really like. The build quality is really good too, better than all my usual cheap earphones ( but thats what you would expect at that price range) - the rubber for the wires and the metal earbuds are both good. I was happy with the sound but honestly I'm sure you could get just as good a pair in terms of sound quality for $50, like the name brands mentioned above. These are just priced for the branding and popularity and style points. I did get a lot of compliments for them since they are recognizable.
For the controls, only the center button worked for me. It does pause/play, or pick up/hang up a call. You can get apps to set the one button to do other things based on how many times you press it. The volume/track + - buttons did not work for me, I don't think android supports them yet.
So your choice, depends on your budget and what you want. They're good but expensive.. you might be better off with one of the well known audio company brands.

I use them with this: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.kober.headsetbutton
They're excellent for the money, and the plug is actually a 90 degree, though the pictures don't show it. They've got great bass, and you won't believe the quality for the price.
I recommend the Klipsch IMAGE S4 II's. Love the sound from them and they're not too expensive. If you're looking for cheap, the IMAGE S3 or original IMAGE S4's also do an excellent job. The versions that have an A at the end of them have a customizable button via an Android app made by Klipsch themselves.

I saw the thread about the headphones, and i don't want to pay too much, my range price is 10-30$ not more
now when everyone say that Dr.Dre it's only name I will not buy his headphones
Are you happy with your headphones? they look good , but I can't test them .. only from you opinion and more subjects on them .
I saw this headphones: Sennheiser CX300II, but I do not like the cable length is not the same

OP- Since you said you like bass, I strongly suggest you try JVC HAFX101 or JVC HAFX1X. I own both and they produce mind blowing bass. No kidding! They cost $14-15. You can get them both and still stay under budget

You can get them on Amazon.
Yep, I'm happy with them. They sound really good. I also recommend getting comply foam tips to go with these (you can get those on amazon too) :good:
What is your budget? I can help suggest something or you could post in the "portable" "What Headphone Should I Buy" thread at Head-Fi.org and someone will reply with your best options.
10-30$

Seconding this. I have the HAFX1X and it really pumps the bass. Looks pretty good too! Now if I can find the bud thing that fits in my ears instead of it falling out, it'll be golden.
