No Sim line and time reverts to 1970 - HTC Sensation

Hi, last night i got a problem on my htc sensation xe. It's suddenly no signal bar and time back to 1970. I using the custom rom Android Revolution HD and HBOOT 1.27 and s-off. Anyone got same problem here?

No.
After setting up the date again and stuff, did the settings sticked?
How's network now?

I experienced this before too. Once was before my phone was rooted and another time was after rooted.

These phones have sort of a internal battery to hold settings and clock in place when the battery dies, I'm assuming that same battery died. I don't know how the network issue can be related, but have you tried scanning for networks? Do you find any provider while scanning?

Below is a Hboot which has the status set to LOCKED use if you need to ( move the PG58IMG.zip on your root of the sdcard and reboot into bootloader )

Issue with the newly released update for Desire S ?

Hi there. Recently I reset my phone and while setting up I got an alert for update for my Desire S, about 35 mb. After updation my current version details are :
Code:
Kernel version now is
2.6.35.10-g2ee27f5
[email protected] # 1
Wed Jun 8 19:20:03 CST 2011
Build number is
1.47.720.1 CL 78999 release-keys
Software Number
1.47.720.1
The problem I am facing is frequent network disconnections even though the network strength is good. The interval is not fixed. Sometimes it works fine for 5-6 hrs, sometimes keeps getting disconnected every half hour. I tried removing battery, sim card and re inserting, nothing works. Anyone else facing this issue ? What can I do to solve this ?
network disonections?? wifi or mobile network?

Mobile network. I did not test WiFi. I tried giving manual network selection as well as automatic, problem is still same.
If u want data connection always to be on, you have to make sure that in settings this option is ticked. I have dutch language, so I don't know how it's called exactly, but has to be something like "keep data always on"

The issue is not data connection. If I tick "keep data always on", it is like telling I want to be continuously connected to my GPRS/EDGE connection. My issue has nothing to do with mobile internet. It is the basic network connectivity. Simple GSM signal.
My girlfriend has the same problem after the last update and i have heard more complaints, i want to unlock that one and put some custom ROM flavor on it
What's your baseband (radio) version? Maybe an update of that will help...
Check developer threads on how to do that. You'll find the latest radio versions as well as older ones there for download. Hope this helps.

I am sorry I did not understand that. If you are talking about the frequency then my carrier frequency is 1800Mhz.
The "radio baseband" is simply said the driver for GSM, WLAN, Bluetooth etc.
You can check the version you got in the phone info... should be in-between "android version" and "kernel"...
I assume you don't have S-Off, right? In case not, you can't update the radio, so my above post is useless.
I'd suggest to try a reset again (holding vol down and power when booting the phone and then do a factory reset, not the reset via >> settings >> privacy), or bring your phone back and have it replaced in warranty...

since your signal was good before update its probably a radio issue if so you can s-off your device & try a different radio or you can do a factory reset
@original poster.
I can confirm I have this issue since the last update, exactly the same symptoms as you. In the previous 4 months of ownership I never had this problem occur even once. I have read several reports of this issue on different forums. I personally haven't done a factory reset because it takes too much to reconfigure my phone. On another forum a user claims to have tried a factory reset and it made no difference.

Ok. The baseband version I curently have is
Code:
20.28I.30.085AU_3805.06.02.03_M
I have S-ON. After reset, should I install these new updates again.
The updates should be installed already, so no need to install them again. I'd suggest to backup your apps and sms with "my backup" first, so life is a bit easier when setting it up again. ;-)
The reset via bootloader takes quite some time, so no worries if your phone seems not to be doing anything for several minutes!

Oh ! So even if I reset, the updates won't be rolled back ? So if the problem was with the update, the issue will still remain ?
if you dont want to do a reset you can s-off & then go back to a older radio
if you want to have s-on then you can follow this guide & return to a RUU with the older radio in it
S-Offing your device is a good alternative, that's true. But if you're not into this, then you better leave it. Check out the developer section for this ("Revolutionary").
So... Yeah, system updates will still be there. However, a "deep reset" can help because everything is initialized again from scratch. No guarantee that it will be ok afterwards, but it's sure worth to give it a try!
However, before doing a reset via bootloader, check out if thereis an RUU for your provider. If so, use the RUU instead of a reset in bootloader. This will flash your phone software completely new. Run the program, and it will tell you what to do.
If there's no RUU available that fits you, then do the reset via bootloader.

