what firmware did u flash. the only problem in newest JB form spain region is just about the symbol but the layout is still in qwerty. To fix this, you shoul edit it manually or just take layout from keyboard from your ics rom to your newest JB rom.

I Don't know about azerty keyboard layout, cause i'm using qwerty .
But u can change the key characters of physical keyboard layout on system/csc/Your region code(for spain it's PHE)/system/usr/keychars/bcm_keypad_v2.kcm.
edit it and change it using your virtual keyboard. OR you can use ICS bcm_keypad_v2.kcm from old rom (if you have your backup).
That's it. You will get your old layout keyboard and will fix forever.

Of course you should. How can you edit your system without Root? Just edit the key i mention above. Before that click on screen keypad on the "language and input setting". And then just take look for chars that you think miss, then fix it using your virtual keyboard.
You can use root explorer to do that.
Hope this will help you. Press thanks if yes.

Solution
You can replace original bcm_keypad_v2.kl with the file you find at link http://ge.tt/4nhbXzg/v/0?c
You can push it into windows file manager and the use for example Root Explorer (yes, root before your phone) to copy it to system>usr>keylayout
The button to access to chatON don't run. If you want set it, before open the file and replace CUST1 with CHATON.

small tutorial to change galaxy chat b5330 keyboard layout from spanish to english or other
so
you have customer customization files, that means folder /system/csc
here you can find all keyboard layouts
CPW folder contains custumization data for britain
for other layouts check it yourself
in PHE are the spanish
now you can:
a:
delete from PHE keylayout and keychars folder contents and /system/usr/keylayout and keychar files will be active
b:
move keylayout and keychars folder contents from CPW(or your layout) to PHE folder
it works... after reboot
at least for me
and you can play with the keyboard layout now as described in other tutorials, you can simulate DPAD too, if you make one key CTRL or META, but it's not working in many apps, on launcher i can navigate
and you can add some buttons to wake up device, not to kill power key

hi
you can try to install a firmware from LUXEMBOURG
i had the same problem so i have downloaded this firmware from sammobile

My Method
I had the same problem with the keyboard, anda after a few attempts I finally bring it back to a good configuration.
1-. Root the phone of course
2-. Download a file manager and go to system/csc
3-. Here we find the hole stuff from the available countries in phone's configuration. It's important to know which is the sale code of our firmware (For example, my firmware's code is ITV, and is from Italy)
4-. Now we have to look for the correct file for our keyboard to work properly. The best solution is know the sale code of our language (For example, I have a spanish keyboard, and the sale code of spain is the Phone House España PHE).
5-. Now that we know the sale code, we go to system/csc/XXX(Sale Code)/system/usr/keychars, where we can find a file called "bcm_keypad_v2.kcm". This is the supposed correct file for our keyboard. If we dont trust, we can open it as a text file and edit with a text editor. If chracters match with sysmbols inside the file, that means that it is the correct file.
6-. We copy bcm_keypad_v2.kcm and go back right to system/csc. Now we look for the sale code of the firmware that we have flashed (ITV, in my case) and go to system/csc/YYY(Sale Code)/system/usr/keychars, and replaced the file there with the other one that we copied before.
7-. Finally, go to system/usr/keychars and there again we replaced the bcm_keypad_v2.kcm file there with the other one that copied before.
8-. Now reboot and try typing if the keyboard works right or continue working wrong. At least for me works
My theory is that when we flash a rom, the country from where it comes their csc files are taken to system, and we have to replace both keyboard file in the csc repository and keyboard file in the current system.
I hope this will help you :good: Good luck!

Thanks for the helpful tutorial!
This fixed my wrong keyboard layout and the shortcuts buttons.
Now only one issue still remains for me..
The "Sym" button used to switch my keyboard language but now pops up the symbols window.
This way I need to have the on-screen keyboard enabled in order to switch through languages.
Any idea which button mapping I should change to enable language switching on the "Sym" button?
I have root access so I only need to know which file and button mapping option I should change to fix this.

I've an italian rom too, so anyone can explain how to change that keyboard layout? Or btw tell me how to open the 2 roms and fix the DLL from the first rom to second. At this time, i've tryed some method but right now, no rom extracted.
Thanks in advice.

