XDA Forums not loading completely - General Topics

Anyone else having an issue with the XDA forums not loading entirely? I'm getting a scattered load, as if there's images or something being blocked by my ISP. I'm not 100% certain, but I've confirmed here at home (CenturyLink) and at work (CenturyLink also), both my work laptop and my home gaming PC are having the same problem. I've tried browsers other than chrome which I use normally, cleared all cache, etc. Then I tried running a web proxy like zendproxy to load the site to see if it happened through different network routes, and I was able to load the forums just fine... I'm wondering if some IP or DNS block was blacklisted by CenturyLink, or if there's a bad route/hop, or who knows what else. Anyone else? Any ideas?
For what it's worth, I'm tech savvy (Career in I.T. as Systems Admin\Networking)

I am having the same problem, it is almost like the css file is not loading properly.
[Edit]
In fact if you scroll down to the bottom of the page and change to a different style it will load all the way.

[Q] Problem with Splashtop Remote Desktop/Ad Blocking

I'm trying to track down a weird issue.
On any ROM I try, if ads are blocked, my Splashtop Remote Desktop app will crash after 2-3 minutes. (Mainly when I'm trying to connect to computers at work. Both locally and remotely)
I can fix the problem by copying a default hosts file instead of a custom one. My question is... Does anyone know any lines in the ad-blocking files that could be causing this? It would be nice to have adblocking and splashtop, too!
Thanks
this problem sounds config specific, and probably occurs when your phones attempts to contact an external ip within the application and fails after several attempts, so it crashes. you would manually have to go through the custom host file and remove suspicious looking entries. It may also be that your dhcp as set up at work (im assuming remote access is vpn?) is I'll configured to contradicts ad blocking. Either way there is no quick fix or specific entry is can recommend. Part of the problem is that there are too many variables that only u know. Sorry bud.
Kinda what I figured. Odd thing is, it happens on the lge network connection when connecting home, where I know the ports are right
At some point I might try adding hosts a few at a time to see what happens

That's the only real solution man.
Sidenote: Have you tried splashtop on a tablet? Does the bigger screen reduce quality of video??
Splashtop on a tablet is very pretty. Tried it on a Sammy tablet and it was very smooth

I had the same problem too.
Anyone knows how to fix it?
Maybe your network connection become unstable?
I have this problem when my Internet connection is being overtaxed - too slow so it times out trying to load the whole page. I it can also be do to browser plug-ins blocking elements (as per another thread).

well, I use mozilla and this happens not just with xda but others too
I recommend just refreshing the page 2-3 times. You can delete browser cache (not history) and cookies.
Hope this helps
Looks to me like the sites CSS file isnt being downloaded, so yes its likely down to a over stretched or slow internet connection.
Normally refreshing a couple of times should fix it

Tried many times to refresh but still no avail. Can't even find the fix on the internet.
In the Quick Style Chooser (at the bottom of every page), you can change "-- XDA 2013 Beta" to something else.

It may help to search online about why your browser is functioning slowly. Also try reinstalling your browser. It may work. Have you tried deleting browser cache and cookies? Try searching how to delete them, do it and see if it works as I think that should solve your problem.
Remember a search engine is your friend. You can solve anything through it.
I have this problem only in XDA forum.,and my internet connection is fine.
I also try to reload the page and clean cache many times, but still can't fix it.
I use the internet with my mobile, and it's woke! but when i change back to the cable net and the problem back , too.
Finally as post-mortem says just use the Quick Style Chooser , and the normal page is back.
Where can i find that?

Weird browsing issue?

Tried 3 different browsers to view this site:
neoview.viewnetcam.com
and none of them work on Cromi-X TF700T, but that site did work on our Galaxy S II & Galaxy Nexus devices.
Tried a different wifi network and now it works!
So strange!
The two phones were on the same wifi network that the TF700T was on, in case you were wondering.
I am on CROMI-X 4.6.5 and can surf to that URL just fine in the stock browser . That is: a log in box pops up right away and since I don't have user name and password I can't get any further

Thanks for checking it for me.
Hmmm, I wonder why it won't work on my tablet?
I don't have any ad blockers installed?
Try on a different wifi network.
Just happened to me yesterday, was surfing on work pc looking up a vendor, pc couldn't/wouldn't load their site, thought it was down/maintenance etc, got 'couldn't be found'.
Went to my phone, took it off same wifi network, used Verizon network instead, site loaded no problem. 5 min later, pc loads site as if nothing happened.
Have Windstream for Internet at office. Does this sometimes for random sites, don't know why.
Btw, your link worked for me too on my phone (stock browser). As berndlb mentioned, user/pass box pops up.