Yeah but it just might be a software problem..

that's easy if you didn't unlock the bootloader try factory reset
so if it's software problem it will gone otherwise it's a hardware problem
NTP
Found out in the logcat, that when you've selected automatic time/date settings. The htc Cha Cha couldn't pull a correct time/date from the NTP server. Maybe this is the cause of the random reboot. Ive changed my settings and i've for a 2 hours no reboots...
Hmmm, it's weird though.. I've been using auto time/date without any issues for the past 9 months. On stock ROM, SuperOSR, CM7 and CM9. You could try a factory reset (erasing all data) and check if that clears it out. Other than that, it might be radio related.

This is fix the issue? I have been having abnormal restarts with my ChaCha right after I bough it.
It was not the ntp, but the launcher with the sense engine.... I have replaced them with go laucher and removed the stock launcher and the sense engine with root uninstaller.

So removing sense and replacing it with go launcher fixed it for you? I had the same issue with my HTC chacha the very next day I bough it, did factory reset a couple of times and even flashed a new stock ROM through RUU but nothing helped, I feared it could be a hardware problem but since installing cyanogenmod 7 my phone has worked flawlessly. Every time I go back to stock I get abnormal restarts. I have written HTC about this, the only help they offered was to "factory reset" the device. The logs show kernel panic before every random restart.

Having radio problems

After flashing CM9 on my nexus s GSM, I no longer have any data connection or any connection at all for that matter, it detects that there are radios around but I cannot connect to any of them.
I have checked I still have the correct IMEI, and I have tried going to stock 4.0.3 and slim ICS, and 2 different radio drivers to no avail.. Also wi-fi works fine.
Can anyone suggest what I should do next?
edit: even tried going back to gingerbread... still no luck

Did you try to flash the latest factory image (4.0.4) downloaded from Google? It includes the radio, and after flashing it you would have your phone as if you bought it just now.
heres the different radio http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1116884 or maybe the problem was the carrier??
try to figure out whats the problem?? or maybe you broke your signal hardware..
or maybe the problem was on the carrier??

htc sensation wifi error

yes I have tried almost everything, like flashing custom roms or stock ruu almost everyday with different variations. flashing kernels, tweeks, so on and so on.
It works somehow and it disconnect itself after a while or totally stucks in "wireless is turning on". After it get online it makes couple of reboots and it gives "wireless is turning on" error again. I can use the phone for days but wireless never gets on.
The funny point is when wireless on and screen is locked and screen is off. When I attempt to click screen lock button, sometimes it never gives light but I can see that The screen is on and I can move the ring and do whatever i want but it is very hard to see actually. I have to put on light on to see the pictures but it doesnt happen when wifi is off or gives error.
and another funny point is I can swipe down upper bar when screen is locked. I can do bypass.
What the hell is going on my phone? no idea really
lol, i don't know a solution for the screen/wifi issue. but lockscreen pulldown status bar is a new feature of ICS, not a bypass

Hi,
Have a look at THIS THREAD
Particularly # 3 and Extra 1
I have this problem as well...whatever I do, I can't get wifi to work anymore...I reflashed firmware, tried several different roms, I followed the guide in the aforementioned post...nothing helps...it always says "Error" after some time.
Is there anybody who knows what to do?
Struggled with same problem for months...gave up
I had the same problem with my wi-fi and bluetooth. Both would get stuck on "turning on" mode and never come on. Everything else worked fine. I too flashed ROMS, Kernels, RUU's etc. to no avail. SO I GAVE UP. After 2 months without wifi i couldn't anymore so i called HTC, they asked for my S/N and IMEI and confirmed I was still under warranty, so I un-rooted, went back to S-ON, flashed the newest official T-Mobile RUU and shipped the phone away. I called today and they said the MOTHERBOARD was being replaced and I should have it back this week! Woot-Woot! Try giving HTC a call...worst thing that happens is they say NO LONGER UNDER WARRANTY...but you won't find out till you give em a call...*shrug.
I have the same problem with the lock screen and wifi. Except for me the wifi is always on "Error". It doesn't say anything else it just says error. It started happening after a system update failed to install. An update would come up and reboot my phone to try and install it. So it would start up ext4 recovery and ext4 would do some stuff and then reboot again. After boot I was asked again if I wanted to install the update. I repeated this process a couple of times before deciding I had enough and deleted the update.
Wifi has been on Error ever since. Everything else works fine.
Does anyone have any ideas? I'm on a HTC Sensation XE stock rom but HTC Dev unlocked and perm rooted.

Hi buddy.. I was having the same problem as you with the wifi error. Also my phone was restarting by itself. what I did was that I removed the SD card and left the phone without it. It worked for me. After that my wifi was working perfectly and no more restarts. I had a 8GB SD Card before, maybe with this new update this 8GB SDcard was too heavy for the phone. I running a 2GB SDcard now with no problems. Please let me know if it worked to you as well.. Good luck!!