It's no matter of DLLs, it's a matter of registry settings.
Can you handle a registry editor? If you can, try looking for keys relating to keyboard layout. For example, on my imate jasjar with Jwrightcmps's 2.02.02 WWE rom the relevant key is HKLM/SOFTWARE/OEM/Qwerty/Layout. Another way to find the registry key is by searching for key values though. Try for hex 409 if your current layout is US english, or hex 809 if it is UK english, but as you'll probably find several keys with either of those values, be very careful to pick the right key.
Once you have found the relevant key, set its value at hex 410 (decimal 1040), then reboot (possibly twice), and enjoy your italian keyboard.
I exported the key i use to modify the keyboard.
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\OEM\Qwerty]
"Layout"=dword:00010410
You can download here and import using any regeditor:

Need Help! Urgent!

I gave my old C2125 runing WiMo 6 to my gf's sister because she needed an unlocked phone (she's in china for 4 months). Problem is that she bought a prepaid sim there, it works but she can't text. She can only input numbers when she writes a text, she can't change it to t9 or ABC. Any ideas?
I've told her to hold * until the menu comes up but she says it doesn't work. Is there another way to change the text input?
It means that whatever ROM you installed did not have English t9 in it, and you didn't install it manually. The only way to get it in there now is to manually install the cab file (do a search for English t9 cab).
She has to install the .cab file for T9 input.

Enhanced Notification Manager ?

Hi all,
has anyone tried this one already ?

It seems to add some functionality to the Notification Manager (like turning on/off WiFi, for example). But I'm afraid it will not install, because we have the new Notification Manager already.
What do you say ?

Yes, there is a way to add the "Battery" string in front, but it requires you to edit a MUI file.
Let me explain:
When you install the distributed cab file it installs on your device various graphic files, plus 2 MUI files. These MUI files are for WWE devices. If your device is set to use other language as default (like mine which is set to work with Greek) then these two MUI files will be installed on your system, but they will be ignored, and the ENM will take it's strings from the original MUI that won't be overwritten by the installation.
There are two ways to get the "Battery" string showing.
The first way is to replace the original MUI files of NM with the new ones that the cab installs. This method arises another problem though: If you do so, the entire NM will be shown in WWE and NOT on your language. This means that you'll get the "Battery" string but all the other strings will be in English and not your language (e.g. Greek)
The second way is a little more tricky, but it has guaranteed results:
You just edit the original MUI file of your device to add the "Battery" string!
Since editing MUI files is tricky I'll post a quick guide on how to do it, but you may need to Google for it to get more details.
Everything will be done on your PC. You will need the following:
1. A MUI unsigner - Signer
2. A Resource Editor
3. The MUI file
I wish I had kept the links, but I only have the apps, so I can't tell you from where to get these apps. The MUI unsigner-signer I get it from these very forums (XDA). Use search to find it. For a resource editor I used XN Resource Editor
The MUI file you will get it from your device. Just browse your phone's Windows directory and copy NotificationManager.dll.XXXX.MUI file on your PC
The .XXXX.MUI part is actually the number of your language. For instance in my case I needed the NotificationManager.dll.0408.MUI which is the GREEK MUI file.
1.
Copy the MUI file on a short path on your PC, something like C:\Temp\MUI\
2.
Extract the MUI unSigner-Signer on the same path
3.
Run the MUI unsigner to unsign your MUI file
4.
Use the resource editor to edit the MUI file. Depending on the case you may need to add the string, or just edit it. We need to fill the string numbered 176.
If the string exists and it's empty just edit it to fill in the string of your desire. If it doesn't exists then create a new string and pay attention on the LANGUAGE selection upon the new string creation menu. It should be the same language as the rest strings on your file. Keep in mind that ALL resource editors will add 16 string in a row. That's normal, and it doesn't matter. Just use the create string command until you have a "176" value that you can edit. Once you edit the "176" String to say whatever you want it to say, save the file and exit Resource editor.
5.
Use MUI signer to sign your file
6.
Copy the modified MUI file somewhere on your device. Don't try to copy it directly on windows directory. The file is marked as "system" and windows won't let you overwrite it.
7.
Once you have copied the modified file on your device, use an application like Total Commander to do 2 tasks:
a. Backup the original file (by copying it somewhere) and
b. Replace the original file with the modified one.
8. Soft Reset your device and everything should be ok now!
PS:
By no way this is a complete guide on how to do it. It's just what I recall from the process I followed some time ago in order to do it myself.
Directions on how to use MUI unsigner-Signer you'll find on the thread that you'll get it.
PS2:
Be safe: KEEP A BACKUP OF YOUR ORIGINAL FILE FIRST!!!
PS3:
Have fun. If someone needs the Greek Translated MUI file PM me. I have also posted it on the ENM thread back at the time I created it...
EDIT: Here's the link of the Greek MUI file: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=4039484&postcount=125