Holy crap, you are 100% correct!
That is such a weird issue!
Ahh, but what error is the browser reporting? 404 not found or 401 not authorized?
I went there with Dolphin and it skipped past the login window and went directly to 401.
Tried again with Chrome and got the login window hit cancel and got 401.
Could this be what happened to you?
Hi
I am not sure if this is the same issue as yours but I had a TF700T which I sold as I have managed to pick up a 64gig one with keyboard.
The guy I sold it to thinks it has a fault as he seems to have an intermittent issue with both the native Cromi-X browser and with Firefox in that he gets web page not available but his wife's Nexus is working fine with the same links. At first his message appeared to be that all web browsing was affected but after pressing him it seems it may be random when he clicks on links in other pages such as sponsored links in amazon. He has disabled Adaway but he says it is still happening.
Here's a screenshot...
Am hoping the issue can be fixed or he can live with it as the wife hit the roof when i came home with a second Infinity without selling the first - she says I have too many gadgets (I say we have too many kids and pets but that argument wasnt a pleasant one).
Anyone got any ideas or suggestions?

I'll get him to check on that one, I'm guessing that if he does then he should delete it yes?

No, replace it with the stock one, or delete all extra entries he doesn't want to block.
The stock version is just one line:
Code:
127.0.0.1 localhost
Note: before editing files on /system, one must be root and remount /system writable - root-enabled file managers usually have an option for that.

Can't log in with XDA app or tapatalk on android

Hi guys,
Wondering if anyone can help me fix this issue. Only started occurring today for some reason after a reboot.
Basically I'm logged in to XDA with the app, however I can't reply or view notifications etc as it comes up with an error "security error (user may not have permission to access this feature)"
The same error occurs when I try with tapatalk.
Strangely though I'm still getting notifications like before, I just can't view them when I open the apps.
I can log in with no problems using tapatalk on my iPad and using web browser.
Tried clearing cache, reinstalling apps, wiping app data and reboot with no success.
Is there any way to get these working again?
Also, this doesn't happen when I'm on wifi. I searched these forums and google and found one post from 2011 saying to uncheck 3g compatibility in settings but I can't find that setting anywhere in the app or in general phone rings

Same issue, i thought at first it may have been redirects through tapatalk servers breaking. Disabled those, with crappalins. After doing that it persisted and then found links from 2012/13 where the problem existed and they said that any links that involved search would be disabled via applications to help server load(as they were under heavy load)
I can't confirm as nobody else is talking about it but I'm still effected on/off. Hard linked threads like "Q&A" of any given device will work but things that require a search like "participated" for your username don't generally work.
Not a solution, but sharing of sufferage.

Do you also have the same problem with the XDA app? I find it really strange that this behaviour occurs over 2 apps.
It's also started occurring intermittently now ; may work completely fine for 3 days then it breaks for a couple of days.
I don't use XDA app but it's not the app. All times I've read of it both apps are effected. Its server side whether mobile portal overload or intentional dispersement of traffic by server Admins.

I have a somewhat similar problem, I can't seem to use this app while on my home wifi, but if I connect to my mobile network (Verizon) the app loads and works perfectly. My home wifi always causes the app to say failure to load, even though everything else with my home wifi works. Ive tried clearing data, uninstalling/reinstalling. No luck.

First of all, you revived a thread from 2014 lol.
And second, around the 30th of November, XDA will have a big update, including the app. So your problem may be fixed by the upcoming update. Read more here : https://www.xda-developers.com/big-changes-to-xda-forums-are-coming-soon/

Can someone try to access this Capital One 360 site and see if it works?

I have a Google Pixel and am unable to log into my Capital One account from any browser. Ive tried Chrome, Firefox, and Dolphin and get the same error. When I try to log in to any of the Capital One 360 banking sites it redirects to this link here. https://www.capitalone.com/ent-signin/ . And then I try I get errors on all 3 browsers. Ive tried everything except for a full factory reset. Ive tried clearing cache, cookies, all data, uninstalling and reinstalling. I also tried 2 different Wifi networks, and through LTE. I even went through the Pixel chat support and the tech couldnt figure it out either. So can someone that has a Pixel please try to access that site link using a browser and see if it works? Here is a screenshot of the error I get. Thanks
PS: The app works, but I prefer the mobile version via browsers.

Works just fine for me but using chrome beta? You might want to try and clear cookies for all capital one properties.
Just as an aside, why do you not use the app? They just added fingerprint auth and allow multiple accounts.

Yes, Ive tried it on wifi and cellular. And cleared all cookies since the "beginning of time". Cleared all chromes data and cache as well. Also tried without being logged into Chrome. Always same error.
Another note is that it works perfect on my S7, so this is my Pixel only having this issue.
Well I'll be. After using an incognito window I'm having the same issue (seems to be happening on all mobile sites just tried on two other phones).
It's ugly but if you request the desktop site it works. Perhaps we should report to them as I believe this isn't a pixel issue.

It doesnt happen at all on my T-Mobile Galaxy S7, only my Pixel. I already sent a message to Capital one. I also spent about 45 minutes in chat using the Pixels built in chat support and the tech said it must be a Capital one issue with just the Pixel? I really dont know. I also just tried to clear all cookies for any capital one site. Still happens.

When I click the request desktop site it goes to a page with several capital one sites. But when I click the log in to 360 it goes to the same error page. None of this happens with my S7, so I dont know if its the Pixel, or Capital One's problem.