I tried this, but it did not work. I'm not sure if my problem is a hardware failure or a software problem. 3 weeks after I got this phone, it got water damaged. Full of water! I took out the battery, letted it dry for some hours and turned it on. Everything worked! Only thing to see from the water, was the spot, that shows if it have got water, was 3/4 red. Everyting went good within a month or so. Then in feburary/march it stopped working (wifi). The same thing for Bluetooth. It's just writing "turns on" wifi or the bluetooth, and after 5-10 minutes it say "error"
Edit: The reason why I wonder about if it's a hardware/software failure is, I do not remember if it came within a install of an costum rom or it just happened out of now where
Any sugestions?

[Q] Not receiving calls. How can I restore stock radio?

Hi, I've been fighting this problem for about a month. I'm certainly really frustrated.
I detected some time ago that, when someone tries to make a voice call yo my number, my phone seems not to receive the call (or the sequence required for the phone app to show the incomming call is broken at some point, beginning at the radio fw). I've tried many things, like flashing other radios, installing rils, reinstalling the rom (I'm using Revolution HD 7.0.4). The problem still happends every time.
Of course the first step I took was make a complaint to the phone company (Movistar Argentina); they make several tests, and finally change the sim card for a new one. Same as before.
The sim card and the company service seems to work fine, since when I put the same sim card in another phone, I had no problem to receive calls.
I thought full stock restore may be helpful, but I really don't know how to do that since I suspect not everything is placed back as it was OTB. For instance, I don't know how can be the radio+ril can be restored to factory defaults.
Any suggestions will be very appreciated.
Best regards,
Dario
If you can find access to the ruu for your region then you can just run that and it will restore everything to default. I'm not sure if since you are in a different country that you need a different ruu. If you can use the the American 2.47.502.7, I can provide a link. Also have you tried backing up just stuff you need from your sd card and wiping it. Sometimes there can be a file there that will cause issues.

Thanks four your reply.
I actually used the stock rom (I bought the device in America) for several months until change to Revolution ROM, so if you can provide me with a link I'll be grateful. I tried downloading the update from HTC official site, but seems to be an upgrade only application, I cant really tell. It ended up stopping with an error code.
I'll try also completely formatting the sd card.
Here you go. Make sure to install HTC sync on pc and leave it running in background. Then just plug in phone and run from pc

Thanks a lot, start downloading right now.
I've just installed Revolution 6.3.3, since I read in some other post that it comes with a RIL, and there's a suggestion about which radio version to use with it. So, after formatting every partition, sd card included, I flashed the proper radio and RHD. For the moment, it seems the phone is working fine, but can't be sure about ir since previously it also had some "god moments". Anyway, I'll keep watching how it behaves for a couple of days.
As a measure of last resort I'll install the stock rom Gizmoe kindly provided.
Thanks again, I'll report back with the results!

After a while, even with a clean RHD 6.3.3 installation, I'm not receiving calls again.
I'm able to make a call, receive sms, use data connection (wifi and 3g), pretty much everything but receive a voice call.
Don't really what to do anymore, I'm considering a hw problem now...

Ok I've just reversed to s-on with aahk-13012012. The scripts automatically downloaded HTC ATT stock rom, and it seems to be the same version you provided me earlier.
Then, updated to the latest rom published in HTC support site.
Again, as under a clean RHD rom, the first couple of hours everything works fine. So I'm gonna test it every day for 3 days in a row and see what happends.

Yes, I've tried many radios and rils.
I can't really tell when exactly the incomming calls problem started, but since the last time I remember not having the problem, I changed the service provider and tried installing AOSP (aospX-1.0.0-BR4-DHD), with the corresponding radio and ril. I didn't liked it, so I went back to RHD (again, with the proper radio). That's why I thought reversing to stock sw could reverse the problems, if any of them were caused by rom/radio installations.
Now I'm back to RHD 7.0.3, and don't really thing flashing some other radio will help at all, but is there some recommendation about it I'll certainly consider it.
As allways, I'm receiving calls again. That could last for several hours.
It would be very useful if there is any script or app to debug real-time events related to incomming calls, so I can figure out what is really happening.
Thanks in advance, once again

Something strange (at least for me) happend.. Before flashing back RHD, I formatted all partitions (even made a new sd partition and formatted it). So, as far as I know, that completely wipes every peace of data.
But... my home wireless connected automatically!! no need to enter password or select it from the list of available wifi networks. Don't know where that configurations are stored, but it seems something is not being wiped up as I expected...
