Hey guys,
I've modified Brut.all's Maps to better suit my taste and with Brut.all's permission I'd like to share the *.apk with you.
What's changed:
All icons with "BRUT" watermark reverted to stock
The [brut] suffix removed from the application name
Package name reverted back to com.google.android.apps.maps, so everything works correctly, including Car Panel and Chrometophone.
Bonus:
Zipaligned
Map caching enabled by default

DOWNLOAD & INSTALLATION:
1) Always do a nandroid backup.
2) Download the zip file below, put it to your SD card root and flash via recovery or ROM Manager.

KNOWN ISSUES:
Some users are reporting that they don't see Maps, Navigation, etc. in the app drawer after they install the update.zip.
If you are experiencing this issue, read post #80, it contains an explanation and a fix as well. It may be a bit drastic, but it's the price you have to pay if you want to use this mod.

chrometophone asks what application you want to use when you send it something from google maps to your phone.
So no problem here.
Maybe you selected to allways use the normal google maps?

no, the chrometophone is having bug on this. it default to com.google.android.apps.maps. you can check the bug filed as below.

Hi, I had help you do the mod. i replaced the AndroidManifest.xml with the original GM . Tested, work greatly.

Strange, i use brut version, because can't install the normal, flashed a rom without google maps over a rom witch had google maps and now can't install the normal version.
But when i send some route with chrome2phone it asks if i want to open it with my browser or googlemaps brut. and it works normaly.
i first flashed this one and then i had to install maps.brut...i wouldnt work if i didnt..and then navipanel separately..and now it works flawlessly

may i know which version of chrometophone and brut you using?
I'm trying to apply the zip via open recovery but it fails "E:Could not find the update-binary." anyone knows how to avoid this? Thanks!
Which recovery are you using? The stock? I recommend clockworkmod recovery by Koush, you can either flash it permanently to your Desire using unrEVOked, or use it with the fake-flash method.
Brut has a new version 4.4, brut15 out. Can you, by any chance, modify it for the Car Panel again?

Thanx a lot for the ROM. Everything works great and smooth. But the market doesn't show all apps, even the one i payed for. So i made an update zip with fixed built.prop to unlock the market. The zip is not signed, so disable sign verification.
About the italian traslation, any compiled zip?

Most of it is translated, you will be hard pressed to find none translated text (except for the alternative store)

Not sure if anyone else is having this problem but my keyboard is still chinese... So i just re-added LatinIME and etc and removed Pinyin, seemed to do the trick for me. Other then that this Rom worked flawlessly

yeah for some reason the rom will and up in a boot loop (first boot only) when LatinIME is in the rom instead of Pinyin, personally I use Swype
BTW you can switch to Latin chars via a button on the keyboard
How much minutes this ROM to start up on the first boot? I got so many looping right now

It shouldn't take long to boot..... try wiping your cache and data and rebooting
tis a good rom. only bad thing i can see so far is the dialler. if you type in names it doesnt work =[
I am testing it right now. Currently everything is working cool and i will keep it on my desire if there will be no problems (i only had problem with marketfix version: bootloop).

confirmed working
another minor problem: Facebook sync doesn't work.
I just recently flashed AOKP Build 25 just as directed and, for the most part, everything went pretty smoothly. The only hiccup being that I'm missing the Calendar app. My question is, would it be okay to re-flash the gapps zip or would it mess up the other Google apps I have on my phone presently. I'd love to get it back as it's really inconvenient to access the calendar online.
Any help is appreciated, thanks in advance...

Are these formatted for the One S? I've tried using them from a system dump and it had a parsing error....If you said these work, then shoot thanks bro!!!

Did you push them or just try to install as a normal apk. Sounds like you tried to install normally but, I would think that since they are system apps they would need to be pushed via adb or copy and pasted w/ es file explorer or root explorer and set permissions. Of course there is also the possibility that they only work on jelly bean, but i can't say that for sure.

Definitely tried to push them to system. Even the keyboard doesn't pop up. I think it's a signature thing why there's a parsing error. I could be wrong though. We'll see what happens when AOSP is released...

You can use apktool. For a more user friendly way try Apk manager. If you use apk manager throw the app in the "place here for signing" folder, fire up apk manager and choose option 16. I'm more than happy try it for you if you want, but i think it's always fun to learn.

Velvet.apk is the Google Now and Google Voice Search combined, doesn't work as it requires API Level 16, which only Jellybean has. So it won't work until a Jellybean ROM is ported or the apk is made backward compatible, which I will be forever grateful somebody does!

Sux that velvet won't work. That's one app I was really hoping would just install easily. Hopefully since this isn't a massive update like ICS was, once source is dropped our awesome devs can get us a JB rom

they've gotten Velvet working with a simple build.prop edit. Doesnt appear to work on sense though.

Well, now, you have to be a premium user if you want to download most of the roms in needrom.com, so from now on I will be uploading all versions I have in my hard drive so anyone can download and install.

Hi, I've been working on other phones for this time. Any help is welcome, would you like to modify the camera api? It is needed to increase the saturation of the images. The default camera app is able to increase it, but as soon as you restart the app, it goes to its default value.

I've been able to download apktool in this pc and decompile it for you. Here's a zip with the apk file and the apk decompiled it self. Do your research.

Try flasing v907 the only thing that will work weird will be bluetooth.

So... Correct me if I'm wrong (there's a chance I am...), but shouldn't there be either .dex or .odex file(s) inside the apk? I've been researching and even experimented with other apks to make sure. I tried using dex-tools to create a .jar and that's where the .dex file(s) should come into play (I think). There aren't any .dex or .odex files inside either the apk or the unzipped folder.

That's not how it works, if you deodex the app, you get rid of the odex files, so they don't exist anymore.