Keyboard layout returns to US

On my Maple, I have installed the 3VO ROM, and am very happy with it. Just one issue: having set up the German Keyboard layout, the phone returns from time to time to ths standard (US); no way to set German again with the Keymap config, i need to flash the ROM again, which is rather annoying.
Someone has any hint ?
You could always try to replace the US-keymap file, which I did to get my Swedish keyboard working, and softreset. The file is placed in the \Windows directory. First I renamed the original file (eT9.Maple.wwe.kmap.txt) and then copied my modified file from the storage card. I used Total Commander. Not shure the rename step was needed though...
Are there any other better ways?
The keymap (German) is there, and the only one. It seems to happen when i reinstall the programs...

Which program did you install? Is the keymap changed for only that application or the whole phone after installing that application? Have you tried to replace all the eT9.Maple.***.kmap.txt files with the German one (might not be best practice)?

tack! not used to smartphones without touchscreen. had a tp and hd earlier. Will try make a rom later on when i have more time on my hands.
Thank you for yuor interest, i reverted to the original WM 6.5 but am rather disappointed

[Q] Help with "Stock Android 2.2 Keyboard"

Hello, I recently upgraded to Android 2.2 (Froyo). I was unhappy with not having the (all so accustomed to) Android keyboard and began researching alternatives. I stumbled upon this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=780683
I downloaded the file (.zip file) and succesfully got it on my phone. However, I do not know how to go about using a 'root' or what a 'root' is, and I also don't know how to copy the
"/system/app/LatinIME.apk
/system/lib/libjni_latinime.so"
to the system folder.
Any helpful responses will be greatly appreciated.
U r far far away from doing this....!!!!
Rooting is firstly necessary... Its the process where u get access to ur system files by deleting some system files via softwares and/or programming skills.. It also void your manufacturer's warranty..
Do not root only for installing a keyboard..!!! Its a big thing and not for beginners..!!
Then again u have to install custom recovery which is, kind of like bios in computer!! Via custom recovery u can install zip files!!
Good day

Thanks for your replies. I don't necessarily want to void my warranty- being a construction worker and all, phones need to be able to be replaced cheaply- so is there any other possible way to get a free keyboard like the Android 2.1 one? I found a free 7.1x keyboard that was good and easy to use, but you had to pay in order to get options (such as turning off that incessant tapping sound).
Any good free keyboards anybody can point me to that are simple to install?
try this link..
scroll at the middle of the page.. u will see a download option.. download those keyboard apps.. it can also run or other devices besides htc.. download your correct resolution keyboard (download all and see which works best for you)
you will download a zip file.. install the two apk's BY BROWSING TO THAT FILE USING A FILE MANAGER AND THEN CLICKING THE FILE...
GO HERE TO DOWNLOAD
http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?p=5475283
INSTALL THE ONE WHICH FITS YOUR RESOLUTION
TRY THE LAST ONE 1ST(LOWER RESOLUTION KEYBOARD)
AFTER U SUCCESSFULLY INSTALL THE TWO SOFTWARE GO TO settings->language & keyboard and then check mark the htc ime keybord..
then suppose u want to use it to text.. then open messaging-> new message
then press and hold the blank area where u type ur text.. select input method and click htc_ime keyboard..
also u may go to settings from the messaging and select htc_ime to use the keyboard..
GOOD DAY
Oh yeah!!
Unzip the files u download to your phone's memory card 1st!
I have the .apk files in my SD card. How do I install them?
browse to the files using a file manager.. the file manager is provided in every phone..
now go to the files.. and install them one by one.. to install select the file.. that is touch the files and then press install..
Thank you kindly. I should have mentioned I had a Galaxy S Vibrant. The one I downloaded did have a resolution too low but I guess i'll just try out a few more and go from there.
Again, thank you.
