Hi, I wanted to buy the Xperia ZL because of the camera button, but since it won't come out in Germany I'll have to buy the Xperia Z which doesn't has one. Now my question is: Does the Xperia Z have a camera icon on the lockscreen even if I have a PIN-code as unlock method ? I was wondering because on the Xperia S or on the Nexus 4, the camera Icons and so on, don't get displayed when I have a PIN-code as unlock method.

I'm not too sure about the xperia z but all Sony devices (with or without camera buttons) allow access to the camera without unlocking the phone. It should be the same for the xperia z

what about the exmore sensor
does it produces a good quality image.will CAMERA FV5 work on it.

The camera is really good, you can see some samples on general thread. However, video recording is not so good, since the camera really lags with low light enviroinments. I think a custom rom will solve this problem

The best on the Xperia L Camera is the HDR mode, which comes without 3 Pictures and long processing times. :good:

I did a mini tutorial teaching the correct slowness even in environments with low lighting!
'Do what your fps will be high!
Open the camera> select video camera mode> choose scene soft snap> va Settings and choose the 176x144 resolution> then choose the resolution hd.
All done without any lag!'

The image quality is better the price of this device
hi guyz,i brought xperia ray ST18i..but its cam not work properly.i still didnt feel it has 8 megapixel camera.most of white area in photos are more brighter.please tell me what should i do to solve this.
I really like the cam of the st18, but maybe you could upload a picture to show us your problem.

Front camera of my xperia L is below par..There is no brightness..it shows dark pictures..sometimes it show lines..

No there is no solution I think. It is a vga camera. Sony did not gave a good camera for video calling. I guess we will have to search the net to find a solution
Upgrade to 4.2.2
I was getting the same problem but when i upgraded to android 4.2.2 it worked really fine
Camera is improved in 15.3.A.0.26 update.. Don't expect clarity like main camera in front camera.. Hope that helps..

It doesn't install on our stock firmware, because we didn't get it with Sony's Smart Social Camera. Maybe this will work when you flash that to your phone first.

Well SONY is like an a****le to its own phones... they made apps and updates to some particular phones and let other phones, as good as others and better, fall behind, for what? Thes did dissapoint me...

Sony should update the info for Xperia M

Sony say, Let's update it to 4.3 and give it a social camera!
Whereas the actual Xperia with a camera designed by Sony’s leading camera expertise gets 4.2 and no social camera. Honestly the focus and lag is rubbish. My iPhone 4 is better and that's years older.

Have you used an iPhone 4? Basically it focuses and when you press the shutter, the photo is taken, no blur.
The Xperia L, focuses, looks great, you press the shutter and the phone refocuses, so really great if you take photos of something that is stationary (building, landscape) but useless for anything which moves slightly.
I have a 17 month old boy and it's nearly impossible to take photos blur free, with the iPhone, nearly every photo is perfect. I will post one from each so you can compare. I got the xperia L to replace the iPhone 4. Unless Sony do something with the software, it's going on eBay.

The focus of the XL is a problem. Touch to focus works, but press the shutter and it refocuses. It takes me several tries to get the actual focus I want. This is more apparent when trying to shoot on macro or close moving objects.
I really don't know what's wrong with Sony's software team.
Honestly it's useless as it is.
The annoying this is, Exmor-R, Exmor-RS sensors are in iPhone, Samsung phones and they take amazing photos but the actually Sony phones suck. Definitely a software issue as using the google camera app the camera focuses and take a photo (rather than refocusing).

It won't install on our XL. Its an addon for sony smart camera and will be available for those mobiles which got the smart camera app. Thank you sony for leaving us and fooling us. I think this might be my last sony smartphone. You are worst at customer support. Even XM has got 4.3 and smart camera app but we with 8mp camera are left alone and no sign of update.
Really annoying sony.
